Fat Person See, Fat Person Do?
2008-03-04 10:38:05
My pursuit of thin has indeed changed the attitudes around here and it has only been just over a week since I started. All three of my sons have started working out. Now we just have to convert the husband and all will be great. My oldest despises the treadmill so he's decided to walk and has been walking 3 miles each day. My middle son has accepted a friend's invitation to be his guest at the local fitness center where he can work out. He went on Sunday for his first training session and while working out he heard "Hi there neighbor!" The guy who lives across the street is a member there as well and gave Josh some tips and encouragement as well as offering help any time he needed it. Josh is excited. My Daniel has started to walk on the treadmill before each of my work outs. He and I are a

Week 1 Recap
2008-03-02 09:54:54
It's officially been a week since I started my determined weight loss plan. I started out with gusto, had a midweek crisis but rebounded to lose 1.6 pounds. It's not much but it's a start. I've done other weight loss plans where I've dropped 5-7 pounds each week BUT it's apparent that the weight just returned. The slow and steady course is going to be the best one for me because I'll learn what's best for my body.Walking every day is essential and I think I could have posted a higher weight loss if I hasn't skipped a few days. Friday and Saturday are rough for me because J is off work on those days and we do nothing but run errands and go places. On Friday we purchased Taboo and went to my nephew's house to play. We had a blast and they loved the game so much that we ended up there last ni

Nagging Thoughts
2008-02-28 08:30:06
Even though I've just started this weight loss adventure my mind has already raced ahead to the day when I hit my goal weight. Actually the thoughts that plague my mind now will now doubt come into play long before my goal weight of 125lbs. With exercise I know that I'll tighten up, lose inches as well as pounds and build muscle where fat used to have a solid foundation. But what about what I call the baby pouch? It's funny how I've begun to obsess over this and not even worry about the c-section/hsyterectomy scars that adorn my abdomen. The pouch is a definite concern. My boys weren't huge babies: 7lbss 1 ozs, 8lbs. 14ozs. and 7lbs. but I have very little room between rib and hip so I don't see how I'm going to trim that down without plastic surgery.I have very mixed emotions when it com

Day Three-Reflections
2008-02-26 07:19:43
It's going well so far but then again it's only day three. The urge to constantly step onto the scale has taken me by surprise so I've turned the digital demon over to my husband who will present it to me on my weigh in day and not before. I'd read that you shouldn't weight yourself for the first full month of your weight loss endeavor in order to allow yourself a chance to get into a solid routine. After the first month you then begin to weight yourself once a week. I might do this but haven't made a definite decision just yet.I love my treadmill and I'm happy that my husband can no longer use it as a place to toss his sweatshirt. He's still trying to break the habit but my grumbling might just speed his efforts. Last night I was really annoyed when he strolled into the bedroom after work

Dr. Oz
2008-02-25 08:02:27
I figured I'd sneak a post in while I'm eating my breakfast. I was never much of a breakfast person and by that I mean that I didn't eat when I woke up. Breakfast foods however are quite delicious. Now on to the topic of this post. Dr. Oz is one of my all time favorite celebrity docs. I've seen in on several episodes of Oprah.Dr Oz along with Dr. Michael Roizen have a 90 day plan that will get you back on the track to healthy. Now don't read this as 90 days to quick weight loss folks, it's lifestyle changes to change your health. The things that I've done over the past 2 years have been good changes:Buying only organic foods.Purchasing meats that have no growth hormones, antibiotics or other additives.Cutting back on the amount of red meat consumed.Cooking nearly everything from scratch. And so it begins
2008-02-24 16:15:17
This is the final step for me in tackling the demons that occupied my life's closet. I'm a very happily married gal from New Jersey with three sons. Surrounded by family and dear friends my life is pretty darn good if I say so myself. It wasn't always that way. There have been a lot of necessary changes that have been made. Many of those changes were really hard to face. Let's be completely honest with ourselves shall we? It's so much easier to blame people and distractions around us for the faults that originate within us. In many areas of my life I've changed so much and yet one demon has plagued me for far too many years. My weight. Though I've never been rail thin there was a time in my life when I was at a healthy weight and was extremely active. Rock climbing, canoing, hiking, biking

Weighing In On Recent Events
2008-03-10 14:32:45
Blogging has been on the back burner as of late because the weather is fabulous and I've got a few projects in the works that don't involve cyber space.I weighed in yesterday and was happy to see that I'd dropped 3.4 pounds. It's slow but steady and that's what counts.

At least it's a loss...
2008-03-17 11:58:19
A bit over a pound but a loss and considering the week I've had I'm counting it as a good thing. All of the running around in order to get things done has made me quick to grab the easy foods and we all know that easy foods aren't necessarily good ones.I posted on my personal blog that I've been consumed with spring cleaning lately and considering how many times I've been up and down the stairs I'm sure that's the only reason I lost the weight. I find myself sitting a lot as I go through things and toss them into either the "cherish it" or "curb it" piles. The latter being the one that goes to the curb to be picked over by the dumpster divers or hauled away by municipal employees. I've got a full plate at the moment and believe me though I'd prefer to have it filled with veggies and good s
