It Just Got Interesting 2008-03-25 19:59:00 The last two days, I've had meetings with the owners of my company. The avenues of communication have opened up, but no one really knows what's going on. We are in dire need of a marketing manager. I am getting a raise, but still am in miserable straights of sorts.I'm tired though.I don't even know how to put it into words.
Hair To Cancer? 2008-03-27 18:30:00 I have long hair at this point. I haven't cut my hair in a full 12 months. Seriously, it's getting ridiculous. I was considering giving away my hair to cancer. However, it seems complicated and not worth it now. Remember, I'm a lazy kid at times, and I'm not even sure if I can go along with cutting my hair.Plus, I'm getting used to wearing this awesome Bandana with cool "Misfits" skeletons on it. It makes me feel good. Now onto other things:Work is ok. It's still a boring job. We desperately need a marketing guy. We've been needing a marketing guy since I arrived on the scene in March of 2007, and now that it's been one year since I've had this job, I've never missed my old jobs more.Did those jobs even work out for me? You know what, I don't even remember how crappy those jobs were. If you Read more:Cancer
FIlm Experience Blog Picks Me 2008-04-01 15:25:00 Today I received an awesome email, it was from a blog that reviews films. (No, not my other blog) I won a contest! I usually never win anything, but this time, I won an extended cut of "Walk the Line" on dvd. I'm amazed.I never win anything, and this morning: BOOM! Free DVD!Check out Film Experience Blog, and subscribe to their rss and you too could win!
Never Winning 2008-03-31 16:23:00 Thanks to TheDailyWTF for posting that image, that I've unceremoniously stolen and placed here. I remember getting fired from my webhosting gig. I was treated just like that, the security came through and escorted me out of the building, without a care in the world. It was a harsh reality. It seems like I never win.Even right now, I'm not sure what to do next, I have a small plan but no direction. There is no one to tell me what is in need, and instead of marching forward and taking prisoners, I'm just doing the job that was outlined for me. I'm tired.I'm rambling.I'm tired. My other blogs are bumping though, and I even restarted a new horror movie blog. I have to just write content for it, and it will blossom. I'm doing it old school though, no major gimmicks, just writing for fun. Read more:Winning
Where's Jorge? 2008-04-04 21:50:00 I'm here.I'm there.I'm working.Or Am I? No really, I have been working like crazy. I never thought that I'd actually do this much work, but I've been seriously juggling a lot of responsibility at work, and it's not fun. At times I feel that I've somehow I've asked for this, unintentionally, but I didn't..did I?I have to seriously think at work, and out perform my coworkers! So that means I'm doing double to triple the amount of work they do. That's what managers do right?I'm rambling.I'm tired.I like work at times.I like skateboarding.I used to have a lot more cohesive thoughts, but right now, I'm just confused.
It Always Costs More 2008-04-06 14:47:00 It always seems that I can't make enough money.I'm in debt for my education.I owe money on credit cards.I barely make enough to get by.I have little to no luxuries that I can visibly display to you. I wear old shoes, i wear cheap clothing, and I haven't had a hair cut in over a year. I try to keep things frugal. However, the future costs a lot of money.Every time I stare at the possibilities I see another mountain of money that I do not have. I'm talking about business, dreams, society, and all those grand things that we plan as we get older and desire...or are imposed upon.Want to start a business? You better have about 100k in financing to get it done right and expect to lose money the first year.Want a baby? Prepare for the added costs and inconveniences...of course no one ever cites a b Read more:Costs
I've Been Lied To 2008-04-09 23:21:00 I've been lied to.Last week, or was it the week before? Maybe the week before...The company I work for agreed to seek out a new marketing director, as well as make some changes to the way my department communicates with every other department. Then they told me that they would give me a raise and a couple of weeks vacation...however...They put me on "salary" which I did not agree with. I do not get over time, I do not get an hourly rate, I get paid a flat salary with a full year's salary split into 52 weeks of payment. This makes me upset. I do NOT make industry standard, nor do I make 1/2 or 1/3 of industry standard. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Interactive Media Design, and have a ton of skills both tech and writing related. I get paid very little for the responsibilities that I have.I'm
Week From Hell Ends 2008-04-11 20:40:00 I'm not a big fan of this week. This week has been a hell of a week. It started bad and it is now over. It began with multiple meetings with people that are not at all authorities on design. In fact, myself and my coworker are the only people in the company that hold degrees in Interactive Media Design. Sadly....my opinions were shut down quickly.Through multiple meetings, it just got worse and worse. So the workload became triple because not only did we have to redesign our website into mockups, we also had to fix the existing problems of the website. I'm so tired, that I'm not even sure how to polish this off...but it has been a wild ride and i'm glad i don't have to deal with it any longer, at least not until monday.
Small Victories are Still Victories 2008-04-16 20:52:00 Today I had a minor victory for my department. We had another meeting today, and the design goals and vision of our website has changed drastically. Seriously, it's different now.I'm no longer the head of design at work.I am no longer anything but a tech worker. The company decides what direction to go in, and myself and my crew just say yes and do what they ask. We do not create anything "designed" well, and we do not use our talents and skills to the utmost of our abilities.Instead, we are yes men. In fact, all tech workers are just yes men. We just say yes, and we do our thing. If the company I work for, didn't pay me what they pay me, I would have quit a long time ago. In fact, I'm considering my next move now, because the company I work for does everything backwards. They don't do anyth Read more:Small

All is Quiet 2008-04-22 17:26:00 Seriously. All is quiet over here in the cubicle world. The bosses aren't buzzing, no one has called me up, no meetings have been set, and we're back to our complacent existence.Today I got a php related tag functionality to work, posted on our company blog, updated two major graphics for our website, and other random boring tech related elements. It's a boring life, but hey...they pay me in boredom. Corn For Oil Is Not The Way 2008-04-25 16:52:00 I don't believe that Corn is the way to go for fuel. I understand that there are a lot of good sources of alternative fuels, and I'm for a lot of them, in personal instances. However, to fuel the whole country on corn, biodiesel of some kind, gas-ol, or any other variations (including hybrids), is not the way. I recall an article in Popular Mechanics, where they go by pure numbers and effects of what it would take to convert the nation to another source of energy, and things did not look good at all. I for one, am a big fan of saving the globe and what not, but we are not going to do it without making some major lifestyle changes. Here are just a couple:1) Walk to work. This might not work for a lot of people, but it works if your job is within 10 miles of your home. My job is 4 miles away
California Wildfire Photography 2008-04-29 13:36:00 California, my old home, has been really fighting fires lately. Apparently 1,000 people were evacuated as wild fires started up yet again...here's a photo I found to illustrate the fight against wild fires.RSS subscribers, please click through to view the photo. See The Burn 2008-04-28 17:26:00 My eyes are hurting. They are red.No amount of money is really worth my eye site being missing, but I have to make a living...I have to grow up.It's been roughly almost a year since I moved to this rainy city, and I'm really lacking in the friends department. But let's be realistic...who has time for friends? My free time is really located between the hours of 7 pm and 9 pm and that's it.All other time is really just eaten up by work, getting to work, getting home from work, and roughly 2 out of 3 of my meals are at work. I'm going to strangle my guidance counselor...I should have switched to a traditional school when i wanted to.Second quarter into my Art School freshman year, I wanted to drop out and continue my BS at UCLA or USC or any 4 year college that would have me. Instead, I stuck
Do NOT Drive a Hybrid 2008-04-30 23:06:00 Why are people so quick to buy a hybrid? Why are they advocating this as the solution?People do not know how hybrids work! The battery inside the hybrid is not cheap, the battery technology is not going to increase, and to convert the nation into this sort of mentality is dumb.Have you seen how much a hybrid costs?Do some reasearch. Now consider the savings you are going to have over the years due to lower gas spending....alright, now consider the cost of replacing the battery. The battery is NOT rechargeable. Now after 5 years or so when your battery craps out on you, guess what? You need a NEW ONE!What about the old one? What happens when millions of batteries can't be recharged?"Oh don't worry, they'll find something, the scientists will figure it out..."that is the type of thinking that has Read more:Hybrid

The Days Keep Going 2008-05-07 13:21:00 I've been reading this cool book about how society has this anxiety to achieve, to do more, and really what happens is we do less and less and slowly become useless.Am I Useless?Sometimes I think that I am.If I get carpal tunnel syndrome from working on computers all day every day, if I lose my eyesight from staring at computer monitors, what jobs will have me?I know what it is like to look for a job, and now that I'm older it's getting harder. The looking isn't hard, the finding of a new job that pays me what I get paid now is tough. Outside of my industry there are few jobs worth the trouble, and now I'm wondering what the future has for me.Am I just growing anxious now?The book is easy to read and I recommend it to everyone. It's called The Freedom Manifesto and it is by Tom Hodgkinson. Read more:Going
Same Problems Same Job 2008-05-12 17:18:00 Guess who's back?Me.I know that I've been a little wishy washy when it comes to this blog, and it's for good reasons. I have been writing for my other blogs which have been taking up a lot of my time. I have one blog in particular that is only skateboarding related, and I plow through posts on that blog like a mad man. I also work...really "work" which is odd since I'm in the creative field. Look
Porn Mystique 2008-05-14 17:42:00 I'm on the brink of finishing yet another book. This year, I've really stepped up my reading game. I am tired of the way culture doesn't revel in the fact that we spent 12 years of our lives learning how to read and write properly. We spent so much time learning how to read, and we waste it when we are adults.I don't know a whole lot of people that still actually read books. So to fight off the co Read more:Mystique
Back In Action...Or Inaction 2008-05-20 19:37:00 I'm back to work...well..something like that. I was on a vacation of sorts for a short while, it was A ok. I got to hang out with people I don't usually hang out with, and I didn't have to write any code or fix any website problems at all. It was kind of nice. My left wrist was hurting really bad all weekend, and the recent heat wave made things very uncomfortable for me at night, but I muscled th Read more:Action
The Long Walk Home 2008-05-22 21:32:00 Today I was walking home, a long winded walk, and right before I got home I heard this song on my ipod. It's by the Distillers, a female fronted punk rock band, and the song is about Los Angeles. I lived in Los Angeles for a long time, and last year I decided to move here. (Seattle, Wa) It wasn't a tough move, as I was tired of the college life, and living a one bedroom apartment just wasn't cutti
The Madness Fills My Void 2008-05-22 00:35:00 There is so much beauty in this beloved darkness...I've been reading Arkham Asylum, a graphic novel that deals with the psychology of the villains in the Batman universe. The Joker and others have taken over the nut house and want a face to face meeting with Batman. The interior art is so good, it intrigues me. Page by page, I can stare and get lost in the world that is so masterfully designed by Read more:Madness
Coheed and Cambria May 20th 2008 Seattle, Wa. 2008-05-21 18:33:00 I ventured out of my house yesterday night to the Showbox in Seattle
to see Coheed and Cambria play. Now, I'm not a big fan of their music, and in fact I hate their low budget sounding albums. (With the exception of their debut on Equal Vision) So I was a little hesitant in going, but I wanted to support my wife's interests and I love live music, so I was there in full support. The band played thro

I'm From L.A Southern California 2008-05-26 15:12:00 I spent a lot of years not listening to any hip hop. In a lot of ways, I just didn't understand what the rhymes meant, or said...then in some stroke of genius, someone passed me a long a Murs tape, and things changed immediately. I understood that there could co-exist lyricism and understanding of culture.Murs comes from a city that I used to hang out in all the time, outside of the calm and colle Read more:Southern

The Ordinary LIfe 2008-05-29 07:24:00 It is not the line that I crossed that has failed me, it is that the line was drawn by someone else, and now I want to know why...I do not want to try everything, I don't want to do everything. I want a humble life, a peaceful existence, a stability in the work place, and understanding that this life and myself is just temporary. We're so temporary.I'm clutching to my indignation; I fear the reco
Survivalism 2008-05-30 13:10:00 In the last few days I’ve been broken. I listen to a lot of podcasts, and some of them are traditional geek topics, and some are hardcore developer guides as well as tutorials on web development and other nerd things. One is in Spanish, and the rest are just ramblings. However, recently I’ve ran into a string of sermon podcasts from emerging churches around the nation. These churches are not t Read more:Survivalism

The Soccer Pro 2008-06-04 15:58:00 Before my parents moved to Mexico, my dad was a soccer pro.
