Lookin' Good. 2008-05-28 20:00:28 Back on line - great thing! I picked up my supercharged Mac yesterday - finally! To commemorate the day - I also purchased some iKlear. I really had not noticed how dismal my laptop had become. As the Mac guy was showing me the new Leopard - and finding my BOOKMARKS ( hurrah!) - I couldn't stop staring at the filth on my screen, keys - generally all over. I guess having the computer in the ki
Printsy Thursday #3. 2008-05-29 11:16:30 Ahhh.. . So happy to be posting the 3rd in the series - Printsy Thursday
. This week I would like to introduce Alishagould. One of the newest members of the Printsy Team, Alisha is a screen printer. I love screen printing because it is so smooth. Unlike lino-prints or woodblock - (which I love too for other reasons) - the silkscreen allows the artist to apply a thin layer of ink onto the pap
Labor of Love. 2008-06-03 20:17:06 I have been diligently working every night - painting - painting. The "Sycamore Road" pattern is taking shape - one small painted house at a time. I had developed the repeat last month - and have been working on the painted technique since. For example - should the windows be painted black (like in my lino-cuts)- or just have a shadow line? I opted for the shadow line. How should the trees be
Happy Early Birthday To - Me. 2008-06-06 13:11:38 OK my big day is not for two weeks (so no songs yet). I was looking at these lovely ceramics by ShoshonaSnow on Etsy- and decided what a great birthday present to get for myself. My hubby said - "perfect" ( I asked because I wanted to make sure he did not have any special gift planned). Shoshona was really great about packing everything so nicely and - right away - (I feel like I just ordere Read more:Happy

Printsy Thursday #4. 2008-06-12 22:25:28 After a lovely day at the pool with the kiddies – I am happy to sit down and present the 4th in the Printsy Thursday
series. (Don’t count weeks – because I have missed a couple due to misc.) I have been lurking on the Printsy Flickr group to see many wonderful works by the new members of the Printsy Team. I, of course, have added 0 images to the group. Adding my work is just not that int

Printsy Interview - Me 2008-06-17 19:45:40 Thanks so much to Viza for interviewing me in this week's Printsy Blog post. Check it out here. There is a new interview up each week -so check it out - it's a great way to see how printmakers develop their work. This is me - printing in the kitchen. Ok - enough for today!
Charlotte House Progress 2008-06-17 17:33:56 Just a little update on the CharlotteHouse
(thank you Drew for being so patient!).The carving is just about done - and I'm very happy with how it is turning out. It has a different character than the others - a bit more detail and the house is bigger in proportion to the whole image. I need to cut the bicycle in the yard and take some of the remaining sky away as well. Hope to print a test toni
Treehouse Excursion. 2008-06-24 22:38:40 Last Friday we took a really fun day trip to the Tyler Arboretum ( just outside Philadelphia). Now that the kids are a bit bigger we are trying to go on more fun excursions as a family. I saw something about the "Totally Terrific Treehouses" exhibition and it peaked my interest. We are in the conceptual phase of a design for a new treehouse at our new property - so I thought this would be fun to
Thanks Scoutie Girl! 2008-06-23 08:18:22 Well, we are back from a great weekend away. First to see some fun and creative tree houses last Friday ( will post about next) and a couple of days in Avalon, NJ ( great weather and fun friends). Just a little thanks to Jan at Scoutie Girl for posting about my houses on her very informative blog. I don't know how she "scouts" out all of the great finds each day - but am happy she found me!Now Read more:Thanks
Printsy Thursday #5 2008-06-19 22:27:42 Thanks for checking in again on Printsy Thursday
! I just had to make this weeks post - even though it is my B-day - and I have had a full dinner and lots of tasty wine etc, etc.. But it is 10:30 and that is when I start my Thursday post. I found this week's focus on Etsy, or was it through her blog? In any case, I love the work of Kristin Loganbill. She is a printmaker with two Etsy shops.
Welcome to the Neighborhood. 2008-06-19 13:16:40 Whew... so glad to have these finished to photo today! I love how they turned out. The "owner" requested bright colors - and I love brights too. Really reminds me of Fiestaware. Just thought I would post these final pieces to give the full picture of the development of the Charlotte custom house portrait. I don't know what the official name of this one is yet - but will be posting some in my Read more:Welcome

Tea Towels. 2008-07-05 13:56:31 I was inspired by Sam at Inklore to make some tea towels. She has her new Etsy shop open - check it out - great job! So here are a few pics of the towels I printed, using my little house lino in yellow - and one with the tractor. I have another towel with green houses - just haven't put it up in the shop yet. It was very fun to do! I can't wait to get more towels to try more styles and colors Read more:Towels
Inspiration from Iittala 2008-07-02 11:34:43 I was lucky enough to have gone on a trip to Helsinki a number of years ago for work (my previous life). These little glass dishes were for sale at the Iittala factory, where I went on a tour and even got to blow some glass. These were for sale in their 2nd hand area. I guess people put things on consignment that are no longer in production. In any case - I just fell in love with these little Read more:Inspiration
Lesley Evers 2008-06-28 08:55:11 I have been meaning to post about my friend Lesley Evers's wonderful new website last week - but, well... you know time just flies!Lesley has been designing and making clothing for as long as I have known her (which is a long time indeed). She did teach me a couple tips about zippers and using a dress form when we were roommates in NYC. She is a talented artist as well - as I think comes through
See You Monday. 2008-07-22 05:26:41 Hi Just a quick note to say I am on my way to the beach for a few days... Looking forward to a bit of relaxation time - as my arms ache from painting the ceilings at the new house! So, have a great week and I'll be back Monday

Printsy Thursday #6. 2008-07-17 08:23:57 Ok - It has been two weeks since my last Printsy Thursday
post - and I do feel a little bad - because there are so many wonderful Printsy artists that need to be shown! My favorite Printsy artist this week is Jennifer of LittleBirdDesigns. How great are these images of household appliances( and the ever elusive cupcake)? They look like they could just start speaking to you. I sometimes feel tha
House with the Red Door. 2008-07-17 07:28:59 Wanted to show the progress on my current custom house portrait. I am calling this portrait ( tentitvely) " The House
with the Red Door". The owners of this lovely home contacted me via my Etsy shop to inquire about the process of having theirs captured in a lino print. I knew that the house would look great from the first photo I received. It is just so quaint. So her she is, in the first s
Am I green? 2008-07-10 23:44:02 Not much crafty to post as I have been spending much of my free time sourcing stuff for the new house. Renovations are moving along well but slowly. We have had to replace more framing that we thought due to most sill- plates ( the very bottom of the wall) being rotten with bug/ rodent infestation (yuck!). Also finding that many of the electric switches and receptacles are not functioning, mor
Front Page..."Look at these Eggbeaters" 2008-08-03 21:00:42 I am throughly exhausted - again with the paint and cleaning etc. (very boring to all - but still the reality ;)After arriving home I checked my Etsy ( as usual), ready to see if anything happened at the shop today. Wow - 50 new hearts. So onto the search to find out why.. I use the Heartomatic for a quick review of item hearts - and found that the new post I put up this week was picked by th Read more:Front

Printsy Thursday #7. 2008-07-31 23:26:09 How lovely to be home finally to post about this week's Printsy Thursday
artist(s). I may have paint on my hands and dust in my hair (what a fun day at the new house... will this saga never end? - can we just move in yet...) - yet I digress. This week's spotlight is on Lapwing Printworks run by the team of Jon and Sarah located in "the east of England". I think they just wrote that for us Yanks o
Back In The Swing. 2008-07-30 08:56:50 Well... vacation was great! Full of beach and family and parties. So back home again with some new prints. I have been making some custom house portraits on tea towels this past few days - so wanted to show some shots.I have listed this custom service in my Etsy shop as well - it is certainly fun. I am always a bit surprised when the block gets printed - how nicely the pattern develops from th
Printsy Thursday #8. 2008-08-22 08:45:11 Boxes are piling up for the "big move" next Wednesday - and It's not Thursday
- but I am excited to post about this week's choice for Printsy Thursday anyway (I'm not changing the name)!!I found Mariann Johansen-Ellis' Etsy shop a couple of months ago on Etsy and was so inspired by her work. The truly lovely and whimsical images can only make you smile. I feel as if her characters are very much
Camp Graeff. 2008-08-17 11:51:54 In the spirit of our move to the New House, I have produced a series of towels. Camp Graeff is a bit tongue in cheek - as we will be moving into a structure more like a camp site than a true functioning home. I don't mind - and am excited to finally get in. You see, we must be there for the start of school - as we cannot commute from the old house. So inspiration is born - and I am going to l

Back and Busy. 2008-08-15 09:35:25 Things are getting busy. My trip to California last week just added a bit of distraction and fun and sadness as my very wonderful uncle died - and we were celebrating his life. I couldn't cry when I was surrounded by my family, as I love to see them and it was a happy reunion of sorts. But when I left on the Bart to go see my best friend in Piedmont - the tears came. I am so sad that he is go
House with Twin Peaks. 2008-09-12 10:34:34 Things are crazy here at the "Camp" - but I just wanted to post these final prints of my latest house portrait while I have literally - a minute. I am very happy with how this one turned out. The layout os a bit smaller as I used a 6x9 lino instead of the regular 8 x 10. I also added a little figure to the forground. The owner had sent me some photos - which I have here too . Their little gir Read more:House

Just for Fun. 2008-09-08 09:41:04 Ok - so I didn't actually get this lovely group into a real Treasury - Rats! I have tried, sort of, but I seem to calculate the time both the regular Treasury and Treasury West would become available incorrectly(......for days). I had hoped to show off these things and images as a nod to the year(s) my new house was built. Don't all of these look nice together? I will list the Etsy Shops below

OK we're in! 2008-09-03 20:17:42 If anyone is even following things here - thanks so much for actually coming back!! I have been soooo absent from blogland these days - but for good reasons. We finally moved into Camp Graeff - complete ( or I should say incomplete) with one tub to act as kitchen sink - bathroom sink and well also - tub. We do have a functioning toilet - which I thank God for - as it could have easily been on t
