What Can Happen When You Follow the 5 Alternatives
2008-04-08 21:58:00
Alright, so I gave you a list of 5 Great Alternatives to Writing a College Paper. Well, I used a few of them. Here's what happens when you take the Alternatives too seriously... I had to leave for a trip at 2 on Friday. The English paper I had been putting off had to be e-mailed by midnight. Unfortunately, traveling meant no internet connection, which meant that I had to send in my paper before 2.

A New Type of World Cup
2008-04-06 20:45:00
I found this really interesting. I'd never heard of anything like this. To see this organization reach out on such a global level (with soccer no less) is amazing. Read it: Homeless World Cup Can you imagine??? I would like to meet the person who came up with this idea. The author of the comment obviously missed a few major points: 1) This a MINISTRY. It's supposed to reach out to those who need

Don't Make Big D Angry
2008-04-04 20:53:00
Ok... I have to add a disclaimer to that last entry. In "5 Great Alternatives to Writing a Paper," I may have encouraged you to push aside homework that should be a priority. So I have a few points to add: - A student-athlete has to be a student first. That's why the word student comes first. - Doing your homework, papers, and projects now will better prepare you for life beyond school, when

5 Great Alternatives to Writing a College Paper

While the particular paper to be avoided is for my freshman level English Comp class, these can be applied to any paper or project that you desire to avoid like the Plague. 1) Write a blog entry.-This is a prime example. I don't want to write the English paper, so I am writing this ABOUT not writing my English paper. I've managed to avoid the paper and put off the guilt by not doing something comp

Have Some Respect for Referees
2008-03-23 08:49:00
This is an article about a campaign for respect for soccer referees. The campaign was started by The Football Association and has recently been pubically supported by Manchester United's manager, Ferguson. Read it: Ferguson Backs Call for Respect I think this is great. It's so important that we treat all referees, umpires, game officials of any sort with the utmost respect. They are figures of aut

A Little Morning Update
2008-07-21 07:45:48
So I finally got my award letter from school. It's a huge relief to know what I can and ... can't afford. After all that stress, though, I've still decided to hold off on getting a car. I'd be in a better financial position next summer. Seems like the way to go.   Gotta run a kid to summer school.   -SC

The Arkansas Lady Razorbacks are no longer "ladies"
2008-07-20 16:22:33
Did you see this article? Arkansas athletics officials: Time to drop the prefix It seems that new Arkansas Athletic Director, Jeff Long, has decided that, "We're all 'Razorbacks," and has dropped the word "Lady" in conjunction with its women's sports teams.  Great news, I think. Most women playing sports on a college level play as hard as their male counterparts. The gender d

Am I Alone??? and more
2008-07-15 08:33:24
So we've all learned by now that I'm not very good at writing regularly. Well, sorry about that. I'm like that with phone calls and e-mails too. I stay way to busy to have time to do all this stuff. I do these when I have the time and the energy at the same time.   I told you I'd tell you about camp. Not much to tell really. 9 of us went. We ate terrible food, climbed .25 mile up hill with 3

The Freshmen Arrive
2008-08-16 19:07:54
Oh my gosh, guys. I've been at school for the past week to help with the orientation of the new students. That includes freshmen and transfer students. It's been a crazy week of planning,, meetings, running around, and pretending to like some certain person who happened to be my awful roommate from last year.   So..with 5 days of no sleep under my belt, I got up bright and early yes

Soccer team grabs a naked guy
2008-08-13 23:37:38
This happened a couple of weeks ago, but I lost it in the rush of news.Apparently an American Airlines flight from Boston to Los Angeles was diverted to Oklahoma City on July 18, 2008 after a passenger stripped nude and later tried to open an emergency exit door. Members of the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer were among those who grabbed the passenger and subdued him before he could

Time-out for brain recovery
2008-08-12 20:00:00
The Associated Press reported yesterday that your brain needs more than just one game to recover from that concussion. Moreover, girls need a little more time than guys.Apparently, healing from sports injuries to the head take a little more time than expected. Well, duh.  The biggest problem, in my opinion, is coaches failing to resist a steady push from players and parents. "Teaching young p
