Turn your blog posts into articles 2008-03-20 02:24:00 Your blog posts
, if they have some meat to them, are basically articles. If you make a blog post and you don't turn it into an article, you are leaving money on the table. Making a few small modifications to some of your better posts will turn them into articles. Since submitting articles to article directories is one of the big ways to promote your site, any re-use you can do will help you reach your goal much faster.
I have taken two of my blog posts and converted them to article.

Here are some of the things to modify:
1. Make a copy of the HTML version of the post and remove all links.
2. Add a {resource box} to the bottom of the post that includes some information about you and a linke to your web site. Generating in-bound links is one of th

3 Reasons To Blog Regularly
In order to promote your site, you should blog on a regular basis. In a previous posting, I mentioned opening several blogging accounts. In this extention of that idea, pick one of the blogging accounts and share your expertise on one particular subject

Word of the Day 2008-03-30 16:37:00
Spammy-Crap - OK...it's two words, sort of. I was listening to a podcast on podcast.neo1seo.com and Carolyn Shelby used this word (term) to describe a certain type of content and I just cracked up laughing.
My Pagerank Problem 2008-04-04 13:23:00
The Problem
:
I used to host this blog on the subdomain of my previous employer. Just before I was laid off, I got the feeling that something was going to happen real soon with the company, so I stayed up all night that night figuring out a way to move all 100+ posts (from Community Server) I had on their server to a blog (BlogEngine.NET ... only because I could directly port the data) on my own domain. Being in a rush, I just created the name blogs.johnasimpson.com off my main site (www.johnasimpson.com). Now, I find out that subdomains are bad. I checked my pagerank and here are the results:
- blogs.johnasimpson.com
- www.johnasimpson.com
Here are my options:
1. Move my blog to www.johnasimpson.com and 301-redirect all links.
2. Create a new do
Getting The Most Out Of EntreCard and 10ec From Me 2008-04-04 11:32:00 EntreCard seems to be an innovative idea in the area of driving traffic, and link exchanging. I wish I would have thought of it.
Once you join EntreCard, there are several approaches you can take when using the system. You should decide what your true motiviation for using this type of system is, and this will dictate your usage approach. There are two schools of thought; use the system to drive traffic to your web site and care only about yourself, or, use the system to gain exposure to new and interesting blogs/sites (and bloggers), and in addition, drive traffic to your site.
Regardless of how you plan on using the system, you should do these things to make the most of your usage of the system:
Make a flashy card. The colors should stand out.

...is impossible if you have the kids with you, which I found out would happen AFTER I had set the goal of posting 25 times this past weekend. Including this post, I was able to post 11 times, submit RSS feeds to 10 directories, post 7 comments, and run 5 posts thru www.socialposter.com. I really tried, but kids will take the energy out of you. They are like leeches.
On a good note, this blog went up in the Alexa rankings to 331,666. It was around 39x,xxx before. Not sure of the exact number. The other blog (www.spendingless101.com) went up by 400,000. Cool beans.

Is internal linking really worth it? 2008-04-05 18:05:00
Deep linking or internal linking seems to be a good way to make your web site/blog more balanced in the material that gets read and that gets indexed by the search engines. What you want to do is create a web of links within your own site; sort of like the way the Internet works (the World Wide Web). Here are some ways to deep link:
Create a custom error page for 404 errors and put links on that page. I have not done this yet, but it makes sense...and I've seen it elsewhere. Even in error, your users get something useful.
Group your best posts of the week or month together and post a summary at the end of that time period. You might even do one for the end of the year.
Including links in the footer is also another great way to connect the various pie
Calgon!!! Take me AWAY!!!! 2008-04-08 17:56:00 In order to completely get this blog caught up, at least by my
definition of caught up, I would have to:
All posts must be submitted to all of the social
bookmarking sites at socialposter.com.
Currently, 41 have been submitted, which leaves 117 left to go.
Remove all unnecessary category tags
Take all posts that can also qualify as articles
and post them to article submission sites (20)
Write enough posts to have two show up each day for
the next two weeks (get two weeks ahead on posting)
Drop 300 EntreCards per day / advertise site with
all available ec’s (daily)
Submit RSS feed to feed directory sites (20)
Create links from each post to at least one other
post on the site (internal linking)

5 Reasons To Stop Stumbling and Start Living 2008-04-08 02:37:00 I have to admit that StumbleUpon is very addicting. I've stumbled for hours at a time; wasting the time I was going to use to promote my blogs or post entries. Actually, it's been kind of like EntreCard dropping. I've been addicted to that one also.
Here are 5 reasons you should stop Stumbling and start living:
1. The pile of granola bar wrappers and Mountain Dew cans are starting to impair your view of the monitor.
2. You have Stumbled EVERY site in StumbleUpon and are starting over where you originally started Stumbling 3 days ago.
3. StumbleUpon has warned you many times about staying logged onto their site and using up all of their bandwidth.
4. You've just stumbled upon your ex-wife's Match.com profile and you think sh Read more:Reasons

10 tips to drive massive traffic to a new blog 2008-04-11 14:23:00
I have a process that I go through when setting up a new blog. I tried to get it all down on paper, but there are so many things. Here are 10 of the things I do...
Write your blog posts as if they were articles, then post them to article directories: This can drive
a lot of traffic
and can also get your work out to the public because your articles will be used as content on multiple blogs...all linking back to you.
Social bookmark your posts. SocialPoster.com is the best tool for doing this that I've come across.
List your blog in blog and site directories.
Add your blog to DMOZ.org, which is syndicated on quite a lot of sites.
Comment on other people's blogs.
Join social networks, like Facebook, Friendster, MySpace, etc... Read more:massive
