Dubai: Jelena Jankovic Lost, Had 23 break point opportunities
2008-02-29 07:46:00
Jelena lost to Svetlana Kuznetsova in a not so typical match, even more for a Semi-final of a Tier I Tournament. There were well over 40 break point s to be seen, after 2 hours and 43 minutes Svetlana had more strength and will to win, in the end 2:1 in sets, 5:7 4:6 3:6, in front of not too many spectators in first match of the day.Jelena's loss was similar to Ana Ivanovic's loss against another Russian Elena Dementieva the day earlier (1:2 in sets, 5:7 6:3 6:3), Jelena and Ana played tennis not recognizable for them, weak performance with a few bright spots, handing over wins to opponents. After winning first set, Jelena had opportunity to secure a lead and likely a match win at 4:3 and her serve game, though Jelena chatted with the judge over a disputable ball and following challenge, the

Dubai: Ana Ivanovic Lost To Elena Dementieva
2008-02-28 16:46:00
It's as if Ana lost to herself in the Quarterfinals of Dubai with too many errors not typical for her, missed open shots and easy points given away that eventually led to defeat against World #11 Elena Dementieva in 3 sets, 7:5 3:6 3:6.The match lasted 2 and a half hours on the Central Court in afternon hours local time, Ana looked to find her rhythm, in the final game of the match she almost found it, though there was no longer strength in her muscles for the turnaround.Ana saved 7 match points, came to opportunity to win a break game, then showed all those errors that brought her close to loss - Ana's 'winners' ended in outs and it was the end. Ana started good with 3:1 lead in first set, Elena turned things around to 4:3, Ana returned a break game, in 12th game won a break game with 'ze

Dubai: Jelena Jankovic In The Quarterfinals
2008-02-27 09:11:00
Jelena Jankovic won over Sania Mirza in 3 sets 4:6 6:4 6:3. This was the first time that Sania won a set against Jelena in their previous 3 matches. One of the most notable impressions of the match is Jelena not having match patience for what is going on aside the court to remind us on some of her younger days. Can this be another impression of Jelena's tiredness and exhaustion!? Jelena rightly complained about the boys that give tennis balls being rather slow, then another rightly complainment on the crowd that would start to cheer in the middle of the point when Sania would make a good shot.Jelena complained several times to the judge and he asked the audiance to cheer within the tennis manners. After 90 minutes of play, at the beginning of 3rd set, Jelena complained on line-judge's call,
