Hiding your image buttons for some sidebar goodness
2007-04-11 21:36:43
Blog directories are a good way to earn traffic but nonetheless you’re obliged to put their image buttons or banner which track your blog and get you ranked. After signing with several ones and putting their buttons, your sidebar soon looks cramped full of them : a real pain in the eyes! I’ll here show you a quick trick to hide all those buttons while your blog is always crawled and ranked. The principle behind is pretty simple. I’ll just use simple css to hide those buttons and have you all that precious space. Yes you also recover the precious space those buttons have been taking all this time. This works on most browsers including Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera so those using them won’t see any of your loads of image buttons you’ve put in that sidebar of yours to obtain some traffic juice from the blog directories. I’ll enclose all the image buttons with their corresponding links inside a div class selector and style that div to make it inv

List 3 bloggers that will continue doing this meme/tag. For the last part, those tagged can choose any frequency they want to post their blog love round but it should be at least once in every week. They can name it whatever they want, Squarelinkers blog love round or blogname blog love round, as they think suited and link to this post so th

Hi5 hacked, gain access to anyone’s account!
2007-04-16 09:23:03
My buddy roushdat published a nice post in the form of a how-to demonstrating us a phishing technique, which consists of masking a mail from Hi5 into a false one tricking the user to enter his login details but also sending those details to the phisher. Your Hi5 account is then at the total control of the phisher. It’s so simple and anybody can use this technique to gain access to anyone’s Hi5 account. So beware, just make sure to read your Hi5 mails carefully and do change your password every now and then. Thanks to roushdat for sharing with us this trick. From Roushdat : Let me explain: I’ve modified a hi5 page so as to receive the username and passwords of some people in my mailbox when they login Ehhh relax, am not a hacker :p…I’m if am not wrong, i’m a phisher Not a real one though, I’ve done it only to educate my fellow friends how to keep their passwords safely and take better care! The proper way to write code in your blog posts
2007-04-21 20:25:10
When writing a blog post, many of us write the code for a particular application directly in the post which get executed(mostly for HTML tags and PHP code), in return messing things up. For example while telling your visitors how to make text bold, you would use the <strong> tag but when publishing the post, this will get executed and making text somewhere it shouldn’t, bold. Down here, I’ll show you how to write any code for any language the proper way, that is one in which it won’t be executed but nonetheless your visitors will be able to copy and use the code without any manoeuvre. Previously I used different techniques to write code in my post like putting a space inside the tag so that it isn’t considered a valid tag like < strong > but when people would copy the code, the space will be in there too and it wouldn’t work on their side. It’s when Lorelle gave me a post that I was enlightened into the proper way of writing code. You would wr

More fun with random picking of post in Blogger and Wordpress

Most people like to scan content following a proper hierachy, chronologically like most blog would do, that is digging in the past archives from the present time. Recently Matt came with a new way to allow people to browse your content. Perhaps that might not be a definitive way, but nevertheless it’s fun. It allows people by clicking on a link on your blog to fall on a randomly fetched post. Resize your post’s images to boost your blog’s speed.
2007-05-05 15:05:38
Daily blog tips discussed an important aspect when using images in posts. It tells you that if you specify the image dimensions while publishing it, it makes your blog loads faster since Wordpress/or any blogging platfrom knows the amount of space to reserve for it. When you use images or tables on your pages you should always include the height and width tags. If the browser does not see those tags it will need to figure the size of the image, then load the image and then load the rest of the page. You can achieve this easily if you have the Visual editor activated(go to Users > Your profile from your Wordpress admin section) since when clicking the image insertion button, you are asked various key information. The dimensions can also be adjusted there. Make sure to put a description of your image since that is used to make your post XHTML valid. As for those that don’t use the visual editor, you can specify the description using the alt attribute and the dimension within t

Is making money online the most sought after blogging lesson?

How to become a “genius” in 5 steps?
2007-05-27 23:18:10
Are you a genius ? I’m not and yet artists and inventors aren’t really more ingenious than the rest of us. Source Last weekend during a party, the guests had arrived early and the beer was warm. Try giving warm beer to a bunch of beer-thirsty teenagers and tell me the result. I was the one in charge of drinks and once again I’d forgotten to refrigerate it. The only options I felt at that time were to go buy cool ones. “Don’t worry,” replied my girlfriend. “I can chill it for you right away.” Five minutes later, she emerged from the kitchen with the beer perfectly cooled. She was reluctant to reveal her secret, but when we threatened to report her for witchcraft, she relented. “Easy,” she said. “I poured the beer in plastic bags and dipped them in ice water. After a few swishes, the beer was cold. The hard part was getting it back into the beer tank. I couldn’t find a funnel, so I made a cone with wax paper.” My guests applau

Best of Wordpress theme galore
2007-05-31 08:27:37
In this post, I’ll be telling you how to choose a good Wordpress theme and provide you with a list of posts regrouping the best Wordpress themes around the blogosphere. Points to look in a good Wordpress theme 1. Compatible with major browser. Does the theme work on Internet Explorer as it is on Firefox? Some themes tend to be developed under only a certain browser leaving your visitors with a broken or inaccessible site if they are using a browser that can’t understand how that theme was laid out. Check through the theme’s feature list to see whether it works on major browser like Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera,etc.. 2. Free help and support. Is there a particular place where you can get help on the theme like a forum or discussion group? Is the theme developer willing to provide his own help to you? 3. Support for plugins you need. Some theme may not work with particular plugins so do check whether it will work with those you’re willing to implement. For

The art of smart guessing
2007-05-29 13:23:28
Are you a smart guesser or one that usually takes too much wild guesses? Last year during the summer holiday, I attended an interview for a job as a telemarketer. I had very much rehearsed my speech and thought of all possible questions that the interviewer may ask me and the appropriate answers. But guess what? The first and only question, the smart lady asked me was this: Make as if you are watching Captain Jack Sparrow on TV, sailing the pacific in his ship. One of his mates accidentally drops a cannonball over the deepest point on earth, the Mariana Trench. How long will it take for the cannonball to reach the floor of the ocean? Source Before reading on – please try to solve the problem yourself. Did you make a wild guess because of the “lack of information”? Did you get muddled up in the equations of motion of Newton and the laws of gravity trying to come up with an “exact answer”? Or are you among the smart ones and you have managed to hit the proble

If you’ve already upgraded to 2.2, continue reading to know how to downgrade to 2.1.3 and why you should imperatively do so. Features of 2.2 getting on the way Preview in new tab 2.2 comes with a new feature that opens drafted posts in a new tab/window if we want to preview how it will appear on our site. Now this is really annoying when you’re editing your post since your browser will be damn full of opened tabs of the previewed post, confusing you which could end messy. You could have clicked on a tab which wasn’t that preview and return to your post and edit it when it wasn’t required. Widget bugs The widget feature of 2.2 allows you to drag and drop items such as recent posts, categories, etc onto your sidebar and arrange them. This was in the past a plugin which you should have installed for such a

How-to turn visitors into returning visitors

A quick remedy to your theme modding addiction
2007-06-05 05:31:34
Having your own custom theme/design for your blog is an exhilarating experience for most bloggers. But what sometimes seem mere modifications to make the design better become a real addiction .You can’t step on your blog without changing something around. If you have got even simple coding and design skills, I’m sure that struck you as it did to me and I’ll tell you some quick tips to remedy to that addiction. You just put your site’s url at the top input box, choose the version of IE you want to preview it on and hit Render. You’ll then be offered the screenshot in seconds.
