Charlton sign Lita on short loan
2008-03-06 16:29:00
Leroy off to Charlton ? no. Yes its official Coppel l has gone mad. We have a small squad and few strikers but still he's willing to let Lita go away for a month when we have important games ahead. So this is a striker who has scored and performed well in the reserve team and still Coppell wont pick him, you tell me that's not personal. Now I know Leroy has a lot of growing up to and his off field behavior has brought disrepute to the club but I'm sure he'll grow out of it very fast if he's playing regular football.

Reading get away win at last
2008-03-01 15:36:00
Middlesbrough 0-1 Reading Harper got the 90th min winner at the Riverside. Hunt delivering the pass to Harper to grab a last minute win . Reading put a good performance today there where some shaky moment's and a game with more bookings than the scoreline is never a good one except for the fact that we needed this win so so bad. On the flip side its a real shame that Birmingham did so well and thumped Spurs. we could have been out of the danger zone tonight. Hunt put another good performance and I don't want to blow my bugle about him but he put the effort in and earned himself a yellow. Doyle has come to life as well, his goal disallowed as Bikey was called for a foul on Schwarzer. This win is at a very crucial time and long overdue. Keep it up boys C'mon you Royals

Still no win and no win in sight
2008-02-24 09:11:00
Reading had their 8 th loss in the league on the trot and things are going from bad to worse. They had energy going forward up until about the 30 min mark and then just fell back. Still Doyle was started who still cannot score and really hasn't got any get up and go (its got up and gone). Really really grim times I afraid. People keep doing the maths and and saying that we'll stay up. Well lets be honest all the other clubs invested and are striving to survive . John Madjeski likes Coppell running at all on the cheap but it isn't go to get results. I'm amazed be cause Madjeski is a good business man and serious investment would have been the life line we needed. imagine if he was really serious and put a bid in for Anelka . I know he went for a lot of money but that money would soon

Happy Birthday to RFC
2008-02-21 14:51:00
Today is a special landmark for Reading Football Club - we played our very first game 136 years ago today. Back on 21st February 1872, we drew 0-0 with Reading Grammar School at the Reading Recreation Ground, Kings Meadow, on the banks of the Thames. Pictured to the right is our team from the day. The very respectable-looking chap in the suit jacket is Joseph Edward Sydenham, a jeweller and the Club's founder. There are no specific match reports, but the team would appear to have been Hart in goal, Rogers and Haygarth at the back, then Hayne, Ewart, Cook, Margrett, W Martin, Miller, Holbrook, J Martin and Marks. J Martin was later to become the town's Mayor, while Haygarth was capped for England at both cricket and football. The keeper Hart was 5

Home advantage will count
2008-02-20 12:48:00
Reading captain Graeme Murty believes home advantage will prove to be decisive on Sunday when the Royals host Aston Villa. Reading have lost their last seven Premier League matches, a run which has seen them drop into the bottom three. Murty said that having lost at Villa Park in January, they would put things right this time. He said: "When you look at the goals, we weren't particularly happy with things that went on in that game." "They got the points, fair play to them, we know they're a decent team. "But at the Madejski, we're a good team and we know that with our fans behind us and with a little bit of be

Stadium expansion
2008-02-19 15:16:00
Latest on Stadium expansion Posted on: Tue 19 Feb 2008Chief Executive Nigel Howe has given an update on the plans to expand Madejski Stadium. Planning permission is in place to increase our capacity to around 38,000, and the work will not take place until summer 2009 at the earliest. Chief Executive Nigel Howe said , "We still have every intention of increasing the stadium capacity, but now is not the right time to do it. We have always built this Club on sensible foundations and that's what we are doing again here."From day one, we've said there's no point expanding if we don't maintain our place in the Premier League. "Work needs to begin over a summer when the Stadium is not in use. We will revisit things once we know where we are at the end of this season and make a plan accordingly b

Good news on Little & Duberry
2008-02-13 14:48:00
Glen Little and Michael Duberry have received good news as they look to step up their comebacks from injury. Glen has been given the surgeon's all-clear to take his rehab to the next stage, while Duberry is looking to return to full training in the next few days. "We've seen Glen's surgeon and he was very happy with the progress, it all went as was expected. "We'll progress from here, and the time period will be dictated by when he's physically ready to train. The tendon will take a good time to completely heal, but that wouldn't stop him getting back to playing football. "We don't want to push him too soon, I think March might be optimistic but we'll see how he goes."

Matejovskey
2008-02-12 13:08:00
It has been said that it will take Reading time to get themselves to to the standard of Matejovskey. It is very early to say how he plays but what we've seen so far isn't bad at all. The old boring chesnut about "oh we'll never fill the space that Sidwell left" well stand back as this Cech player is set to bring back more excitement into midfield and even a better strength than Sidwell. I believe he will play a crucial part in the survival of the team this season , well done Steve Coppell , good signing.

Coppell on Everton Game
2008-02-10 13:04:00
"I think we deserved something today," Coppell told the post-match press. "I thought we were the better team at half time. "In the second half, obviously they upped the tempo - they have to as the home side. Its really sad , because they just cant get it together. I watched Man City take on Man Utd today and the way that City played was fantastic, I felt awful that Reading cant play like that, well they can when they can be bothered.

Everton 1-0 Reading
2008-02-09 16:00:00
Well once again another stunning performance by the Royals (if only). It is very very sad times. talk about not firing on all 4 cylinders. 1 man gives 100% Mr.Hunt and then Sonko stands around like a statue. I cannot believe this is the same man we all used to sing to "Sonko is Superman", oh well. So the big questions are are ticket prices going down when we get relegated and will we do a Leeds and get eaten alive in the Championship and fall even further.Reading s rating out of ten. 3 (generous)

Royals beat city 2-0
2008-03-09 06:13:00
This was a massive win. Even better than last week beating Boro. we shot up out of the relegation zone and back on track. I know the polls show different and people have a feeling that Reading we still be relegated. I know we're not 100% safe but keep backing them give you re support they've done a brilliant job to turn it around now we 've got to show our support , C'mon you Rzzzzzzzzzzz

Traning camp in Spain
2008-03-14 18:59:00
The training in Spain this week has been good , Stephen has said that the trip was productive and tough but refreshed the team ahead of this Saturdays match at Anfield . Glen Little is back to full training a few reserve games and he'll be ready to re join the 1 st team again. Skipper Murty missed the trip with his knee injury and could be out for a little while.

Reading 2-1 Birmingham
2008-03-23 02:59:00
Royal put on a good show and dominate dthe game all going one way in the 1st half. Oster delivered a free kick which Bikey turned into the goal with a brilliant header on 31st min to take the lead.Zarate then to Birmingham level after half time after they had being piling on the pressure and a goal was inevitable scored on the 64th min, but Reading pushed ahead with another free kick and would you believe it another Andrea Bikey header on the 79th min, that was a very tight 14 mins after that (11 reg +3 mins added ) , well deserved 3 points and a bit of security but they still cant sit back and relax the fight will remain on until the close of season

Reading 0-0 Blackburn
2008-03-29 15:33:00
Reading held Blackburn to a 0 -0 game. A lot of chances and even down to 10 men they still managed to get a point . So we must take a positive from this maybe not the most entertaining of games but a point none the less and helps us in the bid for survival in the top flight.

Little returns to Royals reserves
2008-04-01 17:06:00
Glen Little played 67 minutes as the reserves earned a 2-0 home win over Portsmouth tonight. It was Glen's first start in exactly a year, and he will very much have benefitted from the runout against Pompey's second string. The 32-year-old has faced a year of treatment for Achilles problems since he last played for the Royals in a 1-0 defeat at Tottenham on 1 April 2007.Murty also fit again so could show an appearance on Saturday against Newcastle.Reserve squad was as follows:Reading Reserve squad: Federici; Murty, De La Cruz (c), Duberry, Sonko; Cisse, Fae, Little (Sigurdsson 67), Convey; Henry, LongSubs: Andersen, Kelly, Golbourne, Illugason

Newcastle 3-0 Reading
2008-04-05 19:28:00
After all the recent good work the Royals have done in their bid for survival all was undone as a very poor performance let Keegan's side walk over them. There is still no communication up front between Doyle and Kitson, fair enough Hunt still puts in loads of effort. All these games right now are so so crucial. I can only hope that they dont perform like that against Fulham. Duberry should have been played, Im sorry for being negative but when they deserve it thats what they get, play like crap I'll give them crap.

Reading 0-2 Fulham
2008-04-12 13:30:00
Once again another sorry arse performance from a team you think would be playing their socks off to stay in the top flight but no, good old Reading let themselves down big style with no passion in the way the played and didn't look like a team that wants to survive so I'm sorry to say this but If they go down they deserve it after crap like that and at Newcastle.I dont just want to bitch , there are individuals who perform and play week in week out very well but their are the usual suspects (Oster,Shorey,Doyle) who dont have their heart in the game and havnt seemed to be interseted for a long time. Nice to see Glen Little back a real quality player. Well done to Fulham who worked hard and took the 3 point. I pray to god that what ever it is that has upset play with Reading please leave a

Arsenal 2-0 Reading
2008-04-19 15:22:00
This could have been a better game. We could have said that about loads of games we've given away so easy. I am so so angry. Every football player/team strives to get into the top flight and play there. Ive never witnessed such poor play and lack of heart and spirit to be in the Premier League.Once again Reading gave away pass after pass and where played off the park to be honest. WE played Kitson on his own up front ,that never works one up front and has been proved time and time again, they only came close twice once with a wide attempt from Harper with a glancing header and then Convey who in fairness did put in back into it and seemed to be the only player working. Duberry was brought on and managed to save more humiliation as he cleared the ball off the line . I'm glad he didn't star

Wigan 0-0 Reading
2008-04-26 16:30:00
Reading played well today like they had spirit, but is it all to late? Lets hope not as the other Premier League results favoured us and thank fully we are still just out of the drop zone. Still playing Doyle on the wing today then subbed by Little I still don't know why he thinks Doyle should make so many starts the guy isn't firing and so why field him all the time? In my opinion Little should have started and played Long up with Lita from the start. Well a deserved point and we can only pray that Reading will manage to get some more points in the 2 games left and not have to rely on the other teams to keep us safe a win would really 1 win would almost do it , so well done to the boys and lets take something off Spurs they can afford it and we need it some come! on you Royals

Its incredible, every team thats in trouble have worked really hard to get back on track, Wigan ,Sunderland, Boro,Bolton,Fulham. So what does Reading do nothing just sit back relax and hope that every thing will be okay.Yet another piss poor performance. Coppell has a lot to answer for and I for one will not be sorry to see him go. Yes he got them promoted but he is way way to layed back and needs to put a rocket up their arse when they don't perform, but no instead he insists on playing donkeys like Doyle/ I cannot believe it this is a player who is just not worth fielding and yet he has had so many starts. then the stupid old fool Coppell he buy a brilliant player (Matejovsky)and keeps him on the bench and brings him on in the dying minutes. Coppell you really have destroyed the team. You

Too little too late
2008-05-11 13:56:00
Where did those goals come from? and where have they been all season? Well much to little and too late as Fulham's Danny Murphy scored a goal worth millions and we sunk. It is so so sad and Ive been sulking all afternoon. But lets be honest Reading haven't done them self's any favours this season. they called on us the fans to support them and we did and then they re pay us with all the rubbish th

Duberry , Little Ben Hamer and Sctt davies have been offered contract renewals, however John Oster, Ulises De La Cruz, John Halls, Graham Stack, Adam Bygrave and Aaron Brown will all depart as their deals come to a conclusion. Bit of a shame with De La Cruz as he was a strong left or right back as he could play any position at the back. Alan Bennett and Sam Sodje are back with the Club after loan
