Musing of a C Working Mom Part 5 - Blogging 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Yesterday was a bad day...for me as a blogger.First, I decided to write a *word* that might be causing problem in this blog. That's too bad because I used it appropriately. And I honestly believe it's needed to be said in light of wanting to truly tell people what one of the husband's needs are. Anyway, I will not use that word again here. That's fine by me.The other day, Monday, I decided to register at Top Blogsite. I was very excited, as my rating rose from 117 to 86 in just one day (and night)!. The bad thing is I got obsessed with it. I was checking my rating constantly! An then I discovered an error! I am giving it a couple of days for the Top Blogsite people to work it out and inform me what went on (might be related to what I talked about in my first paragraph) but today I promised myself not to look at that rating anymore. In fact, I promised myself that after I finish this post I won't check in anymore until later tonight, maybe tomorrow. (Oh, yes, I used to check Read more:Blogging
Essential C's of Lasting Marriage - WFMW 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Works for Me Wednesday's Edition today is about Love Sweet Love. Shannon wanted us to share the best relationship advice we can give. Or, share some ideas for making Valentine's Day special for our sweetie or our kids. She said that if we're going to link back there, we should keep it PG-rated. I guess my Cheap Valentine Date post here won't make it there :)Anyway, when I first saw this announcement I knew exactly what I wanted to share. I was going to title it the Essential
C's of A Long Lasting Marriage. The title sounds impressive, isn't it? Or maybe not. However, I was day dreaming when I thought I can expound on that topic. You see, there are many C's of a successful marriage namely: courtship that never ends, effective communication, compassion and learning to forgive, companionship, conflict resolution skills, commitment (a biggie), and consistent *beep* (sorry, edited due to PG rating). And because I really don't have much time to expound on all those C's and share
Working, Blogging, Driving & Panda Express 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Work is better today than yesterday. That's because I didn't peek at my blog as much. Yeah, I will stop doing that... Not good.... Wait, maybe lunch time I can....I'm back at BlogTopSite. Maybe I was just being too "suspicious" that someone got upset with the *word* I used. I guess i was "second guessing" myself about using it here on my blog. Not because I think it's wrong (remember I used it appropriately) but because I don't want to offend anymore who reads this blog (which is probably an impossible thing because there's always someone who will be offended by something). Anyway, I think it's ok now. Later I'll update the "Massage Date Idea" post.Things that we do for our kids! Today is Wednesday...that means "Jazz and Tap" class for N. I had to leave work at 3:00 PM, pick her up from school and drive her to the dance class. The CRAZY thing is that my work place is 5 minutes away from the dance class studio while the school is 30 minutes away (and the school is 5 mi Read more:Blogging

A Sweet and Spicy Valentine Date 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I was cruising the blogosphere this morning visiting the "Tackle It Tuesday" participants when I saw that Heather's "Cheap Dates" post is already up. I thought, "Wow, she's put it up early. That's wonderful. Then all of a sudden I realized, it's not early -TODAY is the day we're supposed to be posting the ideas! So I immediately went to Sharlee's Homepage to see what's going on...and sure enough there are already entries posted. I immediately came back here to post. So, here's what I can come up for now and I'll add some more later:Step 1: Find friends or relatives who will take care of your kids. It's better if you can drop them off on their house. (Alternative: if you can't find a sitter, sendthem to bed early, then start your date at home after they are asleep)Step 2: Actually, this step 2 should be step 1. This is preparing the supplies you'll need. What supplies? Hmmm.... that's right, I have not told you what kind of date this is....well, it's a MASSAGE DATE (a se Read more:Sweet

Musing of a C Working Mom - Part 3 (Tada!) 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I need to post this quickly before my husband comes back from watching the football game at our friend's house. My husband will probably think he entered the wrong house when he goes in. As promised, here are the "before and after" photos. I have some more but the "after" is not done yet...so let's start with this: BEFORE: Hah! See those boxes in the back? Those were Christmas decorations. I was so proud of myself that I put down all those decorations on the weekend after Christmas and placed them neatly in those boxes. Hubby is supposed to put them in the garage...it stayed there until this morning! The clutter on our beautiful console - they grow like mushroom! It was all nice and nest on Christmastime..and the clutter just grew like weeds! AFTER: Ohhhh Baby! How d'ya all like that? Well, the nice bonsai plant doesn't really belong there. It belongs on our kitchen bay window. But I had to put it there for presentation purposes, as the console looked so bare after all
Musing of a C Working Mom - Part 4 (da Plants) 1970-01-01 00:59:59 "Oh my..I died and gone to another house!" Those were hubby's words when he entered our living/dining room :)So now I'm back to blogging. Since the house is clean, and he has his fill of fellowship, I don't think I'd hear a complaint about my blogging today. I'm posting another before and after photo but I'll end that series here. I need to move on with my TO DO list. I must draft the letter I need to write to my son's teacher. I won't explain here what's going on...maybe later. Actually, whoever is interested to find out more about this can go to the Schwabbieland. I posted there what's going on.So here's the before and after photo of our Lanai: BEFORE: The dead poinsettia has been like that for weeks. It was windy here in the last two weeks, it was blown down and it stayed down until I threw it away today. The plant with dried leaves was looking sad. More about that plant on the "after" caption. AFTER: Now, that's better. This plant has a sentimental value to u Read more:Plants

Racial Discrimination and White Supremacy 1970-01-01 00:59:59 "RacialDiscrimination
still prevailing in the South" has been a topic that popped up in and out conversations in the past few weeks in our office. Some of my co-workers said that it's still pretty much present, mostly in the affluent areas in the South. Is that true? If so, isn't that sad?I am glad that I live on Hawaii where diversity is appreciated. Our kids are called "Rainbow Kids". When you enter a classroom full of kids, you'll see all kinds of skin color - from black, brown, yellow, red and white. Their eyes vary from big round ones to cute chinky ones. The kids take pride in their ethnic background. Ask any kid at school what ethnicity he/she has and he/she can tell you what they are. So I can't imagine being in a place where Racial Discrimination abounds.Another sad (and disturbing) thing I read in an article that said many "White
Supremest" are Christians who "uphold the value" of traditional marriages and Christian moral standards...but in reality they think thei Read more:Supremacy

Why I Raise My Hand During Worship 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Do you raise your hand during worship at church? I do! I really do. I love doing it. Let me share why...For me, raising my hands means surrender...several different surrenders:...like when a police officer tells a suspect "hands up" surrender - I am guilty, please pardon me surrender......or "these burdens are too heavy for me..take it", surrender...or I don't know what else to do surrender....For me, it also means adoration. When I was a young Christian and I was watching the Beatles Anthology...I saw these girls screaming, crying, and raising their hands while they were listening to Beatles sing their song in a concert. They adored Beatles! And it struck me that we don't express our adoration to Jesus as much as we express our adoration to our favorite rock band! So since then, when i worship and I feel like expressing my adoration to God, I raise my hand freely.I know I cannot be still during worship. I mean, I have to express my worship through my hands while I sing. I even
Honor Roll of Men's Blog 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Ame started it...On her February 6th post, she presented her...Honor Roll of Men's Blog. According to her, the men in her "Honor Roll" are men who display in their writing authenticity and intimacy with their Almighty God and their wives and kids. Men who have shown her what it looks like when a man loves his wife and is kind and good to her, who does not abuse her, and who loves his kids with kindness and goodness, too.I thought "that was a fantastic idea!". It was very honoring...and yes, an honor well deserved by the men bloggers she listed. As I thought more about it, I realize that I too have a list of men bloggers who in my opinion exemplifies integrity in their blogs. They pass the criteria that Ame mentioned above. And so without further ado, I present to you my "Honor Roll of Men Bloggers":1. Tim of Second Timothy - both Ame and I have him on our list :)2. Rich of Digital Rich Daily -watch out, he just added background music to his blog. His post today 2/9 is brillant!3. Pa
Carnival of Love Stories 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Remember my post "What Was I Thinking - Duh!" when I told you I decided to host a Carnival
of Love Stories
, and then later on I decided I couldn't do it? Since I couldn't find in the instruction how to delete the carnival listing, I e-mailed their administrator to tell them I can't do it. Well, I did not hear back from Blog Carnival Administrators. I assumed they deleted my listing, only to find out they didn't. And now I received a couple of entries. I did not promote it or did anything with it so I'm surprised it got noticed. Well, maybe I shouldn't be surprised - afterall, everyone loves to tell and read love stories. Well, maybe not everyone, but a lot! Therefore, I decided to go for it! This post is just the quick announcement and instructions on what to do. I will come back with a better presentation this weekend. The idea is for you to TELL US YOUR LOVE STORY. It could be how you and your spouse met; It could be a story of courtship, engagement or staying in love. I d Read more:Love Stories

RMW # 2 - How Do I Know What is Truth 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Really...how do we know what is truth? Craig, our pastor, did an excellent job teaching on "How Do We Know God's Truth
". In John 8:31 Jesus says "If you hold on to my teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth shall set you free." So we can know the Truth through Jesus Christ and God's Word. Jesus said: "For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify the truth. Everyone who hears of of the truth hears my voice." - John 18:37
RMW #1 - Why Does It Matter What I Believe? 1970-01-01 00:59:59 This is my first post on Sunday message ponderings on "Reframing My Worldview (RMW)". I think it's appropriate to first ask the question: "What is a worldview?". Craig said it's "the beliefs I build my life on". Why does is matter what we believe? It matters because belief is like a rudder that directs our path as we go through life. Examples of beliefs existing in our society today are: individualism (it's all about me), materialism (he who ends up with most toys win) and pragmatism (whatever works for you). Oh, those 3 beliefs reminds me of this verse: "There is a way which seems right to a man, but it's end is the way of death.". And this kind of death is eternal separation from our body as well as from God. No, I wouldn't want that. So, what then is my worldview? Mine can personally be summed up in this verse:"For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain" - Philippians 1:21. Actually, I lke the whole epistle of Philippians. It's a life manual :)How about you? What's you
Re-framing My Worldview (RMW) 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Our church, Hope Chapel Maui, is starting a new series called Reframing
Your Worldview
, based on the Wide Angle Series of Rick Warren. As I sat in church listening to Craig (our pastor), I can't help but think how the blogsphere is a great place to see the different point of view people has. Each blog reflects the worldview of the blogger, be it blatantly, conspicuously or subconsciuosly.I have decided that I will do my "Sunday message ponderings" here on this particular series. Might as well...after all, this blog is called Liza's eyeVIEW :)Photo taken from Pastors.com.
Sleep Deprived 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I need some sleep - i am sleep deprived. I don't think I am at the point of needing sleeping pills yet, but I feel tired. I am sure this lack of sleep is due to anxiety, which is also due to having so many things to do at so little time.We have guests coming over from Connecticut and staying with us for a week. They are two wonderful friends. They arrive tomorrow. I wanted so much to de-clutter my house further to make it more presentable but I don't see that happening. The most I can do right now is to clean out our refrigerator. Who know what mold culture is growing in there. I am not exaggerating, I have not cleaned out our refrigerator for a while and I'm sure there are some food with molds in there. I woke up at 4:00 am today - Sunday! I mean who do you know of a working mom who would wake up at 4 am on a Sunday morning that she's off from work?! I should be sleeping in.So, I need to keep this post short and get started with my mission: throw moldy food out of the refriger Read more:Sleep
Stressed Again? 1970-01-01 00:59:59 This not good....not good at all..On the scale of 1 to 10, my stress level is probably about 8 or 9 at this moment. I just snapped at my daughter for "insisting" on calling a friend to come over. No friends over! - we need to clean up our mess! Not only is it Sunday afternoon, when I usually feels the anxiety of going back to work the next day...In addition to that, our guests are arriving tomorrow and I am not ready! I know I can never be ready enough ...but....By the way....when I went back to bed this morning to tried to get some more sleep, i ended up staring at the ceiling - I couldn't go back to sleep. So the refrigerator still needs to be cleaned out...their rooms need to be ready... and I'm still sleep deprived.Hopefully my PMS won't strike early! It seems like it's just around the corner. My dear husband better watch out.I do not like Sunday afternoons...P.S. Misery loves company so I am psoting a link to a blog I just discovered called I'm Tired Of This Mess Read more:Again
Feeling Like A Celebrity - Got Interviewed! 1970-01-01 00:59:59 By the way, the Guys who read this blog are invited to look at the interview too if you're interested - Sorry, the picture only mentioned girls :)Update: After the interview I decided to start another blog called Learning Nest of Maui. I also was invited to join Oikos Online.I was reading that interview and my answer to the question why am I blogging seems ubrupt and simplified. I guess I started my blog that way...but since then it has evolved to something so much more than just expressing my thoughts. I like the way my blogging friend POPPYCOCK puts it in this post of hers. Aside from expressing my thoughts, during several months of blogging I realized that "friendships" are also formed in the blogosphere. And that's an added bonus. So now when I blog, not only do I express my thoughts, but in the process I also desire to inspire, to encourage, to support and to motivate. Read more:Feeling

My Little Advocate 1970-01-01 00:59:59 On New Year's Eve, we attended a wedding reception. When we entered the room, my daughter N walked over to a friend. She said "Hi David!" David got out of his chair, and they gave each other a hug. David is a boy with Down Syndrome. It's one of the sweetest thing I've seen.Several months ago, when I picked up N from Sunday School, I noticed that the teacher was talking to her. I asked her what the teacher said and she said she told her that it's good that she's playing and helping J. J is a boy afflicted with cerebral palsy. He's in a wheelchair and apparently N has been helping him all the time in class, pushing his wheelchair when needed, etc. She also help him at the playground..and gives him a hug when she sees him at church. When school started this year...N also told me about a boy in her class who is having trouble in class. "He's a good boy mom" she said "He just has a hard time writing and reading...and so he throws tantrums when he can't write." N said she's been help Read more:Advocate
