An ISP for your Car?
2007-02-07 15:45:00
You really cannot get more mobile than this. According to Computer World "Autonet Mobile will sell a black box starting in March that plugs into a car cigarette lighter (or standard wall outlet) and connects to the Internet via a 3G cellular connection. Then, just like your home Wi-Fi network, it makes that connection available to wireless devices, such as laptops, at rates of 400 Kbit/sec. to 1 Mbit/sec, depending on the speed and quality of the available cell network.continues"Anyone within 100 feet of the Autonet Mobile box can connect if he knows the secret log-in information. That means you can park at a restaurant, take your laptop inside and still connect. A caravan of cars traveling together could all share the Wi-Fi connection of one car. And you can cancel your T-Mobile wireless account with Starbucks because the hot spot in your car will be just as available as Starbucks' network when you're inside sucking down your Venti Slurpachino.Autonet Mobile is shockingly inexpensiv

Iphone to be released on June 16, 2007?!
2007-02-07 15:20:00
Well it sure looks like Jobs and crew want to keep a lid on everything based on this letter to the FCC. If official it would be an attempt for temporary confidentiality until June 15, 2007. Probably to keep all of the pirates, hackers, and copycats away until its official release date. Could Cingular be releasing on June 16?Will the FCC hold up? Only time shall tell.click to enlargeThanks My iPhone

Have you tried EQO?
2007-02-06 16:00:00
Well have you? Instant messaging has become one of the many popular phenomenons since the implementation of 3rd party apps to the cellular platform. AOL started with Yahoo! following close behind and now the world cannot get enough. On both of those platforms you can set up a mobile profile so when you are away you can still be reached, send and receive messages, etc...but the problem has been that you had to have a lot of text messages since most of these services are sms (text message) based and could get costly, especially if you get spammed, or your friends don't know when to stop.EQO gets around the text message premise by letting the end user download and install a Java based program that uses data (Internet) to sign in and out and send and receive all messages in a convenient window that updates on its own. Users have the ability to see their entire buddy list for all of the major messaging platforms (AOL, Yahoo!, ICQ, MSN, Jabber, Google and Skype) or just scale back and look

Palm Discontinues Non Celluar PDA
2007-02-02 22:34:00
Well in the market of pdas everyone is looking for more and more integration and it appears it is hurting some of Palm's marketshare.According to the good folks at RCR News, Palm is discontinuing their Lifedrive PDA. A 4gb hard drive device that did not have built in cellular technology. In their article"The addition of cellular communications to PDA-like devices and the advent of increasingly inexpensive flash memory led Palm to drop its LifeDrive PDA, according to company officials. The company instead has focused its recent efforts on expanding its Treo line of smartphones that combine cellular communications, e-mail and Web browsing."More can be read here.Certainally looks like the lesser integrated device is slowly becoming an item of the past.

iPhone...Revolutionary or Is It?
2007-02-02 15:12:00
The iPhone . http://www.apple.com/iphone/ Apple's newest introduction to its successful line of mp3 players. You have probably heard about it, since its release was all over the news and bloggers were quick to post about it. Jobs' is calling this the "Breakthrough Device" something one of its kind and revolutionary to the already saturated cellular market. But is it? Yes I am well aware of the iPod fascination, hell I was even broken down and given a iPod shuffle last year to take to the gym, but other than the hype and the "status symbol" that an iPod is supposed to be, I just do not see how this is revolutionary.Being a fan of smartphones and pocket pc's for many years now I was impressed by what smartphones and electronic organizers could do, the information they can hold, and the fact that my life was just made so much easier by having all my data in one place. My friends would look at me like I was crazy sometimes by carrying around such devices but when it came down to needing

What I Am Using
2007-02-02 00:50:00
Well I'm sure you are wanting to know what I currently use, so here it is, a Motorola Razr V3R Miami Ink edition. It was supposed to be a back up but someone made me a deal I could not refuse so it is what I am using right now. I have done a few modifications including adding custom skins, unbranded rom and a little bit more.It will hold me over until my next pocket pc or smartphone and with the 3G network roll out on T-Mobile in full anticipation the options should be vast once I start looking. Thanks to everyone at modmymoto.com for all of their support. Also I am using what I believe is the best headset I have ever used, the Sony HBH-610a. The sound quality on this device is amazing and the volume is finally something that can be used comfortably in any type of enviornment. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an inexpensive headset. Currently $54.99 on pricegrabber.com

Welcome!
2007-02-01 20:16:00
First, welcome and thank you for stopping by. This blog has been a long thought of mine and finally these thoughts are coming true. Even though this is my first attempt at creating a blog I have been all around sites and forums that deal with the mobile industry and just have not found exactly what I was looking for...which brought about this blog in the first place.I just could not find news, information and other specific pieces all in one location. Most talk about one specific manufacturer, or one specific os platform which is fine but to me I wanted a general area that has a little bit of everything. A place where all types of information, news releases and other general stuff would be found. So instead of searching and searching for something that I wanted I thought I would just create what I want and for others to read about. You can expect a lot to come on a very frequent basis. News about the cellular industry, carriers, new phone releases, links to other great sites and a whole

T-Mobile USA to Receive Windows Mobile 6 in 2Q
2007-02-09 05:03:00
"The latest version of Microsoft Corp.'s operating system for mobile handsets, dubbed Windows Mobile 6.0, is set to become available in the second quarter. The OS will include security enhancements for enterprise and revenue-producing features for network operators, according to the software giant. After an apparently extensive pre-briefing tour by Microsoft for customers, analysts and press, the embargoed announcement—really a simple test of restraint, violated by some excitable party—was leaked this week and details have flooded forth.According to John Starkweather, a group product manager for Microsoft's mobile and embedded devices division, the latest version of the mobile OS will ship in the United States first on new devices from T-Mobile USA Inc. Whether network operators make the update available to owners of devices running the current version of Windows Mobile depends on the operator, Starkweather said last week on a visit to RCR Wireless News' offices. Crackberry Addicts..Your Addiction is Safe
2007-02-09 16:07:00
Blackberry lovers in the UK can rejoice as you do not have to worry about losing your service. LONDON (Reuters) - BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIM) won a second victory in a key UK patent lawsuit on Wednesday that had threatened the future of BlackBerry's e-mail service in Britain.London's Court of Appeal backed a High Court ruling from a year ago that RIM, based in Ontario, Canada, had not infringed a patent held by Luxembourg company InPro Licensing Sarl which related to how portable computers surf the Internet.Lord Justice Jacob ruled that intellectual property licensor InPro's patent was not valid and should be revoked, bringing an end to the potential threat to the BlackBerry e-mail service used by hundreds of thousands in Britain. The court ruled that BlackBerry devices were more than just the ideas that were the subject of InPro's claim, noting that they "owed nothing to the patent" and must have involved "a vast amount of actual detailed implementation and design". 2007 3GSM Review
2007-02-15 21:15:00
It was a blast, but it's time to say goodbye to the land of El encierro, tapas, and QWERTY handsets with HSDPA. We came away with the impression that this was one of the most game-changing tradeshows for the mobile industry in recent memory; tri-band WCDMA is starting to become the rule rather than the exception, Microsoft rolled out its next-gen platform, and in general, it seemed like all the major manufacturers brought their "A" game to the party. Follow the links below for a trip down memory lane to see just what made this year's 3GSM so special.Links can be found hereThanks: Edgadget
