Purely Technical Post.. More on Performancing
2007-02-07 19:10:52
A while back, I recommended Performancing as a Fire-Fox add on.. which is a great tool for quick blogging.  Since maybe one or two of you might now be using it.. (maybe just Mike M.)..  I’ve run into a problem with it..  and, found a fix..  So- if you have the problem I had.. here’s the fix. My problem was “wordpress” specific.  I now have two blogs under my one log in identity.  But, it didn’t work..  I would post on the 2nd blog, and it would show up on the first blog..   - finally found the solution..  1. Enter your blog URL and press the Manually Configure button 2. Select “Custom” as your blogging service, then click NEXT 3a. Select “WordPress” as your blog system 3b. Enter the following as your API URL: http://yourblogurl.com/xmlrpc.php. Substitute your actual blog address for everything before /xmlrpc.php 3c. Click on the Advanced Setting button and enter your WordPress API k

“become a smp” to..  “the mission of smp”.  It has some of the same content, but I tried my best to clarify our mission.  If you’ve read it, I’d encourage you to read it again.  If you haven’t read it..   don’t worry about it..  it’s only for exclusive members who know the secret password deciphered with the Ovaltine secret agent ring.  If you don’t have the ring, and you’re not an exclusive member..  I’ll let it pass this one time.. go ahead and click on the page at the top that says “the mission of smp”  - Careful, your computer will self destruct 5 seconds after you read it.

Why does God allow it?
2007-02-06 18:32:21
With all the talk about the Moses Model and the aleged abuses that are found within. With all the mention made of other governments having problems as well, I have to ask why does God allow it? So many have blamed the system. I personally am of the opinion that the system is not to blame, but if not the system then what is. Ultimately you could make the case that God could have stopped it from happening yet for some reason He doesn't. Why does God allow it? Honestly it always blows my mind to look at the record of the kings. To read of Manasseh reigning for 55 years and yet he seduced Israel into more evil than the nations whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel. These men the kings, had a great system put in place before them and yet many of them still fell and God allowed it. Can someone please tell me why? There are men who step into the pulpit and misrepresent God how can that happen? He is all knowing, He knew they would do this. Why did He allow it? Jesus p

Define The Moses Model.. Somebody.. Please!
2007-02-05 05:08:14
The pastor is king and everyone better just submit or take a hike. In some places.. the Moses Model is interpreted by a small minority to means this: The pastor has a board of good ol boys outside the church that doesn’t hold him accountable. In some places.. the Moses Model is interpreted by a small minority to means this: The pastor has a board of leaders inside the church, but they are all just “yes men”. I’ve only been part of CC as a pastor for about 8 years. Before that, I was just a regular guy attending church.. where ignorance was bliss. In my few short years, I’ve observed and came in contact with a few incidences of the above mentioned styles of M.M. (that’s shorthand for Moses Model, so, from here on out.. I’ll be using MM to refer to MM.. just in case you were wondering what MM was.. that.. is for sure.. what MM stands for.. -don’t want to have to type too much that’s not really necessary.) Now.. I

How dare you judge me. Who do you think you are?
2007-02-04 06:15:23
Sound familiar?  Of course it does.  Pretty much everyone who just read that line has someone in mind.  Someone they have heard say these words or at least ones very similar with the same idea in mind.  Don’t deny it, its true. If you're a pastor you would say I have heard these words and watched people walk out the doors of my church never to return.  As a church member you can say I have heard people say this to me.  Heck you it might have even been your pastor who said them to you.  Lets face it none of us like to be judged.  None of us like to be questioned.  Yet we are every single day.  Is it right?  That's a really good question, Matthew does say after all judge not lest you be judged.  Jesus did make it clear that the measure by which we measure someone else  is the same measure you will be measured with.  So what make us think we have the right to judge?   Especially when it comes to judging our pastor, how dare we.  He is the one called by God

I'm getting excited
2007-02-02 23:17:24
CC Forest Grove. It’s a community of about 20,000 people out on the fringe of the growth belt around Portland, OR. My family and I drove through the town looking at housing. We noticed that there is basically every denomination represented there in some great old buildings, and some run down 1970s buildings. Apparently its a very religious town. It’s also a college town. Well, kinda. It’s a small-private-college town known for its optometry school (better get large print give-away Bibles). I’m about to turn 34 years old which means I was on the fringe of the whole Gen-X thing. I have no idea what gen-x was because I was too goody-goody so that doesn’t mean much to me. I didn’t participate in my own generation’s stuff. Now I’m looking at a post-modern, no absolute truth, everything is ok so long as no one gets hurt generation. So why am I getting excited ? I don’t think I could have been successful in ministry when I thought I was rea

What have you done?  What has been the fruit of your success..  and what has been the fruit of your failure..  I’ve learned.. that we are more successful reaching people by making balloon animals, than we are at holding a big crusade..  What have you gleaned..  directly from the Holy Spirit.. or, what have you gleaned from somebody else’s ministry??? Let’s share our ideas.. our experiences.. and our observations. Technorati Tags: missions, outreach, evangelism, church, pastor, vision

Ashamed Of The Holy Spirit?
2007-02-10 18:02:39
the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in the form of a dove..So, if our symbol of recognition.. is symbolic for the Holy Spirit.. then, shouldn’t the attributes and the relative elements of the Holy Spirit, be evident in our midst? This raises some big questions:  do we teach about the supernatural gifts listed in I Cor 12:1-11 are these gifts encouraged in our congregations? do we teach on the baptism with the Holy Spirit? do we provide opportunities for the gifts to be practiced, in order, in a corporate sense? Or, maybe these questions are more pressing: do we shy away from this topic? do we discourage the people in our midst who are given to a little “charismatic” expression? are we scared to associate ourselves with the churches that abusively use the H.S. terms? Troy said it earlier.. in the “Get On The Bus” post.  Yes, we teach through the WOG.. but, are we teaching the H.S.????  We need to be.  Can we be a Calvary Chapel, and s

Church Discipline, Now isn't that Fun?
2007-02-12 20:01:44
Wouldn't it be nice if we got saved and all of us were given a healthy dose of the Fear of the Lord?    Unfortunately it just doesn't seen to happen that way for everyone.  By the way what ever happened to the fear of the Lord?  It sure seems to be lacking in so many.  If all of us in the church had that fear, things sure would be nice.  In fact Church Discipline , Paul never would have had to address it, and we wouldn't have to apply it today.   We all know as pastors, the need for Church discipline.  Its used when you have to go to someone who was talking in the back row, while you were delivering this incredibly awesome message up front.  It's either be quiet or I'm going to turn you over to Satan for the destruction of your flesh.    Ok fine it's not for talking in the back row.    What place do you think church discipline plays in our churches today?  If you would say no place,  then what do you do with the man who leaves his wife for an

Christianity Today Article II
2007-02-17 01:08:37
Sure.  We are a fellowship of humans.  Humans are flawed and humans behave in questionable manners at times..   - This article.. has attempted to pull down our pants.. point at our zits, and create an overall image of disgrace!  I’m not going to say it’s wrong to write articles on organizations in the Body of Christ that have problems.  I’ve read articles about: TD Jakes, Robert Tilton, Benny Hinn,…. etc.. and never once complained.  If we are pushing heresy or manipulating the flocks for our own gain, we should have an article written on us.  It’s only fair.  This article…  cited a bunch of un-named people…. un-named people who were willing to name people.. but not be named.  - Their words should have been trashed. This reporter.. interviewed Bill Ritchie for a long time about Crossroads 2.0.. and then, threw in a few questions at the end.  Was anything said about the positive stuf

Over the Years
2007-02-20 17:38:04
One thing you can say about service, over the years, it's never been dull. So many things change, as God keeps bringing us along. As I look back over my years as a believer, there have been so many lessons.I was a little over a year old in the Lord when I was sent to Millington, Tennessee for Navy "A" school. I had gotten saved in a CC, sat under great teaching, and the changes that were happening in my life were awesome. I left my CC, and got plugged into a Baptist church in Tennessee. The Lord kept working anyway. LOL. All of that to say, there was a girl that started coming to the Baptist church. She was also in the Navy, and she shook things up in my thinking. She proudly proclaimed she went to CC such and such before joining the Navy. I thought, "Great someone else who would love the Word" But no, as I watched, I found out there was no difference between her and the world. I remember being a little confused at first. "How could she possibly have gone
