Lions vs Waratahs
1970-01-01 00:59:59
The cats played the waratahs in Sydney last year and received a solid drubbing losing 50 - 3. this year the cats have changed their name to the Lions and hopefully the name change can bring about a change of fortune. The Lions managed to win 8 consecutive Currie Cup games last year to end the season. The Lions have started off well managing to stay level for the first 16 minutes before hewat slotted a penalty… The Lions are looking a lot better than last year, with some creativity and flair, something missing from the cats since the partnership of Januarie and Habana. The Lions managed to level the scores at 3-3 each in the 22nd minute. There was a downpour during the start of the game, however the first half has had some good running rugby, leading to the Waratahs first try in the 25th minute taking the Warathas 8 -3 up. The Lions managed to claw back a little bit making it 8-6 before the Waratahs scored their second try in the corner, taking the score 15-6 at half time The Lions

Round 2 Super 14
1970-01-01 00:59:59
According to sportsbet, the Crusaders are viewed as the favourite to take the title at 3.3/1, with the blues and brumbies a close on 4/1. The hurricanes are 6/1, Waratahs 8/1 and the Bulls are the favourite South African side on 12/1. The rest of the South African teams are rates as: Sharks 18/1 Cheetahs 25/1 Stormers 40/1 and the Lions the clear underdogs at 150/1.   This years Super 14 should be wide open as the New Zealand sides have lost most of their international players, the Saffers remain ever hopeful and the Australians are always competitive. Interestingly this weekend the Reds managed to win a game, something which doesn't occur often, against the Hurricanes.   This weekend the South African teams face: Friday, February 9 Stormers v Western Force, Cape Town 18:00Friday, February 9 Sharks v Waratahs, Durban 20:05 Saturday, February 10 Bulls v Cheetahs, Pretoria 17:00Saturday, February 10 Lions v Highlanders, Johannesburg 19:10   The stormers didn't lo

round 3
1970-01-01 00:59:59
February 16 Stormers v Chiefs, Cape Town 18:30Friday, February 16 Bulls v Western Force, Pretoria 20:35Saturday, February 17 Cheetahs v Waratahs, Kimberley 16:30Saturday, February 17 Cats v Crusaders, Johannesburg 18:30Saturday, February 17 Sharks v Highlanders, Durban 20:30Last week I got all the predictions, wrong, I thought the sharks were chokers, the stormers just had an early season glitch, the cheetahs were strong opposition, and the bulls weren't as good…..However after watching most of the games, this weeks predictions should be a bit more accurate!!!!The stormers are crap, the team has players but no cohesion, so they should get a thrashing, the bulls are tough to be at Pretoria, so the should win, the cheetahs are strong, and the waratahs are going to have a miserable day and lose again…. The cats are my side, but are too inexperienced, anyone who had to endure the last 5 minutes on Saturday as a supporter can tell you how much stress they were under and thus should be

Waratahs Complain
1970-01-01 00:59:59
The Waratahs have gone and complained about how they were treated in Bloem, citing, the parachutists landing close to them, the 2,5 minutes that the 2 nd half kick off was delayed by and the fact that the cheetahs water boys threw the ball back to the cheetahs at the re-start, oh wait I am missing something about Harley Davidsons… they apparently disrupted their pre-match warm-up….   All of these matters are of grave concern to the game of rugby, what next? Maybe the announcer's voice will be too loud or soft, the grass too brown or green? If I have ever heard of a team whinging this is it!!! The Waratahs have laid an official complaint so we will see what comes of it, for the poor baby boys...

What the Waratahs complaints were

Wanna be a HERO??
1970-01-01 00:59:59
The Lions have won their first game in Australia ever in Super rugby, quite a scary thought to know it has taken a decade for this to occur!!! The game was narrowly won, with Pretorius slotting a penalty in the last minute. However the focus of this post is on heroes, the man who in the dying seconds snatches victory from the jaws of defeat, the hero who changes the teams fortunes by an incredible solo effort…. So in the: Let me become a HERO competition, which will lead to you being worshipped by your team, spectators coaches, the sexy blonde in the third row, Matt Giteau falls in the other category. No guesses for the name but it does rhyme with hero and starts with a Z!!! The man in overtime was quite clearly staring at the blonde, when he attempted the dropkick. On the other hand Bryan Habana was a hero for the boys up in Pretoria, managing to score in overtime, literally in the corner!!! Amazing end to the game, great to see a South African team finally getting it right in injur

Wylie Human needs to be subbed
2007-03-16 08:05:00
After 20 minutes the Lions are 8-0 down to the chiefs, and look lost. If they are to come back in the game, the strategy needs to change, in fact the first thing that should happen is taking Wylie Human off the field. Almost every time I watch the Lions, he has a poor game, fumbling the ball and not performing. He is generally targeted as the man to kick the high balls to as more often than not he will knock it on!!!The Chiefs have scored their second try in the corner, and the 8th man is off the field for an intentional foul. The conversion has been missed and its 13-0. Hopefully the Lions can regroup and not be embarrassed like last week....Wylie has just dropped another pass!! Commentator summed it up well, "Looks like he is celebrating his 50th birthday, not his 50th game." He is having a nightmare!!!!
