Not Martha

Not Martha the web site has been around since 2001 so most of the how to make stuff pages are pretty old, consequently links to suppliers and other sites may have gone bad. You've been warned. Not Martha has been mentioned by Fred Flare and Daily Candy and was called one of the Coolest Websites of 2006 by Time. My name is Megan, I live in Seattle, WA with Scott and a clover plant. Which I might have killed last week. I post pages here on how to make things, and keep some photos here at Flickr. Some of her interviews: interview by Rebecca Blood, and interview by Leah Peah.

The Breakfast Blog
2007-12-03 14:25:00
We always hear that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so most of us begrudgingly wolf down some cold cereal or bagel. Not rapacious Australian blogger Jamie Wodetzki. No, he's in search of the best eggs in town, and he takes you along for a fascinating jaunt through the bustling breakfast scene Down Under. His thorough food reviews are always accompanied by mouth-watering photos, and he obligingly includes a handy scoring system too. We commend his search for perfectly poached eggs and heavenly Hollandaise sauce. Even if you're not planning a trip to the other side of the planet, Jamie's savory breakfast blog speaks the universal language of deliciousness. The Breakfast Blog[via Yahoo's Picks]

The “Blog” of “Unnecessary” Quotation Marks
2007-11-17 12:27:00
Bethany Keeley, the blogger behind "The 'Blog' of 'Unnecessary' Quotation Marks", says she isn't a member of the punctuation police and doesn't want to be."The grammar police want to claim me for themselves, but they're never going to get me onboard," Keeley said in a telephone interview with Chicago Tribune. That's because her punctuation spying is purely for fun, not anger management, says Keeley, a doctoral student in rhetoric at the University of Georgia.Keeley collects pictures of signs that use quotation marks in questionable places, and posts them on her Weblog. She finds it entertaining to pretend that quotation marks that are used for emphasis instead indicate insincerity, sarcasm or euphemism. For example, when a reader submitted a photo of a hotel sign telling guests, Please 'Do N

Daily Monster
2007-09-25 11:08:00
Stefan G. Bucher, the man behind 344 Design, is a graphic designer, illustrator, and "good egg." He also likes monsters. His blog, Daily Monster , started as a 100-day project to promote his book, Upstairs Neighbors. Every day, Bucher posted videos of himself deftly sketching creepy and whimsical monsters derived from random inkblots. Daily Monster soon captured the imagination of its readers who began assigning names, jobs, and personalities to Bucher's critters (sometimes even composing odes to the little varmints). When the 100 days were up, Bucher decided to keep the monster love going by turning Daily Monster into an interactive experience; "open source" inkblots are provided so readers may create their own monstrous menageries and submit them to the blog. With a book of the original 1
