Honey Do Lists: What's On Yours?
2007-02-04 20:12:00
Ah, "the honey do list," all you married men know exactly what I am talking about. It is that list that usually hangs on your refrigerator with a long list of things for you to do. And, for some reason you can start at the top of the list and work your way down and yet never reach the bottom. It seems at times as soon as one thing is checked off at the top two more are added at the bottom. And, I believe the key to a happy, peaceful marriage is to continue to whittle away at that "honey do list" all the time knowing you will never get it completed. Of course being unmarried, I don't get that honey do list. I get phone calls from the neighborhood with, "Can you come help me with this?" or, "Can you take me here?" Sometimes I get this one, What are you doing right now?" Or, the one that happens in the cold of winter, "My water pipes have frozen can you come help?" Playing in water when it's 10 degrees will push servitude to a whole new level. Just so all you ma

Little Johnny Goes To Bible Class
2007-02-02 03:36:00
It was the brightest of Sunday mornings as the sun warmed the cool air. And, who should show up to church in his finest suit but little Johnny . Now, little Johnny was no stranger to Bible class; he just wasn't a regular. He sat right pert as the teacher began the class teaching on the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. She taught them that as Lot's wife left she turned and looked back and turned into a pillar of salt. With that said, little Johnny could stand it no more. "Teacher, Teacher," he shouted with hand held high. "Yes, little Johnny," she replied. He answered, "That's nothin' the other day we were riding down the road and my mom looked back and turned into a telephone pole!" I guess we can take away from this lesson to not look back! And, to not look back is what Paul told the church in Philippi: Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are

WHAT DO YOU WANT ON YOUR TOMBSTONE?
2007-01-30 03:11:00
He watched cautiously as the family in the booth beside him ordered, carefully making note of each item so as to order for his own family not just the same but better. He couldn't believe that they ordered extra pepperoni, but he went one better and ordered not only the extra pepperoni but the anchovies too for his family. Have you met people like that, that no matter what you do they have to run out and not just do the same but try and out do it? They never seem to be happy when you have good fortune, but their envy and jealousy leads them to always have to try and do one better?Looking at the Apostolic Parousia in Philippians (Phil. 2:29f) we see Paul making travel plans for Timothy with the hope that he will one day he too will be able to go to Philippi. In Philippians 2:19 Paul tells those in Philippi that he is going to send Timothy to them and then Paul gives us three qualities that we all need to learn. They are qualities that should be in each Christian's heart. Sometimes

GLOBAL WARMING TEXAS STYLE
2007-01-27 01:13:00
Someone taught me a long time ago that you can always tell a Texan; you just can't tell "em much. Ok, for all my Texas readers that was a joke; there are too many of you that I plan to spend eternity with for me to start trying to make you mad! One thing you can't tell a Texan much about this winter is global warming. I think they'd be more inclined to hear about an on coming ice age. Their world was crippled earlier this month with an ice storm of Texas proportion. The state was basically in chains. I reckon on that Sunday morning the Gospel was in chains also; or was it? Brother Tim Archer wrote me that he was looking forward to "family worship" The roads were impassible and there was no electricity so they were prisoners in there own homes. They were under house arrest pretty much. But, that didn't stop the work of the Lord.Rome was an ice storm to Paul. In Acts 28 he was imprisoned there under house arrest. "And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the pr

TAG; YOU'RE IT!
2007-01-23 04:10:00
On a recent update to his blog, brother John Dobbs tagged me. That means I am suppose to tell five things that no one knows about me. Now, I had to do some serious thought on this subject. I mean I am sure there are a lot of things that you don't know about me and to be honest, you probably don't even want to know. Please do me one favor; after you read this light hearted post continue reading as there is a serious post at the end. With that said, here goes; we delve into my hidden life! And, also you bloggers that are reading please finish because you may be tagged at the end.1. As a general rule I don't eat anything green or yellow (except corn ON the cob). God said, "Rise, Peter, Kill and Eat" (Acts 10:13); he never said pluck and graze!2. I have had the privilege of picking the banjo with Bill Monroe (in 1982) and Lester Flatt (in 1977 and 78): "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands" (Psalms 100:1) They were joyful; I supplied the noise!3. An Humble, Earnest Christian
2007-01-19 04:06:00
I am making my normal Saturday night update a day early this week for a reason; today is the 200th birthday of Robert E. Lee and I wanted to talk about a quote he made. Robert E. Lee said, "My chief concern is to try and be an humble, earnest Christian " I think that is something we all should be striving for. Humble is defined as "Marked by meekness or modesty in behavior, attitude, or spirit; not arrogant or prideful; Low in rank, quality, or station" In Mark 7 we are told that pride is one of the qualities that come from within a man that defiles him: For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness (Mark 7:21-22). Is humble not what our Savior was? Paul wrote to he church at Philippi "But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men" (Philippians 2:7)). Our

Agreeing to Disagree
2007-01-17 03:44:00
Agreeing To Disagree Someone told me a long time ago there are two things you don't discuss with drunks: Politics and religion! And, though I think it is a true statement, sober folks don't always discuss these subjects with the best tact. Pro Live vs. Pro Abortion; No new taxes vs. we need new taxes; Bring the boys home vs. We need to send more troops! Now, if you want to see the discussion turn real nasty start talking about religion. Those discussions can get so bad they'd make Billy Graham cuss. I am not talking about discussions by just everyday people or drunks; I am talking about discussions by faithful members of the church. And while I don't agree with coming to blows by the Word of the Lord, I have seen so many of these discussions end with the parties agreeing to disagree. While I am sure God doesn't want us to beat one another with the Bible, does he want us to agree to disagree? To the church in Corinth Paul wrote, "Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of ou

EBONY AND IVORY
2007-01-14 03:24:00
We are on the brink of celebrating Lee- Jackson-King Day on Monday. I opted for the "inclusive" name for the holiday that I grew up celebrating in Virginia. For those who don't know, it was originally Lee- Jackson" day for years in Virginia then Dr. King was added it before the segregation of the holiday to give Dr. King his own day. I wonder if God likes the holiday being split? With all the strides forward in race relations in the United States, Sunday morning at 11 o'clock is the most segregated hour of the week. I have often wondered why, and believe at best we can only wonder and guess why we are still separated in the very thing that should be brining us together. I asked several friends a while back their opinions on this and I never really got a good definitive answer. And though I do not believe that hate is the reason that churches are for the most part segregated, I do believe racial tensions and hate are what led to the original segregation. More people know of th

HELL STAYS OPEN ALL NIGHT LONG
2007-01-10 04:03:00
We live in wonderful times. We have the best of technology, all the most modern of gadgets. We can carry an entire music library of many thousands of songs in our shirt pocket. We have the whole world at our fingertips. We can sit here in the States and press a button and send a letter half way around the world in a matter of seconds. Information that once had to be sought in the only the best of libraries or bookstores is now available at the click of a mouse. I can sit in my house in North Carolina and carry the Gospel to the farthest reaches of the world. We have it all twenty four hours a day, and it doesn't shut down for holidays. Of course, along with the good, the bad and the ugly are lurking near by.Jesus said, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" (Matthew 28:19). And, now more than any time in history we have the capability to do just that. Through websites, message boards, chats, and ot

THE ODD FOLKS OF OCRACOKE
2007-01-07 03:15:00
I started December by asking if we could know the exact date of the birth of the Savior. And, now as the season is over and the decorations have all been placed in their boxes awaiting the time when they are brought out next year, down in Ocracoke , North Carolina 3 hours south of me (accessable only by ferry) they are preparing to celebrate Christmas tomorrow. They keep what we call "Old Christmas" So the question still remains; do we know when Jesus was born?Of course the folks in Ocracoke hold on to a date on the old "Julian" calendar and disregard the date of December 25 on the calendar of Pope Gregory. And, I suppose that what ever date you want to say that Jesus was born you can find evidence to support that date if you dig around long enough and tweak it to fit your fancy. Since I wrote that article in December I have had tons of emails that gave evidence for a good many dates. But, it hit me today that I have the answer as to the birth of Christ. Each time a sinner

The Angel of Marye'sHeights
2007-01-03 04:11:00
THE ANGEL OF MARYE'S HEIGHTSFredericksburg Virginia can be a cold place in winter. And, when a war is raging it can seem to be even colder. Thirteen December 1862 was a cold day in Fredericksburg, as America's Civil War was being fought there at Marye's Heights. On one side of the battlefield were union forces and on the other side were Confederate forces. The battle raged as the smell of fresh gunpowder filled the air. In between the two sets of troops the ground was filled with Union soldiers who had fallen from the shots of Confederate guns. The stench of death filled that middle part of the ground as dying and dead soldiers now lay under the continuous ringing of the shots from both sides. Not one Union soldier, medic, or man of God from the Union army ventured into the fray to help the wounded. As their life's blood slowly drained from them they were left to die in the middle of the battlefield. Young Richard Kirkland of the Confederate army had another plan though. He co

BACK UP AND PUSH
2006-12-31 03:06:00
We are now over Christmas and starting to count down the hours (Literally hours I write this) until the coming in of the New Year. And, this year has decided to go out with a blast: The loss of a former President; the loss of a performer; and the execution of a former dictator. Standing at the crossroads of the years is eerie. One never knows what the New Year will bring. Who will be there at the end of the year? What struggles will we endure in the up coming year? As Christians we know that each new year and new day for that matter brings us ever closer to the time when we will meet our savior. We stand at the crossroads everyday when we are faced with various temptations that want to lead us away from a life eternal with God. Will the struggles we endure this New Year bring us closer to God or separate from him? Spiritually the way we move forward is to look backwards. We look back at the old and forward into the new.Through the prophet Jeremiah, the Lord said, "Stand ye in the w

PARDON ME; I FEEL GOOD
2006-12-28 04:06:00
Over the Christmas holidays we have lost two Americans. One was the oldest living ex-president of the United States, Gerald Ford. The other was the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. Both men will be remembered for many ages to come. Ford, who has ties to my own home state of North Carolina, came to office at a time when the states needed healing from the Watergate scandal. The nation was torn from the scandal and still reeling from the effects of the Vietnam War. He is the only man to ever occupy the office of President that was not voted either president or vice president. Among other things, he will be remembered as the man who pardoned President Richard Nixon.James brown was the self proclaimed "Hardest Working Man in Show Business" In his business life every time the times changed Brown seemed to adapt and move along with them. Most black artist today will say that Brown was an influence on their career. And, he wasn't just known to Black audiences; In 1979 Brown made an app

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE
2006-12-23 03:09:00
Though Frank Capra's 1946 movie "It's a Wonderful Life" was not a hit with the critics or at the box office, it has become a holiday classic here in the United States. My favorite version however, is one that was produced as a high school play a few years ago: My niece had the role of the Angel Clarence Oddbody; it was changed to "Clara" Oddbody for obvious reasons. But, I admit I try and watch Jimmy Stewart at least once each season in the original. One of the more memorable lines from the movie has also become sort of a Christmas time cliché: "Every time a bell rings an angel gets their wings" And though I do like to hear Zuzu repeat those lines, to me the most memorable quote was delivered by the Angel, Clarence Oddbody A.S.2: "Strange isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives and when he isn't around he leaves an awful big hole, doesn't he?" Two thousand years ago a baby was born in Bethlehem. His parents were poor; so poor they couldnâ

THE (HOLY) GHOST OF (A) CHRISTMAS PRESENT
2006-12-21 04:10:00
He had lived up in the hills for years mostly keeping to himself. Of course as the only blacksmith in the area most of the men knew John well. The kids were all scared of John. Maybe it was his appearance as his large robust frame was always cover with black soot. The boys nicknamed him wicky John and the name stuck for generations of kids that came and went in the small village. John never attended church. They say once time the Rev. Jackson went out to try and pay a call on John and thinking that it was the boys playing a prank at his door John came running out raising cane and the preacher left in a state of fright. Some say John felt he had sealed his fate that day.His last Christmas Eve was to be no different old wicky John thought. John never kept any holidays, so not keeping Christmas didn't surprise anyone. John blew out the candles and retired as the sun went down. But, he was awakened by the hardest of knockings on his door. John went to the door in his usual fit of rage o

I'M DREAMING OF A WHITE CHRISTMAS
2006-12-18 03:11:00
I am dreaming of a white Christmas, of course the ten day forecast seems to suggest that I need to keep on dreaming. It isn't bad enough that I live in the south; I live right at the coast also. But in my life I have seen a few white Christmases. I think the last was about 17 years ago we had around 2 feet of snow on Christmas Eve. Around here when the snow starts to fall little by little you hear the sounds of quietness overtaking the normal sounds of the everyday hustle and bustle. Little by little the snow wraps itself around us pulling us together in the warmth. The sounds outside are the sounds that God has put in the air. On the inside we are swaddled in the love with our family and basking in the warmth of their love. On the first Christmas we are told that our savior was wrapped in swaddling clothes. The love of his mother wrapped Him, while others were also wrapped in love. That first Christmas God's love appeared to the shepherds in the fields when the Angels p

YOU'RE SO SMART, YOU RIG UP THE LIGHTS
2006-12-13 01:52:00
One of the biggest woes of this time of year is putting the lights on the tree. In our house it was always the job of my mom to do this: No one could put them on right but her. And now that her eyesight is failing she has relegated the job to her granddaughter. In all my years I have never had the thrill, or the agony, of putting the lights on the tree. But, I have seen it done. You can check them as many times as you want while they are lying on the floor and yet it seems that when they hit the tree something always goes wrong with them. And, I guess it isn't limited to my house as the Grinch told little Cindy Lou Who that her tree had a light that wouldn't burn on one side. Some of the more common expressions heard at Christmastime around my house are; "Now, why aren't they burning;" "What do you mean if one goes out they all go out;" "Yeah, they are on, BUT THEY ARE BLLINKING; I DON'T WANT THEM TO BLINK!!!" This list could go on and on, but I think you get the

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS .............
2006-12-09 04:23:00
Well, it's that time of year again when a lot of people ask me what I want for Christmas. Of course my stock answer is world peace! Really though, I don't know of anything I want. I lost my tape measure so a new tape measure would be nice as I lost mine a few months back and didn't know I used it so much until it was gone. It just seems that the older you get the less things you really want. So, you sit back and get what other people think you want or need: You get what they see as being fitting for your character. When the Magi visited the Messiah they brought gifts. The Bible records three gifts that were given to the Christ child. And, of course he hadn't made a list either. First, we are told that he received gold. And, what a fitting gifts it was. Gold is associated with being a king. The word gold is used 417 times in the Bible. King Nebuchadnezzar made an idol of gold sixty cubits high and six cubits wide (Dan. 31). In Zechariah 6:11 crowns were made of silver

A CHRISTMAS CONFESSION (OF SORTS)
2006-12-06 03:25:00
A CHRISTMAS CONFESSION I have to make a confession. As most of you know I live in the south. And, I am proud of my southern heritage. But now I need to make a confession to all y'all ("all y'all" is a plural for y'all which is a plural for you, and I think it is fancier talk than yeuns and is inclusive of everyone). Anyway, back to my Christmas confession; though I am from the south I must confess that I have never been particularly found of Elvis Presley, although I will be the first to admit his original guitar player, Scotty Moore, was the epitome of a rockabilly guitar player. Now, I know, you are wondering "what has this to do with Christmas?" Well, nothing, except that I heard Elvis singing a Christmas song today and asking a very serious question: Why Can't Everyday Be like Christmas? Do you notice a change in people around this time of year? It just seems to me that people are of better cheer this time of year. Just today I saw a teenager dropping mon

IT'S DECEMBER
2006-12-02 03:48:00
Well it is December. It was right at 80 degrees today to usher in the new month, but tomorrow is to only be in the low fifties with the next few days in the 40's with overnight lows in the upper twenties. So, I guess I can talk about Christmas now (not like I haven't all year long!). I know some of you are thinking that we shouldn't celebrate Christmas and if you feel that way I promise I won't judge you. The Apostle Paul said to "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days" (Colossians 2:16). So, for those who choose to not celebrate Christmas I do not hold that against them and hope that they won't hold against me my love for the holiday. Many people say, and rightly so, that we just don't know that Jesus was born on December 25. And, I have heard a good many people, many of them preachers, say that the evidence is really against December 25th being the day of Jesus' birth.

Over The River and Through The Woods
2006-11-23 03:45:00
My fondest memories of Thanksgiving are of going to my grandmothers' houses. I was blessed in that I am able to remember two grandmothers plus one great grandmother. That alone is enough for anyone to offer thanksgiving! Both of my grandmothers started off life as poor country girls. One stayed on the country and lived there until her death when I was 6. The other moved to the city where she still lives at the ripe young age of 92. The one that lived in the country was poor by most people's standards, yet I never noticed it. The other moved to the city and ran a rest home and lived, and still lives, comfortably. Though they lived very different lives, they both had faith in God. And. It was visible through their lifestyles. While ones faith was shown sometimes through what she had, the other's was shown through what she didn't have. For some reason though I never noticed the have and the have not; the faith was what shown through to a little boy. I remember walki

The Annunciation
2006-11-20 03:11:00
THE ANNUNCIATIONShe sat quietly in the room contemplating the words she had just heard. Unmarried and with child and not by the man she is betrothed to. What would the neighbors say? What would her family do? How would she raise a baby if her soon to be husband left her because of this? She knew the law. A thousand upon ten thousand thoughts raced threw her mind as she tried to understand al the implications of her act. Then she turned and looked at the Heavenly messenger and said, "Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word" (Luke 1:38).With the approach of the Christmas season we sometimes focus so much on the birth of the Savior that we over look the actions that led up to his birth. At the annunciation, Mary showed us an extreme act of faith. In our present society unwed mothers are rarely noticed as their numbers seem to climb each year. But, in Mary's time it wasn't the same as our day. The law back then was quite harsh, and Mary would have know

IT LOOKS LIKE DIRT BUT IT'S NOT
2006-11-11 03:54:00
IT LOOKS LIKE DIRT BUT IT'S NOT(read that sentence fast)I had planned to update my blog tonight with a thought provoking post called "The Annunciation" I had been mulling it over in my mind, and on paper, for a while and thought I had it they way I wanted. I figured it to be a thought provoking piece. Well, that was yesterday. Today the sinuses hit hard. And, I mean HARD! The pressure over and around my left eye has been at times almost unbearable, not to mention that steady stream that keeps dripping from my nose. In all the time I have been writing on this page, this is most assuredly the first post I have done about, you guessed it, SNOT!Solomon wrote, "To every thing there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven:" (Ecc 3:1). And, for me it's sinus/allergy season! Solomon wrote that "a time to plant" (Ecc. 3:2) and in the spring of the year I suffer with allergies as all the plants start to come in bloom. Yet, I know that through all my suffering at

I VOTED TODAY
2006-11-08 04:48:00
I VOTED TODAY Well I did my civic duty today; I voted. Of course as I sit here and look over the ballot count it seems I picked al the losers. Well, I am a Cincinnati Reds fan so I am not good a picking a winner. But, as I look over the returns what does it mean for us Christians? When the election chips don't fall where we Christians would prefer what do we do? Over in my sister state of Virginia they had a choice of making an amendment to define marriage as between a man and a woman. The actual amendment is worded like this: Shall Article I (the Bill of Rights) of the Constitution of Virginia be amended to state: "That only a union between one man and one woman may be a marriage valid in or recognized by this Commonwealth and its political subdivisions. This Commonwealth and its political subdivisions shall not create or recognize a legal status for relationships of unmarried individuals that intends to approximate the design, qualities, significance, or effe

A PAIR OF OLD SNEAKERS
2006-11-04 03:34:00
Maybe I am just weird or something; I don't know. But I have gotten to the point where I see God all around me. I know the Bible tells us, "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen" (Romans 1:20). So, yeah I see God in a beautiful sunset, or in a dark cloudy day. And, everyone has seen God through the smile or even the tears of a child. But, my condition has worsened. I mean, I have seen God in war. I have seen Him in catastrophes such as Katrina. By the way, what kind of sneakers do you have on?Of life, James wrote, "It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away" (James 4:14). And that is true. Let's say you live 75 years; that isn't a drop in the bucket to the eternity you will spend: it just a little time! And, now day and times temptations seem to lie waiting for us around every corner. God told Cain that if he didn't do right "sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou

To All The Girls I've Loved Before
2007-02-07 03:00:00
TO ALL THE GIRLS I'VE LOVED BEFORESometime back I mentioned my grandmother and the fact that she at one time ran a rest home. She ran the home well into her eighties. Her residents were not bed ridden patients, they were older women, though she did have one man once, who for whatever reason due to their old age seemed to me to have been cast aside by there families. Some may have been a bit "slow," but for the most part they could have added to any family: I thank God He allowed them to add to mine. The other grandchildren stayed away from them for the most part, but I loved them. I can remember most of them as far back as I can remember my grandmother. They were women with a mission!I remember Louise so well. She was afflicted with something; I was told that it was polio that left here in a wheel chair. Her speech was very hard to understand. Her thoughts were very coherent. I remember every Sunday after church as a very young child going to Granny's house and Louise hearing m

TWO ON, NO OUTS, TOP OF THE SIXTH
2007-02-09 02:21:00
A few years ago I had the distinct honor and privilege of coaching my niece's high school softball team. I don't want to brag, but the year before they were number two in the STATE! I took them all the way the next year to being last in the conference. The last game of the season saw a nice day. Girl's fast pitch in North Carolina plays seven innings. The sixth inning came in like a lion. Their first two batters got on. So they now had a man, uh GIRL, on first and second. My niece threw two fast balls and got ahead in the count with two strikes and no balls. From the sidelines I called the next pitch to be a knuckle ball. My niece immediately shook it off and threw a curve ball. Curve balls are wonderful pitches: WHEN THEY CURVE! This one didn't curve; it hung right over the fat part of the plate. You could tell by the crack of the bat, that it was a hard hit ball. It took a straight path to my niece standing on the pitcher's mound. It caught her right in the valley between t

A JESUS IN THE BOX
2007-02-11 03:28:00
Herman was an entomologist. He had studied bugs all his life. He caught them and then would do all the classifying. Though he studied all insects, Herman's specialty was ticks. Herman knew ticks. He had one he had studied for years. He kept it locked away in a box. The box he kept inside a steel strong box locked away inside a waterproof box, which was well hidden inside his fireproof safe in the closet. Occasionally he would tell people about his special tick and on even rarer occasions he would allow them to view the door to the closet. He knew all there was to know about this particular tick, if he had only shared his knowledge then maybe less people would have died from the disease caused by its bite. Many of us do the same thing with Jesus. We put him in a box. We get so caught up in this doctrines or that doctrine that we loose sight of Jesus. We stop following Jesus and start to become disciples of whoever has the best doctrine going. We stop saying this is what Jesus says, an

I Saw Jesus In Wal-Mart
2007-02-13 01:57:00
Recently I had to run in Wal-Mart to pick up some stuff for my mom. She was going to sit in the car and her instructions to me were as follows and I quote, "If you see anyone you know just speak and keep going" Then the instructions changed: "Don't even speak just keep going" Possessed by every weakness that makes a man a fool I asked why I couldn't even speak. Her reply was, "Because you can't do that within twenty minutes!" My mother knows her son all to well. There could be several reasons for this problem. One being the "hick" code of why say in ten words what you can say in ten thousand. But, the must likely reason is just plain and simple: I love people . Some people get bit by the love bug and fall in love with one person; well, them little suckers must have nibbled on me for quite a spell because I love all people. I don't love people so that I can have Jesus . It's quite the opposite; because I have Jesus I love people. I love to hear of the good fo

It's Valentine's Day; Let's Talk About Hate
2007-02-14 02:53:00
Well it's Valentine 's Day and I am sure every blogger in captivity will write about love. And, why not, I mean, after all Paul wrote, "And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity" (1 Corinthians 13:13). Well let them all write about love; I am going to write about hate!Mark Twain said once, "If Christ were here there is one thing he would not be--a Christian" Now, I am not sure in what context he used this quote, but he could have taken a crystal ball and looked into the future. Sometimes I wonder What Christ thinks when he looks down on the actions of Christians today.I hate it when I see people do bad things in the name of Christ. Now, I know that abortion is wrong, but when I see someone blow up an abortion clinic in the name of Christ that just irks me. If those people are our enemies, and I guess if you are going to blow them up they would be an enemy, we are supposed to love them. Jesus said in Luke 6:27 that we are to love
