Doll Maker
1970-01-01 00:59:59
If you liked to play with paper dolls as a kid then you have to check out this doll making site: Dress Up Games It's insanly addictive. I could probably spend hours working on one doll alone. There are almost limitless options. You can customize things like the body base, clothing (this has tons of options), facial features, hair style and color, make-up style and color, shoes and much more. You can even add a background. Here's a doll made using the princess theme. The best part is that once you've created a doll an HTML code is given to you so that you can use your doll on places like MySpace or as in instant messager icon. Here's a doll made using the Greek Goddess theme. It's a fun site with lots of free stuff to do and try. If you pay a small fee you can upgrade and get even more stuff to create with. Check it out if you have a chance because it really is lots of fun! If you're really into doll making the site even has "fashion shows" and contests that you can enter

An announcment

The blog entry before this was simply an experiment. I'm just trying out some Pay Per Post stuff. Please continue to think I'm awesome and not just a whore for the digital doll industry.

Adventures in Google
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I always feel a little bad when people come to my blog because they've googled something and somehow got the idea that I had information about it. So as a public service, let me answer a few google queries.PROBLEM THAT RAVEN-SYMONE HAVE FACE - Er. Hmmmm. I don't think she has a problem with her face other than it looks like her eyebrows were drawn on with a Sharpie. I'll have to look into this one further.driving when you are drunk disadventages - Well, you could die. You could kill someone. You could get arrested. Those are just a few. Now let's talk about the disadventages of using Google while being a dumbass.will standing in dog mess harm the baby when your pregnant - I'm sorry, I can't offer any help here. All I can do is imagine someone stepping in dog poop and standing there thinking "Oh no! Is this ok for the baby? I have to google this!" And seriously, unless you're up to your nose in the stuff or rubbing into open open sores, why would it hurt your baby? A

Light it up
1970-01-01 00:59:59
You know, when you live in a house as old as ours is there's always something that needs to be fixed. There's always some project that you want to get to to make your house nice, more your own. Take the light by our medicine cabinet. It's ugly. There's no two ways about it. It ugly now and I can't imagine that it was ever not ugly. What makes it even worse is that now the fixture is cracked and yellowing. It's time for an update.I found this light fixture at Shoppremier that would look great in our bathroom. Maybe even too great since the rest of our bathroom is done in a Sponge Bob theme. Oh well, they have a lot of other great bathroom lights too. With free shipping on orders over $100 I just might have to do a bit more browsing around at Shoppremier for a bunch of light fixturesThe words and opinions in this blog post are purely my own. Lessons learned
1970-01-01 00:59:59
What lessons did the kids learn yesterday? Elle learned that just because you can eat crayons does not mean that you should eat crayons. Joseph learned that no matter how upset it makes you I will not be able to stop myself from laughing if you're playing a game and you scream out to me "Mommy! My balls are out of control!"Yesterday we the 5 year anniversary of Joseph's adoption. I have a lot of ooshy-gooshy thoughts about that but I'm not able to get them organized. It's sort of overwhelming when I think about it. I'll just say (for now) that we took him out to dinner and a highlight was when he broke out him impression of me yelling at him. "This is what she sounds like on Christmas 'Joseph! Open those presents!' and this is what she sounds like on Thanksgiving 'Joseph! Eat all your stuffing!' and this is what she sounds like when we're in Scotland 'Joseph! Put on a skirt and do an Irish jig!'" Ay yi yi.

A little reading
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Elle was so happy that I cleaned the junk chair off that she decided to climb up into it.And then she did a little reading.I had a really cute picture of Joseph I was going to put up here but it was of him from the side and when I looked at it closely I realized that you could see right into his ears and they were so dirty and waxy that anyone who saw the picture might report me to Child Protective Services for letting my child walk around like that. So, there will be none of that.

Problem Girl
1970-01-01 00:59:59
"Why 'Problem Girl'?" I was recently asked. Here's why "Problem Girl".I was always a really shy kid. It wasn't too big of a problem when I was young because I still managed to make friends easily. People said I was nice and funny and that seemed to make up for the shyness. So I was always a little quiet with people I didn't know well but otherwise, it was ok.Then one day something strange happened. All of the sudden all the other little girls around started growing up. They talked about boys all the time. I couldn't figure out why the same boys we had run away from shrieking last year were now the same boys they thought were "cute" (or, in painful 80's speak "fine"). I thought the boy crazy talk was stupid and pointless. I still wanted to play Barbies. Things got worse. At a pretty young age I shot up and out and my body changed in ways that I have still not gotten 100% comfortable with. Boys started to look at me diffrently. I hated it. (I hate it still. Just bec

Taking Zicam while breastfeeding
1970-01-01 00:59:59
OK, I get like 3 or 4 hits a day from people looking to find out if it's ok to take Zcam while you are nursing. And the answer is:Don't. In fact, don't take any medication while you are nursing unless you have talked to your doctor about it first. Pretty much every medication you can take will make it's way into your breastmilk find out from your doctor if it's ok or not.And please, please, please talk to a medical proffesional about this type of thing. Don't rely on stangers on the internet to give you important information about stuff like this because most of the time they won't know what they're talking about. Thank you.

Tackle It Tuesday
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I have 4 billion things that need to be done around the house but todays TiT is a little different.Part 1: Fill out the 10,000 pieces of paperwork I need to do for Joseph's 3 year IEP re-assesment. (This is going to take a while.)Part 2: Try to get a hold of someone about getting Joseph into the Mobile Assesment Unit so that he can be seen by a group of people who can get him a diagnosis. Call the Mental Health Triage Nurse I met last night to get a formal referal to a new behavioral therapist. I also have to talk to her about accessing Family Home Therapy. (So much to do but it's all really positive stuff!)Part 3: Kick some butt. Back when I started getting into the swing of cooking dinner more regularly Jesse and I agreed that if I did the cooking he would take care of the cleaning up after. I've slowly started to notice that when I go to cook dinner now my first step has to be to clean up from last night's dinner because no one else has done it. This will not stand.Part 4

He's "helping"
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I talked to Jesse last night about how he's falling down on the job when it comes to helping with the kitchen. His excuse? "I thought cleaning up after dinner meant that I had to put the leftovers away!"Yeah. Because 30 seconds of spooning leftovers into tupperware is the kind of help I was looking for in the kitchen. Not to mention that we don't always even have leftovers. Not to mention (even further) that he doesn't even do it anyway! I put the leftovers away! Augh!In calmer, cuter nesws - Elle has recently shown a real interest in rubbing tissues and napkins on things to "clean" them. I should see if I can get her to scrub the floor.

Legal news
2007-03-01 17:50:00
Big things are happening on the surrogacy front! I just got my contract yesterday! Whoo-hoo! On Monday I'll speak with the lawyer handling the case and we'll go over the whole thing together. After that I'll sign and return the contracts and that will move us one very giant step forward. It's good to feel like some progress is being made.On the home front, there is nothing cuter in the whole wide world than when Elle looks at me with her big blue eyes and says "chock-hit?" Anyone want to guess what she's asking for?

Widget crazy
2007-03-01 17:22:00
I am a widget addict. A widget is a little, um, thing (yes, that's the technical term) that you can put on your blog or website. An example of a widget is my little Amazon Wishlist over there on my sidebar. (Hint, hint, hint.) Another great widget I've recently discovered is this Box.net Widget. You can use this widget to share pictures, videos, music and more. Here's a simple one I created of some of my forum icons just to give you an example of how it works.Get your own Box.net widget and share anywhere! The widget is really easy to make. Just browse and upload the files you want to add and the you get the code to add to your site. It's lots of fun and I could see myself sitting in front of my computer adding every icon I have. One note though, this Box.net widget is not intended for use with copywritten material, original creations only please! If you've got a blog give it a try! Blog party!
2007-03-02 15:38:00
It's time for 5 Minutes for Mom's Blog Party. It's a week long event where you can show off your blog, find new blogs to read, win prizes and have a lot of fun. If you want to get involved just click the link and head on over there to find out how.If you're here for the party then allow me to introduce myself. (I had hoped to have my super-cute new layout done but for now lets all just be happy that I'm dressed.) My name is Jen and I'm a 29 year old SAHM with a great husband and two fantastic kids. I like watching cheesy reality tv, reading, blogging, talking with friends, playing with my kids, cooking and trying to restore order to my chaotic house. Very soon I will be starting a surrogate pregnancy. I look forward to being pregnant again and this time I won't be the one changing the poopy diapers afterwards! I'm very passionate about breastfeeding, being an at home parent and parenting by choice, not by chance (that means I'm pro-choice, very, very much so.) Check out

Sledding?
2007-03-04 04:35:00
I took the kids sledding today. Ok, so we didn't really do down any hills or anything, I just pulled them around the block. Ok, not both of them. Elle tumbled out of the sled 3 times in the first two minutes and I ended up carrying her the rest of the way. And I think I broke my elbow as I was picking her up the last time because I heard a popping noise as I was lifting her and now I have a funny tingling in my hand. But otherwise we had fun. Ok, so Joseph whined the whole time after I dropped Elle off at home and took him around the block again. And instead of sitting in the sled laughing and smiling he laid down and pouted*. But otherwise it was fun.The snow we've gotten here lately is crazy! There are parts of our yard where the drifts are so high that they're taller than Elle. There must be something wrong with me as a mother because I was so tempted to drop her into one of the drifts just to see how cute she would look in her little pink snowsuit, all surrounded by sno

What day is it again?
2007-03-05 15:20:00
We can't be the only parents in the world who got their kid up, dressed, ready for school and to the school door before they realized that it's spring break right? There has to be at least one other person out there who forgot there was no school this week. Right? Please? Please don't let us be the only people that out of it.

Tackle It Tuesday
2007-03-06 16:00:00
I'm not feeling well enough to clean this week so Elle is going to help out by using the Swiffer. She just got off her shift at the hospital here. (Note the stethascope around her neck.)My tackles are mostly going to be things I can do while sitting down. 1. Get some things listed on ebay.2. Try to visit more blogs from the blog party.3. Sign and initial all 26 pages of my surrogacy contract (both copies) and get that in the mail.4. Try to use the neti pot again (read my previous post to see how that's gone in the past).I'm taking it easy today and trying to get Joseph to do the same since it seems like he has the same cold as I do. We need a vacation someplace warm and sunny! This weather is not good for children and other living things!

The fight of the century
2007-03-06 05:09:00
I own a neti pot. I've heard it said that a neti pot is the best way to clean out your sinuses and get you feeling better if you're a little bit stuffy. I have never had much success with my neti pot. Every time I ues it I just end up feeling kind of water logged. I've got a really sutffy nose right now though so I was determined to get that damned neti pot to work for me. I read and re-read the instuctions. I did a dry run through to practice my positioning. I even watched a YouTube video on how to do it. I was prepared. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you The Fight of the Century! In this corner, my nose! My right nostril is so clogged that I can't breath through it at all. I can squeeze a little air in through the left side if I really, really try. My nose had been the victor in previous battles, can it hang on to it's title? And in this corner, the neti pot! This little pot has got a lot of support from it's loyal fans but it's as of yet been unable to prove it

Hoodie vs Alli
2007-03-05 20:52:00
Maybe you've heard about the weight loss drug Alli that's going to be coming out soon. Maybe you've heard that it has a couple of less than desirable side effects. Maybe you've even heard that one of the side effects is an "oily discharge from a loose stool". Um. Ok, that's gross. If you're looking for a weight loss pill why not look into Hoodia? Here's a site that give you all the facts when it comes to Hoodia verses Alli for weight loss. I'm sure it contians all the information you need on oily discharge and how to prevent it.So, what have we learned today? 1. To check out the Hoodia site for more information and 2. To not let anyone taking Alli sit on our couches. Thank you.The words and opinions in this blog post are purely my own. This post was sponsored by PayPerPost.

Single moms
2007-03-07 17:21:00
I've got a review of another dating site for you. This one is just for single moms and dads. It's called (as you might guess) singlemomsanddads.com.I checked the site out and it seems really easy to use and navigate. You can do a general search based on who's in your local area or a more specific search based on things like interests, body type, religion, marital status and more. You can join the site for free but you don't even have to be a member to search through pictures.Just by browsing around the site it seems like the women outnumber the men aby about 10 to 1. So if you're single (or married I guess) and looking to meet someone (with kids) then give singlemomsanddads.com a try. I won't cost you anything just to look and you never know who you might find! The words and opinions in this blog post are purely my own. This post was sponsored by PayPerPost.

Hips Don't Lie
2007-03-07 00:55:00
It should really be against the law for kids to be this cute. In case you can't tell they're dancing to Hips Don't Lie by Shakira. Ignore that dork laughing in the background. She has a cold.Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share PhotosI just found out that the reason Joseph was shaking his elbows around like that was because got the words "hips" and "elbows" confused. As people sometimes do. I love how Elle wanders off at the end because she was distracted by something she found on the floor. Probably something shiny.

Just Say Hi
2007-03-06 22:30:00
Do your interests include long walks on the beach, sitting by a fire, home cooked meals and saving money? If you're a thrifty single person you might want to check out JustSayHi.com. JustSayHi.com is a 100% free dating service. How do they do it when other sites charge so much? I don't know. And I don't want to spend too much time checking it out in case Jesse looks at my web history and then wonders why I was checking out a dating site. But if you're single and looking for love (and cheap - not that there's anything wrong with that!) then check out JustSayHi.Who knows, maybe Mr Right is there waiting for you. And since he saved so much on the dating service he should be able to afford a nice dinner for you.The words and opinions in this blog post are purely my own. This post was sponsored by PayPerPost.

Homeschooling, Unschooling and other crazy things people do
2007-03-10 20:16:00
As we get closer to the time when Joseph will enter 1st Grade (or real school as I think of it) I'm starting to wonder if the school he's in now is really the right place for him. His teacher this year is great and so is his IEP case manager. What if that's not the case next year? What if he has another great teacher but she's just too busy and overwhelmed to give him the attention he needs on a daily basis? What if she's terrible and doesn't know how to deal with his behavior? So I've been thinking about some other options.Homeschooling I don't think I could do this. I dont' have the skills needed to make Joseph sit down and learn. There are days when I think I don't even have the skills to deal with him just during regular day to day stuff. (Note to self - does this mean that I'm used school as a way to get Joseph out of the house and out of my hair for a few hours a day? Probably. I can live with that.) I know that homeschooling has it advantages but one thing it

A twofer! This is what I get when I say "Joseph, look right at me when I take a picture of you!"Ignore the messy face. Sometimes it just takes my breath away to look at her.Ok, so it wasn't wordless. Let's just call it Not Many Words Wednesday .

Not much new
2007-03-14 15:19:00
There's not really much going on around here these days. The most exciting thing I can think of to tell you is that I had a dream last night that I went fishing with Simon from American Idol. He had to bait my hook for me because I didn't know how to do it. Then later we ate the fish we caught and he let me be a guest judge on American Idol. That's pretty ironic since in real life last night I was just laughed at for not knowing how American Idol worked. Anyway, that's the most interesting thing I could think of to tell you so if you're going to read further you might want to bring along something to entertain yourself.I managed to somehow miss an appointment with Joseph's pychatrist last week. Those appointments are impossible to get too. I was just kicking myself. I'll make another one today while we're there for speech and OT but who knows how long it will be before I can get him in. Augh, not my best mom moment.I also managed to miss a call from the surrogacy agenc
