Dancing Horse Sulphide circa Late 1800s 2008-03-15 02:10:00 This rare handmade German "donut hole" sulphide measures 1 9/16". Donut hole refers to the area of the figure with no clay. Donut hole sulphides are hard to make because the glass must be folded completely over the figure. Thus, because of the folding, it's also quite rare to find them without air bubbles. Fisher Jewel Trays by VItro Agate Company 2008-03-14 12:33:00 Patented in 1936, this set of two jewel trays was made by Vitro Agate
Company. The larger "master tray" has turquoise marbles, while the smaller tray, which is pictured resting inside the master tray, is circled in black marbles. The smaller tray also has the stamped seal from the 1939 New York World's Fair. Read more:Fisher

Beginning with offhand glass blowing at California State University, Chico. He then moved to San Diego, CA where he began a lampworking apprenticeship with Kaj Beck in 1999. In the summer of 2000, Josh returned to the Chico area where he pursued a career as a glass artist. Josh studied marble making with Jack Hanshaw, and over the next three years has focused primarily on marbles and hollow forms. In 2003, Josh moved back to San Deigo continuing his focus on Contemporary glass marbles.

began his adventure into the glass world in January of 1999 with a simple apprenticeship making pendants and small vessels. Along with the teachings of his mentor and the advice of many friends and colleagues also involved in glass, Ben's abilities to manipulate the medium increased quickly! Ben was lucky enough to take a workshop with master artist Robert Mickelsen in 2002, which opened up new worlds of possibilities! From there, it was onward and upward. With the constant support of his family, Ben was able to take an extended trip to Murano, in Venice, Italy, where he studied with world renowned maestro Lucio Bubacco in his studio. Atlanta Star Marbles 2008-04-02 10:02:00 The story goes that these "porcelain" marbles are from the Civil War era and were dug up while excavating in the City of Atlanta
in preparation for the Olympics. However, the story is a hoax, and curiously enough, these 3/4" marbles appear to be painted steel balls. I'd throw them away, but they actually make me smile. Who knows, maybe I'll still throw them away?! :) Read more:Marbles

Peliter Root Beer Float 2008-04-08 13:28:00 A "Root Beer Float", an uncommon and popular Peltier Banana was made on October 27, 1988, by Peltier worker George Zellers. This marble has a dark amber base with a white vein and measures 7/8". About 7,000 of these were made. From the collection of Matt Reilly.
