Robot Barbie Never Looked So Good 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Every time I hear or read something about Hussein Chalayan, his spring/summer 2007 line pops into my head (especially the oddly cute dress on the left). The collection brought me back to when I was a little girl playing with my barbies. The colors weren't the typical hot pinks and purples that Barbie
typically adorns, but the doll inspired make-up and robotic movements of the models reminded me of perhaps, the barbies of the future. The line was full of all the typical S/S 07 color trends (e.g. lilacs, pale pinks, black & white, yellow, metallics, etc.) I also think the super flowy fabrics, big floppy hats (that's the technical term), and ultra low v-necks are completely swoon-worthy. You can see the entire show here. Read more:Robot

Charmed and Dangerous 1970-01-01 00:59:59 "Chelsea, I found this really cool jewelry company. They have those charm necklaces you like so much. It's called...ummm. Charm something." This is the type of conversations my sister and I have on a regular basis. It's quite obvious from some of my previous posts that we have horrible memories, but a great eye for cool things. Blythe actually did end up finding the name of the company, sent it to me, and now, I officially have another favorite jewelry designer that I will continuously myspace stalk (I love stalkspace!) in the hope that they will have new items. The company is called (dramatic pause) Charmed
and Dangerous and they have really great handmade stuff. The designer Sally Daner has always loved the craft of jewelry making but started off making bookmarks with her company "Hookmarks". Later (six years to be exact) she returned to her first love of jewelry making and started "Charmed and Dangerous".You can read about updates on the Charmed and Dangerous blog, add them as you
I just got color blocked 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I obsess easily, and my new obsession—color block clothes. There's a burst of excitement I get when I know I'm wearing at least 3 different colors on one item of clothing (and it's not totally vomit-worthy). It's like the old Sweetarts ad where the little girl is prim and proper on one side and crazy on the other, except this is 152.6 times better without having two different hair styles (not cute). I'm no good at fitting in and these pieces will certainly keep all eyes on me. Pick up your jaws and check this gear out.
I love Captain Jack 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I'm not exactly sure what it is, but I love nautical themed clothing. Perhaps it's my love of the ocean. Or more likely, my undying love for the Pirates of the Caribbean. Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom--(sigh). I still can't get enough of anchor and skull jewelry, but there are other great styles that can help you seduce Jack Sparrow get that perfect pirate look.Has anyone else noticed that stores seem to stock up on nautical items before each Pirates of the Caribbean movie comes out? With the next installment, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, set to release May 25, the big question is how will YOU wear nautical without looking like you're about to go to the closest pier and jump ship? With all the fabulous new dresses this season, you're bound to find one that'll make sure you're the only wench the captain takes below deck. Get Waisted! 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Belts are a definite necessity in life (especially for guys who insist on wearing ginormous pants), but no longer do we have to settle for the typical black or brown belt. More and more the width of the belts being sold is increasing (so long 1 1/2", hello 3"-4"). With the increasing production of clothing with and empire waist, belts are a must have. Now is the time to pair your favorite over-sized red belt with a cute, long white tee. Belts don't have to just keep up your pants anymore, they can merely be used for aesthetic purposes a.k.a. accentuating your tiny waist or making it look like you have a tiny waist. Belts may in fact be the perfect accessory!NOTE: You can also get great inexpensive belts from Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe.
It's more fun to be a "MissFit" 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Everyday I compulsively check a list of about 25 stores I have saved in my favorites. One of those stores is Ravin Style. Ravin Style carries tons of really unique clothes perfect for the indie lover in everyone. On my latest visit, I found these superb hand-painted t-shirts from a designer called MissFit. I looked everywhere to find out more about this clothing company, but came up short. I still love the shirts, so I'm going to feature them anyway. The shirts feature paintings of everything from Marilyn Monroe's lips to a portrait of Bob Marley. Whether you're the t-shirt type or not, there's no denying the artistic appeal these shirts posses.NOTE: If anyone knows where I can get more info on MissFit, PLEASE leave a comment. Thanks!
Pink=Love 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I am extremely surprised I have gone this long having a fashion blog called Pink Rock Candy and not saying one word about pink clothing. Of course I have shown different pink pieces, but pink hasn't ever been the topic of conversation. When I was younger, I was the girl who wouldn't be caught dead in pink. I think I may have been traumatized by the matching pink frocks my mom and grandmother insisted on picking for my sister and I. If you were to tell me 8 years ago I would come very close to obsessing about pink clothing I'm sure I would have laughed in your face (actually it would have been more of a snicker or school girl giggle). For me, the anticipation of warmer days is building and I'm slowly climbing out of my winter rut of neutrals. More and more, I am assimilating brighter colors back into my wardrobe and pink is definitely one of them. So, in keeping the the blog title lets rock candy pink (or just normal pink).

He Ended up a Winner 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I can't wait until the next season of Project Runway, but I guess finding out past contestant Nick Verreos is a guest designer for a well known prom dress store, Windsor Store, will have to do. To be completely honest, when I saw the dresses he designed I was fairly unimpressed, or as Micheal Kors would say "underwhelmed". It kills me to say this because I loved him on Project Runway, but I saw other dresses on the site that I liked a whole lot more. To make things fair, I also have to admit I was the pickiest prom dress shopper ever. I didn't want anything plain, but I didn't want anything that was too gaudy with ruffles and sequins and shimmies. Though I'm not too into his prom dresses, I do currently lurk his blog every once in a while. He talks about all his current activities and all the great runway shows he gets to go to. Take a peep at some of the dresses in his prom collection:NOTE: These dresses aren't shipped until 2/15/07, but you can pre-order them now.
Marc Bouwer Collection 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I have fallen head over heels for the Fall 2007 Marc Bouwer line. Every gown was absolutely fabulous. I the empire waists and mini dresses swarmed the runway, but in my opinion the rulers of the runway were the floor length gowns. Don't get me wrong, I do get all giddy for the minis. I'm always one to push the boundaries on how far down the v-neck should go and how high my skirt should stop, but there was something about the elegance of the longer gowns that stick with you. Marc Bouwer has always been known for the form-fitting couture gowns, silky fabrics and intricate details, but until this year I was never extremely drawn to his collections. After seeing one dress I knew I wanted to see the rest of the collection, and I'm so happy I took the time to look. Here's some of my favorites.PHOTO CREDIT: WireImage.com
The Truth Heart Red Dress Collection 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Everyone from First Lady Laura Bush to makeup artist Bobbi Brown were at the TruthHeart
Red Dress fashion show yesterday. This is always one of my favorite fashion shows because the models aren't usually models. This year the list of models included TV personallity Kelly Ripa and tennis legend Billie Jean King. The women that strutted their stuff down the runway are great inspirations and proove you don't have to be ultra skinny to be beautiful. Here are some of my favorite models and dresses from the show:American Idol runner-up Katharine McPee donned an uber short dress by Swarovski. The first time I saw her, I didn't recognize her. I think I see a little butt cleavege in the second picture.Tennis phenom Billie Jean King was wearing a pants suit by Gustavo Cadile. If you don't know who Billie Jean King is you need to google her. She's such a great role-model for women.Kelly Ripa is so cute, and her husband is absoultely gorgeous. I love this Diane von Furstenberg dress she's w
Has that Fine Line Been Crossed? 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I have no idea what Alexandre Herchcovitch was thinking, but I'm going to be optimistic and say it was so brilliant it has gone over every one's head. I honestly don't understand the appeal of garbage bags and straw hats. It was okay when that was a challenge on Project Runway, but this is real life, not reality TV. Right now I'm so astounded I don't think I can even think of some witty back-handed compliment to shoot him, so if you want that you can read what the Fug Girls wrote about the show. Meanwhile, make up your own decision. Genius or Insanity?PHOTO CREDIT: WireImage.com
The Most Bestest Barbie Ever 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Zac Posen is not only my favorite clothing designer, he is my new favorite Barbie
creator. Mr. Posen officially has create a Barbie (based on his sister Alexandra) equipped with mini couture and all. The Barbie has long red hair and dons a gorgeous belted violet-blue gown guaranteed to make any fashionista a little green with envy. If a Barbie wearing a Zac Posen dress isn't enough to make you jealous, maybe the little fact that the dress is silk will. I for one wish I was this Barbie. The Barbie also comes as a set with a Zac Posenesque Ken, a mini version of Zac's bestie/puppy Tina, and of course all the must have design studio accoutrement including a mini bulletin board and fabric. Oh, and before I forget this fab giftset also comes with the lofty price tag of (wait for it) $300. Even though it cost an arm and a leg (or maybe just a perfectly place patch of ice infront of a big business), I sort of wish it was socially acceptable for a 18 year old girl to have Barbies. You can bu
The best Head Trip 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I may have a tiny obsession with headbands. Everytime I go shopping, I end up picking up at least one new headband. I even learned to knit ths winter so I could make a cute head scarf. There's something about how my hair looks in a headband. It's punk meets Bridgette Bardot. I don't leave the house without something aroung my head anymore. Do you think there's a 12 step program for this?
Boom "Chica Boom" 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I found this great online clothing store called Chica
Boom. They currently have a few different lines. One is a pirate themed line, which makes me want to go pillage or something. There is the most stylin' heart hoodie. It's perfect for Valentine's Day. (Who needs a valentine when you have a cute hoodie?) Chica Boom also has an amazingly cute cheetah print hoodie on sale. Even Seventeen agrees this is a store to keep an eye on. Some of their clothing as been seen in the August 2006 and February 2007 issues.
More Project Runway Stuff! 1970-01-01 00:59:59 So for those who didn't know, the last ProjectRunway
winner Jeffrey Sebelia's clothing company is and has been called (it's not a new thing) Cosa Nostra. But that's beside the point, I was cruising through Ron Herman Online and I saw this incrediblely cute dress (yes cute, don't kill me Jeffrey). I'm on a stripes binge right now, so the striped bust and empire waist made me swoon. The dress also has a great tiered ruffle skirt that I love love love. After reading the very informative write up, I found out Jeffrey named the dress after "the most magnificent orchid species in the world", the Angraecum. (Hey Jeffrey, that's really sweet. Where's the edge?) Actually it made me want to lurk him a little more and I ended up adding him as a friend on Myspace. So if you love Jeffrey as much as I do and haven't already added him you can check out his profile here. I miss Project Runway!

Sass & Bide 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Though the "Bide" was missing from Sass & Bide this year, the collection was still amazing. Heidi Middleton(Bide) was absent because of that pesky thing people call pregnancy, but Sarah-Jane Clark(Sass) was still there to represtent. I have always loved the Sass & Bide style. It's very "I'm perfect, but I won't admit it." I think that is the best attitude to have in any situation. It seems that not one outfit came down the runway without a pair of black or white tights, which I feel is good for my wallet because black tights were in abundance this winter too. I also loved the layered vest look and of course all the mini dresses. I'm getting really excited for fall, and that usually never happens. As usual, here's some of my favorites:PHOTO CREDIT:WireImage.com

I Can't Help but Love It 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I have to take a break from fashion week and tell you guys about this fantastic designer Wendy Mullin. Wendy created her line of women's and men's clothing called Built by Wendy in 1991. Though she had been making clothing for almost four years, Wendy became well known for her guitar straps in the mid-90s. After she gained this notoriety, Wendy was able to expand on her first love of clothing making and opened her first store in "Little Italy" in 1998, and in 2005 she was able to open two more stores in Brooklyn and Los Angeles. Not only does Wendy make great clothes for men and women, she makes baby clothes, wrote her own sewing book called Sew U, and designed a line of sewing patterns with Simplicity called "Built by YOU".Wendy's spring line is chock full of ultra-cute nautical style clothing. It's ever so apparent how drawn I am to this style of clothing so you can understand my excitement when I found Built by Wendy. Though the entire collection doesn't come out until 2/15/07,

Poor Isaac! 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Though Isaac
Mizrahi has been traveling around in a wheelchair all of fashion week, it didn't stop him from showing one of my favorite collections. This may be my biased opinion, but when I saw the collection I swooned. I love the floral pattern he used on some of his pieces, I also love the butter yellow color, though I'm not sure if I could pull it off. As usual there was tons of gray and black pieces. I'm sure my mom will be thrilled she loves gray. I think many of the colors in his fabrics were fairly springy though. There were lots of pastels including the butter yellow I talked about. All I have to say is "Clap for him, clap for him."The only pieces I wasn't truly smitten over were the feathery pieces and the gray onesie.I've actually seen a couple of onesies come down the runways, and I can honestly say "thumbs down."
