One of those women is my good friend Aja Stubbs the founder and editor of Belle Noir, a ezine dedicated to “to promote the positive image of Big Beautiful Women of Color by featuring content (i.e. articles, poetry, photos, etc.) of an informative, entertaining, and inspiring nature, created specifically with the Big Beautiful Woman of Color in mind.” Back in 2003 when Mode magazine folded there print version and went online Aja decided that she wanted to do a ezine of her own and eventually take it to print. I just received an email from Liria Mersini from About Plus-Size Fashion she has some exciting news and was kind enough to share it with her readers. She is going to be involved in a lot and I am just as excited for her as she is about doing it. Normally I don’t get to technical in my writing, but since I know that there are still a few people that are new to blogging I find that sharing some of the tools that I use to bring you the content I do can be helpful. Some of these I have been using since day one others are new. Overall they are good tools to use in order to find quality content dealing with plus size fashion or anything else. Google - There are several tools to be used by Google. The first is Google itself. Putting in a question about your topic brings back sites related to your keyword. Yahoo and MSN will also give you results but in my opinion they are not as comprehnsive as Google is. Bras that light up the night

While going though my feeds I came across an interesting article on SizeNet about some interesting bras. When I clicked the link to the site I must say my eyebrow rasied at the thought of being out somewhere and seeing ladies blouses and dresses blinking back at me becasue they had light s embedded in them. They are correctly named the “nervebra”. A lady would have to have some cool nerves to go out to a party or other event with her breasts blinking. I think it would be fun for a Halloween or New Year’s Eve event but thats about it. It’s not like they carry bras big enough for most full figured ladies but if they did would you wear one? The price range for the bras are as little as $90 and as much as $600. When I think about how much my wife used to spend on everyday bras I can’t see her spending that much money on a novelty item. One of the things that I hear about often and have written about is “what style jeans should a full-figured woman wear?” For some larger ladies the thought of putting on a pair of jeans is right next to getting a tooth pulled with a pair of pliers its just not something pleasant. Plus size fashion house upset at Fashion Week organizers

Francesco Casile, the organizer of Plusize, a trade fair for producers of clothes for plus sizes was not happy with not being included in the Milan Fashion week events. Casile contends that the necessary paperwork was submitted on time but the even organizers say that it wasn’t. Why am I not surprised by something like this? Though Velvet D’Amour made headlines when she walked the runways last year it is still evident that in the world of fashion modeling plus sizes are still not as welcome as there smaller counterparts. The Italian National Fashion Chamber adopted last year a measure that stating that Models must have a BMI of 18. If they are six feet (1.83 meters) tall and weighing less than 135 pounds (61 kilograms), for example they will be banned from modeling, as well as anyone under age 16. In the two years that I have been writing about plus size clothing and accessories it has gotten easier than ever to buy trendy clothing thanks to the internet and to manufacturers realizing that they where missing out on a slice of a multi-billion dollar pie. Though it is easier there are still some challenges that full figured men and women must deal with when it comes to shopping for clothing. It doesn’t have to be hard if you use a few helpful tips before you start. Know your size. I know that this may sound silly but not knowing your size can cause a lot of wasted time and effort when it comes to shopping. Go to a seamstress or high end merchant and be measured from head to toe. Keep those measurements handy when its time to shop. Shop off season. I have written about the BBW Vegas Bash as well as things related to plus size travel, but I didn’t expect to be able to turn on my television and be able to see the behind the scences action in Vegas. To determine your correct bra and cup size, you will need a tape measure, in inches. If you prefer to do it out by hand, read and follow the instructions below. You will need a tape measure (preferably paper) in inches, and a pencil. (Optimally, you should be wearing your most comfortable bra when the following measurements are done, though this is not mandatory.) There are 2 variables we need to determine to correctly find your bra and cup size. These variables are your frame size and your chest+breast size. Keep in mind, however, that determining your bra and cup size is no an exact science. If you find you should be wearing a 34 C, but a 32 B fits you better, obviously get the more comfortable one! 1. Determine Frame & Bra Size The frame size is the diameter around your chest JUST BELOW your breasts. Using the tape measure, measure around your ribcage directly under your breasts.
