International Women's Day
2008-03-07 22:53:06
today is Smiley Saturday (hosted by Lightening) ... and most importantly it is International Women 's DayThe day remains an official holiday in Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cameroon, China, Cuba, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam, and is observed by men giving the women in their lives - mothers, wives, girlfriends, colleagues, etc., flowers and small gifts. In some countries it is also observed as an equivalent of Mother's Day, where children also give small presents to their mothers and grandmothers. (source :Wikipedia)Wow - *sigh* not in my house !Though, I humbly admit, my husband treats me pretty well every day, better than I treat him. He isn'

Yesterday, I told you about the great blog party going on all week long starting today 12.01am Eastern time USA?I have been seeing it around for the past two weeks. Today, I just had enough time to wash my hair and to put on my sweat pants fancy dress before one of the little monsters woke up and head on over at the last minute.Janice and Susan of 5 Minutes for Mom are the hosts The idea is to get out meet new bloggers and have some traffic fun!In my haste I did forget to mention that there are prizes to be given out to everyone that participates and that almost 1000 women joined in last year ? Well, where are my manners? My name is Trish (Babyamore - cause I know so many Trish bloggers) . Welcome to my humble blog, I’m delighted that you are here.I live in the Sydney, New South W

Are You Coming to The Ultimate Blog Party 2008
2008-03-06 20:06:40
Well tomorrow (8 mins for me in Oz) is the official start of the Ultimate Blog Party over at 5 Minutes For Mom.Everyone is going and everyone is invited! ... as long as you are a woman! This is definitely my kind of party. I am not much of a party-goer, and who would invite me with my tag along 'twister' twins . So any event that allows me to stay at home in my Pj's or trackies with the Brothers, while hanging out with some cool new friends sounds like paradise to me !Some days I feel like I am just cleaning up after having a party every day with all the food I eat and the mess the Brothers make with the people I get to chat to online... The best thing about this party is you can win prizes.I am also looking forward to meeting lots of new people ... though my reader is bursting at the sea

Blogger in draft Scheduled Post - Future dated
2008-03-04 20:32:12
Just a quick one...I often write a few posts in advance especially when I know I have a busy week planned. Other times I get inspired by something so I will leave it sitting in draft until I need it.For quite a while I've wanted to write a post now and have it automatically published at some time in the future. I heard a little bit about this feature for Blogger in the blogosphere and today I went Googling.I am pleased to say that this feature is ready for you to try out on Blogger in draft.I have been following Skelliewag for a while - No 1 in list of Top 100 Australian Women Bloggers (click on the pink map of Australia)Skelliewag has so many valuable tips and she shares them willingly. What is so thankful about toddlers ...It is way past my bedtime and I am so tired after less than 5 hrs broken hours broken sleep last night (my fault staying up late reading my RSS feeds and demand nursing, twins, in middle of the night ... any advice on night weaning ???).I (we all) had to be up early to take J for a renal ultrasound to check how his kidney reflux is ..We get there through morning peak traffic crawl . Menu Planning & Mother's HoT Tips
2008-03-04 18:19:46
7 Mother's HoT Tips - flip a coin LOL1.The Perfect Mother's way:Stuff miniature marshmallow in the bottom of a sugar cone to prevent ice-cream drips. The Busy Mum's way: Just suck the ice-cream out of the bottom of the cone for Pete's sake. You are probably lying on the couch with your feet up eating it anyway!!2.The Perfect Mother's:To keep potatoes from budding, place an apple in the bag with the potatoes.Busy Mum's: Buy a packet of DEB (instant potato flakes) and keep it in the cupboard for up to a year.3.The Perfect Mother's:When a cake recipe calls for flouring the baking tin, use a bit of the dry cake mix instead and there won't be any white mess on the outside of the cake.Busy Mum's: Woolworth sell cakes. They even do decorated versions.4.The Perfect Mother's:If you accidentally

I love Saturday because it is time to tell you guys what made me smile this week.My little boys ... aka the Brothers -since they are 20 months old today and not really babies anymore (thanks to Jano @ Sidetalks sweet little girl,S for giving me this idea -she has twin boys too)They make my heart sing every day and my hair turn grey er!I could sing their praises all night ... they share mostly everything and if one picks up the two kiddy golf sticks they take one to their brother... I mean to share not hit them LOL.Sunday we stopped to buy Hungry jacks drive thru- the 'brothers' were asleep. J was woke up and we were feeding him fries (from the front seat) - then I noticed him sharing them with S , placing fries near his hands and down the side of S's seat. Aww so cute !They both love

J eats everything we eat mostly- but not his brother - well actually he does taste him daily (bites) but you know what I mean !Tuesday : Spaghetti Bolognaise one of my family's favorite meal - everyone eats this (complete with hidden grated carrots/zucchini/mushrooms and even red Lentils if I am really sneaky.)Wednesday:Beef Stroganoff, steamed vegetables and Rice (cause S only eats rice)Thursday:Chicken Schnitzel, potato bake and salad (plus rice side dish and peas for J - he likes peas)Friday:Lite Honey Mustard chicken, steamed vegetables and Rice (again cause S like

Saving money ...Thursday Thirteen
2008-02-22 05:34:32
Since S & J our twins were born we have pretty much gone back to a single income. It is our own business but we can hardly afford to pay me much when we have to pay other people do half the jobs I used to do.Not counting playing Solitaire before I discovered online forums.I made sure there is no internet there nowOver the past few months, I noticed that there are many blogs with money saving ideas included in daily tidbits. My new aim is to spend some time each day engaged in some sort of activity intended to cut costs.I am fortunate we can hang clothes out on the line to dry, I use modern cloth nappies, cloth wipes, read store junk mail and so forth to find weekly specials. I haven't done a good analysis yet on the latter.Starting next month, at the end of the month I hope to see the

This morning as my husband left for work I observed this P ... not used on pee or poo but played with.No ,it wasn't on my watch ...he left the door open. Yesterday they got into both bathrooms but the paper was near the end of the roll. No such chance today. At least they didn't throw it in the bathtub of water like last week. That would have p'd me off.

Green ...
2008-03-11 09:21:50
My favourite Green H o T tips When shopping look for products that come in a reusable container or one you can recycle. Also products with minimal packaging.Use rechargeable batteries especially in high maintenance items kids toys and radios.Change your party habits - use washable plates and cups or next best paper - ditch the plastic disposable stuff or at least reduce the use of it - wash and re-use things like cutlery again. Repair more things rather than throwing them away automatically - if the fault is minor or fixable and you can't be bothered live with it offer it up on Freecycle(It is Worldwide) -someone might be able to use them as spare parts.Use Less washing powder - unless the load is really grubby half as much works (even on really cr@ppy cloth nappies ).Consider that a F

Why breastfeed toddlers ?
2008-03-08 21:46:33
As many of my regular readers know I continue to breastfeed my twin sons @ 20 months old. I plan to continue as long as mutually desirable.I know my brother disapproves . Even last night my MIL said to me she did 'I' think 'S ' would start to eat more if I stopped breastfeeding. This is what my brother says too LOL. The stock market 'guru' whose infant nutrition degree fell out of the Kellogg's box.Given that J my other twin eats mostly everything and always has a great appetite -but still breastfeeds - why would it make any difference ?I wouldn't exactly call myself a Lactivist - (see this sweatshirt for the definition- click the image to check out Attached at the Hips full range) but I believe breastfeeding was the right choice for me and for my children. They have benefited from bein
