A Fairy Tale - A blessing
2008-03-14 07:14:52
Once upon a time ... it was another busy day that started at 7.50am when the poo hit the fan with Daddy Bear & Big bother Brother bear sleeping in.Rush, bang ... scream, yell - ! Daddy Bear had to drive BB bear to school because of course he missed the bus.Mummy Grizzly bear had slept in too as her little alarms haven't been sleeping so well so they were sleeping in too.Mummy bear was busy herself as she had to go to a meeting at 10am and had things to get ready - especially the two little brother bear things and drop them off on the way at the little bear sitters. Plus she had to get the Teddy Love Club teddies ready for their special delivery.Mummy bear was very stressed because she was running late and couldn't find the LB bear s' shoes and other important things. OK....... let's talk about my baby the middle Brother - S ... aka Twin 1I believe that Murphy's goal this week was to push me over the edge and turn my hair gray er ! with sickness and medical appointments. It was a bad week . Looking back over the first twenty months I guess it really should not have been a surprise to me S has been so well - they both have (excepting for J's diagnosis of VUR urinary reflux). We have hardly needed to see the GP.All this last week my little guy S has had temperatures up to 39 plus and it was over 40 degrees Tuesday night and 39.7 still last night at midnight.Today, he has finally had no fever after starting antibiotics...We have been to GP three times and Accident & Emergency twice (though it was neither an accident or emergency). Yesterday, we asked

... or Funny things kids say ? This morning I took the Brothers to the playgroup held at our local church. It is held in the huge Church 'education' building at the rear. The Church also has an historic sandstone building at the front and an old school house in the middle. At the end of playgroup the children ride their bikes & trikes outside on the cement paths and around the school house - concrete pathways while the parents have their coffee/tea and cake.I was checking on J because I couldn't see him and I was worried he might head off down past the old church to the road.I knew he was probably behind the school house slowly 'putting' along on his trike.A little boy, 2 yrs old, comes past me on his trike .My ears p rick pick up "hey a s s h 0 l e " ... Especially, one that you felt deserved all the laughs love in the world but, sadly...you didn't have many readers ...so it was ignored. Well, maybe not completely.A few may have commented but...not your blog posse and new friends!Zen Thoughts - 2Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, forI may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. 52 blessings to be grateful for on Friday
2008-03-20 16:35:00
Good Friday is a special day not just another public holiday. As a Christian, I remember the price paid for me.Today, I'm grateful that the Son of God died for me.It is as simple as that. He opened the gate so anyone can enter. If I could wish anything at all for my friends this would be it ...An Irish Blessing for you now (since there is a bit of Irish in me LOL)May there always be work for your hands to do (and somewhere to put your feet up at the end of the day).May your purse always hold a coin or two (and a few notes).May the sun always shine on your windowpane (and a breeze blowing in).May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.May the hand of a friend always be near you (hold them tight).May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.May there also be a song in your heart , a da

Wordless Wednesday - what do you see ?
2008-03-26 00:11:15
More than likely you said, 'A bird in the bush,'! and. ....... if this IS what YOU said, then you failed to see that the word THE is repeated twice! Sorry, look again. You may not see it at first, but the white spaces read the word optical, the blue landscape reads the word illusion. Look again! Can you see why this painting is called an optical illusion? What do you see here?In black you can read the word GOOD, in white the word EVIL (inside each black letter is a white letter). It's all very physiological too, because it visualize the concept that good can't exist without evil (or the absence of good is evil). Now, what do you see? This one is quite tricky! The word TEACH reflects as LEARN. Last one. What do you see? You probably read the word ME in brown, but.......when

Twin birth ...
2008-03-24 22:00:01
My first birth was sadly induced after my precious little girl died in utero @26weeks.Bittersweet heartache and tears - I wrote her story but not her actual 'birthing' story. That is for another day.I wrote this over 18 months ago after S & J were born.Birth for me did not go to plan either time.1st August was the official due date ~40wks. Due to 'twins' and breech my caesarean section was booked for 14th July . It couldn’t come quick enough.my cousin about 30 weeks -me @ 34 weeks During 35th - 36th week I was feeling very uncomfortable. I wasn’t sleeping much and was very tired. It was also the first week I hadn’t worked. My SIL had come down from Queensland to work for us (as her missionary mission’). It was good timing.I was feeling a little itchy at times and in the back of

Easter 2008
2008-03-24 07:53:38
Phew - Easter flew by in flash and boy did I miss my Internet connection (but my DH didn't)On the upside I read 2 books, one a 440 page on an Aussie outback mystery drama and the other a Patricia Cornwall horror mystery(no more leaving the windows open)We travelled 390 kms to Dubbo - Grandpa's 1100 acre farmwith grazing cattle and a few bulls.Very small by comparison to the large outback ones I read about in my book of 100,000 acres.A little family reunion becoming a tradition with 16 of our clan and a ringin' DS's friend. Plus a few day visitors one day.My sister in law, nephew and niece traveled from Queensland for Easter. Our trip there was a good run ... the Sydney SIL & BIL were supposed to follow us because the farm is hard to find in the dark. Then he decided not to wait for

52 blessings ...Grateful Friday
2008-03-28 08:21:04
... I grateful for my Friends - today I had a play date with some friends (who I met, after my daughter died, at a pregnancy loss support group) - we have all lost babies and gone through subsequent pregnancies with little ones today from 6 months to 2 yrs ... and one lady B has three weeks to go with her surprise bundle. The Brothers love the play centre we went to. It was lovely to cuddle a sweet little girl and have her munch on my fingers and raisin toast. Two of my oldest (though younger than me) and dearest school friends emailed me to say they had been thinking about me and wanted to catch up - it made my day.I am also grateful that a very precious little girl Ivy is on the mend after being very ill the last few days. I have known this baby girl since she was a line on pee stick and s

Thursday Thirteen - Brilliant Insults 101 ...
2008-03-26 21:52:38
I came across this gem the other day @ Psychoprogs - Things you would like to say at work, but can't !It is brilliant !!!Some of them would be useful anywhere, anytime ... you want to get your teeth kicked in ! to get your point across to some ass hat as nicely as possible without resorting to violence. These are my favourite thirteen but because I don't work in an office at the moment ,the Brothers won't understand and my husband ignores anything rude I say I really am a nice person I won't get to use them much ... I don’t know what your problem is, but I’ll bet it’s hard to pronounce. How about never? Is never good for you? I’m really easy to get along with once you people learn to see it my way. I’ll try being nicer if you’ll try being smarter. I’m out of my min

Another pink edition of Smiley Saturday hosted by Lightening. It was a week of highs and lows as my other little darling has been unwell this week with high temperatures up to 41 degrees. Phone Etiquette and fools
2008-04-01 08:10:22
Heads - Fool , Foolish, Foolhardy~ 1st April ~ or 'whatever' I hate it when my teen says that to meThe other day I was blog hopping by clicking on links and came across this one on Phone Manners and the joys of telemarketers by Red Neck Mommy. It reminded me of my own foolish misadventure...when I was sweet sixteen and butter wouldn't melt in my mouth. The Preface ...We had a detached Granny flat ~where my Nana (Dad's mum) lived for 4 years . She was divorced but had remarried. My dad built it for her and she lived there for 5 yrs while nursing her 2nd husband through cancer -then after he passed away she met a new man and they got together. My parents then rented the little flat to various relatives and friends - my uncles, the neighbours' son's girlfriend, Mum's best friend and her sons.

52 blessings to be grateful for on Friday
2008-04-04 08:18:29
March has flown and here we are - Friday again. Where did my week go ?This week I am so grateful, most importantly, that my little boy J's BrainMRI was all clear after a stressful and agonising 2 week wait. I guess he has inherited his big noggin brains from both his Grandfathers. I appreciate all of your warm supportive comments. Grateful I am !We also were told 2 weeks ago (same day as his MRI) results of his renal scan - that his left kidney is growing though still smaller than his right. Thats good news - he has 65% function on right and 35% on left (adds to 100% meaning right kidney is doing more work but that's okay - we hope it gets no worse)I am so grateful we live near enough to the Children's hospital to attend their clinics . S & J have attended four different clinics a

Good news ...Blessed relief
2008-04-03 19:12:09
As I mentioned a few months ago both S and J have a few medical problems. Sam has been definitely diagnosed with an inherited genetic disorder. (4th generation we know of - but it is also a mutation in half of other people affected ).I have it too. J they are unsure.S & J have regular checkups at the Children's hospital for their eyes and with a Paediatric Neurologist.J has only a few Café-au-lait spots ( birthmarks) but he was also being followed up too.Watched.I noticed by attending the Early childhood clinic (along with the Nurse) that J's head circumference had crossed percentiles from 50% - almost 100% over a period of six months. He had a large head but not off the charts - but his weight and height were in about 50%. His fontanel was still quite large too. It was odd .Previou

Express ...
2008-04-08 10:16:56
Heads : E X P R E S SThis word evokes many memories ... of course for me ... to do with breastfeeding my twin sons.My twins were born a month premature and most babies under 36 weeks don't have a good sucking reflex.Though many can start to breastfeed or bottle feed they also have nasogastric tubes (NGT) because sucking exhausts them easily. So they space the NG tube feeds with a breast or bottle feed initially. I started hand expressing colostrum the same day - like 1-2 mls. Yes mls.It was a few days before I my milk came in ... then I spent the next three weeks hooked up this pump 5- 6 times a day for 20-30 mins or more each session. I was so determined to breast feed.S was having a bottle of expressed breast milk (EBM) about every 9 hrs and two tube feeds in between. He was very reluctan
