This is my Mama's powder box she had when she's gotten married. Well, it used to come with the powder kit and the sponge. It also comes with a built-in wind up music chime. And I remember playing with it when I was much younger. I will always lift up the lid and listen to the music..........and Mama will go ...."Pearllll!!!..stop playing with my powder box"....
But it was just too irresistable.
Now the powder's gone and what's left is just the holder. She has left it with me when she moved across the causeway. Now and then, I will lift up the lid and the music brings back the "antique'' moments I remember growing up........And now its Pato that will go......"Pearllll....are you dreaming with the powder box againnnn..."

Wood Wedding 1970-01-01 00:59:59 The earliest reference to wedding anniversaries found other than the Silver or gold is to the 5th anniversary, wood wedding, which implies this became the material for that anniversary around 1875.
In 1922 Emily Post wrote her first etiquette book in which she suggested traditional anniversary gifts for the first, fifth, tenth, fifteenth, twentieth, twenty-fifth and fiftieth wedding anniversaries. Realizing the importance of wedding anniversaries and the growing trend for family and friends to give traditional anniversary gifts, in 1957 Ms. Post expanded the list to include more anniversary years. The gift list has not changed very much during the past 50 years. It suggests recommended gifts for the first 15 years and for every five years after that.
Traditional 5th wedding anniversary gifts have a theme of Wood. A contemporary or modern Fifth anniversary gift has a theme of Silverware. The flowers associated with the Fifth anniversary are Daisies. The Gemstone list shows
Gong Xi Fa Cai - from TP to BP 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I've seen my cousin's her beautiful creations of her scrapbooking. Seeing her did all her masterpieces with so much love and patience, made me decide to try out myself - digital version, that is......
Of course, I can never beat her lovely creations. She does it very well and all handmade. I think I have less patience sitting down and putting all those pieces and cut-outs together. I've also seen many pretty stuff of digital scarpbooking whilst blog hopping and came across ShabbyPrincess.com website. On seeing some of the freebie downloads, I made out this below page for our dear sister Kak Nong and her hubby.
Since we didn't get her a card and yet to deliver her mandarin oranges (still awaiting your CNY open house), we thought this would be a nice gesture to wish her and her "dahh-ling" a blessed Chinese New Year. My first try-out on digital scrapbooking anyway...so you got to give me A for effort..hahaha!!
Credit to ShabbyPrincess.com for the digital kit.

Pato and Pearl's Wood Wedding 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Looking back in our lives, it wasn't even close to our expectation on how things would turn out in our future. We have our own agendas, our own dreams and goals and sometime we meet people whom we thought would probably just be a phase in our lives.
That was 15 years ago, when Pato and Pearl
were merely acquaintances and being someone's friend. And who can imagine, what started out to be just a phonecall from a young silly boy to a typical next to door girl who was engrossed watching her weekly Beverly Hills 90210 series on a Saturday afternoon could unfold the many journeys of these two souls.
Maybe from the lessons in life we've learn together through the years of "hate-love" friendship to the rollercoster relationship of sharing many joys and sorrows apart from enduring long distance relationship, that matured us to really see the most precious thing that we search in life was just standing in front of each other.
Now, we use to laugh off when people told us never say

The Donut Story 2007-03-02 16:21:00 Don't know why...but the past few weeks we've been craving for this round shape stuff with a hole in the centre - DONUTS!!!
And not just any ordinary donuts. Pato was harping on Krispy Kreme and has been trying to get his colleague to piggy back some from the US. Pearl wanted a taste from the new Donut
Factory which is located at Raffles City Tower but the queue was just ridiculous!.
So one fine day, whilst in Vivo City, and wwallla...we bumped into Vinco by chance. Being skeptical, Pato just bought one glazed donut at $1.00 and we shared...Just after the first bite and first swallow (more like gulp) we turn back and bought one dozen!
But what is good with Vinco is that they allow you to make order on the spot or even call them so you don't have to queue for many hours. (DONUT FACTORY - you ought to think about this too)........Sorry, but we just cannot embrace this Singaporean favourite pastime - Queuing for LLLLOOONNGGG hours.

Project Blackwater 2007-03-06 16:07:00 "ProjectBlackwater
" started 2 months back. When I was approached to carry out the mission for "Project Blackwater", there was hesitation in my mind and in my heart. Not because I may be too busy with my own work and might not be able to afford the time but its due to certain personal issues..... Issues that dealt with sensitivity and issues of feelings.
So anyways, when Pato gave the green light for me proceed and ensure that I'm able to handle the mission without overloading myself, I embraced the task that was handed to me with much professionalism on taking care of my "client". It was kept in a hush to all and only made known recently when the time was suitable to do so.
What is "Project Blackwater"? It started with my dear cousin Rey and his darling fiancee meeting us at Swensons with a question - "Pearl, can you help with the wedding gifts arrangement and of course with Pato's blessing?" How can I turn down my dear cousin. And irregardless what may came out from
My Cousin Rey : Reflections 2007-03-14 16:23:00 When Rey was born, I was already 4 years old. And I remembered thinking to myself.."Thank goodness, about time !!! my aunties and uncles can find new entertainment selection.." At least now, I don't have to be alone in a room where all the grown ups are waiting for you to do something new, sing some songs in your birthday parties, show the next dance moves and so forth and so forth...Doing it for 4 years, it was jolly fun....but also very pretty daunting..... Its time to pass on the torch.
The first grandson to my Opah and Atuk, Rey was born on 1 March. From then on I had someone to play with when I visited my Grandparents...Of course, I had to wait a little bit for Rey to grow up.
Opah would sew our Hari Raya clothes
Rey grew up at my Grandparents' place so everytime during my visit, we will always meet and play together. Somehow we're kinda stuck together till today, at most of our family gatherings. I cannot remember if we ever got into a fight when we're Read more:Reflections
My Cousin Rey : Solemnization @ Day 1 2007-03-15 14:07:00 Year: 2005 (somewhere in 2nd quarter)
Venue: Inside Rouge
Cast: Pato & Pearl
Action: Pato was driving, Pearl was day dreaming....whilst both were listening to the Radio station Ria 89.7 and the advert "Dari High Tea ke Hati" (from High Tea to the Heart), a Get to Know You event organised by Ria at the Sheraton Towers was aired..........
Pearl : Dear, I think this would be good for Rey to attend..
Pato : hahahaha...maybe he's already got someone..?
Pearl : No lah, don't think so..Anyway no harm even so....Can make friends also..
Pato: You think he would go..?
Pearl : You give the number to him lah ...let see if he got guts to go or not...
Pato: Hmm, you know what..I bet he would go....cos got girls..haha
Pearl : Really ah..?..I bet he WILL NOT go..hahaha..he's always full of programmes and activities.... To see him these days also rare....Let see if he even remembers the date !
Pato: OK, let's bet on it...If you win, you call your shots..if I win...ha
My Cousin Rey : Wedding Enchantment Day 2 2007-03-18 05:26:00 A Traditional malay wedding in Singapore are usually done within a day. After the one day event of the Solemnization ceremony held at either the Bride's place or at the Registry like we did, the Wedding luncheon or dinner reception if any, held on another day, will happen on the same day at the Bride's and Groom's. Confused?? No worries. The event on Rey's Wedding Enchantment may give you an idea how's its done here in Singapore.
the many guest at Rey's
Unlike in our wedding where we opted to only have a dinner reception for Pearl's and the wedding luncheon for Pato's the next day, Rey and Hil did their Wedding luncheon on the same Sunday which is very common in Singapore. As we're just a tiny island, commuting between one location to another takes less than an hour, thus very convenient.
Rush, food pictures for your eyes to feast.......
We both reported our duties at Pearl's grandparents' place at around 11.30am. Rey's wedding lu

We've been insanely busy this week. Right after Rey's wedding, the manic madness of work schedule took a toll. We're guilty for having "the travelling ducks" lose out to the cobwebs but we did took time out catching on blog-reading time to time.
We missed out last week Photohunt on Architecture....urgh..we got tons of pictures on great architecture from our travelling but they have not been digitilized yet since we only gotten our digicam not too long ago. But we had a copy of the Eiffel Tower, the city of love, the city of fashion and of course city of great architecture.
Thus a picture of "the travelling ducks" at our honeymoon in Paris, which is still sitting on our living room credenza.

Sunday @ Botanic Gardens 2007-03-25 15:04:00 Since I have been working night shifts for the past 4 days, I didn't get to see Pearl. The only close thing I can feel/smell when I got home was her perfume as she left to the office when I reached home.
So this morning, I got back home a little early, around 7.30am and found that my Pearl decided to stay in bed since she was doing her homework till late. She was supposed to be on a flight to Phnom Penh but didn't manage to get a seat.....So, I coaxed for an early breakfast and a walk at the BotanicGardens
. Of course that does not thrill her since she knew she had to walk out in the sun. So when I told her that I wanted to play with our new Canon EOS400 DSLR and she can poses as much as she wants...that didn't take long to get her sprang out of the bed....Yes, that's my Pearl - the vanity queen who cannot resist the camera lenses. Till this day, she would sometime dramaticly teased me about being a photography model if I didn't decline that talent search agent that stopped Read more:Sunday

Petrelli..in the making....."dream on.."
"Save Pearl, save the world".......yes, save Pearl from the overdose of the current hit new TV series - Heroes which is currently showing on StarWorld
every Wednesday and repeat telecast on Sunday 8pm. For some of you who had started watching this Series, you may have remembered the phrase - "Save the cheerleader, save the world..."
But thanks to my Kak Nong and Rey, i've fast forward with the series with watching the latest series from the Net. Ah yes, the world of internet. No more missing out on any episode and I can watch it from any corner of the world!...
With Pato doing his night shift, the nights I spend with these Heroes are worth it. Of course my dear darling Pato, would not want to lose out to his spouse having a taste at the Heroes all by herself. He too had desparately trying to catch up with me, by filling in to the episodes on his days off.
So now I've taken a breath

Colours of Cambodia 2007-04-14 10:31:00 We were planning to explore 1 Asian country sometime this year and when I had a project in Phnom Penh, we did wanted to cover Cambodia
at some point. Thus it came sooner then expected....
"the travelling ducks" packed their gears and off we went to venture this city that holds a gruesome history and is one of the 7 wonders contenders for its Angkor Wat . I had gone to Phnom Penh on an earlier flight on last Tuesday for my meetings. Pato join in on Wednesday night which was the start of the journey of these ducks in Cambodia.
Phnom Penh, Cambodia's capital city, makes for a great short holiday with plenty to see. Once called 'Paris of the East', much of its architecture dates back to the pre-war French colonial period.
We stayed at Hotel Intercontinental - the first 5 star hotel built in Phnom Penh, simply because my jobsite was within the Hotel compound. I got the know the construction of the hotel itself took 5 years due to limitation of resources and long leadtime i Read more:Colours
About Coffee & U 2007-04-18 16:37:00 I pick this article up at the TCC - the coffee connoisseur cafe yesterday while dropping by to get dessert. I'm not a coffee drinker. I get my caffeine from COKE! Yes, a bad habit, sometime drinking COKE at 8am in the morning whilst clearing emails and reviewing meeting schedule but I have been cutting back this sugary carbonated brown coloured pick me up I LOVE SO MUCH drink after reading an article about using COKE to clean the toilet bowl!..I've yet to do the test though...
Anyways, an article about coffee which I thought I would share (another good cover up for MENTAL BLOCK-gger)...and that dwp is also currently working of the design of several TCC's cafe in Singapore.
DO YOU LIKE,
1. A strong and aromatic Espresso to start your day?
2. A rich and velvety Cappuccino for a pick me up?
3. A smooth Cafe Latte for your fix?
4. A Cafe Mocha with that added hint of chocolate?
5. Or a nice and cold Iced Coffee

This week we got two interpretations of STEPS.
In Phnom Penh, Cambodia crossing the road. Mopeds, dogs, cars and school children in all direction make traffic all the more chaotic, along with the odd cow cart plodding along the road. Few people wear helmets and the number of passengers on a motor bike seems limitless.
Here then are some suggestions to STEPS of a Cambodian road safety code - follow them at your peril!
Step 1 : Once you have commited yourself to crossing the street, you cannot change your mind.
Step 2 : Do not choose to cross near a turning or a crossroad.
Step 3 : Search for the part of the road which has no pot holes which may cause drivers to swerve unexpectedly.
Step 4 : Look to the left, look to the right, then repeat and repeat again! Satisfy yourself that there are no drivers in the fast flowing stream of traffic careering down the wrong side of the road.
Step 5 : Step into the road.
Step 6 : Looking straight ahead to your

I'm no Red Hot Blooded woman like Red, I don't have a sharp expandable vocab like Simon Cowell and worst....what if I myself make no sense to the question given ..then what??
That's when I got my thinking cap and submit my proposal to the Main Judge and the Creator of Blogger Kickstart (but of course, i seek permission) and thus an assignment adjoining Red Mummy's favourite topic - RED and what I know best - DESIGN is created. When Pato&Pearl watched Jangan Pandang Belakang 2007-05-06 06:19:00 A week of manic work invasion for "the travelling ducks" and what is best to treat this stressful mind...?? While some probably gave themselves a retail therapy, others might chill out with their friends or partners.
Instead, what did the ducks do? Give ourselves a good scare. The much anticipated malay horror flick - JANGAN PANDANG BELAKANG had hit this red dot on 3rd May. We caught this movie last Friday with Aunt Lala and her two kids since we missed out watching the preview with Kak Nong and Pato's neices & nephews. The newlyweds, Mr & Mrs Rey joined us last minute but managed to get the same row of seats with us.
So there we were in the cinema teatre, from left - Aunt Lala's son Isaac, Aunt Lala, Aunt Lala's daughter Nurul, Pato & Pearl
and Mrs Rey + Mr Rey. This arrangment work tremendously well. The grown up kids sandwiched their Mom, Pearl squeezed onto Pato whilst Mrs Rey could easily fit in the same seat with Mr Rey.

Peck us once...QUACK! 2007-05-15 15:37:00 Pato is to Pearl and Pearl is to Pato which basically means when there is Pato there will be Pearl and where there is Pearl, Pato will always be at side.
So the story goes like this. We've been pecked again..twice....well technically thrice!. 2 bloggers tag us with the same tag and not even before we even complete the task, we got pecked again.
Unfortunately, "the travelling ducks" were at no mercy with our commitment that when we reached home, we just wanted to dive into our warm nest. And of course, doing a tag will need the presence of both of us together....(a great excuse of the delay LOL)

Pearl, Pato & ..... 2007-05-21 05:02:00 She came into my life just about a year into our marriage. I know this is personal but people say sometime its best to let it out once in a while rather than bottling up your feelings which can lead you to the path of asylum. So after 4 years plus, I cannot hide this fact anymore. Will it tarnish the image of "the travelling ducks''? ...Whatever will be, will be.
I can't imagine what Pato sees in her. I was already pissed that Pato spend large amount of money on her. For goodness sake, I have much better ass than hers!
Eventually, to make this marriage work, I decided to live with it. I thought threesome may not be such a bad idea. After all, I have to be honest that I enjoyed her company, her sweet lullabys and she seems to be a considerate partner that had never failed to satify our needs. Geez, what have I become?? At times, she just prefer to stay still and let us continue our makeout session..........

How often do you wash your car : Pato - when it gets dusty and Pearl starts nagging
How often do you sweep/mop the floor : Pato & Pearl - no maid, so we do it ourselves. Vacuum does the job once a week.
