Short Trip to Mekedaatu 2008-03-10 02:25:00 Mekedatu comes in Bangalore rural district. Mekedatu is about 3.5Km from Sangama the place where Arkavati merges with Kaveri. In Kannada Meke means Goat and Datu means cross.Thatz how the name of clase came to be Mekedatu as the banks between the river looks so close. Of course,in practicality it is not possible for any goat to do a leap between these two banks. This place is about 90 km from Bangalore via Kanakpura. The River Kaveri runs through a deep, narrow ravine of hard granite rock. The river which is more than 150 meters wide at the confluence (at Sangama) flows through the hardly 10 meters wide gorge at Mekedatu. One can see the ferocious flow of all that water guishing through the Rocky banks. There is a lot of mythological significance associated to this place. As per one version Read more:Short
