Snow Day
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I took Cameron outside a couple of days ago when we finally had some decent snow showers. Believe it or not, this was Cameron's first time discovering snow. My little guy refused to wear his gloves for fear that he would lose his favorite John Deere tractors. So we were not out too long (it was a chilly 27 degrees). Where is Ava, you ask? Hanging out with Nana Cheryl for the day. The poor guy tripped and fell on one of the bushes when he was looking up at the snow falling that's why he had a little snow on his coat. He didn't care, though. He laughed the whole time.

Hurray For Shana!
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I ended up going over to Shana's house today because I am too computer illiterate to figure out how to put a picture right in the Main Title of my blog. She posted up Cameron and Ava's picture within two seconds. Plus it was great getting out of the house - even though it took me almost five hours to get ready! It was a little hectic trying to coordinate the kids's naps, getting them dressed, fed, and getting a shower. Ava liked feeling Aubree's hair. Aubree has a huge play yard that has a lot of really cute toys. Thanks Shana for helping me with my blog!

Ava loves Bob the Builder
1970-01-01 00:59:59
See the little GAP bear on Ava's lap? I wanted her to hold on to it while I took a picture but she had her eyes on something else... She loves this Bob the Builder truck with its noisy wheels. She's turning out to be just like her big brother!

HOW DO I CHANGE MY LAYOUT????
1970-01-01 00:59:59
If you've been reading my last few posts you would have noticed that I have been changing the template every couple of days. I was trying to download some free templates off the Internet but cannot seem to figure out how to upload them on my blog. Does anybody know how? It's driving me nuts. I am not very computer savvy and looking under the "Edit HTML" sub tab makes me want to pull my hair out with all the weird codes it contains. What I would really like to do is add a picture within my main title. If anyone out there knows how to do it, please contact me.

HAPPY 2007!!!!!!!!
1970-01-01 00:59:59
John and I talked to each other and we both decided that our New Year's resolution this year would be NOT to have any babies in 2007(ha-ha!!).Happy New Year to all our friends and families!!!!

A Poem
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I found a poem that I am sending to a family that has a child with Cancer. She is a little girl that went to Boardman United Methodist Pre-school (my former work place). When I read this card I knew how life is so precious and that you should enjoy every moment with your loved ones. So I thought I'd share it with you:God has not promised skies always blue, flower-strewn pathways all our lives through;God has not promised sun without rain, joy without sorrow, peace without pain. But God has promised strength for the day, rest for the labor, light for the way,Grace for the trials, help from above, unfailing sympathy, undying love. Annie Johnson Flint

Sleepless Nights
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Ava caught a really bad cold few days ago and has been miserable ever since. Her nose was running really bad and she sounds like she has a rattle in her chest whenever she breathes. Needless to say, I have had quite a few sleepless nights and hectic days. She was having such a hard time breathing which was why she couldn't sleep. She was supposed to get her second flu shot but her pediatrician said to wait until she's better. She even thought she might have the RSV(Respiratory Synctial Virus)-which really scared the crap out of me. They stuck a really small q-tip-like tester to see if she did have the virus. So far she didn't have it. The doctor said, that to a lot of people, and some older babies, it feels just like the common cold. But to infants it may get worse and become RSV.I'm keeping my fingers crossed. She seems a little better today.

GOT MILK?
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I had taken this shot last week and forgot about it. He had just finished eating some banana yogurt and was trying to get away from me when he saw my camera. Plus, Sesame Street was on and that was more important. I really wanted him to pose like the models on the "Got Milk?" ads, but this was the best I can do.

What the Heck Happened?!
1970-01-01 00:59:59
My biggest challenge these past few weeks is trying to get things (anything) done when the children are asleep. They hardly take naps at the same time and when they do, one wakes up fifteen minutes later. Another thing that sets me back is Ava crying whenever you set her down and leave the room. I honestly do not remember Cameron having such a separation anxiety. To tell you the truth, I cannot even go to the bathroom without Ava crying up a storm. Actually she cries whenever she's left alone. It does not matter whether it's me or someone she hardly sees at all. As a result, the house is a disaster. It looks like a second hand toy store. I have no time nor the desire to organize and put things away. Just looking at it overwhelms me. I remember when Cameron was only a few months old and I only had one small box of toys for him to play with. What's really embarrasing is that this isn't even everything. AND I can't believe I've posted this up. This room looks like a children's par

Dance Party
1970-01-01 00:59:59
It's funny how your children end up liking the kind of music you wouldn't think they would care for. Most babies and toddlers like "Old Mac Donald", "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star","The Wheels On The Bus",etc. But Cameron HATES those songs! For some reason he gets upset whenever he hears them, along with some other children's music. What he's really into is the classic "We Will Rock You" by Queen. He just loves the beat and smacks his hand on the on the table whenever I play it for him. Here he is "gettin' his groove on". Then he got tired and sat on the couch with his Curious George.

Play Time
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I rarely get a picture of the kids together since Cameron has a habit of smacking Ava on the head from time to time. So I am always ready to split the two apart whenever I think something about to happen. Just tonight he was throwing his huge green ball at her on purpose and laughing like crazy afterwards, so these shots are rare. Here they are playing their usual staring contest. Of course, Ava loves to put anything in her mouth, Cameron's hair included.

Oh, I Wish...
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Ok, I know Christmas is over but I wish I had one of these (Canon Digital Rebel XT). Maybe for Valentines? Mother's Day, perhaps? Now if I can only get John to read my blog. "Hey, honey, come see the pictures I took of the kids.... oh, wait, what's this? A Canon Rebel XT! Wow what a great camera! Wouldn't this be a great present to a wonderful wife who works sooooooo hard to raise your kids?????" Well, we can only hope.

Orchid
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I was trying to figure out how to turn my older pictures into black and white. I didn't realize I already had a program in my computer that does this (right after I had downloaded Picasa, a similar program!). Anway, to make my long story short, I was experimenting with this picture and changed the hues and blurred some parts. And, yes, it's a fake orchid. We do not have ANY live plants in the house. Our cat, Chloe has a penchant for eating and regurgitating them out onto our cream carpet - which is not fun to clean.

Taking Pictures of Toddlers and Infants
1970-01-01 00:59:59
If you've been reading my blog you would notice that I probably have more pictures of Ava than Cameron. This was not intentional. It's a lot easier taking pictures of Ava since she cannot get up and run away from me - yet. Cameron, on the other hand, sprints away from me as soon as he sees my camera. For example, here is a shot of Ava:And this is what I got with Cameron: I was running after him to get a picture when he finally stopped and looked at me. Notice the evil eye? He can almost roll his eyes to the back of his head and really scare the cr** out of me. Maybe if I had a better camera? Too bad Santa came and went. Owen, if you read this, got any suggestions on what kind of camera to get -that's not going to break the bank, and give John a heart attack?

Our Favorite Book Store
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I love to watch Cameron play. He concentrates so hard and babbles a few words away at each toy he's holding. Whenever I get a chance to have some one on one time with him I usually take him to Barnes and Noble, our favorite bookstore. I get my usual peppermint mocha and he gets to play with the store's Thomas The Train set. I do get a little nervous watching him touch all the toys that just about every child in the greater Boardman area has laid their hands on. So John and I thought it would be a good Christmas present for him. But then we found out that the table legs alone - without the table top - would cost us an arm and a leg. So we quickly changed our minds and decided to take our chances with all the germ infested toys. I just had to make sure Purell was in hand and to take several trips to the bathroom to scrub his hands.

Euchre/Poker Tournament with Friends
1970-01-01 00:59:59
We had some out of town friends come over our house last night for a few games of Euchre and Texas Hold'Em. John and I had such a great time hanging out with them. We don't see them as much as we'd like now that we are busy raising Cameron and Ava. So John and I "partied" it up as soon as the kids were in bed. I ended up crashing at three in the morning, but most of them including John, did not go to bed until 5 AM. It brings back memories of my college days when we all use to party like crazy except that most of us have now entered our 30's (scary thought), and that we would all be woken up by a screaming toddler (AKA, Cameron) a couple of hours later. Of all days, he had to have his breakfast at the butt crack of dawn. So I bring him downstairs kicking and screaming while a host of friends are passed out on our living room, family room and basement. I thought to myslef, Ok, so our friends are never coming back to our house again. John comes down from our bedroom holding Ava and a

I Figured It Out
1970-01-01 00:59:59
After a number of years owning my camera, I finally figured out how to take pictures in Black and White. This is a big deal to someone who constantly erases all the photos on her memory card by accident. Last month I deleted all of the past Christmas holiday photos and had to use my dad's to upload them on my blog. I really should just read my manual, but I'm too impatient to go through it.

Christmas Party at Lynda's
1970-01-01 00:59:59
We went to my friend Lynda 's beautiful home for a Christmas party last night. You should have seen the look on his face when he came running in the house and saw his good friend, Aubree!! And I don't think Cameron could get over how big Lynda's house was. There was so much room to run around! So many things to see and feel! I was surprised to find out how comfortable Cameron felt with so many people at the party. Of course John and I were taking turns running after him. Here he is with Aubree and Lynda inspecting a Christmas tree with a train going around it. Even Ava had a good time chewing on some stacking toys and Christmas books. She wasn't too happy on the way to the party and on the way home, though. I thought maybe her crying in the car would subside around five months. She's almost seven months now and still hates it. I don't think she likes being strapped in. Either that or she just hates MY DRIVING. Poor girl!Kyle and Shana, thanks so much for taking the photos!!

The Art and Science of Bubbles
1970-01-01 00:59:59
What is it about bubbles that gets a child's eyes light up? I could entertain Cameron and Ava for over an hour just blowing bubbles in their faces. So the other day I was searching through Google and I found a site that talks about the Art and Science of Bubbles . It has some cool recipes for colored bubbles, bubble magic and even "square" bubbles!Check it out at http://www.sdahq.org/new1198/kids/bubbles/Welcome.html Cameron tried catching some in his mouth but was out of luck.

Godiva Cheesecake
1970-01-01 00:59:59
We decided to have carpet installed in our basement. So the other day, the carpet people came over and installed it without any problems...until the next day when John ran out of hot water while taking a shower. Our water heater broke (what a coincidence, don't you think?). Ok, so the thing was made back in 1978 (it's amazing it lasted this long). Anyway, we had to have it replaced which cost us another $570.00. To top off the weekend, John's car battery died and we had just replaced it last August. So what do I do? Why, enjoy a piece (or two) of The Cheesecake Factory's Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake, of course!

Meeting Another Mom
1970-01-01 00:59:59
John and I took the kids to the mall today. I am happy to say that it only took us two hours to get everybody ready (showers, naps and lunches included)!! HURRAY!!! I think we're getting the hang of it. We took Cameron to see the coin operated rides (is that what their called?) - he had fun stepping on and off the platform that the rides were on. Afterwards we decided to go to the food court play area. We usually get a couple of comments and questions from strangers about our kids so as soon as we walked in a mom with three children came up to us and started a conversation with us. We did the usual small talk. She seemed nice enough until she looked at John intently and asked, "So, what do you do?" Is that too nosy, do you think? She wanted to know what my educational background was and where we lived, etc, etc. Honestly I felt like she had some grand master plan, although I didn't know what. She just seemed so forward and too friendly. So John and I got made an excuse on how we nee

Happy 8 Months!
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Dear Ava, today you are eight months old. How time flies. I love how you smile when you first see me in the morning. I love how I can see your two bottom teeth when you're babbling away. I love that your hands and feet are still so tiny. I love how you try to eat your brother's hair whenever you're within arms reach of him. But what I love the most is that you are a part of me and that it still amazes me how your daddy and I have created such a beautiful baby. Happy eight months, baby girl!

Crazy Day
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Today was a little rough. For some reason Cameron did not want to have anything to do with Ava, and everytime they laid eyes on each other he would cry and set Ava off in a frenzy. It was like listening to a crying match to see who was going to cry louder and get my attention. Most days I just cannot get anything done around the house. So of course, John received several phone calls and had to listen to my complaints along with the children's screaming in the background. But what can he do? SOMEONE has to go to work. He ended up calling my mother inlay, Cheryl to save the day. And was I GLAD TO SEE HER!!! I think the kids were too. I feel bad that I cannot always give them attention one on one. They always settle down as soon as they see a new face in the house. My father inlaw, Jerry, and brother inlaw, Joe also came over later. Look closely and you can see all the teeth Cameron has!

Rough Night
1970-01-01 00:59:59
This morning was rough. I felt like I needed a truck to pull me out of bed. I was thinking of what I would swap for a good eight hours of sleep. We have finally put Ava in her own crib. Just now?, you ask. I know, I know, she is pretty old to just start sleeping in her own crib. But then again, there are other children out there that still sleep in their parents's bed at a much older age. I was actually one of those children. But I am trying to do things a little different now that I'm the parent. First of all, it's a lot harder with two children and two adults all sleeping in the same bed, that's obvious. And I NEED my sleep to get through the next day. Unfortunately last night was not one of those nights. It's not difficult putting Ava to sleep at night - as long as I rock her for a good twenty minutes. Still, that's not a problem. What gets a little difficult is when Cameron wakes up in the middle of the night screaming hysterically - which has happened the last couple of days

The kids loved having Shana and Aubree over today. This time we brought the them down in the basement now that we've installed new carpet. Here's Cameron and Aubree discovering the joy of ping pong: And had a blast riding the wagon. Group shot:And the best part of the day was when Cameron was able to pronounce Shana's name so clearly as if he had been saying it forever!!!
