Tuesday Toot 2008-02-26 10:18:12 Well, I must begin by simply saying ... it's a big deal for me just to be back at my computer! The whole "family illness" ordeal took a good 3 weeks for the family to get over. Super Dad and Drama Queen are STILL trying to get their voices back and Princess JF STILL has remnants of her rash left on the elbows?! But, all in all, everyone is doing much better! It is an accomplishment recently for me to simply get off the couch!! We are in week 10 of the pregnancy and I have been extremely tired. Therefore, the simple fact that I am sitting at my computer being a bit more productive than normal is worthy of a "toot" today!! : )Finally, I'd like to give Super Dad his dues. He planned for a babysitter on Saturday so that he and I could just get away for a few hours. We had a delicious dinner at Read more:Tuesday
"Almost" Back in the Game 2008-02-12 12:15:41 Well ... this is just a sampling of the medicines we've had the past few weeks. The children's brands are missing ... I think my son used them all. I know there is also at least one more missing that Super Dad takes to work with him still. plus, we went through at least two of each kind of medicine. Hence the reason the Motrin is still wrapped ... it was our second bottle. Not to mention regular Tylenol for the older two and Super Dad's fevers and headaches. It was down right crazy! Let's see if I can recap each member's illness:Princess JF - fever (up to 104.5), vomiting, rash, aching legs, lethargic, sore throat, nosebleed - started on Tuesday, 1/19 and showed last signs of fever on Tuesday, 2/5 (still has remnants of rash)Princess JL - fever (up to 103.6), lethargic, coughing, runny nos Read more:Almost
The saga continues ... 2008-02-01 13:17:30 Well, here it is Friday ... an Princess JF is STILL sick! At least we haven't had any vomiting since day one ... but it's pretty sad watching her feel so miserable. Let's see if I can time line it for you ... and you'll see why I haven't been on this week ...Tuesday @ Noon - she claimed that her tunny hurt while eating lunchTuesday @ 2pm - fever of 102 beganTuesday @ 5pm - vomitedWednesday - fever continued, coughing beganWednesday Evening - noticed rash on hands, elbows, and face, and sporadically placed over her stomach, back, ankles and other placesThursday am - still has fever, rash getting redder, called DrThursday @ 1:45pm - took her to Dr, unrecognizable rash, negative strep culture, diagnosed with "viral infection" (meaning they don't know what it is ... no meds can help)Thursday e
To explain my absence ... 2008-01-30 14:15:28 I can't believe I have been "absent" from my computer for the past 3 or 4 days. My husband kept asking if I wanted to get on ... but I just couldn't bring myself to sit in this chair yet. Explanation coming.First though, I was given the heads up of a great giveaway blog and thought you guys might be interested ... you can find out more about it here: Fun and Free Give AwaysSecondly, I was asked by a reader what all the buttons under my "Earn Extra Cash" title represent ... so here's the answer to that ... Affiliates! Once I find a way to earn extra cash I grab a button (or make my own in some instances) so that I can share with my readers. Many of them offer an incentive for referrals ... hence the reason I go ahead and place a button on my site ... to try and bring in a few extra bucks. S Read more:explain

Illness sets is ... 2008-01-30 14:15:10 As if me being laid up on the couch feeling nauseous all day wasn't enough, Princess JF seems to have caught a stomach bug! She told me yesterday at lunch that her tummy hurt, and I figured she just didn't want to eat lunch. About an hour later she climbed up on my lap and was burning up. Super Dad was supposed to work late yesterday, but when Princess JF threw up around 5pm, I called him and asked him to come home ... I couldn't handle it alone since I was already feeling bad myself! She seemed fine around 8:30pm last night ... dancing around with Princess JL after her medicine kicked in. Went to bed, then woke up this morning ... with a fever of 102 again. So, we've been taking it easy in bed. She had a nice bath while I showered, and then some more medicine and a piece of toast. We put
Manic Monday 2008-01-28 12:03:35 If you could have a servant come to your house every day for one hour, what would you have them do? Laundry. With 6 people in the house we go through tons of laundry ... especially since my 4 year old changes three or four or more times a day! I don't mind the washing & drying as much as the hanging, folding and putting up.Has your life ever been changed by an apparently random occurrence? It seems most of life's occurrences are "random" ... none of us can plan every event of our day. Meaning, it was random that I noticed my husband back in high school as he walked passed my best friend's house. It's random that I wrote the CL ad that got us this house. Most recently, it was random that we chose the closest church to our new home to attend ... and some old friends from high school atte Read more:Manic

Friday Faves - Cookie 2008-01-25 06:57:41 My favorite cookie? Thats kind of a tough one, simply because I'm not a big cookie fan. But, if I had to choose, peanut butter cookies would probably be my favorite. And if they come from Subway, that's even better. Subway's cookies are delicious. I even eat their Macadamia Nut cookies, whereas I won't eat them from anywhere else!Read about others faves at MommyCommunity.com.

The testing ... 2008-01-23 16:28:02 Figured I should update the "World" on the testing today. We got up extra early (like 6am) to make sure everyone ate, bathed, and got dressed in plenty of time to allow for traffic. The two princesses were the last two for us to get out of bed and dress ... and we packed them a breakfast to go to allow them more sleeping time. We left the house in record time and got to the testing facility in no time ... in fact, we were 45 minutes early! Better than our normal arrival times everywhere else, with getting everyone ready (including two picky girls: Drama Queen and Princess JF), having to get myself into gear (remember ... mornings and I don't go well together), and simply getting everyone into the van and strapped into seats ... we hardly ever get anywhere earlier than 10 minutes late! (Doe
A bit worried ... 2008-01-23 01:35:16 I should really be in bed right now ... we have an early morning. Since we homeschool, we take a pretty laid back approach to our mornings around here (I am not by any means a "morning person"). Anyways, tomorrow we have to be in a city about 45 minutes from home by 8:30am to register for a "benchmark" test for my older two children. This new school we are currently involved with requires this. I am not sure how often ... and I'm praying not too much due to our current "transportation dilemmas." My husband had to take the day off tomorrow just so we could get hem there! Not cool at all! But, we really don't have a choice if we want them to continue with this program.I am torn because I am one of "those" adamantly against standardized tests. The fact that they will be subjected to them is e

WFMW: Extra cash profits 2008-01-22 23:50:23 Only two days ago I wrote about some new concepts I was trying in order to generate a bit of extra cash. I continue to reap the benefits of these new ventures! Although small in amounts, everything adds up and its sure making my PayPal account look much better than the $2 that's been sitting there for the past eight or none months! In just the few days since I signed up with these companies (most of them I stared with on Friday ... others I've added over the past few days) these are the ones that have actually generated money "in" so far:# 1 - Project Payday: This one was super quick with the first payout for the initial offer. It cost me $1.88 to join, by ordering some trial offer "blogging tool kit" (I figured it might be decent reading). Then, within 24 hours I received my rebate payout Read more:Extra

Tackle it Tuesday: My desk finally 2008-01-22 12:37:04 OK ... I finally HAD to get to my desk. I simply couldn't handle it anymore! All the school books stacked on the corner were quite a nuisance. Not to mention, the papers Princess JF had stacked on my desk were simply overtaking everything else! So, I got it looking at least a bit better. I still need to get in each little cubby and organize it ... but I can now get to my desktop and I can grab a teacher guide without the whole stack falling down on me! Here are my before and after shots:

Out of desperation ... 2008-01-21 15:56:48 ... spurs opportunity. I keep seeing all this websites promising you money for reading emails, completing offers, etc ... so, out of desperation, I started signing up for some of them. I opened a new email account specifically for this reason at mail.com and downloaded RoboForm to get started. I began researching various sites and TRIED to stay away from the scammers. So far, everything seems to be on the up and up with the companies I found to join. I did my research and am praying everything continues to go well!Anyways ... you can see some of the buttons for these programs under the "earn extra cash" category to the right ... or you can read a bit more about them on another blog I started here: Pajama Money - make money from your pajamas! No one can offer up better advice than God!What is the sickest you've ever been?Hmmm ... I think I got the flu pretty bad once a few years back. But, the worst had to be when I had my 4 wisdom teeth and two molars cut out while I was pregnant with baby #3. Since I was pregnant I had to have a local anesthetic and my meds weren't too strong. I was throwing up blood for three days and couldn't eat a thing! It was awful!

Spiritual Sunday - Trials 2008-01-20 17:11:39 Today’s verse is perfect for the week we’ve had:Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.- James 1:2-3I’ve talked about God testing us the past few weeks and we learn that God asks us to test Him in only one area: our finances! Ouch! How that can hurt in today’s world! Nonetheless, we know through scripture that we will face trials and temptations. Jesus himself tells us in John 16:33I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.Whether we face illness, financial despair, disappointment, etc … we should look to the Bible for our peace and understanding through every situation. Roman Read more:Sunday

Friday Faves - Kitchen Gadget 2008-01-18 15:17:48 My favorite kitchen gadget? I dunno. We don't have anything too complex ... just your basic small appliances. We cook dinner every night pretty much, but I've never put much thought into my favorite gadget while in the kitchen. Prince W likes the electric can opener (although Super Dad likes my mom's better since it is one of those you put on the can and it goes). Wait ... I know. My favorite gadget of all time has to be the hand mixer. What memories we have of running around licking all the chocolate and dough off those beaters. My own kids still do. It's the best part of baking ... licking the bowl and the beaters! : )So ... here is my list:#1 - Hand mixer#2 - Electric can Opener#3 - Juicer#4 - Egg Separator#5 - Colander : )Read more fave fives on MommyCommunity.com.

Thursday Thirteen #3: Lessons Learned from my Kids 2008-01-17 19:03:20 Thirteen LessonsLearned
from my Kids1 - Persistence. We are trying to get Princess JL to stop needing "potty breaks" in the middle of the night, so we cut off all drinks after 7pm. But, this does not stop her from coming in the room and saying, "Mommy, can I have a yogurt? Please? Thank you." And then she quickly turns and walks briskly away ... and continues until she figures out we aren't giving in. I have to admire her persistence though (and her manners)! :)2 - Believe. Princes JF has such a huge imagination. She loves to have tea parties and, when she was 2, had a long list of imaginary friends. Oh how I wish I could be like her. If only my beliefs could carry me delightfully through the day as she allows hers to!3 - Dream. Prince W loves to entertain (all the kids do ... but he more Read more:Thirteen

Great Wal-mart finds 2008-01-17 16:47:43 I don't know about everywhere else in the world, but here in Texas (and throughout much of the South I'm sure) there is a Wal-mart on every corner it seems. For some reason, when I woke up this morning, Wal-mart was on my mind? Not sure why? I began to think about some of the things we have found or come across there (and, by the way, I counted seven within a 20 minute drive in any direction from our home ... the closest being only 2 minutes up the street), but ... anyways ... back to our great Wal-mart finds.Let me first say, we all had a bit of "culture shock" when we moved into the new house and that entailed "changing Wal-marts" ... along with everything else! We are further from "our Wal-mart" and have to use the one around the corner simply because of convenience (and the rising cos Read more:Great
"Sydney White" 2008-01-17 11:51:45 Once upon a time, set deep in the woods of … Greek Row … a lonely brunette sat crying on a curb. SydneyWhite
is a new fairy tale rendition of the ever popular, Snow White, with its own displaced “princess”, evil witch, seven “dorks,” and even the poisoned apple. This light-hearted romantic comedy is sure to win over the heart of every tween princess. Sydney White (Amanda Bynes) is a strong willed tomboy raised by her plumber dad (John Schneider) after the death of her mother. As she prepares for college, she dreams of pledging the same sorority her late mother belonged to, Kappa Phi Nu. Upon arrival, Sydney obviously does not fit in with her brown hair and less than luxurious upbringing. As she continues through Rush she meets Tyler Prince (Matt Long) and quickly becomes hate
Manic Monday 2008-01-17 10:09:07 Which sex do you think has it easier in our culture? Have you ever wished you were the opposite sex? Men. I don't know when the time will come for us women ... but it will come! Men are still higher paid, more respected, and can get away with things they should never be able to. And have I ever wanted to be the opposite sex ... all my life! I can't stand anything "girly" and other than the experience of pregnancy and being able to give life, I can't stand most things about being a girl ... hence the reason I have spent most of my life as a tomboy! : )What books from your childhood would you like to share with your children?I read ALL the time as a child. there are so many books I could share with my children. Right now though, I am simply trying to instill a love for reading within my kids Read more:Manic

Tackle it Tuesday: My Blog 2008-01-17 10:08:55 Okay, I really needed to tackle my desk today, but I got distracted trying to find a new 3 column layout for my blog here! I was happy with the last template, but I really needed the 3 columns! The first template I was using had 3 columns, but wouldn't work right in IE ... so I'm hoping this one does! If not, check out Firefox, it's much safer and quicker anyways! : )So, there are still some tweaks to be made, but, for now, it's good to go. I can always finish customizing it later on tonight when everyone's in bed and I am allowed quiet to concentrate on the task at hand! Here is the screenshot of what it looked like before I started working on the new template today:As for my desk I mentioned last Tuesday

WFMW: Living by Faith 2008-01-17 10:08:35 I've sat here and pondered what "works for my me" for quite a while now, as I sift through the bleak update on our financial struggles from Super Dad. As I try to sort through our days trying to come up with a post for the day, I am brought back to our current situation and I wonder if anything works for me? Then, I am hit with the realization that "all things work for good" according to my God. I know that He tests us. Do I think this is from Him? I don't know, but I do know we will pass this one through our trust in Him.The only thing I can guarantee "works for me" on this Wednesday (and every day of my life) is my faith in Him and trusting in God to carry us through every trial, every situation. I know that as I study His Word and work towards an even better relationship with Christ, o Read more:Living

I don't follow politics ... 2008-01-17 10:08:02 I don't like to watch the news, it simply depresses me. I don't follow politics
as well as I should ... I just read through some headlines here and there. But, I found this on a blog as I was clicking around and found it interesting. It is a short speech Ron Paul gives on homeschooling. Check it out at Phat Mommy's blog here.
Mother’s Intuition 2008-04-14 09:32:03 (Reposted from our MySpace blog):Ya know, in all the times in my life when I was right ... I was praying that I would be wrong at least this once. When I left for the doctor on Thursday morning, March 27, I simply put on our MySpace that we were "praying all went well." Why? Because I had an awful feeling something was wrong. So, as I try to get through this (and I’m "writing my feelings down" in hopes of trying to work through my own grieving process) ... I’ll explain the events of the day.My doctor’s appointment was at 11:30am, and I went with the hope that the doctor would relinquish my fears and that I could continue on with this pregnancy with a new sense of relief. My fears began on Thursday, March 13 when I went to bed. I laid down and instantly felt really sick. I sat up, ra
April 2, 2008 2008-04-16 08:56:26 First of all I need to mention that we decided to name our angel "Reagan". We had only tossed around a few names and this was one that Drama Queen & I liked, and when I looked up the meaning this week I found that it meant "little king/queen" or "royalty" ... and that’s what our baby is in Heaven.Every mother has a birth plan as she prepares for her child’s welcome into this world. Home birth? Hospital? Natural birth? Epidural? Hubby? Doula? Doctor? Midwife? Music? Quiet? Lamaze? Massage? The options are endless really, as long as mom and the baby are safe with the decisions. But, as we entered the hospital on Wednesday, April
2, it was nothing like what I had planned for Reagan’s birth in September. I was escorted to a room where I was given my IV and asked to wait. Super Dad an
Unshakeable Faith 2008-04-18 13:02:49 Funny that this is the current series we are going through at church: Unshakeable Faith
. The series began on the Sunday morning following our doctor’s appointment on Thursday, March 27, where we were told that we had lost our baby, Reagan. It was simply the hardest news I’ve ever had to receive and the toughest test of my faith in my walk with Christ thus far. God has shown himself in so many situations in my life in just the past 8 years of choosing to following Him daily. I began walking intimately with Christ while Super Dad and I were separated. As I was looking to fill a void left by Super Dad’s leaving, I was able to find true, unconditional love in Christ. My dedicated relationship with Him began in July 2000. My faith was new, but it continued to grow as I saw God’s pre
