NHL All Star game 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Did anyone watch the NHL all star game...? The West beat the East 12-9...For a while I wasn't sure if I was watching a hockey game or something...the goalies couldn't have a stopped a volley ball...I could have scored a few goals..too bad I can't skate...!!!
Ford 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Ford Motor Company today reported a $12.75 billion loss for 2006. Broken down it looks like this amounts to a $24,100 loss every minute. In addition, Ford is planning to cut more jobs within the next few years.Overall, the manufacturing sector has been down in the U.S over the last few years due to outsourcing. I have always thought outsourcing manufacturing jobs as how many companies do these days is very bad for the economy. However, service jobs can be outsourced as the service jobs do not require a skill level as manufacturing jobs do. In addition, service jobs do not require a huge capital investment as setting up a plant would do. At some point the manufacturing companies have to start investing the capital required to build plants in China or somewhere else here in the U.S. Even though we save money in outsourcing, the fact is that Manufacturing jobs could generate Service jobs and not vice-versa.

Global Warming 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I was reading about global warming to find out that an ice shelf has broken off northern Ellesmere Island in Canada, creating a 66 square-kilometer ice island. The scientists say that this is due to global warming and the biggest in Canada in 30 years. Its hard to imagine that this breakup was so powerful that the earthquake monitors almost 250 km away picked up the tremors. Read more:Global

Superbowl 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Too bad the Patriots lost yesterday. The defense did not show up in the second half....couldn't blitz...hurry...Peyton. Well, if the Pats were going to loose one, let that be to Peyton because he is a class act and deserves to go to the super bowl. Read more:Superbowl
Bush's Opinion Poll 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Did you check out the latest opinion poll on our President? First of all I'm not sure how accurate these polls are..Two-thirds of respondents say that Bush has done something to make them angry....If you ask me questions like these are ridiculous..Even if these poll numbers are accurate..his approval rating has been like this over a year..so why make a big deal now...?looking forward to the State of the Union Address..!!looks like ethanol is the way to go...!Bush is expected to say...."Our citizens don't much care which side of the aisle we sit on, as long as we are willing to cross that aisle when there is work to be done."Yup! let's not play partisan politics and just leave him to do his job...http://www.gop.com/get more news from the fair and balanced.....www.foxnews.com

IPhone 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I'm definitely not one of those techies...nevertheless..couldn't resist to check out the IPhone...It's cool though. In simple words its a combination of an IPod and a Smartphone. For all those people who hate searching for the mouse, this will be a big relief. IPhone uses something called "Multi-touch" technology which does not require to use a mouse. The typing, pointing can all be done in the same area. I guess all the controls are pressure sensitive. There are some other cool features such as skipping voice mails, easier text messaging, easy to surf the internet. However, the price is like 500$-600$. Most people have either an IPod or a smartphone. So, why would anyone buy this if the cost equals the sum of both.! I guess everyone is saying that this might take off well in Asia...and other parts rather than here.
Superbowl 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I know I'll be crucified in the New England area for routing for the Colts in superbowl...nevertheless...would go with Peyton...rather than the bad Rex.!!I guess all Indy needs to do is run the ball on Offense, stop the run on defense and of course just get after Rex. I don't think Chicago's run defense is all that great...and neither is their secondary. So, Peyton just light up!! Read more:Superbowl
Quote of the day 1970-01-01 00:59:59 "To me there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special."Jim Valvano Read more:Quote
Australian open 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Guess what? it's Federer again. The sad part is he beat Fernando Gonzalez in straight sets. Some one needs to at least make him earn his titles...take him to a fifth set tie breaker or something. Even Sampras wasn't this dominating. Anyway, for all of us who hate Federer our hope is in the French open. Read more:Australian
Volt 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I missed the Auto Show this year, too bad! I read about Volt though.....!!!Volt is different from the other hybrids out there, in that Volt runs only on electricity whereas the other hybrids(Prius, Civic,.....) use a combination of battery power and gasoline. The electricty for Volt could be generated either by plugging into a standard wall socket or by charging the battery by any other means. All this sounds cool and GM claims that if successful this could totally eliminate the need for gasoline at the pump. So, what would make this possible? I guess the cost of the batteries should be reasonable to warrant any savings from using gasoline. Also, the infrastructure to re-charge the batteries easily should be possible. Today, if you know that you are going to run out of gas you pull over at the next gas station. What do you do if you need to re-charge the battery - look for an outlet...? If you were going to drive an Volt today you would have to re-charge the battery before you leave home

Funny 1970-01-01 00:59:59 If you haven't read this already...Feudalism: You have two cows. Your lord takes some of the milk.Socialism: You have two cows. State takes one and gives it to someone else.Communism: You have two cows. State takes both of them and gives you as much milk as you need.Bureaucratic Communism: You have two cows. State takes both of them and gives you as much milk as the regulations say you should need.Bureaucracy: You have two cows. State regulates what you can feed them and when you can milk them. Then it pays you not to milk them. After that it takes both cows, shoots one, milks the other and pours the milk down the drain. Brain entrainment 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Does anyone know about this? Apparently, by listening to IMusic tunes you can tune your brain to achieve states of peak performance whenever you need it.... I'm sure we all want it all the time. The science behind this is the principle of entrainment - the force that emanates when things happen in harmony is the force of entrainment. The brain is powered by a vast network of neurons that discharge waves of electrical energy at a certain frequency. Say, if you listen to music containing beats at 10Hz then the brain will emanate neurons at this same frequency. So by listening to Imusic you can tune your brain to send neurons at the frequency you want...Check out - http://www.imusicseries.com/ Read more:Brain

Bush haters and Ethanol 1970-01-01 00:59:59 To all those Bush bashers who said that the President advocates the use of Ethanol only for political reasons, here's some news. So, everyone argues that producing corn based ethanol will consume more fossil energy than the energy contained in the ethanol produced and therefore it requires more ethanol to travel a certain distance than gasoline. However, MIT research shows that this will change if the co-product credit is taken into account. When corn is converted into ethanol the material that remains is the high protein animal feed. So this enables the feed manufacturers to produce less feed and thus save energy. This is indeed an indirect benefit of using ethanol, so should be taken into account in calculating the ethanol savings..!! Also, ethanol can be produced from cellulosic sources such as corn stover and switchgrass which consume far less fossil energy. There are more factors and click here for more information - http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2007/ethanol.html

Superbowl Prediction 1970-01-01 00:59:59 The colts are going to win 27-20.Key plays - Colts defense will get three turnovers, two picks and one fumble.Though, Colts themselves will turn the ball twice in interceptions, Peyton will pull it off...in the fourth quarter. Here's why:Offense:1) Quarterback - Peyton has had a below than average play-off's so far this year. I can't imagine him having 4 bad games in a row and definitely not a bad Superbowl
.Advantage - Colts2) Running backs - I love the power running of both Joseph Addai and Dominic Rhodes. Thomas Jones and Cedric Benson of the Bears have similar running styles also. However, I'll go with the Colts because their running backs can catch the ball better. Both Addai and Rhodes have caught 46, 30 receptions respectively during the regular season. Also, they help set up the "Play-Action" well.Advantage - Colts3) Receivers - How can I go against Marvin Harrison? One of the best in business.Though, Reggie Wayne is not as solid as his peer, his clever route running capabili Read more:Prediction

Breast Cancer Treatment 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Here's some interesting news. MIT research originally intended to detect missiles is now helping cure breast cancer. The therapy is called "Microwave Thermotherapy." Apparently, the patients who received this therapy prior to lumpectomy (surgical procedure to remove the tumour) did not have any cancer cells remaining in the surgical margins (edges of the tissue that has been removed), indicating that all of the cancer has been removed. However, a few patients who had a lumpectomy but did not receive this treatment did have some cancer cells remaining in the surgical margins.http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/medicalnews.php?newsid=62009 Read more:Cancer
