Using vegetable oil for your vehicle 2007-03-05 00:16:31 This should put a smile on those lobbying for alternative fuel. The Organic Mechanic has come up with a way to have alternative fuel for vehicles using cooking oil instead of diesel.
The usage of cooking oil is brought about by using a proprietary kit called the SuVO Conversion Kit. The SuVO Conversion Kit works by transferring heat from the radiator system to your vegetable oil tank and fuel lines. An electric heater heats the VegOil Fuel Filter at the same time. The heat thins the vegetable oil to a temperature that is appropriate to replace diesel fuel, which will be indicated by the installed Green2Go light on your dash. At this time you flip a switch to activate the fuel valve, and you running are on vegetable oil. Shut down the vehicle on diesel fuel to purge the lines; a reminder buzzer will sound if you forget. The SuVO conversion kit claims to reduce fuel emission by approx. 40-70%.
Prices will depend on what kind of parts your vehicle needs. The Organic Mechanic also offer
Tumblr: The creative scrapbook 2007-03-04 21:25:43 I stumbled upon Tumblr
not to long ago. At first, I dismissed it as yet another online blog software. However, looking closer, it has many subtle differences. The analogy that they give is perfect, “if blogs are journals, Tumblelogs are scrapbooks”.
Tumblr is not meant to be a blog (or to replace it) but an unorganized compilation of quick short messages, links, photos, quotes, dialogues used to share author’s creations, discoveries or experiences without any commentary. It is meant to be simple way to quickly publish things you run across in the web or in your daily life.
Created by a web development company in New York called Davidville (also the creators of Senduit), I see Tumblr as something you would use before you write a post on a blog - a creative
scrapbooks with links, photos and RSS.
Instead of using the old pen and paper to jot things down, you can write it up informally and know that it won’t end up under that pile of papers or in the trash.

Wikipedia to enforce proof of credentials system 2007-03-07 23:04:50 It has been reported today that Wikipedia
’s cloak of anonymity will soon be put to an end with the free Internet encyclopedia planning to ask contributors who claim certain credentials
to identify themselves. It’s about time Wikipedia does something like that. They should have done it a long time ago as that may have minimized the controversies and the slandering practices we have seen lately.
Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales said in interviews by phone and instant message Wednesday from Japan that contributors still would be able to remain anonymous. But he said they should only be allowed to cite some professional expertise in a subject if those credentials have been verified.
“We always prefer to give a positive incentive rather than absolute prohibition, so that people can contribute without a lot of hassle,” Wales wrote.

Email tagging with Taglocity 2007-07-28 22:15:13
Tagging is a good way to increase productivity in reading or looking for something online. As you may know, tagging is an important part of blogs and other informational related sites which help simplify the search process.
Taglocity has applied that very concept to reading emails i.e. particularly to Microsoft Outlook.
If you suffer from email overload, Taglocity software simply tags a key word in your emails, contacts and tasks in an organized manner for you to search for it later. It even arranges your tags into a tag cloud where the tags increase by size according to how popular or important it is.
Key features of Taglocity:
- TagFilters
These reduce the need for folders and folder hierarchies because each tag acts as a virtual folder. Tags can then be dynamically filtered by content as needed, or letting the software create tags automatically.
- TagActions
Automate common tasks with user determined actions that run when tags are set.
- AutoTags

Chatting within multiple IM accounts with Imo.im 2007-07-31 13:02:30 Imo.im is an online service allowing you to log into your instant messaging accounts at the same time. There are 4 instant messaging accounts that you can link to: AIM, MSN, Yahoo and Google Talk.
Useful features include searching buddies, group chats (within
multiple IM accounts) and adding buddies. This tool allows you to access your accounts and chat with multiple groups, users and buddies without having to download any software — so you can virtually access you account anywhere in the world on any computer.
It is a good and powerful concept but it remains to be seen how it will differentiate itself from its more established competitors Meebo and eBuddy. Since it is in the Alpha stage, I may have to reserve my major comments until it gets into the later stages… though I would like to see a mobile version and ICQ functionality in addition to the other four.
