It was a preview for a movie where a bunch of people are hanging out at a party and then hear a loud crash outside. They run to the roof and see a demolished building. They soon find out something is attacking Manhattan. So it was the first movie I saw in the theatres for the new year. The cool thing about this movie is that it's filmed from the perspective of a home video camera. The bad thing about it is that it's filmed from the perspective of a home video camera. It can make you dizzy and sick. If you didn't like how Blair Witch Project was filmed you might want to skip this one. The Bucket List (2007) Review 2008-01-19 21:59:39 The Bucket List is about two terminally ill patients who are roomed together (Jack Nicholosn and Morgan Freeman) in a hospital. Ironically Jack Nicholson's character owns the hospital. They both find out they don't have very long to live so they embark on an adventure to fufill their "bucket list", an assignment Morgan Freeman's character was assigned in his college philosophy class about the things to do before you kick the bucket. Their list includes sky diving and racing shelbys. Jack Nicholoson was perfect for this role. A cold-hearted ladies man who turns out to be a decent guy. Morgan Freeman plays a genius family man who knows every answer to Jeopardy. They form a short friendship and both learn what really matters in their short lives. I am Legend (2007) Review 2008-01-09 14:49:49 This movie scared me pretty good and honestly almost made me cry. This never really happens to me when I go see movies. I never read the book or anything but thought the movie was good. Its about a guy who survives an epidemic that wipes out the whole world's population. The main guy is played by Will Smith (who else) and the other main character is played by a German Shepard. He tries to capture zombie like people so he can run experiments on them to find a cure for the disease which was meant to cure cancer. There are some pretty deep religious issues in this movie but I liked them being a faithful man myself. I did not expect it to be as scary as it was. . The movie was a little cheesy in some parts, but it worked out alright. If you are a teacher or want to become a teacher you should watch Freedom Writers. It is a very inspirational movie. I'm not really sure why Patrick Dempsey was in this movie because he didn't really have a big part and he was a complete jerk in it. Maybe he wants to change his McDreamy persona. Hilary Swank played the teacher role really good. I have liked her ever since Million Dollar Baby. She is a very versatile actress. The movie had some really big themes like tolerance, violence, death and other things but still was a movie that teens and kids (not too young) can watch. If you like moving and emotional movies, then you should check Freedom Writers out.
American Gangster (2007) Review 2008-01-01 18:40:14 The story follows NYC drug lord Frank Lucas and his rise to power in the late 70s. It's directed by Ridley Scott and stars Denzel Washington and Russel Crowe. I like to call him simply Denzel because everyone knows who I'm talking about. For consistency I will call Ridley Scott by his first name too. Ridley and Denzel made Man on Fire back a couple years ago and I think it's one of the best movies ever made. These two guys know how to make a movie. I'm surprised that a film about Frank Lucas hasn't already been made. His story is incredible and very complex. Denzel does a good job as the savvy gangster. Russel Crowe plays the FBI detective who pursued him in New York City and kinda New Jersey. Both of their performances were explosive but didn't butter up the story more than it needed. Lars and the Real Girl Trailer 2007-08-12 19:08:56 I find this movie to by slightly creepy, but sweet at the same time. I believe that Ryan Gosling is one of the best actors out there and he will make this movie good. Gosling plays a strange awkward man who creates a delusional girlfriend out of a blow up doll. He introduces his girlfriend to everyone as a girl he met on the Internet. Since the whole town feels bad for him, they play along with his delusion. He lives with his brother and wife who struggle with his strange behavior. Although the movie looks strange, I am guessing it will be better than the synopsis shows. 3 took the top spot this weekend. I suppose the Chan/Tucker duo is still funny. You would think people would be getting a little tired of Rush Hour, but the numbers don't lie. I think that Chris Tucker can get a little annoying after an hour, but Chan, he is a winner. Rush Hour 2 came out six years ago, so maybe people need a little bit of martial arts and comedy. Sadly I feel the law of diminishing returns has already set in for The Simpsons Movie. The dog days of summer aren't keeping people out of the theaters though.

Day Camp has a 2% on rottentomatoes.com and will probably be one of the worst rated movies of all time. I just don't understand why they would make a sequel to a movie that wasn't that great in the first place. They also let Fred Savage direct it. He has little to no directing experience. I loved The Wonder Years, but I don't think Fred Savage should be directing movies. I don't even think that kids will enjoy this movie. Cuba Gooding Jr. needs to stop doing these bad children movies. I remember at one point Cuba won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in Jerry Maguire. This is family comedy at its worst.

The moral of the movie is a "a persons a person not matter how small". But there is much more to the movie than that! The movie sticks true to the Suess style and image. Not knowing where his parents are or if they are even alive the young boy runs away from his adoption home following the sounds of music he hears around him. By following the the musical sounds he hears he winds up in New York City. From there he embarks on a journey guided by music to find his parents. The film is a beautiful reminder of the harmonic power that music has. It's a beautiful portrayal of how life and the art of music can be expressed as coexisting in harmony.
