Change of Shift 2008-02-22 12:51:00 It has arrived! Another fabulous edition of Change
of Shift
. Check it out here.
My "Definition of a Hero" entry was even accepted this week (I am honoured!)
Definition of a Hero... 2008-02-11 00:23:00 Copied with permission from a MySpace friend who is a fire figher and EMT in the US. I think it is beautifully written and gives you something to think about:
I wish you could know what it is like to search a burning bedroom for trapped children at three am, flames rolling above your head, your palms and knees burning as you crawl, the floor sagging under your weight as the kitchen below you Read more:Definition
The Big 3-0 2008-02-03 14:33:00 I didn't realize how much time has passed since my last blog entry; in fact I have even missed a few Change of Shift entries! Time has just been flying by!
Speaking of time flying by: Today I turned 30. I have been dreading this day for almost a year. It would make me angry, sad, scared... But last night that all changed.
I had a wonderful night out last night on my "Last night of my 20's B-day
Change of Shift 2008-01-01 16:14:00 As usual, I am late in my updating, but a new Change
of Shift
is up.
Check it out here.
Make every minute count... 2007-12-06 22:52:00 I saw a clip advertising a TV movie playing this weekend and the words kinda jumped out at me: (paraphrasing as usual) "What if you could have one more day with the one you love...." I found that kind of ironic, as it touches a little too close to home right now.
I am sitting at home right now in bed, with my beagle, Molly, sleeping in my lap. 24 hours ago I was a total wreck and at a complete Read more:every

Kids Say the Darndest Things... aka "If Only..." 2007-11-15 00:49:00 I read something online last night that made me a little sad and nostalgic. Thinking back to some of the many lapses in judgment I made over the years, I caught myself doing the “if only…” Had I made different choices at certain crossroads in my life, my life would be totally different right now…
I happened to have Kid Nation on a few minutes later, and one of the kids summed it up nicely. (I’m

Are we really that busy??? 2007-10-31 15:03:00 One of my biggest “bitches” in life is how supposed “friends” can so easily lose touch – it always amazed me how “friends” can’t seem to be bothered to take a few moments out of their busy lives for a quick email or phone call. This is supposed to be the “information age” with so many means of communication within reach and at our fingertips… telephone, cell phone, email, even snail mail! Yet
Something to Talk About 2007-10-14 20:22:00 I haven't been on my blog much lately, so thought I should write a quick entry - not that my life is too exciting lately!
Today I hit the 2000 visitor mark :-) So I guess I better find something to say ;-) I'm supposed to be doing homework right now, so of course, am trying to find any excuse to get out of it.
My mom is up visiting me right now. I was supposed to go home Thanksgiving weekend
Surmising Sunday 2007-10-07 17:20:00 Welcome to another epidsode of Surmising Sunday
.
Today's topic (hangover cures) is taken from the Oprah show, with the special guest being Dr. Oz. (I would love to meet this man - he is so amazing!)
Here is a clip from the show where he talks about hangover cures, and how to prevent them in the first place.
Change of Shift 2007-10-04 12:09:00 Change of Shift
is up at Emergency Room Nurse.
Another creative edition. It always amazes me how the host(ess) always manages to tie all the links together. The theme this time is "To Bob Barker - Thanks For the Memories." I even got my feet wet this time and made a submission.
Check it out here. Read more:Change
Pushing Daisies 2007-10-03 20:15:00 Ok - I have a new TV show to add to my list of current addictions... "Pushing
Daisies." I just think it is such a cute show! It's a dark/romantic/murder-mystery type comedy. It's quirky, funny, entertaining, and intriguing. I recommend checking it out if you haven't seen in yet :-) It premiered tonight, although I was able to watch it last night. So it on Wednesday's on ABC (but possibly
Surmising Sunday 2007-09-30 17:46:00 Welcome to another edition of Surmising Sunday
... to me a humorous edition.

Update (on life in general and dieting!) 2007-09-29 18:19:00 Well, school is in full-swing. I am surviving so far, but now assignments are starting to be due, and I’ve fallen a little behind on my reading, so panic is S-L-O-W-L-Y setting in.
My dad is doing well – thank you for your comments and emails! His surgery went well – they removed all the tumours, and a tissue growth in his bladder that was preventing the bladder from properly draining. This Read more:Update

Out of Town 2007-09-14 14:49:00 I'm currently out of town right now. We just found out my dad is unexpectantly full of cancer and is undergoing emergency surgery, right now as a matter of fact. So I am on compassionate leave for a couple of days so I could be there for his surgery. It's frustrating as just a couple weeks ago he got a clean bill of health, and after all the cancer treatments he has gone through, it doesn't
Change of Shift 2007-09-08 02:14:00 It's back to nursing school at Change

Surmising Sunday 2007-09-02 18:35:00 Welcome to another edition of Surmising Sunday

Today I have found an animated clip of what happens in the brain during a stroke.
"Aw....." Moment of the Day 2007-08-29 14:35:00 Otters Holding Hands
I think this is cute - as if them holding "hands" isn't cute enough, watch through to the end for the bonus "aw" moment :-) Read more:Moment

Today's entry is being changed from what I originally had prepared to post for today, as an at home incident made me decide to post on the topic of personal interest.
How to save a choking small dog or cat.

Sneaker's O'Toole 2007-08-25 17:18:00 Considering this seems to be the most common reason people come to my blog lately, I thought I would update this entry....
Here is the famous Sneaker's O'Toole clip:
Tell me that tune doesn't rattle around in your brain for days afterwards!
Background information that I have researched on Sneaker's O'Toole:
Sneaker's O'Toole is a Family Guy original. Unfortunately, there is not a
Change of Shift 2007-08-23 13:40:00 Horray - I am finally home to get the email on time this week!
Another fabulous "Change

Surmising Sunday 2007-08-19 16:27:00 I have been pretty busy again lately, but yet want to be more active on my blog site. To ensure this, as of today, I am introducing Surmising Sunday
s, a weekly blog entry featuring an informative medical topic of interest.
This week, I have found a video on what happens in the heart during a heart attack.

I'm Back 2008-05-24 19:43:00 Well, it has been awhile since I have last entered anything in my blog. Partly because my life has been pretty uneventful, and partly because my blog is supposed to be half personal (for the people that check it to keep up with the latest developments in my life) and half medical (focused on nursing/medicine/health stuff, etc), and I have been out of school for a few weeks now so have been
Viva Las Vegas!!!! 2008-06-29 23:45:00 A couple weeks ago I had the privilege of going to Vegas
. What an experience! I had such an amazing time! The things I saw and did. I was there for 8 days and I still never got to see everything!
My biggest highlight was going to see Elton John in concert at Caesar’s Palace. What an amazing show! “Elton John & the Red Piano.” Nobody else in my group was interested in going, so I Read more:Viva Las Vegas
Family Guy clip - "Over" 2008-07-11 22:09:00 Here is another one of my favourite family guy clips... let's see how long this one stays up!!
Scene from Family
Guy Season 6 Episode 7.
Stewie and Brian talking over walkie talkies at a construction site.
Transcript for when they pull the video:

Advice from a dog.... 2008-08-29 12:20:00 I wish I had my dog's view of exercise. No matter how long it's been since the last "workout" (ie. wak), the enthusiasm that she displays always amazes me. She's ready to head out that door at full speed. Just hearing the word "walk" can stir her from a deep sleep. It is the highlight of her day!
Sure, once I'm in the routine of exercising, it's not as difficult to keep it
