I'm having platonic feelings for that lady. It means in my mind I have put her on a pedestal and she's going to stay there put. Forever. My admiration for her doesn't come from loving her designs, don't like them to be honest (except for the bags, of course). I admire her attitude towards the thing she does, as she mastered to handle things using no gray shades, it's either black or white (metaphorically speaking), or in other words she exhaggerates in a very good way in everything she does. People also call it passion.Here's some exercises in exaggeration, and no matter if you dislike them, H&M would be the first to get inspired (and we all love H&M, don't we?)

It was inspired from and existing in the modern society (and I'm not talking about the Romanian one only) controversy between the phenomenons of "little girls trying to look and act older then they are" and "older women trying to look and act younger then they are". That's the short story.The Asian elements I used where the large velvet border trims from the Chinese men robe on dresses and Japanese Kimono collar and sleeves on coats. The fabric I used: Italian tweed, lambswool, French ecological fur, Italian mohair lace, cotton embroidered tulle, cotton light velvet (made for children's wear) and custom made lurex zippers.

The shooting of the new collection had taken place at Session club in Bucharest (Cotroceni area). It was a mix project meant to help more people. We started at 16.30 and finished at about 01.00. I do not normally enjoy shootings very much, as I have more control over a piece of paper or cloth then an image. Thanks to Roxana, I found out that Paulina (she's a make-up stylist) sported my b&w dress
at one of the night clubs in Bucharest. Accidentally, it is my favorite dress in my favorite color combination (yes, you can call me boring): black and white with a touch of red.I guess I won't get so excited when I will sell tons of my clothes worldwide, but at the beginning it's all so fresh and new that I'd rather take a moment and enjoy playing with this feeling, like a child with a new toy, as it will not last long (meaning I will soon get used to sell more). ;))

I have always admired people out of the box, or those who are trying to get out of the box. In some matters (in many, actually) I am very closed-minded, there's so many things I wouldn't do in my life, and I guess I do cherish them only because they give me an opportunity to do them one day and break free. Sort of.Now, I have a friend, Lucia. And there's only few things she couldn't do if she sets her mind to it (too bad she doesn't set her mind too often). So, last time I was in Milano she has painted her wall. Why is this amazing? About Pattern making. It is one of those boring things that you know you can handle, when in fact it's no fun at all. So it was true until I had classes with Mario
. All of the sudden, it turned into some sort of "comedy club show", with tons of jokes and laughs. The patterns were done anyway, but you couldn't figure out when.Ever since, it is not a chore anymore. One must have hunt dog legs to do the most at a fabric trade show. I guess I must have runned 8 km in one day.The fabric tendencies were:1. Eco-boring (the must when putting accents on cut and pattern)2. Colored-gypsy-friendly (yes, all those amazing acid colors with acid prints we were joking about were there, I couldn't dare though)3. Kenzo-flower-prints (lots, and lots! I got some too!!)4. Techno (just about anything covered in plastic, you'd be amazed to see WHAT can be covered!!)5. Paiettes (got those too)Actually, I ventured just to get some boring stuff: white popelin, black velvet and some plain tulle. Tomorrow (can't wait) leaving for Milano
again. This is my third Milano Unica, and everytime I feel there like a kid in a candy store. But first things first: "tortellini con prosciutto in bagno di burro con salvie" and lots of red wine at my best friend. I find the tendencies and the amount of gorgeous fabrics at the trade show really corrupting, because instead of having your mind work on what cut to use or how to twist that pattern you're all into 1.prints, 2.more prints, 3.colors, 4.even more crazy prints. so far my favorites have been Liberty (prints of course, but expencive), Diverchildren (cotton prints, very light cotton velvet, super prices!), and Tissavel (the most beautiful end real looking ecological fur ever).I'll write more after I come back.

A dear friend of more than 13 years, Geta Burlacu was selected to represent Rep. of Moldova at Eurovision 2008. I am really, really happy for her! I have made few changes. Since there are 3 brands that I am handling right now, it made sense to me to gather all info I have on them in one place.Two new Autumn/Winter 2008-2009 collections I have designed are almost ready, it's just a matter of making a catalog and expose it.I have started the research for the next summer ones.There's one thing I've learned meanwhile: Quod licet Iovi non licet bovi. That being said, and on our way from "bovi" to "Iovi", we have things to do, people to see.

I went into production of previous season collection. At the same time I am in charge of another new brand's collection (some 50 pieces with a third made of jersey) and my own. The reasearch for fabric and accessories is done, I am using some fine Italian wools, lace and the best (IMHO) ecological fur one can find at Milano Unica. I will keep the same line, add one more, and restricts the proportions. It has a name but it will be out with first campaign pictures. I am making the patterns according to the French patternamaking method from 50-es. Although I will have nothing in common with 50-es.

On November 6th 2007 I was invited alongside 7 other Romanian designers to complete a London look (by our opinions) at the "Get The London Look" event organized by Rimmel London.I did show one of my early one-of-a-kind creation which I heavily accessorized for the foggy weather. Still, it is useful to keep in mind that the fashion and the way people dress today are deeply globalized. I am going to show the next seasons A/W 2008-2009 collection at "Pret-A-Porter" in Paris next January. At the same time I am looking for a showroom in Milan. Although it is harder to enter Milan then Paris.Meanwhile, I am involved in designing another ladies line for a factory in Bucharest. It is really challenging and exciting to realize 2 collection in 2 different styles. I will be adding news about MY GA, before its web-site is going to be build.

The Neutrals. If your wardrobe contains more neutral shades, you have more room in experimenting with accessories and still be on the "safe" side. The beige dress was also a best seller. It is made of Linen and Cupro, which gives it a subtle shine.

I never thought that colors are hard to handle, yet I've noticed that people normally restrain from bold ones in favor of neutral ones. Anyway, I kept the lines clean and clear in this collection. I can say that it was likable, although a bit too ahead of its time.

It's a dress that sold the most. On demand I have also made it in another variation: black linen+cupro (that added the "shiny" element") and black cotton velvet (which absorbed the light) and red cotton on the inside part of the ribbon. Very classy, yet particular Little Black Dress!

The first season's collection S/S 2008 has few elements influenced by the traditional Korean dress called“Hanbok”.The first collection was received ok. I went to show to Upside Milano in September 2007 , the collection was received well. It got the media attention as well as the buyers. Back home was part of the Fashion Show "Best Newcomers 2008" . Overall, the start was a good one. They say the first 5 season are crucial to a brand's existence. So far so good. The truth is it's all about work, work, work. s to get a feeling on where to things are going.... They're going pretty much everywhere. I have e theme in my mind for my next collection. It's the "Dolce Vita" only in Cote D'Azur colors. I have approached it once before, but it was for a men collection made as an exercise for Bottega Veneta. I don't necessarily see them as inspiration (but may be my subconscious does;)) I just love beauty in it's visual expression. It brings good material for dreams too.Here's few...There's this Chinese artist Der Jen that makes these beautiful fairy-tales pictures of Chinese princesses (I think she uses a mix technique) which I love to look at. So far my collection of her works is only digital, but I plan to buy her books too. And then there's Alfons Mucha... and a month page from a Japanese calendar (don't know the month but the girl is beautiful).

Preview of What Might Have Been.....

As always in developing a product (in my case) it begins with one style just to end up with a completely different one. That's why they call it "product development". I guess.And there's more things to keep in mind then just the styles and colors. I came to a conclusion that I was using way to many fabrics (8), and although the color range was ok (black, white beige and 1 color print) it still did not save the situation that later on I might be facing when having a minimum which I can't cover in case the color I wanted was not in stock. So I made changes, and I reduced the number of fabrics used (which is logical anyway, for a small and compact collection that I want).Besides, counting on prints makes thing easy, and I don't want easy. Romanian edition launch, it was within the preview of the Romanian Fashion Week show. Did I mention that I was listed to take part this year at the Romanian Fashion Week?..It was raining cats and dogs that day and I arrived soaking wet. Had to stay till the end though. The event was full of all sorts of fashion, media, acting people. "Everybody who was anybody" was there.here's the pic.

I've had my Debut at Romanian Fashion
Week 2008. The event was held in Iasi, on May 8th and 9th.I could only see the collection when I got home, as I spent all the time in the backstage (hectic, I must say).Here below are the pictures (from Stiletto.ro).
