As you may or may not remember, I homeschool my son. I’ve done so since he was born, basically. He’s never attended a regular schoool, and that’s just fine for both of us. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s definitely worth the effort, on both our parts.Last Spring, my next door neighbor mentioned he was taking his 5 yr old to kindergarten testing.I thought… hmmm, testing for kindergarten??? I asked what that entailed, and he said oh you know, they test them on shapes, colors, abcs, that sort of thing, just to get an idea of where he is.I thought wow… if kindergarden is all about abcs and shapes and colors, and that’s ALL, then umm… what are parents doing with their kids before that?
I bring this up because this weekend, I bought my daughter her first “homeschooler” workbook. This is for preschool, and she’s 3-1/2. She knows her colors. She knows her shapes. She can sing the ABCs and recognizes some num

*gasp* vanilla???? 2007-01-08 20:10:02 I’d grown a bit concerned when I noticed I was getting hits to my blog from someplace called “vanilla edge“. I thought “uhoh”. Of course, I know that my blog has pretty much fallen into the abyss that is vanilla. Of course, I hate that fact, but hey, when it’s not there, it’s not there.
So today, I found myself with some time to peruse some of the wonderful people who have linked to my blog. I decided to check out this “Vanilla Edge”. What a nice surprise to find that it’s NOT a vanilla blog LOL While I haven’t read a whole lot on it (my children just LOVE to read over my shoulder, grrr), what I did read was quite ummm… interesting

On the (virtual) eve when I will, for the rest of my life, not have to worry about birth control ever again, they finally come up with something that might have been useful for me & hubby.
Spray On Condoms !!!!
How unfair is this? I have tried almost all forms of birth control, with the exceptions being the patch, shot & IUD. I’ve used the sponge (they were taken off the market and that scared ME!), pill, diaphragm. Of course, we’ve used condoms, but they were highly annoying, and in the end, irritating! They’d cause him to lose his erection, which of course, causes me to lose my ummmm… well, whatever we get Spray on condoms - This is just too funny. You stick your dick in a can, push a button and your dick is instantly enveloped in a loving coating of latex for a “tailor made” fit. This might have worked for us! Dammit.

So, I was up at 2am because my beautiful little blonde haired girl wanted to come sleep with me because, as she states “I like you, mommy”. How can one say no to this? I did. I said “hey, let’s go sleep in your room!” and followed her back to her room, snuggled up to her and tried to warm her up because her brother had left the window cracked open. It was -7 degrees out. I’m thinking… we don’t need THAT MUCH fresh air. And the beautiful little blonde haired girl does not wear pj’s - nightgowns - or anythign resembling clothing to bed. She absolutely, resolutely refuses. I’m lucky to get a diaper on her (it’s the ONLY ONE she wears all day, so don’t go there), and she’s always been like that. She likes it cool. I keep the thermostat at 65 at night, and we all seem to sleep better. Except when certain 10 yr olds go to bed WITH THE WINDOW OPEN. Four Jobs I Have Had in My Life
1. Waitress. My parents owned a restaurant back “in the day” before I graduated high school, so I worked there. I liked it, enjoyed working with people.
2. Bookkeeper. One of my first jobs was as a bookkeeper in a law firm - really scary if you know me LOL
3. Secretary. This is what I did for the majority of my working career. Didn’t necessarily LOVE it, but it paid the bills.
4. Cashier. Done this a few times - I enjoy it, much for the same reasons I enjoyed being a waitress - I like working with people (just not necessarily FOR them). The hardest part of cashier is being on my feet for so long, so I try not to do that.

Hubby & I ran away last night. We hit Pizza Hut for some dinner to go and drove to a motel here in town. Snow had been falling for a couple of hours and everything looked so nice, serene. Hubby went in and registered, got the key… and we went to our room. Our babysitter had been forewarned that we’d be late, so we had all the time in the world. It was nice. We sat and had our dinner, recalling the old days when all we could afford for our “night out” was pizza, while our son stayed w/my mom.
