A Love – Fool
2007-11-14 21:32:44
Love is a poison of heart, never been cured. Love is a pointed arrow that stabs Into one’s heart be a hole. Loving someone and never been loved back, That is much and much more hurting. It’s the shame of mind, Of a love – fool….. But, that one you love…. Possessed, That’s much much more deadly hearted. It’s like the Thames of Tear, Flooding up your eyes. It’s like the light of sky, Splashing on your heart. It is when you are likely to say… something, But you cannot explode. It’s the mysterious shadow, Catching up your shoulders. It’s the road of your heart, That never reached your beloved’s heart. And it’s ashamed, that you couldn’t get back.

Laos the Tranquillity
2007-11-14 21:19:08
It was quite hard for me to start the story of Laos trip, just a few days ago passed. Why? It was because in one side, there were pictures in Laos I had got used to which simply made me feel quite familiar with them. And that meant that I didn’t know how to explain for what I already got used to it. Nevertheless, a man must have some things among many that appeal or at least remind him of something in the past. And this was like what I had experienced in Laos. The small towns nestled in the mountains of Laos, apart from Vientiane the capital, including Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang, also have some things that reminded me of my childhood. This was the first time for me in Laos, with another two friends of mine. We settled all plans for the trip, except the accommodations which supposed

Who is Samuel Taylor Coleridge?
2007-11-10 00:06:52
Samuel Taylor Coleridge is one of the English poet during the Romantic Movement. He was born on October 21, 1772, in Ottery St. Mary, Devonshire. He was the youngest of fourteen children. His father, John Coleridge, was vicar of Ottery and headmaster of the local grammar school. In Coleridge’s childhood, he loved reading very prodigiously and he was very interested in romance and Eastern tales such as “ The Arabian Nights’ Entertainments”. After his father’s death in 1781, Coleridge entered Christ Hospital in London where he completed his secondary education. (Goetz, 1991, p. 447) During his study at Christ Hospital, he was admitted into the small group of students called the Grecians, the best classical scholars at Christ Hospital, who were working for a university scholarship o

Reflection on The Rime of The Ancient Mariner (by Samuel Taylor Coleridge)
2007-11-10 00:06:04
After reading the poem The Rime of The Ancient Mariner, it is to say that this poem is another wonderful work of Coleridge's works. He can give the readers the whole picture of the poem, which emphasizes the theme of nature discrimination. The poet creates the picturesque nightmare in the sea by using the techniques of imagery, symbol, and personification. These techniques are also used for creating the " Life of Nature " which is one of the themes of nature. The sun, the moon, the skeleton ship, the bird named Albatross, the Hermit, and the wedding at the church, seem to symbolize something belonging to nature or the universe. For example, the sun with its hot radian, and the moon with its cold, calm, and peaceful images, are th

Analytical essay for Night of Freedom (by Cyprian Ekwensi) (Language and stylistic features used in the story)
2007-11-10 00:03:30
In my opinion, Ekwensi can begin his story effectively raising his story with the Independence celebration of the Nigerians. His language is easy to understand.  Allusion from historical movement plays a great role in his work. He refers to the European Imperialism and its results here after. Besides, many of sentences in the story can describe well the feelings and atmospheres of the characters and the situations. The uses of blank verse and cadence can create the sense of conflict in Chini’s mind, we can see in “Now my country is free, but I … I am in chains” or “…. Independence. Francois. Love. Marriage. Independence. Independence.  Freedom !……” or “… I don’t love this man… I love him

Analytical essay for Night of Freedom (by Cyprian Ekwensi) (Theme and content)
2007-11-10 00:02:08
Nigeria we hail thee Our own dear native land Through tribe and tongue may differ In brotherhood we stand Nigerians all and proud to serve Our sovereign motherland   In the first place, it is to say that this story is not just a romance story but it also shows a conflict in mind of a Nigerian woman about her love to Francois who is her boyfriend, and her love to her country, which is just becoming of freedom. To add this, we can say that the theme of this story is a combination of themes of love concept, freedom, and feminism. To describe this, it seems that Ekwensi tried to tell us about the different concepts of love of the Africans, represented by Chini and of the Europeans, represented by Francois. For Chini, after Nigeria got freedom from Imperialism, it seemed to her that more l

Analytical essay for Night of Freedom (by Cyprian Ekwensi) [Setting (Place and time)]
2007-11-10 00:00:59
From Night of Freedom , some parts of Ekwensi’s life are hidden in the story. First of all, it is to talk about the story’s setting. The present setting of this short story is in the capital city of Nigeria, Nigeria, which is Ekwensi’s country. The first scene is at the Federation Square, at one night, where people crowded to celebrate for their Freedom, after being of Imperialism of the Europeans for hundred years. This scene shows the power of the European colonization through the glow firework displaying as the image of the coronet of Queen Elizabeth the Second. This setting also is the beginning for us to know that Chini was thinking about the freedom of her country and the freedom of herself. She loved with

Analytical essay for Night of Freedom (by Cyprian Ekwensi)- Background of Cyprian Ekwensi
2007-11-09 23:59:45
Night of Freedom is one of fictions, which were reflected by Cyprian’s background in the time where Africa becomes independent from the Imperialism of the Europeans. Cyprian is one of Nigerian authors, who took a great role with other authors as a group of people acting as the reflection of the time being. Cyprian Ekwensi is important in Nigerian writing for many reasons. He was such a strong supporter of the process that brought about the creation of Association of Nigerian Authors or ANA. He is not only one of the most prolific African writers of the twentieth century but also a man who has had several different professional careers besides that of writer. He was born in 1921 in Northern Nigeria, but attended secondary school in Ibadan, in an area of the country that is predominantly Y
