Powder Shot to the Face 2008-02-12 15:47:00 Have you ever had one of these? A powder shot to the face? If you have, you know the feeling. It's tremendously rewarding. On Saturday, I stood in a crowd of 50 plus people with my tallest Rippin Skier and hiked to the top of the ridge in Montezuma Bowl at Arapahoe Basin. Once we cleared the first fence, we quickly clicked into our skis and dropped in the bowl. I can tell you it was one of the scarier times with 50 plus crazy skiers and snowboarders going as fast as they can to get a fresh line of DEEP POW. I traversed and nearly got nailed twice so I quickly made a hard left and bombed down. I had a great line and was making killer turns. With each turn, I felt the powder nailing my face more and more. It's truly a fantastic feeling. I was in my element and was increasing speed. I was kne Read more:Powder

How the Weather Affects Your Day 2008-01-30 17:57:00 The weather today in Denver Colorado was sunny, warm and beautiful with some wind. Although, the weather in the Colorado Rockies was much better. Breckenridge ski resort reported nine inches of snow today. It is weather reports or ski reports like these that make me have a rough day. So for me, the weather report showing a nice snowfall dump truly makes me a bit sad that I am not skiing in the freshies! On another note, last week I skied with old family friends. They are all Rippin Skiers. The most mature of the group was sporting a new black pin stripe outfit. It was a bit baggy, yet fit him great. Having the new, baggy outfit with a lot of pockets is definitely the way to go. Proper gear is an important influence in making your skiing enjoyable. This Rippin Skier proved to not
No title 2008-01-21 22:44:00 Are you planning to ski at a ski area on your ski vacation this year? If so, I recommend a Colorado ski resort. When you plan your ski trip, leave your ski boots and skis at home and just rent from the ski shop. Breckenridge ski resort is very popular. Just remember, don’t forget to bring your ski jacket, ski pants, and ski goggles with you. Actually, you should not forget any of your ski clothing including your ski mask. The Colorado ski report showed a very cold weather report during the past few weeks. Last Saturday was so cold, I was told I had frostbite starting on my nose. I had a white ring on the tip of my nose. With the windchill, the temperature was well below zero. I went into the ski lodge to warm up. I was freezing. The real question, is it worth it? Absolutely Yes!!! Arapaho

Excellent Conditions 2008-01-07 17:00:00 Ski conditions are amazing in Colorado. I had the opportunity to ski with a Rippin Skier on Sunday. It was our first POW POW day together and he rocked. He, the Nebraskan, achieved some serious lift off - aka AMPLITUDE. The day was so good I even jumped off a big rock. The landing was nice and soft! It just started snowing in Denver. It's been snowing in the mountains for days. This year is just simply fantastic. rippinskiers@earthlink.net
Spring Break Skiing 2008-03-20 17:18:00 Spring break skiing is a popular event in Colorado. Ski safely. I was at Arapahoe Basin a few weeks ago and overheard a loud speaking skier who was bragging to his friends about how drunk he was. It was 9:00am. Now...keep in mind...if you want to be wasted by 9:00am, ok and I guess good for you. But...if you are wasted by 9:00am, I don't recommend taking runs. Just chill out in the lot. It's safer for you and the rest of us. Gosh, I don't mean to sound old, but really, if you're really wasted you shouldn't ski. rippinskiers@earthlink.net Read more:Spring

Ski Season is NOT over! 2008-04-11 21:45:00 Ski season is NOT over in Colorado. As I was driving home this evening, the news reported on the radio that there was terrible weather in Frisco at I70. I'm sorry for those who may not be comfortable driving in this weather, but for the rest of us who are still skiing, this is great news! There's been a ton of snow dumped in the past few days including today. Hopefully it continues through the evening. This may be the last weekend for Vail and Beaver Creek, but we can still ski at Arapahoe Basin.I called a friend of mine and he said he was not into it. My only thought...this is one of the last weekends to have the opportunity to ski most places on the mountain including skiing in the trees. Soon, we won't be riding the lift for months. So get off your butt, and get out there. And Read more:Season
