The secret of a good post thats to be read online must satisfy two basic things.1. Should be concise.2. Should have a very unique introduction. Something that hooks the readers' attention. We may very well throw the first suggestion in the trash. This is a LONG post. So, most of you will be turned off by its length and close this window...unless I start out with something that intrigues you.Honestly, its been nearly 3 weeks since I last wrote anything, and may have got a bit rusty. I tried writing an intro over 22 times, each time typing it, deleting it, typing it again, deleting it...so on.Finally I came up with the perfect intro. Here goes.Ahem.Exams went ok. Went to jodhpur. Lived in a desert. Imagined a 50-foot scorpion. Came back. Math exam sucked. Going to Singapore to study multimedi

Admission blues

Ever have those moments where you find yourself choking someone or just punching them in the face...or in my case, first pulling my hair, then going out of the room, coming back in with an iron pipe and going homicidal on the computer....I hate online application forms. Filled in every little minuscule information they asked for, cross checked it, and finally hit the "send" button. All is good. Everything done in record time, now all that was left was them to look it over, forward whatever information is required by the immigration department and viola..I would get my permit to enter Singapore. But does that happen? Nooooooo.Instead I get a call saying my form is incomplete. Some of the information hasn't been filled. Impossible. I view the forms online again...Eh? What the...? Why are my cu

My blog gets an average of around 40-50 visits a day. Either via search engines or through other websites, you can keep track by feedburner.3 days ago it jumped to 120.2 days ago it reached 129Yesterday it jumped up to 169.... Weird. Also, the visitors are from different areas of the world... not from the cities that commonly log in to read my posts. Suddenly German, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and French are amongst the top languages my blog has been viewed in...... weirder.!!!!!!!!!I had checked the stats for today like...30 seconds ago...it was 76 visitors.. refreshed page...85 visitors. Now that is just too plain weird.Oh wait, there is more... apparently the most popular search item that is redirecting everyone to my page is this : Dragon tattooIs this a joke? WARNING: The following is a ... well, its a piece of my thoughts and I assure you there is no "LOL" stuff in here. If you are looking for any side splitting humor, go read my previous entry. After nearly ten hours of trying to design...something(no clue what) using circles and squares I lost my damn mind. Was just trying to make a funky, eclectic design which appeals to the eye. After ten hours...600 minutes, the only thing I accomplished was filling up each and every waste basket in the house...till all of them overflowed and I had to resort to dumping the crumpled up design ideas on my floor. Why go on a frenzy all of a sudden?Well... apart from the fact that I am now IN this field of study and I have to take it seriously now, I guess it was just boredom.Honestly, I don't think I am cut out

Blog addicts
2008-02-05 20:04:43
Are you people insane!!!I am talking to you all, the bloggers who I visit often.I take a temporary leave for 4 days...4... FOUR days, and I come back to see 107 new posts waiting to be read.107 posts written in 4 damn days. And on a weekend too. Don't you people have a social life or something. Here I was thinking I will have a few stories to read and will then update my own blog today...I come back and I see 107 huge posts waiting. Its not funny. How on earth am I to read them all today and write an update all in the same day. By the time I finish reading all 107 my head will be near boiling point. And its not like I can even avoid some posts because you people write stuff that is worth reading(which is why you are in my list in the first place). That is it. NO ONE UPDATES THEIR BLOG UNTIL

Iron Maiden
2008-02-02 14:28:56
As expected, the Maiden .htm">Iron Maiden concert in mumbai rocked!!!The first thing I would like to say, I am finally getting my hearing and my voice back... it was soooo loud, and when Iron maiden finally showed up in the end, all the continuous cheering and screaming gave me a sore throat the next day.But it was well worth it.The concert ended kinda quickly though. I guess I was expecting a bit too much when I assumed they will play ALL their songs... but they only played around... I dunno...15-16 tracks I think... wasn't counting... 16. Definitely 16.By the time the other "nobody really cares if you play" bands finished with their act, I was so hopelessly tired. Thought I would collapse at any point now. I had a major headache, and was amused to find out that Saif Ali Khan actually has a real band.

Metal in my brain

God said let there be light. And there was light. After a few ten thousand years, god was bored. He said, let there be Iron Maiden. And the world rejoiced in metal!TONIGHT! Iron maiden.....is playing in Mumbai. It started out like any other day. Woke up, got bored. Read the paper(funny pages), drank chocolate milk, ate a sandwich. Then, an old friend calls.Friend: (very excited) " dude, you are going to kiss me."Me:(not that excited) " dude, there is no way I am doing that, even if you turn into Catherine Zeta Jones"Friend: " I have tickets to Iron Maiden. Tonight."Me: " Dude, I am going to kiss you. How did this happen? I didn't even know they are in Mumbai."Friend: " yea yea, they are here...landed today. Get ready soon now. Around the World
2008-01-31 19:41:38
There comes a time when a writer succumbs to the dreaded "writer's block". However, there are times when he wishes to write something, anything, but has no topic to discuss.Yet he wants to write. What to do?Simple, time to talk about the world, again. Basically roam around the news network, find out whats happening in every major country, and share my thoughts on the subject. The last time I did this, Shilpa Shetty was kissed by Richard Gere, the "abhiash" wordplay was the latest news, and Dubyaman was still an idiot.Unlike the last time however, now I will also leave a link for those who are interested in reading the original articles. To go to the articles, click on their headlines. So, lets start now shall we.ASIAGandhi's Ashes, IndiaApparently, Mahatma Gandhi's (who died 60 years ago mi

A female me?
2008-01-31 18:00:47
I was browsing around on the net a few hours ago, randomly viewing profiles of people, hoping to see some interesting new people that have blogs...What I found was a bit amusing. There was a girl whose descriptions and personality matches mine almost perfectly. Its not only funny but also a bit irritating. I am no longer unique.I will not give the name just yet, but here are some of the matching characteristics I could identify from her profile and from what her friends had to say about her.The last point is the best of all.1. She is a gujju. Oy, me too.2. Loves pizza, but secretly prefers Chinese food more.Gah! My secret is out. Damn, hope no one I know reads this.3. Takes her time to get to know people. But once she does, she loves them all.Well, I guess this is common for all cancerians.

On boredom
2008-01-30 00:42:09
I am bored. And I can prove that I am more bored right now than anyone else on the planet. Wanna know how?I am so bored that I wish I had some college assignments to solve. I am so bored that attending a History lecture seems interesting. Good/ evil

Good "morning" eyes, and then... as the sun sets, evil shows its face....Some fun with photoshop. I know I overdid the evil part, guess I got carried away. Should have stuck with the faint dark skin and red eyes... sadly, by the time I realized it, was too late to change. Next time, remind me to use a better camera first :)Well, I do know a lot of tricks in photoshop, but like I said, every time its a new experience. Keep playing around with the settings until you get the jackpot combination.**** PROPERTY OF HERSHEY DESAI DO NOT STEAL OR MODIFY WITHOUT PERMISSION ****

Speaking out
2008-01-25 19:35:43
I just have some things to say. Thats the good thing about blogs, they can act as your personal psychologist. You just talk out stuff in your head and feel at ease. The only difference is, you don't have to pay here. If you are looking for humor at this point, go read the post below this. Those who decide to read, I warn you, this might bore you. Honestly I don't even feel like writing but I figured might as well say something out. Weekly absences are not good. Its a herculean task really, getting everything organized. Well, maybe I am exaggerating a little but its definitely a time consuming process. So, what have I been doing all week?Firstly, my novels have finally been arranged properly, as per category and interest. This took me around seven hours. Well, when you sort out around 1500 bo

Old Age
2007-12-26 15:04:03
Gah! It’s so troublesome to write something after a week. Not because you don’t have any topic, but you have so many that its extremely confusing. So I am just going to get into it, dive straight in and sort everything out later. Considering Christmas and New years being probably the most hot topics around, we aren’t going to read about that over here(for a while). But I may use some small references regarding Christmas here and there. Old age. I was thinking about it a few days ago… everyone has pondered on this question, “What will I be when I am old?” Usually they refer to careers, I took it in the literal sense… when I am say, 80, how will I behave… Turns out it’s not a pretty picture. Let’s compare today’s older generation with the future one so you ca

A not-so-happy ending
2007-12-13 01:50:48
It has come to my attention that, until now, all of my stories have been happy ones. All the stories which had Alex and Kathryn as the lead characters all had a happy ending. Even the times when Kathryn rejects Alex, he used to never give hope and try again another day. This is all fine and well, but, as a writer, I should delve in all aspects of literature. Therefore, I need to learn the element of grief and sorrow too. So, with that in mind, I proceed to write my first sad story. Mind you, it’s my first time so bear with me.Setting: college time. Meaning, all characters are in their college era.Alex slouched on his sofa. He was lost deep in thought. The past few weeks had been a real roller coaster for him. After an entire year of being rejected by Kathryn, his persistence had finally p

How to avoid boredom when the lights go off
2007-12-13 01:46:23
Welcome to another "HOW-TO" edition of Hershey's cave.Recently I have been getting a lot of power cuts in the house, which would be fine because we were prepared for it. Unfortunately the inverter doesn't seem to be working. Damn electricians. They could hook the damn thing to my fan but couldn't attach my lights. So basically at night I am thankful for not feeling hot and sweaty(wish I could though...but under different circumstances...ah..crude guy humor) however, I can't see my hair because the room is pitch black.I like my hair and prefer to see it before falling asleep.Anyway,Sometimes when the lights go off I tend to get a little crazy, do goofy things, say funny stuff, make silly noises etc etc. Gets rid of the boredom. Also, if you are in a group, it works wonders to get a few gig

Time and sleep.

Lets just start off with one tiny little issue. Its not even really an issue. In fact, would be better if I reply to my comments, but I if I answer the issue there, then I will have to greet everyone else. Otherwise it would be impolite.Anyway, raaji, I understand that not all blogs are about their writers. Some blogs are purely political, some are random useless facts, there are even photoblogs flying around the web. Which is why I said, "a blog is, at times, considered a means to...". However, when you "completely" disagree. See, I am weird lunatic who has this tendency to argue over the smallest things. I may have some psychological disorders too, looking into that. For now, its just exam stress so don't take this the wrong way, I am not bickering with you, but don't you think, that wha

A blog is at times considered a means for someone to share information about themselves to the world. I rarely use it that way, indulging more in funny incidents occurring around me and making everything take a comical twist as much as possible. On rare occasions, I do tend to crib and rant out my problems, not because it makes me feel good, nor because I want an audience to hear my problems. Its simply a reminder for how I felt on this day. A blog can be considered as a substitute for a journal too.Now I know I have stopped visiting my fellow bloggers for quite a while now, as a result almost more than 2/3rd of them have started to ignore me too. Funny how that works, a few handful still come and read what I have to say regardless of how many times I visit them. To my honest surprise, I wa

Make it stop
2008-03-12 16:31:00
For the love of god please make it stop!So many things flooding my life... everything begone! I am tired of this now...The constant annoying pain in my teeth.. Had all of my 3rd molars removed, 2 via surgery... now my smile is missing 4 teeth..luckily they were way behind and weren't visible in my smile anyway. But the surgery... for 2 days it bloated my face up... my lovely jaw suddenly changed shape and looked like a block...a big square. To top it off, I couldn't eat. Seriously, it wasn't the pain that made me stay on liquids for 2 days.Oh no no, it was the fact that my mouth was so damn swollen that I could barely part my lips... drinking water was a tedious process. I had to drink water...using a damn straw.Water...straw...heights of annoyance. Now, the swelling having considerably redu

Inking a sketch
2008-03-12 16:30:41
This is a simple reason why inking is essential after drawing a sketch .Unfortunately I realized that I could write a post on this after I finished inking so can't really show the "before" and "after" images...butHere are two different characters I drew last week itself. One is just a penciled work, the other is given more detail with ink. Forgive the lack of facial expressions... As you can see, the first one, the eyes are hidden out. And in the second one I drew the eyes, they looked weird, so I covered em up. I really need a LOT of practice with the damn eyes.Penciled:and now, the inked one:Look at it... the inked one looks like a printout! So damn cool.I also noticed quite a lot of smudges in the inked picture... have to remember to keep some cloth near me next time to frequently wash m

Coming back soon.
2008-03-09 04:49:49
Hey people.Terribly sorry for the week long absence(again). This time I do have a genuine reason. Apart from being extremely busy and traveling to far off lands, I did undergo a surgical procedure, and am currently in my rest period, trying to get back to my normal self soon... thankfully my wound sealed shut quickly, credit to my SUPER CLOTTING POWERS!Anyway, I should be posting A.S.A.P. with all the details, right after I give my blog a complete makeover.Over and out.Edit: I LOVE my new banner...its just sooooooooooooooo cute. have kept a plain white partly cloudy background for now...Also made some minor changes to the text on the left menu, and added a little something for those who wish to contact me.. going on a hunt to find a better background if I can...Until then, catch you later

Small update
2008-03-13 10:19:43
Well, I have modified the current banner for now.Actually wanted to change the whole thing(again) and put up a new one, complete with a whole new look for my blog. You see, I have just extended my knowledge of html a bit and really want to try stuff out on my blog. But I guess it does get a little annoying for the readers if I keep changing the color schemes every few days... so I think I will keep this one for a while. Very excited to try this stuff out, it will be quite a unique look. Already played around with some of the techniques, though only in "preview" mode. I have to say, looking very much forward to the day I renovate my blog. Will probably do it mid-April.In other news, the swelling is gone, the pain is hardly there, but these damn stitches have GOT to go. I am getting tired of

Immune system, where art thou?
2008-03-15 17:40:16
Maybe I should take up Prat's advice... need to rest. But, as lazy as I may be, sitting in one place and not doing anything is horrible thing to experience, like when a fat person sees nothing but salads around him. Scary thought. But right now, seriously could use the rest...what am I doing instead? Funny.... I am typing out my thoughts of relaxing a couple of days, and indirectly negating my own thought by sitting up straight and running my fingers over this keyboard(am guessing at this point some girl would have preferred I run those fingers elsewhere *wink*)Hey, just because I am tired doesn't mean I can't make silly jokes.Coming back to the problem, brace yourself, for I am about to whine.First, the damn toaster burned my bread(see post below this for more info). Then I guess yesterday
