Christmas 2007 New Game Buying Guide 2007-12-12 12:19:26 A few days ago I posted a game console buying guide for those trying to decide on a new machine, but “Which games should I buy?” you ask? Well here you go I’ll lay out a few of the best hottest games for each system and a few that are on multiple platforms. All of these titles can be found at Amazon, Play-Asia, EB Games, or any of the other sites under the “Shop Gaming” category on the left sidebar.
Xbox 360
Mass Effect - An epic RPG from BioWare, the company that brought us Knights of the Old Republic, Baldur’s Gate and Jade Empire. Customizable storylines and combat system, high replay value and even an alien girl-on-girl love scene make this one a must-have for and serious gamer.
Halo 3 - Do I really need to talk about this one? Go buy Halo 3 right now. One of the best FPS titles ever released. Period.
BioShock - Dark, demented and thoroughly creepy. A great FPS that puts you in a derelict underwater city inhabited by weird dudes in old-timey di Read more:Guide

Christmas Console Choices 2007-12-09 14:44:03 So here it is December 9th already and I haven’t done any Christmas
shopping yet. Have you done yours? As any gamer worth his salt will tell you, this season is a real good time to be a gamer. You’ve got three major consoles vying for dominance and your hard earned cash: Microsoft’s Xbox 360, Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii. With major title releases and price drops the Holiday season is one of the best times to get on board with a new console.
All three have their selling points, Wii is the cheapest at about $250 and it has the motion-sensitivity controls that make it easy to pick up and play by a wider audience. The drawback is that it’s graphics just don’t hold up to the processing powerhouses of the 360 and PS3. Still, innovative gameplay mechanics and exclusive titles like Mario and Zelda you can’t go wrong with this one (if you can find one that is).
The PlayStation 3 is the beefiest of the three with a Cell Broadband Engine Read more:Console
Twilight Heroes wiki issues 2007-11-26 12:33:08 So the Twilight
Heroes wiki that was my source of knowledge on the game has ceased to be. I guess the wiki lost it’s server/host and the redirect page it goes to when you try to go there doesn’t actually redirect you to anywhere, bummer I know. But all hope is not lost! Some industrious folks in Twilight Heroes‘ first (and only) guild have taken it upon themselves to remedy this. The new wiki will one day be bigger and more comprehensive than the old one but these things take time. Take a look at it and feel free to contribute to it here:
Twilight Heroes Wiki
In other news, the holiday weekend is over and the countdown to Christmas/Chanukah/whatever has begun. But before we get to that I thought I’d mention some of the things that went down in my two new favorite games: Twilight Heroes and Kingdom of Loathing. Sweet.
So Twilight Heroes rolled out it’s first new content in awhile in the form of a limited time quest to find and defeat an escaped convict ca
Kingdom of Loathing review is up! 2007-11-20 13:39:13 Hey everybody! It’s been a few days since I posted any updates around here and for that I apologize.
I’m going to try to be more on top of things around here, but it may prove difficult due to a new job I start tomorrow.
Regardless of all that, there is some good news, I finished my second review
and put it up! The Kingdom
of Loathing is a browser based RPG from Asymmetric Publications. I have only recently discovered the browser-based RPG but the genre has hooked me, no costs, no software, no hassle! Do yourself a favor and try one out today.
Both of the reviews here so far are this kind of game but fear not, there are console, PC and other games reviews on the way. Just be patient (I know, it’s hard). Oh and don’t forget to register on the forums and post some ideas, I look at them every day even if I don’t reply.

Twilight Heroes Review is up! 2007-11-17 17:37:58 Okay so after several hours of trial end error I think I’ve gotten the hang of this. I switched a few thing around and added our first review, for the browser-based RPG Twilight
Heroes. Not a bad afternoon’s work if you ask me. Not gettin’ paid for it but hey, gotta start somewhere huh? I’m going to add a few more reviews this weekend so check back in a few days to see what’s cool that you’re missing. Until next time.

(semi)Daily Update 2007-11-16 17:46:51 So now comes the hard part huh?
Coming up wit content for the site.
I’ve got some pretty good ideas percolating in the old noggin. I’m going to start with some reviews of games I’ve found on the web that don’t cost anything or have any special system requirements. I was surprised at how many high quality games there are out there considering that all the ones you hear about have monthly fees.
But that’s the next week’s work. I’m also going to get some friends of mine to contribute some content as well (Hernando). We’ll be hearing some opposing viewpoints and input in areas that I personally have limited knowledge of.
So all in all it’s gonna be an eventful couple of weeks. I hope everyone will leave comments and suggestions as the site grows and evolves. Also don’t forget to check out the game sites I have links to and spend some quality time in the arcade, I dug up some pretty sweet old games you can play from here for free.

Welcome to Gamer Hero! 2007-11-14 14:52:55 Welcome everyone (I know, nobody’s here.), this is the official first post on the first day of what I hope will one day be the one stop shop for all your gamer needs.
I know it will take some time but eventually this site will rock! I plan to include Both console and PC games including (but not limited to) web based games.
But that’s not all true believers! No sirree! I will also be posting other types of games on here, you know, games that don’t require a PC or a console (GASP!).
Trust me, this will be a GOOD thing folks. I’m not gonna be preachy or too fan-boyish and I will welcome all input and suggestions. drop me a email and let me know what you want to see and I’ll try my best to make it happen!
Give me a few days and I’ll have at least SOME content for you to look at!
So there you have it ladles and jelly-spoons, the first big huge awesome post by yours truly, more to come in the near future!

Free Video Game @ Goozex 2007-12-21 13:46:41 Yes, you read that right. It’s really true; I signed up at Goozex Video Game Trading and within a week received a copy of Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance for my GameCube. The game was in great condition and I didn’t have to pay a cent. Since then, I’ve become positively addicted to Goozex’s amazing trading system.
Here’s how it works: for a limited time, when you sign up, Goozex will give you 100 points free. Game trading at Goozex is done with points, and 100 points equals many low-demand games. To give you an idea: Burnout is 100 points; Perfect Dark Zero is 150 points; Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is 250 points, Oblivion Game Of The Year Bundle is 600 points, and Mass Effect is 1000 points. In other words, 100 points can get you a really quality game - no Hello Kitty Island Adventure crap-tastic games that nobody wants. The higher point values tend to be reserved for brand-new games, or games with a really high demand/availability ratio.

Two many games this week! 2008-03-05 23:39:59 The gaming is getting heavy around here at the Gamer Hero homestead, I’ve upgraded my GameFly account to three games out at a time and I bought Saint’s Row. Plus there’s the little game dropping this week, today in fact, called Army Of Two, all of this is creating a bit of creative backup in [...]
BioShock GH Review 2008-02-21 09:47:18 Oh man, where did the idea for this game come from? I mean this is one dark and creepy em-effer of a game. 2K studios really out did themselves on this one. I’ve only had a working Xbox 360 for a few months but I’ve played a pretty good variety of games in that time [...]
Renting games from GameFly 2008-02-13 13:18:01 Remember the good old days when games cost around 30 bucks new and like 2 bucks to rent? Well I’m sorry to say that those days are looong behind us. Now we as gamers have to deal with skyrocketing console costs and unreasonably priced software and peripherals. The market for used games has gone through [...] Read more:Renting
360Voice or My Xbox has a blog! 2008-02-12 20:44:01 360Voice
. I was turned on to this site by one of the guys on the GH Forums and at first I didn’t think much of it. Then I registered my Xbox
live gamertag (well TootieCarparts did) and a few days later I had a personalized blog from my 360’s perspective. Weird huh? I thought so [...]

GH’s Multi-Platform Picks, Part 2 2008-02-05 15:21:51 Last time out we covered the First Person Shooter genre and half of the Action/Adventure games on the list. Today we’re going to finish the Action games and Fighting games. Remember, these are in no particular order and not every game is available on every system. Ok enough talk, on with the list!

GH’s Multi-Platform Picks, Part 1 2008-02-04 18:33:47 Ok people, this is it, the last list I’m going to make for the old generation of console games. This time it’s going to be the multi platform games, you know, the ones you could play no matter what system you owned? I know that the vast majority of those games were big steaming piles [...] Read more:Multi

PS2 Must-Haves 2008-02-01 10:13:07 If you’ve been paying attention you know that I’ve been giving you my lists of the best titles on the last generation of gaming consoles. So far we’ve covered the Gamecube and Xbox. Today it’s time for the Playstation 2 short list, and that’s the problem, the PS2 has more high quality games than the [...]
Gamer Hero’s Xbox Picks 2008-01-22 15:34:54 Last-Gen consoles may be going the way of the Dodo but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t any gaming goodness to be had! I know a lot of you are just now getting an Xbox
as the prices continue to drop and I commend you on your frugality, but which games should you buy for [...] Read more:Gamer
Xbox Live: Getting hooked up 2008-01-20 09:12:42 So yesterday I finally jumped on the bandwagon and joined Xbox
Live. I know that just about everyone who has a 360 has already signed up and are probably online killing each other as you read this. But there has to be a silent minority of folks who, like me, for whatever reason still haven’t [...] Read more:Xbox Live
Domain Registration 2008-03-13 12:20:57 Hey y’all, Zee here. So this post is kind of a departure from our usual all gaming, all the time programming, but I’ve been getting enough e-mails asking “how do I do what you guys are doing?” that I figured it was time to make a few how-to posts about starting your own blog. Review: The Simpson’s Game 2008-03-12 11:24:43 Ok so everyone knows that most movie or TV based games suck serious wind right? Right and as a rule that still holds pretty true even in today’s next-gen gaming world. So why even bother reviewing The Simpson
’s Game at all? Because it’s one of the few (very few) TV licensed games that DOESN’T suck, [...]
Bringin’ Down the Sky 2008-03-26 00:31:06 A few weeks ago BioWare released the first of what will hopefully be many downloadable content packs for Mass Effect, the awesome sci-fi RPG on the 360. Awesome. So I thought I’d go ahead and put my two cents in on this one since the Mass Effect is one of my current-gen faves. The short [...]
GH Review- Halo 3 2008-03-26 00:04:11 Everyone knows about this game already right? Well that’s OK I’m going to review it anyway. I know I’m not going to make any new friends by saying this, but I was a bit underwhelmed by this one. I know it’s probably just a result of year’s worth of hype and speculation but I’m gonna [...]
Finding A Good Web Host 2008-03-27 18:55:03 If you tried to access Gamer Hero yesterday and got nothing, we apologize. Apparently, my web host - even with my recent upgrade to a dedicated server - can’t handle even 25k hits in one day. Weak. But yeah, I figure that now’s as good a time as any to continue our miniseries on starting [...]
Galactica returns with a bang. 2008-04-05 19:45:59 YES! The long-awaited return of the most awesome of sci-fi shows hit the airwaves last night on SciFi and boy oh boy let me tell you, it was frakkin’ sweet! GH Review- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2008-05-09 16:41:43 This is the best first person shooter on the market today. I know I’m not making any friends with the Halo crowd here but I’m sticking to my guns on this one (sorry). This is one of those rare titles that not only lives up to the hype surrounding it but far surpasses my expectations. [...] Read more:Modern

GH Review: Condemned: Criminal Origins 2008-06-27 09:32:01 I know this one came out about two years ago but I just got around to playing it this week and so here is my shiny new review of a slightly old game. Condemned: CriminalOrigins
is a first-person shooter/ survival-horror/ action title from Monolith studios. Though it might sound like a bit of a [...]
I suck, I know. 2008-06-27 09:31:37 I know I promised a comprehensive, bi-weekly update of BSG this season, but I’ve been both really busy AND really lazy so I’ve decided to just do one big half-season wrapup and be done with it. So until that’s finished, I give you a new reveiw to view. A nice cheap 360 title to keep [...]
So you wanna be a tester… 2008-07-04 22:56:21 For as long as I can remember I have been critical about my games. We all are right? We’ve all been burned by a over-hyped game that fails [...] Read more:wanna
