BA, HUMBUG 1970-01-01 00:59:59 With only 7 days left until Christmas many of us may find it hard to keep our tempers in check.Working within a retail setting as a CSR at a local outlet, I find many customers are becoming more rude than normal. I understand that you may feel your time is the only time but that does not give you the right to become Ebenezer Scrooge especially to someone who has no control over procedures and price points.Instead of making that poor cashier feel like you no what, take a deep breathe and hold it to yourselves. If after December 25th you still feel a need to complain, keep all of your purchase information and get the problem solved through the right people and not the kid or senior citizen making minimum wage.It is hard enough for us retail workers to get into the holiday spirit and we do not need you Ba Humbugs making it worse. So please if you are the type of person who gets rude and becomes a big pain in the butt please take this advice...stay home and do all your shopping on line.Merr
Polar Bear Woes 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Last week we found out that the government is pondering the classification of the Polar
Bear on the Endangered Species List as threatened. Apparently they've finally accepted the need to recognize the problems sounding the disappearance of Antarctic's ice mass. By classifing the Polar Bear
as threatened our government leaders is taking a good first step in protecting that region's unique environmental features. But I can't help ask the question why?! Could they actually be accepting the facts supporting Global Warming? The present administration has made it clear of their intention to eventually drill for oil in ANWR. Protecting the Polar Bear on the Endangered Species List will also mean protecting it's environment, which in turn will make it more difficult for them to take over the area. I am all for protecting this vital environment and the unique animals living there but I wonder if the government really is. Is this a PR ploy to make themselves look good in the eyes of conserv
America Will Not Win the War In Iraq 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Until the Iraq
i people truly wants freedom there is no chance for democracy and no way for the United States to win.Freedom is not something that can be forced upon people. Freedom is something people wants and desires with no hesitation or doubt. People must want to fight and die for freedom just like our brave soldiers are doing all throughout the globe.I am sure at some level the Iraqis want the benefits of freedom such as free speech and the liberties to live in peace. But they do not really get what freedom is and until they do they will never get it. This is evident in the fighting and killing going on over differences in religious thought. Our government must realize that democracy and the freedoms that come with it can not be force-fed to other countries. We must also come to terms with the fact that other nations should choose on their own what type of government works for them. Unfortunately if that means living without the basic rights we have come to take for granted - so be Read more:America
The Who 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Mohegan Sun - December 1st, 2006Dear Pete & Roger:Thank You!
The American People Have Spoken 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Congress is now controlled by the democratic party and no matter what party you are affiliated with the duty of all American
s right now is to keep on our government's heels. We have given them all a wake-up call and demonstrated what we are capable of. We changed the balance of power that was unchanged for 12 long years. All week we've heard how this congress will rule in a bi-partisan fashion and that democrats and republicans are going to work together to solve the problems in Iraq, improve our economy and employment, and fight illegal immigration...Just to name a few.In my opinion, congress should have been following this philosophy all along. Words are easy to say. Acing upon words and getting the job done is much harder and it is our responsibility as American Citizens to keep an eye on our government and never let them forget who made them. We must not sit back for another decade and watch our nation fall from grace even more. We must keep our voices as loud as them, if not lou Read more:Spoken
Wii Catastrophe 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Wee for Wii
Contest Becomes TradegyIt is always a tragedy when some one's life is cut short as is the case with the 28 year old mother of three from California; and I truly feel and pray for the family she left behind. In case you haven't heard, this person entered a contest held by radio station KDND-FM which involved drinking as much water as possible and holding it in with out going to the bathroom. The winner would win the new game console Wii. Hence the contest name Wee for Wii. This person came in second place and a short time later lost her life to Water Intoxication. Several people from the radio station lost their jobs and deservedly so. The family of this person is proceeding to sue the radio station and I don't blame them. But here is my problem. When are people going to start taking responsibility for their actions? This woman bares responsibility for her own traffic death at least in part. She should have been listening to what her body was telling her. Reports indicate Read more:Catastrophe
Wiccan Ignorance 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Relating Harry Potter and the Wicca religion to evil is a show of ignorance. When is the last time in recent history that any of us has seen kids, regardless of age, discontinue playing video games or surfing the web to read a book? Not since JK Rowling's Harry Potter series has any interest in reading a single series been seen on such a national and global scale. Even the Lord of the Rings Trilogy couldn't influence today's young generation to pick up JRR Tolkien's literary masterpieces with the same magnitude as JK Rowling's work; no matter how good it was. And to put icing on the cake, Harry Potter isn't limited to young people. Adults have embraced the series perhaps even more so than their children! Therefore, Harry Potter has become something an entire family could enjoy together. You would think parents whose children are choosing reading over video games and other mind numbing activities would be thanking JK Rowling for introducing them to such a fun and enriching pass Read more:Wiccan
Extinction of Consumer Choice? 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I was talking to a friend the other day who brought up an interesting thought. He told me that over the past decade or so our choices in technology has been dictated by the industry. One of the issues bothering him was how HD televisions are causing the limitation of choice in televisions mostly in the larger chain retailers. There are very few options currently available to those not wishing to purchase such an item. After I pondered this idea further I concluded he was right! Here is my example:My brother and I love buying the pay-per-views for WWE. A few years ago we bought the program as usual but on the day of the event we were unable to view it on our t.v. My father called up the cable company and learned that we could no longer order pay-per-views because we did not have the cable box. Instead we had cable ready on our set. The company also tried telling us we would be better off investing in digital since analog was obsolete. Well my father was not happy to say it nicely. At Read more:Consumer

!While surfing the latest news on http://foxnews.com I came across a video link regarding anti-war protesters spitting on one of our soldiers. I was unable to hear the audio or read any text as of yet so anyone with further information please let me know. But the lack of information about this story has not lessened the sickening feeling in my stomach. I did not grow up in the Vietnam Era but remember seeing pictures of how badly our troops were treated. Those images still affect me today and the idea that we are starting to treat our troops like that makes me heave in disgust. We have every right as Americans to protest the war and our government's policies but we have no right what-so-ever to assault and degrade our soldiers. If it wasn't for our brave soldiers who have given themselves to protect this country we would not have the right of free speech let alone protest. Please to anyone reading do not allow acts of aggression and frustrat
Feed Mother Nature Right! 1970-01-01 00:59:59 There's been a lot of coverage lately about global warming. Today I read on http://foxnews.com/ that scientists have a doom & gloom attitude about our ability to reverse global warming from happening. They've basically said that no matter how much humankind reduces the emissions of global warming causing toxins into the environment, there is nothing we can do. This thought is far from the truth! If all human beings, not just Americans, do their part to start reducing toxic emissions, waste production and other hazards upon the earth we would all be better off in the long run. Eventually we will have to adapt to a changing climate but not only because of global warming. Our planet is a living entity just like our bodies. Mother Earth is constantly changing and there is a historic record showing the movement of our planet's climate as going back and forth between an ice age and tropical forest ecosystem. According to this record we are moving into a tropical environment and there i Read more:Right
Super Bowl Roar 1970-01-01 00:59:59 O.K. The Super
Bowl didn't end the way I wanted. I really wanted the Bears to win. But I am happy Manning proved he could win the big game and he did deserve the MVP. Better the Colts than the Giants or New England anyways. Now people could get off his back! So on to next year - Go Bears! I'm hopeful Rex could look back and learn from his mistakes and in the long run become an even better quarterback. Chicago Bears Fans should be supportive and give him a break. After all this was his first full season playing and he did help get the team to the Super Bowl
. So for the next six months I will hope and pray to the gods that be for The Bears good health - especially the defense - and look forward to the The Bears in Super Bowl XLII!
WARNING: "Vagina Monologes" is Destoying the 1st Amendment 2007-03-13 16:20:00 Three John Jay High School honor students were recently suspended for saying the word vagina during a reading of Eve Ensler's "Vagina Monologues". The reading was performed at a public reading session and the average age group of those attending were of high school age. No young children were reported in the audience. Before the reading school administrators told the girls not to use the word vagina but they did so anyways. The school administrators are trying to reason the suspension as being punishment for not obeying what was asked. But anybody with common sense knows this is not the case. Rather this is yet another example of how political correctness and the fear of hurting some one's feelings is slowly sucking the life out of the 1st amendment right of freedom of speech. It is also affecting how today's youth are learning how to think for themselves and speak their views openly. They can't!What ever happened to "sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt Read more:Amendment
WORDS 2007-04-10 17:15:00 Here we go again! Every time you tune in to the news there's more debates and rhetoric about those inappropriate comments Imus made about the Rutgers Women's Basketball Team. This is yet another example of how WORDS are becoming the new weapon of choice against this country's right of free speech. Was the comments unnecessary and heartless? Yes. But did those same words cause blood to spill? Did it cause the untimely deaths to those the words were directed? Did the words spoken from Imus's lips inflict physical wounds?Hello America: They were just WORDS! I agree they were wrong words but when the dust clears that is all they were and like it or not we do have a right to say what we want no matter how stupid it maybe to do so. When are we going to stop being so politically correct that every little comment is scrutinized. Imus said he was sorry. He has been suspended for two weeks and will more likely see the end of his career. But we all know that regarding this matter we have not
Paris Hilton: Celebrity Justice is Society's Injustice 2007-05-07 22:30:00 This past Friday ParisHilton
was charged with violating the terms of her probation stemming from an alcohol related reckless driving incident. The judge barred her from buying her way out and sentenced her to 45 days in a county jail. She must surrender by June 5th to begin serving her time. Hilton has been recorded on the news as saying this sentence is not fair. She went on to explain that she did not know her license was suspended and blah blah blah. Fans are outraged and blogging their support. Analysts are saying there is a good probability she won't have to service her time and even if she did it wouldn't be in the normal jail environment. She would be given better food, accommodations, visitation rights, etc... Therefore, she will be serving celebrity justice which will be yet another example of our society's injustice. If any of us "normal people" drove under the influence we would suffer the consequences as dictated by the law. If any of us "normal people" acted as irrespo Read more:Celebrity

TIME TO FACE OUR PROBLEMS 2007-08-07 22:30:00 I'm Back!!!! It's been a while since I've posted anything. But that's about to change and I will do my best to continue posting my opinions about whatever I feel like! After all that is our most valuable and honored freedom of being an American. And I am going to start with a posting regarding the awful bridge tragedy of last week. It took this horrific event to get the news conglomerates to start looking into our country's failing infrastructure. Everywhere you look there's crumbling and less than safe bridges and roads as well as buildings not up to safety codes. Why does it take the tragedy of loss to human life to get the news to cover this problem? I think it is about time we all do our part to start correcting this problem by writing to our local government officials and let them know this is a priority. It's time to let those in charge know it is time to start thinking about ourselves and not those countries who won't stand up for themselves and solve their own
WOLF TALK 2007-08-10 12:45:00 At the end of July I had the pleasure of going camping with one of my best friends. We went to Gardner MA where a wonderful man and his equally wonderful wife runs an educational wolf center. At this center there lives four wolves, one is nearly 18 years old, and a 2 month old pup pictured above who is destined to become a much valued ambassador for the education and preservation of wolves world-wide.It's been two weeks since this awesome trip and I still can't get out of my mind the sound of the wolves howling at night or the memory of walking in the woods with the pup's uncle. I am always looking at my digital photos and bugging everyone who will listen with my tales of that great weekend. I learned a lot too about the differences between domestic dogs, coyotes, and wolves along with all the misconceptions people have about wolves. Did you know that there has been no documented/confirmed case of a healthy wolf attacking a person ever in North America. The attacks that occur in whi
EULOGY TO MY FURRY FRIEND 2007-08-15 20:31:00 I few hours ago I came home to find that you had passed on from this world. Though you had been sick for the past few months you still managed to greet me every morning with your amusing chatter and whistles. Everyday, including today, you looked at me with those sparkling reddish eyes and fluffy face which always left me in such a good mood. Though we have known each other for a few short years it almost seems a life time that we've enjoyed each other's company whether it be watching t.v., reading a book, or eating our favorite ice cream sundaes (though you preferred mini yogurt treats). I've known for the past 2 months, since you were diagnosed with cancer, that our time together was short but that doesn't really make it easier for me when looking at the corner of my room where you lived. Wedgie - I want to thank you for all the fun you've given me and wish you all the peace and happiness a guinea pig could wish for in what-ever existence you are now living...good bye:(
Canine Justice 2007-08-28 20:25:00 This whole situation with Michael Vick and the illegal dog fighting activities he pleaded guilty to is getting way off track from the actual problem at hand. Many debates have surfaced attributing the horrendous treatment of those animals on socio-economic upbringing. Though I agree this is a legitimate argument, the focus should be on the rising problem of dog fighting activities, the abuse and torture of the animals involved, and the need for more strict law enforcement. In one article I read, an estimated 400,000 people participate in some way with dog fighting. Many children are helpers or spectators which only helps raise insensitive adults. Some news outlets have hit upon these issues and showed footage of the dog fights themselves - probably for dramatic effect. But most of the main stream that I've heard are more concerned with Vick's NFL career. This is a serious problem for this country that needs continued coverage and debate. The one good thing that came out of this case Read more:Canine

Tis' The Season To Count Our Blessings 2007-11-25 11:41:00 Tis' the season to count our blessings even though many others can not...Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone and the Christmas Holidays are just 30 days away, many people may start counting their blessings for what they have in live. For example, I am blessed to have a roof over my head, plenty of food and clean water to satisfy me at any time, and most importantly I am blessed for my family and friends who never stop supporting me. But we should never stop thinking about those around the world and in our own backyards who find little if not nothing to be blessed about. Here is an example that has been bothering me for days:Last Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, I read a horrific article about a 19 year-old Saudi Arabian girl who was the victim of a gang rape. She has been sentenced to six months in jail and 200 lashes because of being found guilty to being with a man whom was not related to her at the time of the attack. Originally she was to only receive 90 lashes but beca Read more:Season

WHEN WILD ANIMALS ACT WILD... 2008-02-13 14:33:00 I've been thinking a lot about writing this post since those tragic events unfolded at the San Francisco Zoo. Lives have forever been changed and like it or not we have only ourselves to blame. I am a huge supported of zoological parks and facilities. Not only do they provide hope for the survival of our planet's endangered species, but are also an excellent source of public education and awareness regarding animal behavior and the preservation of the environment. Unfortunately many people are lax around wild animals at zoos. They tend to think of the lion, tiger and bear in the cage as domesticated...oh my how wrong can that be! As a result, those who are bored turn to harassing the animal behind the cage or exhibit without thinking or looking about what they are doing. They forget wild a
Hillary Clinton: You Go Girl... 2008-05-11 21:27:00 Ever since the latest primary results, the outcry for HillaryClinton
's withdrawal of her run for President has increased ten fold. But she had stayed firm that she will not quit until all the State's have had their vote. Love her or hate her...agree or disagree...there is no denying that Clinton's actions are refreshing and a good example for all young people today. It is so easy to quit when things are not going your way. It is so easy to just forget about doing something because you may fail. It is so easy to turn your attention to those who seem to be a sure thing and shun those who may not be on top. But sometimes taking the easy road is not a very good example for our children. Sometimes it is better to not quit and keep going even if success is doubtful. This is what Hillary Read more:Hillary Clinton
Hillary Clinton: Independant Run? 2008-05-20 21:42:00 Congrats Hillary
for another win in Kentucky. I am glad she is not showing any signs of quiting even though most of the Democratic Party and biased media would love her to do so. As more and more people are hypnotized by Barack Obama's rock star persona, Hillary is moving forth until all State's have their say. Her no-quit attitude and willingness to not give up until the game is over is makin Read more:Clinton
