What would the Fed do?
2007-12-10 19:40:12
Are the Patriots going to go 16-0? Are the Dolphins going to go 0-16? Who knows and who cares. What is on my mind is whether the Fed will cut rates and once again save us all from the inevitable future. Real short, the economy is bad and everybody is looking for a boost heading into the Fed meeting. Most people are assuming that the Fed, who has already cut 75 basis points off the fed funds rate since September, will take off another 25. It will be interesting to watch what the reactions to the actions of the Fed will be. The US stock market is coming off some good rallies. I personally think the rest of the 2007 calender year will be dependent on how the market reacts when the announcement is made by the Fed. If investors buy, then I think it will spark a good rally for the rest of the month. If the bears come back around, then I might just hide until the new year. Share This

Don’t Finance a Roommate
2007-12-10 07:23:59
After college or even during, many people tend to set out to live on their own, usually with a roommate(s). Most of the time a roommate is there to help take some of the financial burden. Whether it be rent, utilities, internet, or television, there should be a strict budget or plan that everybody should be sticking to. Lot of times problems arise between roommates because they didn’t plan out correctly. I have compiled some tips to help you avoid problems when moving in with a roommate or just embarking on a new adventure with somebody else. Discuss Financial Habits and Goals Before you even begin to search for a residence. all people involved should sit down and discuss what your financial and life goals are. How long do you plan to stay in the area? What kind of career path are you going to take? Do you or they currently bring in enough income? The last thing anybody wants to do at such an early stage of their life is to harm their credit, so if you are going to have other p

Timber Construction Company
2007-12-10 04:14:24
So I came across Timber Construction Company. A quick overview of their company site - Vermont Timber Works - shows that they specialize in commercial and residential construction using timber frame. You can also see their post & beam home. According to them, You will find beautiful photos of custom designed commercial and residential projects, houses, homes, wonderful interior designs, drawings, specifications, and 3d renderings. Every project - commercial and residential - is unique, and all are custom designed, hand crafted and structurally engineered to meet the individual needs of our clients. We are different, because we focus on the frame. One factor that I think is special about Timber Construction Company is that they keep their traditional methods. For example, they stay away from automation, which allows them to create their unique designs. All businesses should have that special something that makes people want to come to them for that something special, and Timber Con

Currency ETFs
2007-12-09 13:00:22
As some of you may know, over the last couple of months I have been just dipping a little bit into learning FOREX. I came across this interesting article on investopedia.com about Currency ETFs. I never even knew there was such a thing. You can basically trade currency like you would any ETF or stock. Now, you can have General Electric (NYSE:GE) and the British pound in your portfolio by holding the CurrencyShares British Pound ETF (PSE:FXB) in the same account. Have an IRA? Sprinkle some euros in there by holding the CurrencyShares Euro ETF (PSE:FXE), and offset some downside risk of your S&P 500 holdings. The article takes a look at many different ways you could work and play these within your own portfolio. This is definitely worth a look if you are looking at widening your diversity - Currency ETFs Simplify Forex Trades. Share This

No Bubble in Technology
2007-12-09 06:07:02
I just had to take a quick break here and show everybody this great video I found posted on The Digerati Life. It basically sums up the technology burst back in the early 2000’s (feels weird to say that) and the current status. The song is pretty catchy too. Share This

Holiday Saving Tips
2007-12-08 13:32:14
Lot of people are probably shopping this weekend for the holidays. I will be going out of the country in a couple weeks (which I will talk about as time gets closer), and I have to buy gifts for all my relatives. I thought I would share some of the things I do to try and save some money or at the very least not break the budget. These tips can also be used through the year. Avoid Peak Times Whether it be a whole day or the 5 hour sale, I try to avoid these times as much as possible. If I have looked through the ads and there is something I just need to get, then I will just walk straight in, buy it, and walk straight out. During these peak times, stores will try to play on the fact that everything is on sale. They will usually keep the hottest items on display where everybody can see and usually there will just be a few items left. The first instinct for everybody is to quickly grab it and buy it before somebody else can. The only problem is that you walked in the store for something

New Opportunities
2007-12-08 01:48:26
It is amazing to think that this site has already been up for 3 months and it is still going strong. One thing I have noticed in any business is that the longer it is around, then the more opportunities there are available. One opportunity that has now opened for TheWildInvestor is the ability to now get paid for writing reviews of certain products or services or another way to drive in revenue for the business. With this money, there can be enhancement to the site. Now you may be thinking, what does that do for you? Well through PayPerPost, a publisher is required to select a category that best relates to the website, such as: business, money, fitness, and so on. Once you find the right category, you are given several products or services that can be reviewed based on the category that is selected. So what this means is that now I have the ability to bring you new resources that you and I may not of known about, while I get paid for it at the same time. It is a win-win situation. The

It’s Not all Peaches
2007-12-18 07:00:45
So the other day I was at the gym playing a pick up basketball game. It was just a couple of guys gathering around to bring out their inner Kobe Bryant. Anyways I came across a guy, who said he was 28, but he had an interesting story to share with me (if it is true that is). I have never had any experience working with an actual stock brokerage, so I don’t know what all the legalities are, but, until proven otherwise, I will give him the benefit that he is telling me the truth. While we were playing he asked me if I worked. I began to tell him about my investing, and right there an immediate bond formed. His story goes as followed (we will call him Fred): As an undergraduate Fred was admitted to Wharton where he was in the process of pursing a degree in economics. According to him lot of students begin to get recruited by great firms on Wall Street during their junior years, since it is one of the best finance schools in the country I didn’t doubt that. Fred apparently re

Heading to India
2007-12-17 06:04:19
On Wednesday December 19, 2007, the Wild1 will be spreading his wings and heading off to India . I will be there until January 1. The main purpose of the trip is to attend my cousin’s wedding, but why not try and turn it into a money making opportunity? So other then visiting and hanging out with my relatives, I am going to try and see if there are any worth “wild” investments that grab my attention. I have already planned to meet with the Founder Sameer Nerurkar of Samira Habitats. His business has made rapid moves in the last couple of years and one of the hottest acts in the Mumbia area. Their expertise lies in strategic land development. Basically Samira Habitats is looking for investors to purchase a bundle of land, while they develop the land and surrounding area. Eventually they will buy back the land from you at the agreed upon contract, and all parties will be better off. But, of course, this is just a short excerpt of what the company does. I will be sure t

Formaspace
2007-12-17 04:20:52
I am a huge tech heavy person. I like to have as many gadgets and gizmos as I can. One of my mottoes is that you can never have enough monitors; however, as time goes on you eventually out-grow your space or you just want more room to expand on, but there still is one problem. You can’t just go and buy any old piece of office furniture. If you are like me, then you would prefer to have a piece of furniture that could be considered a “gadget” also. Bring in Formaspace. They have furniture built for any type of work, even Lab Furniture. If you don’t like what they have pre-made, then you can also customize your own workspace. The site alone might just be a place to get some form of entertainment, but I also like these type of sites because it gives you ideas on how you can set-up your current space. So check it out. Vegas Then and Now
2007-12-15 07:34:05
I love everything to do with real estate and I especially like to see the history of popular places, such as Las Vegas . I came across this interesting slide show on msnbc.com -Vegas then and now. It tracks the time frame of when people first came to Vegas to work on the Union Railroad to being able to get on a ride that flings you off the edge of a hotel building and back on. I will never get on that ride. No this picture is not a representation of the Las Vegas real estate market. Can you imagine that used to be Vegas? I mean obviously it wasn’t full of casinos forever, but wow. Share This

Run an Open House
2007-12-25 07:00:10
Before I left to India, I took part in a pretty cool money making opportunity. A Realtor in the neighborhood needed somebody to run a couple open houses for her. The hours could be Saturday and/or Sunday between 1 pm to 4 pm. Since I am not licensed to sell real estate all I can do at the open house is either pass the question on to the Realtor later or “point towards” the answer in the brochure or something. I would also be required to buy balloons, stick up signs, and bring some baked goods. At the end of the open house I would need to fax her the contacts sheet. For my “hard work,” I would receive $18/hour, plus $20 that would replenish the money I spent on balloons and baked goods. Not bad for just a couple hours of work. Share This

Managing Portfolio out of the Country
2007-12-23 07:00:36
So it has been about 4 days since I landed in India, and it marked the first time that I would be managing my portfolio outside of the U.S. When I normally go on domestic vacations, internet is pretty much located everywhere. Sometimes you have to pay a small fee, but nonetheless, you can pretty much access it whenever you want. Different story in India. Since I am staying with some relatives internet access is not as convenient as I am used to. Rather then just paying a regular monthly fee, here they charge you by how much internet is being used, and the quality is probably similar to DSL. So when the internet is not being used they turn it off. Although it might not seem like much to turn it on, if you only have a couple minutes then you might not think it is worth the trouble to go and switch it on. Other then that the timezone difference is pretty large. I think it is about 11 hours different from my home the the U.S. Now I knew there was a time change but I didn’t think it

Take a Stab at It

Here are a couple stocks on my watch list. Besides just looking at these 3 stocks, you could probably take a close look at many companies in the same market. Yamana Gold (AUY) Why not? All I hear is that there is a strict correlation between the dollar and gold, so if the dollar stays weak, then [...]

Where we Going
2008-03-09 21:59:36
It is no mystery that we are in an interesting market right now, which is somewhat more unpredictable. The answer to much of this is that we will be better off in the long run, or we are still in a upward trend long term, and perhaps there is some truth through that. The problem [...]
