Get Well motel 2008-04-04 10:15:24 Taking my second dose of mms, chatting Alan on the coconut phone and looking at waterproof gear on ebay. It’s that time of year again to start preparing for Hurricane season. Surprisingly no-one really sells decent waterproof gear that I have seen on the Island. Capt Sharks has some but not a lot considering boats, rain and hurricanes. Anyone have any good recommends on waterproof gear or good hurricane survival tips please leave a comment. Going to get a couple more crank flashlights from wade the gringo when he arrives tomorrow. A coupe of people brought us Dot-it lights by Sylvania – big thanks for that I think they are a great addition to our hurricane kit. Paul said it looks like we will be in for a bit of a noisy time – I went out on the veranda to see what he was talking about and he pointed it the large Belikin tent in our neighbours yard. Meeting at Wet Willy's 2008-04-08 16:38:47 Went back to Get Well Motel yesterday afternoon. Stacy and Courtney came and picked me up – we made a short pit stop to visit Maya and Colette and got to see their new house. It looks even lovelier in person – big congratulations you both deserve it. While at Stacy’s, Courtney cooked up some good old fashioned comfort food – grilled ham and cheese with french fries and a home made cookie for dessert. After chatting on the veranda and taking in some fresh air, we watched some of Best in Show. After the movie was done, Jim drove Courtney and I home – Paul was on bike. Thankfully that did not last long it was not in my plan to be playing solitaire with my morning coffee. Working hard 2008-04-10 08:49:05 I noticed something interesting today - my energy level and body felt the strongest in the beginning while I was at the park taking pictures.It was kind of fitting watching the road work and the guys putting in posts for the bleachers. They were digging, pushing hard on the posts to sink them and checking to make sure they were level.I have been feeling like I need to do some of my own digging and leveling for a while now. Waiting for my right lung to heal has slowed me down and been a catalyst at the same time. I was not quite sure where to start so I made arrangements to get help from Stacy to do some work and restructure from the inside out.I am walking into this with no expectations in regards to how it will unfold other than a change for the better. I came in the door and for some reason got to doing really mundane things like sweeping and accidentally breaking a light bulb then trying to fix my clock radio cd player to no avail - came to the conclusion that the cd player part is burnt toast.It was as if at that moment in time I needed to temporarily let go of all that had transpired so that I could allow it to process and puttering was the answer. One more day 2008-04-21 21:03:07 Sitting on Mirador hotel lobby right now in Corozal.Went shopping with Michele this morning - wanted to get a few things so we went to wal-mart. It tool me no more than 5 minutes to get mall head, but it was worth it got some new swim fins and a mask and snorkel set.Wen we got to Chetumal had trouble reaching our usual transfer service, so the guy at the information booth gave me Ravy's card and helped me call him ( I was having phone card issues but he got it to work)Ravy said he would be there in 1/2h which would have likely got us back in time, unfortunately he hit some traffic and was a bit delayed which meant we missed our flight and get one more day of vacation yay.He was a great driver and remembered us from before when he used to work for the company I was trying to reach in first

for the Latin American Bloggers meeting, we received a wonderful and much needed donation. Michele and Rob Kinnon in Playa Del Carmen, Executive Brokers for Bric International, locally handling sales and marketing for Turneffe Estates Belize donated Austin, a Backyardigans piñata and lots of Mexican candy to fill it. There's no place like home 2008-04-23 09:28:52 Our hotel was nice it had wide hallways - room was decent - comfortable bed - they scored points on giving us 4 pillows instead of 2 - shower could use some new grout work - view made up for it - tv had way more channels than we get here and our cable is pretty good compared to what we had in Canada.I could not help waking up at 5:30 am - so glad we had a room on the water, sunrise to the left and the moon was still out. It was nice watching a small part of waterfront Corozal slowly wake up. Saw lots of people walking for their morning exercise (some faster than others). It was not long before the fisherman came with coolers and started selling - one had a big jack but I did not get a pic of it.After a while I saw 2 guys on a bench drinking coffee, so I got dressed and went off in search.
Playa Lounge - Grand Opening 2008-04-22 23:14:11 Well, tacoblog aficionados, we have a little something different today. actually, a LOT something different. Last night, Playa Lounge had a soft grand opening. For those that don't know, a soft opening is when there isnt a lot of press, just a little quiet "we are open" sorta opening. But, this is San Pedro, and we are really good at "go big or go home"....last nights soft opening was no different. Playa Lounge is located across from the Tacklebox and Caye Caulker Water Taxi, in the former Cannibals space. Not that you could tell...it looks NOTHING like it used to. Temporary frustration 2008-04-24 17:45:09 This morning I was doing well, up at 5:30 and ready to get things done. A short while later after trying to log in unsuccessfully to internet banking, being shut out, my knickers were in a knot ha ha.Note to self do not try these things without coffee first. Show some Love 2008-04-26 01:10:58 I decided I was just not up for doing my usual laundry routine (bucket style) and decided to splurge and have it done across the road at Nellie’s - sheets and towels for wash and dry is $20 bzd and can pick up at 6pm – I hang dry most of my things to help them last longer so my personal stuff was only $10.80 bzd and will be ready at 2pm.Cindy just popped round and said more Cubans have landed. 8 men and 2 women (she thinks) They are at the police station and are hungry thirsty and could use some fresh clothing. Rum punch 2008-04-27 21:42:43 DCG just mixed a pitcher of rum punch and I got the fins and masks packed - we are getting ready for some quality beach time at Ramon's.Snorkeling was great at Ramon's - we saw all kinds of cool fish. There was a wall of grunts under the dock. When we got back to the beach Paul said Dick and Carole were on the boat and heading our way. So we got packed up and met them at a dock near BC's - Lydia and I got on the boat and Paul went to go get cleaned up for the party.Watching the kayak race from the water was full out sensory overload - we had so much fun.Got dropped of in town for the party.Stay tuned for more.
