Our Actions Reverberate Throughout Our World
1970-01-01 00:59:59
How do we determine right from wrong? Most of us by now just know what is right and wrong. One thing we can do is ask ourselves. What happens if I do that? We are human we are faced with temptations to do wrong every day of our lives. What do you think about when you are tempted? How do you decide what is the right or wrong thing? I would like to share with you a moment of temptation. One afternoon I went into work. I used the bathroom right away and washed my hands when completed. When ever I wash my hands my skin gets really dry and my hands feel very uncomfortable. I keep hand cream in the car but I couldn't go get it until my break which was another two hours. I sat at a desk. We all move around so we don't usually sit in a regular spot. I noticed right away that someone left their tube of hand cream there! It was the perfect size for my purse and just what I needed because I had been wanting to buy one for my purse. It would be so easy to pick this up and throw it in my purse and

Why Should I Care?
1970-01-01 00:59:59
So now we have acknowledged that our actions do indeed reverberate through the world. So why should you care? It's not about you, right? Wrong! We can't actually follow your reverberations though to the end. If we could we would learn that sometimes, if not often, they do come back to us in a boomerang effect. Not only that but the very act of the misdeed will often leave us with negative feelings which will often produce more misdeeds. Do you see how this can spiral out of control? Is it so difficult to understand why our world is in such a sorry state then?I still don't want to suggest you make any changes yet. Instead pay attention to yourself today. Think about the things you say and do and try and imagine how those actions might reverberate throughout our world. Think further to how you were effected because of your actions. Think too if you can how this could reverberate back to yourself without you even knowing it originally came from you.

Tell Someone
1970-01-01 00:59:59
We are never really taught much about our responsibility to the world. Oh sure we are taught about manners and being considerate toward other people etc. We are taught right and wrong, but when was the last time that anyone mentioned choosing to do what is right for the world? There is a lot more to right or wrong then just right or wrong. When deciding what is right or wrong we need to ask ourselves first and foremost what is my intention? Sometimes people do things that seem right for all the wrong reasons. If you are doing something for the wrong reason it's still wrong. Once you determine your intention you must then ask what happens if I do this? Run it down the line. Imagine the probabilities of the situation at hand. You will know if it is right or wrong and any amount of lying to yourself wont change the effects the deed will cast upon the world should you go through with it.We must always be mindful of the fact that the world extends much further than ourselves. ALL of our act

Stewardship
1970-01-01 00:59:59
No, this is not about the Bible, nor is about any organized religion. Though it could be considered somewhat spiritual. However, what this is really about is our own personal responsibility to the world we occupy! What's more though is that it's not only about personal responsibility but its about taking pride in ourselves and our world and all who occupy it. It's being a good steward to our world and all that surround us. Nothing could be more important than this!

The Path of Least Resistance
1970-01-01 00:59:59
After leaving a comment on Mark's sitetoday it left me thinking about how we humans always seem to opt for the negative. I had to ask myself, well why do we do this? Then it struck me, the answer was quite simple really. The negative is the path of least resistance! It's much easier for us to opt for the negative. Why is that? Well for some reason anything and I do mean ANYTHING in life worth having was designed so that we would have to work for it. If we do manage to find a way to get something before the work we usually mess it up anyway. A clear example would be people who win large sums of cash in the lottery. The majority of those people blow that money and often feel more unhappy than they had before the windfall. This is something to think about when you find yourself opting for the negative in whatever situation you happen to be in. Pay attention to this. Recognizing this is all a part of changing your negative reverberations to positive ones. Watch your own behaviors and s

Turning Shame Around
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Continuing on from our discussion about Shame I want to point out a few things. The very first thing being that you are human. Humans are tempted to do wrong in so many ways. Sometimes we falter. Some falter more than others, but it's not that we are bad people. It's that we were tempted to do the wrong thing and did. Perhaps we didn't think it through. Perhaps we were totally selfish and thought we could get away with it. Here's the thing. It doesn't really matter. All that matters is understanding that you are human and humans make mistakes. We were given the gift of free choice and with free choice comes responsibility yes, but also comes mistakes. We all fail sometimes. We all give in to some temptation. We are human. Look yourself in the mirror and see the human staring back at you. Vow to be a better person in the future. Vow to learn from your mistakes. Look at that shameful deed and realize it for what it really is. You are not dirty or bad you are merely human Now wash you

See the Rainbow
1970-01-01 00:59:59
You drive up to 777 Happy Street. You pull your beautiful new car up into your four car garage and park it next to your other three lovely new cars. You walk in the door and are greeted by your gorgeous spouse. Your very beautiful and well behaved children greet you too before running off to their rooms to do their homework. You are handed your favorite refreshment as you sit comfortably in front of your projection TV watching a great movie while your spouse prepares dinner. All is perfect in your world and you are completely happy.... NOT!Do you ever wonder why those who seem to have it all sometimes seem the most unhappy? Why often when people hit it big they fall to the very depths of the earth. Why all too often people who hit it big kill themselves? Perplexing isn't it. I mean after all haven't they finally gotten everything they ever wanted and dreamed of?Yes they have! That is why they have lost all hope. They have received everything they could ever possibly want and their

Better Life Choices
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Once a person commits to the change, they've washed out their souls and have changed the way they allow themselves to think about their fellow mankind. There are glorious side effects aside from the new self worth and happiness. These side effects if you will, are one: You will want to keep your soul clean. After all, you went to a lot of trouble to get all the dirty stinky slime off and now you intend to keep it clean. And two: You will find it easier to make better decisions about yourself and your life. You wont find yourself as easily drawn to bad relationships. You will be better able to recognize what is good for you! Making the right decisions will get easier for you. You wont be making excuses for other's behavior in the way that you used to. Which is quite ironic considering our new way of thinking about the world. Things are more clear, less convoluted with negative emotions. One of the biggest reasons for this is that you wont have those "I deserve nothing better" thought

Preparation Before the Feast
1970-01-01 00:59:59
The reason I am stressing the importance of going inside oneself and digging out the shame is that that shame that we bury within us holds us back. It keeps us from growing and most important of all it makes us feel as if we don't deserve a happier life. We may not notice that we are operating on this assumption but it's what we do. We punish ourselves and most of us never even realize that we do.Once you relinquish the shame that lives within you. You will see yourself in a whole new light. You will start making changes for a better tomorrow. You will also be able to give more good to the world and spread more positive reverberations. It can be uncomfortable at first acknowledging your shame. Like anything you often have to go through the dark to get to the light. I can assure you the uncomfortable feelings will pass and suddenly you will find they have been replaced with something wonderful, freedom from your shame and even more important, happiness and new sense of your own self wo

You'll Feel Better
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Another reason to think about changing some of your behavior is because by giving good to the world you will feel better. You'll feel better about yourself, your life, who you are and what you stand for. Doing good makes us feel better especially when the good we are doing makes a difference. We've already went over just how much of a difference it makes once you change the amount of negative reverberations that you send out into the world. Now no one is perfect. We are humans. No matter how we try we'll still mess up from time to time. We'll still on occasion send out a negative reverberation. However, once we are committed to the change it will be a whole lot less and that my friend will make a huge difference in our world! When you do something nice for someone don't you both usually walk away smiling? It's like taking a happy pill. If you could take a happy pill with no ill effects you would right? Well you can! Just do something nice for someone. The minute you do something n

What is Your Potential?
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Are you fulfilling your potential? Do you even begin to understand your potential? Or are you merely plugging along? What are you giving to the world? What is your production? This doesn't mean you have to do something big. Please understand your potential could be as simple as housecleaning. We all have hidden talents. They are all valuable and integral to the human existence. What's yours and are you utilizing it? I know mine and yet I have allowed life to constantly distract me from it. I'm a single mother. I struggle financially. I have basically spent my whole life being distracted and not living up to my potential mostly in the name of earning a living. Even very recently I became distracted thinking of another avenue in which I might be able to earn a higher income because ultimately struggling is tiresome and I want to offer my children as much as I can. Had I followed through on this distraction that would have meant life would take more time from my true potential and cal

Be the Change Today!
1970-01-01 00:59:59
"Be the change you want to see in the world" A quote by Mahatma Gandhi that I'm sure you are all familiar with and as I'm sure you've recognized is the very foundation for this blog!No quote ever struck me so strongly as this quote did! No one could have said it better. If you look to your own life this little quote will hold true for all aspects in your life. If you don't like your relationships, change you. If you don't like your children's behavior, change you! You cannot walk around waiting for the negative to go away. It wont go! You can't walk through life waiting for everyone else to change and make things better. They wont! No, you have to be the change. The moment you change, everything else surrounding it changes. You have to take control of your life and your happiness. If you leave it in the hands of anyone or everyone else you are doomed to failure, you are setting yourself up for unhappiness. Once you are the change in your own life you will find it easy to b

Being Grateful
1970-01-01 00:59:59
One of the things I taught my children to do from a very early age was to name three things that they were grateful for every night at the end of their prayers. I wanted them to be able to recognize the good in their lives and to take a moment to be grateful for it.It is my hope that they will take those teachings into adulthood and always remember to take the time and think about what they have to be grateful for. This is a good habit for everyone to consider. It's essential to happiness building. You may be surprised at how much there is to be grateful for! I suggest to you that you write a list of all of the good things in your life and start there. Then every day name three things that you are grateful for that day. You can even keep a grateful journal and write down what you are grateful for that day. Imagine what that journal will look like at the end of a week, a month, a year! Stopping to acknowledge the good in your life ups your happiness quota and in turn it will help send

Martin Luther King's Dream a Nightmare?
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Martin Luther King Day is an important day to a great deal of people. It represents something. What does it represent to you? Martin Luther King had a dream. Has it been fulfilled? It seems to me that there is a great divide between all races. We seem to dislike those who are different from us. What can you do personally to make a difference? Forgive. Yes, forgive! Forgive others for being different than you! Not that they don't have that right to be different, but you need to forgive them for it in your own heart. So that you can let it go and accept them. There needs to be forgiveness! However, this may be more difficult than it sounds. It will take commitment and determination on your part. Imagine a world where we didn't look at each other with hate and disgust just because we looked a little different or had different beliefs?!If it weren't for differences the world would be bland. We wouldn't have all of the wonderful inventions and ideas. We all color our world! Every single

When the Bad Comes Calling
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Sometimes bad things happen. Sometimes we must feel pain. Sometimes we will feel angry and hurt. Negative stuff happens. It's a fact of life. So when I say happiness is a choice it doesn't mean you will never be sad when you choose happiness. When bad things happen you have to feel the pain. You have to move through it like a train through a tunnel. It's the only way out of it. You can't hide from it and you can't dwell in it. You have to move through the pain and then happiness will return, slowly but surely. When bad things happen you simply must persevere, get through each day one day at a time, crawl if you must, but move through the pain! There is no avoiding pain. To try and do so will cause you more grief in the end. You must feel it. You must immerse yourself in it. You must go through all of the stages of grief before you can move out of it. When this happens to you. You must allow yourself to grieve. Cry. It's a part of healing. Though it may not feel like it and althou

Take the Ball and Run
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Each of us are special and important to the world. Each of us has something special to offer the world. More often than not we get distracted. We lose sight of who we really are. We don't become what we were meant to be or do what we were meant to do. For years I tried to find a place to call my own. A place where I could fit in and make money. Nothing ever worked! Ever! Finally I realized I'm making my quest about money. When in fact it should be about what I have to offer the world. Yes I need to earn a living but I need to feed my spirit too! Finally I decided to find my place in the world outside of earning a living. In other words pursue my passion while still working my regular job. So that is what I'm doing and I can't tell you the difference it has made in my life and how I feel and the changes that have happened within me because of it.For years I hated who I was because I didn't fit what I felt was the "norm" I was so different and I hated that and I hated me! Now, I've

Celebrity Worship/Americans Having it too Easy
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Father of Four left an comment on my last post that I thought I would like to respond to here in a post rather than in the comments section. Father of Four wrote that the problem with America stems from Celebrity worship and that Americans have it too easy. He wrote a very detailed comment so if you didn't read it you will probably want to read it before you continue. You can read it HERE Well of course what Father of Four writes is true. We do honor people for their beauty. However, I feel strongly that if we have our own individual sense of self worth we wont be effected by this. Now granted we can't go around and hand people self worth, but we can give them the tools needed to achieve this. There lies the hope! As far as Americans having it too easy. That all depends on how you look at it. I see it a bit differently. I think because Americans have it so much easier Americans have a lot more free time which they could use to strengthen families and do other great things like sprea

The Long Climb up from the Gutter of Hoplessness
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I wanted to share a little more about myself. As I believe I mentioned in an earlier post I grew up in dire circumstances. This bad childhood led me to an even more troublesome adulthood. I made many very bad choices and ended up with even bigger troubles every time I turned around. For many years I felt sorry for myself. Life wasn't fair and I didn't understand why life was picking on me. My friends didn't have the misery that I had nor the pain. They had people that loved them. Why couldn't I? Eventually my outlook changed. Somewhere in my early 30's I began to understand that all of the things that had happened to me in my adult years were a direct result of my own choices. I also realized that I actually had a choice that I didn't have to just drift a long. However, knowing this didn't bring about change for several more years. During this time though I watched an episode on Oprah and learned about visualization. It was a show about visualizing yourself as a child and going

Happy New Year!

Before you make your New Year's resolutions I'd like to ask you to please include becoming a part of the change as one of your resolutions! Commit to making the necessary changes starting today! Together we really can make this a better world for all of us one person at a time! Vow to stop sending negative reverberations into the world! Vow to send more positive reverberations. Commit random acts of kindness whenever you can. Look at yourself honestly and what lives inside of you. Let go of your shame. Forgive yourself, forgive others. Let go of your pain and anger. Be happy and share your happiness! My wish is that you will all be successful in this endeavor and that 2007 will be a glorious year of change, peace and happiness for all of you and for our world! Happy New Year!

It's All About Attitude!
1970-01-01 00:59:59
A reader, Progress who had posted a cute little article on attitude in her blog reminded me of the importance of attitude. Basically committing to the change is in fact giving one's self an attitude adjustment and that is what precisely I have done to myself over the years and continue to do today. Attitude adjustments aren't nearly as difficult as they may sound. They are merely an adjustment to the way we think. Which has been one of the things we have discussed all along. If we honestly look at our lives and our hardships onward into our adult years we can see where we needed attitude adjustments along the way. Most likely you have given yourself a few. It's a must to obtain any form of growth. Many of the adjustments you gave yourself probably had to do with work, school, friendships, intimate relationships and family relationships or other things that were important to you. So you see the idea of Attitude adjustment isn't at all foreign to you. A good attitude will lead you to

Distractions and Starving Souls
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Driving home from work tonight I stopped at a stop sign. The stop sign was located just before an overpass and in front of a y in the road. At the stop sign you can see clear down to the state highway below. Tonight as I stopped at that stop sign something captured my attention. It was a big mac truck all lit up from the front to the back. It looked so big and beautiful and strong in all of it's speeding glory. Paying such close attention to the truck I didn't notice a car coming around the bend at very high speed toward me and I started to pull out into the lane, catching myself just in the nick of time. This made me think about how easily we can be distracted and busy our minds thinking about things that we have no business thinking about. I mean sure the truck is a beautiful sight but that wasn't the time to be focusing on it. Which is kind of like the way people focus on silly things like winning the lotto or getting rich quick. Well, let me point out that first of all the odds

Putting What You Know into Motion
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Quite some time ago I asked you to pay attention to the negative reverberations you are sending out into the world. I trust that you have been doing that? I wonder if you were surprised at how many you were sending? I know that I was when I first started to notice. Which was shocking because I've always been more nice than mean. However, one thing I learned was that there were times when I'd send them without trying to be mean but by taking out my frustration on the wrong individual and simply by venting to the wrong person. Also my driving as I'd mentioned was the place where I'd get the most angry. Now I'm a much calmer driver. I don't say I never slip up because I do from time to time. What I have learned is that there are times when I am more susceptible to messing up. If I am stressed, or upset, or hurt, or angry at someone I will find it much more difficult to keep the negative reverberations in check. However, I really do put in an effort and I must admit I am proud of how

Talk is Cheap
1970-01-01 00:59:59
It's easy to stand around and point out what's wrong with the world. Why we are all experts at that! Aren't we? It's easy to cry about all of the injustice and all of the bad in the world. However, I must ask how many of you are willing to do anything about it? When push comes to shove do you really care?Talk is cheap! Talk is so cheap! It's so cheap that most of us can do it! "Doing." Now that takes some guts and some ambition. Action. That is what makes the difference in the world. What are you doing to improve your world? What actions have you taken to make a difference? You can make a difference! You can change the world! No matter who you are or where you are from you have what it takes inside of you. You just need to decide to do it! It doesn't matter even if you have done bad things. Even if you've spent your life making bad choices. It's not too late to fulfill your true potential. You are special! You may have allowed your humanness to get in the way of fulfilling your

Meeting Challenges
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I will never pretend to understand or know the meaning of life but there are a few things that experience has taught me about life. One of those things is that whatever the purpose of life is we are given lessons daily. Another thing of importance I've learned is that we are ALL challenged in one form or another. Some of my challenges were my bad childhood, my ADD, and my bouts of depression just to name a few. We all have our own challenges. They are not there to set us back. I am convinced they are there as a part of our life lessons. The more we grow, the more we complete our challenges successfully the more fulfilled our lives become. One of the big challenges in life is the meshing of people. We are all so different. We all think so differently. If we were to once and for all meet this challenge and mesh our human existences there would be world peace as I've mentioned in a previous post. Another lesson I have learned in life is that the bigger the challenge the bigger the payoff

Sex Secrets
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I've had this post sitting in my draft files since the end of December. I didn't post it at the time because I thought I should give you all a break from my talk about shame. Last night however, I picked up a copy of O, Oprah's magazine and in it Oprah talks about her own shame and how the healing could begin once she let it out. Of course for her it was not that she chose to let it out. Someone else did that for her which was unfair. However, it might have been the worst and the best thing that ever happened to her. I've talked to you all many times about shame. Shame is one of the most crucial things to deal with. You need to deal with this shame in order to heal. After reading Oprah's moving article (and I suggest you all read it if you can!) I knew I had to go back and pull this post out of its resting zone and post it once and for all. So without further adieu I present to you, Sex Secrets Sex secrets are probably the most popular and the most deadly of all secrets. We humans
