Review: Sukob (Filipino for "Curse"/"Wedding Curse")
1970-01-01 00:59:59
The story revolves around the superstition that a couple should not get married in the year as when a member of the family dies or gets married also at the same year. Here, Sandy (Kris Aquino) and Phil (Wendell Ramos) are scheduled to get married. While preparing, Kris learned what happened to her childhood friend Helen…Helen got married a short time after her father died. A few weeks after the wedding, Helen's husband dies in a plane crash. As she goes to the crash site, she dies in a bus accident. A few weeks later, Helen's mother suddenly disappears inside her house as all their bodies have never been recovered.Helen really has nothing to do with both Kris nor Claudine it just introduces viewers to the superstition… Moving on, Sandy/Kris continues her wedding which translates into a series of unfortunate events… which are similar as to the stories about Helen... to stop this, Sandy searches for answers leading her to discover old family secrets which in the end would be the

Review: My Super Ex-Girlfriend
1970-01-01 00:59:59
...not many people really liked the movie "My Super Ex-Girlfriend "... just try browsing the major movie review sites out there.. but hey!!! this blog/site's not one of them... yada yada.. ya i really havent blown off any movie yet from my posts but hey.. i really wouldnt waste my 1 and a half hours sitting on any movie so if i happened to watch it... i must feel good about the movie in the first place before i watch and review it... on to the movie.. well seriously, i think the timing of this movie is just right for me.. you know after watching a lot of superhero flicks - you know action studded, blasting, gun-firing, red tights, utility belts, mutation, ... AAAARRGGGHHH... ...the comedic spin to it might just be the right formula... and it worked... as the audience, you come in the theatre knowing its a comedy and for that you have different expectations - and you may not admit it but such expectations are new... heck when was the last time you watched a "real" superhero flick which

a three-peat? (Pirates of the Carribean 2: Dead Man's Chest)
1970-01-01 00:59:59
arrrrrrr.. ...supporters of captain jack gather round... i've recently seen the 2nd installment of Captain Jack's movie, the "Pirates of the Carribean : Dead Man 's Chest "...actually i've waited for this more than "Superman Returns".. well i've been a fan of Mr. Willy Wonka since 21 jump st. and Ms. Keira Knightley (since she looked a lot like Natalie Portman in my mind...) since the 1st Pirates and of course who can forget Mr. Legolas ...on to the review...well in the immortal words of a pirate... "arrrrr.. its darn good!!" i wasnt disappointed with how the movie turned out... even though part 2 seems like an introduction only to the part 3 of the series.. heck.. everybody loved the LOTR, Matrix and StarWars saga anyways...as usual it was superb acting from Mr. Depp... his patented "savvy" and funny lines bring life to his character... Mr. Bloom, well on the otherhand is in his usual Legolas self: the leading man type of role or "superhero" role if you will.. in my country.. its mo

Review: The Devil Wears Prada
1970-01-01 00:59:59
The story revolves around the life of Andrea Sachs portrayed by the beautiful Anne Hathaway, a small-town girl fresh out of college, landing the job referred to as "a million girls would die for."She's hired as a 2nd assistant to Miranda Priestly, portrayed perfectly by Meryl Streep, the well-known editor of Runway magazine. As an assistant, Anne/Andrea is made to do impossible tasks such as providing the last unpublished Harry Potter book, Starbucks coffee, even plane tickets on a very stormy day.She puts up with all this just to prove that she can and one day she'll benefit from it.. she slowly reaps her prize however at the expense of her personal life…showing that the job that "a million girls would die" really is killing her. She therefore decides if all such success is worth it… The movie's very entertaining if I may say.Although it reminds me of a cross between a recent film I watched, Click! (success over family plot) and Anne Hathaway's original Princess Diarie

Upcoming: Snakes on a Plane
1970-01-01 00:59:59
500 snakes & 30,000 feet in the air... whoa!!...Samuel L. Jackson predicted in this year's MTV Movie Awards that his upcoming movie "Snakes on a Plane " will win next year's Movie of the Year award... by the looks of it.. with all the hype and the attention (especially on the web).. it surely is very promising.....the movie's all about a man witnessing a mob murder. he then is scheduled to fly from Hawaii to LA to testify to the crime.. Samuel L. Jackson as FBI Agent Neville Flynn serves as his escort... and the mob boss, knowing this, puts about 500 snakes on the same flight... total mayhem......well the concept and the story is new and fresh which i think will be its edge over this year's movies prompting Jackson to be confident. I like the guy.. heck he's the epitome of "cool" in the US......the movie won't be opening until the 23rd of August here.. so i guess i have to wait for a week.. however, it opens on the 18th on the lucky parts of the globe... ..and due to Samuel L. Review: Just My Luck
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I'm not really a big Lindsay Lohan fan but i should i kinda liked the movie. I guess it's the theme or plot that makes any john doe, or juan dela cruz, for that matter would relate to.Anybody needs luck - or its equivalent for those who do not believe in "luck" per se. Hmm... karma? or destiny? Or blessing? Whatever ["Just My Karma" or "Just My Blessing" - its your choice :)]...that is why, its so appealing, its something everybody can relate to... we've all had broken umbrellas on a rainy day, got splattered by a speeding vehicle, almost got electrocuted or got wet paint in our clothes. As far as acting goes, well as much as you hate Ms. Lohan, acting is one thing she is known for. Her partner, Chris Pine was also believable in his role as the unlucky band manager. When you're an average person, you'd easily relate to him. Just like Ms. Lohan's friends (Bree Turner and Samaire Armstrong) who dont really get enough luck as Lohan's character but still they stick around.. they're

Review: Nacho Libre
1970-01-01 00:59:59
at long last.. i got to see Nacho Libre ...well i wasn't disappointed to tell you the truth.. if you loved School of Rock.. you'll surely love Nacho...once again Jack Black works with kids, this time as a wrestler-wannabe friar... there are no big stars here (except Black of course) which i think helps the movie since you get to focus more on the acting and the "other" stuff... like its cinematography...if you love lomography or photography for that matter.. you'll love the movie's cinematography... its so crisp and every scene reminds you of a beautiful photograph you've seen somewhere... ...Jack Black is in his usual great acting self even belting some tunes reminiscent of School of Rock... even his partner Hector Jimenez (Esqueleto) - the thin guy running away from the bees, was very funny as well... watch out for him to hit more movies soon... and of course the lovely Ana De La Reguera (Sister Encarnacion)... her acting seems effortless and so true... her role as a nun was perf

Upcoming: Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny
1970-01-01 00:59:59
whoa!!i've not yet finished absorbing Jack's Nacho Libre and here comes another Jack Black flick... seems like Jack likes music too much (School of Rock) that he takes another shot at it......directed by Liam Lynch, the story is about Jack and his co-star in the film Kyle Gass forming a band called Tenacious D which the world hasn't yet seen before. As Yahoo Movies put it, the film chronicles the actors' rise to power...another great thing about it, it stars one of my fave actors of all time, Tim Robbins.. this should be a fun movie to watch...:)* photo from Yahoo! Review: Click
1970-01-01 00:59:59
...finally.. finally...i got to watch Click ! last week.. and oh.. first things first..well.. i wasn't able to post anything the last few days due to some pc concerns, but all is well now.. on to the movie......i liked it.. like my previous post, i got to see one of my fave actresses.. Kate Beckinsale.. and of course Adam Sandler as well.... i was glued waiting for Rob Schneider to appear/do a cameo.. and alas... the sheik has arrived!! Prince habababa! (or was it habahara?..lol)..the movie was hilarious... Adam was effective as a busy husband and father... and Ms. Beckinsale played her supportive wife role quite well.. i say quite since, apart from the "age transitions" throughout the movie, her acting prowess wasn't really on full display (prowess as in Underworld-type prowess..) here...but i guess it wasn't necessary, in fact it was just right.. she'd smile and its already a great scene anyways...Christopher walken was also on board and constantly bugging Mr. Sandler, he's effec
