BroomeOhio State beat Georgetown 67-60 to advance to the championship game. I liked both teams and love the play of Greg Oden so no matter which way the game went, I was happy. The Important Part about what Ohio State has to establish today is a game plan for Monday.Florida beat UCLA 76-66 to advance to their next opponent Ohio State for the championship crown. In the first few minutes the game was close, but the Gators really had total control in the 2nd half. One thing that hurt UCLA was foul trouble for Arron Afflalo in the first half. Florida is where they were last year and I don't think they will get cocky, but their coach will have to keep them under tight restraints if he feels the need to.

Lots of people have opinions not here's what I think. Imus had no right act the way he did and should be fired because racial slurs on the radio shouldn't be tolerated. Also, I was watching Around The Horn on ESPN today and they pointed out that the people who hired him at MSNBC and CBS should be taken note of and I really agree with that. The hopeful end of this story will be a peaceful one if he is fired or not.

I like what his father said about Greg going to the draft. "Why not, as long as he finishes school in the offseason?" I agree Oden should finish school if he's playing ball in school or in the pros. Oden is a no doubt lottery pick who will come in and supply maybe a double-double as he progresses.

... 2007-04-17 23:16:00 JOEY CRAWFORD NBA
REFEREE SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY!The NBA suspended Joey Crawford for improper conduct towards Tim Duncan on last Sunday's game against the Mavericks. I think the NBA is sending a statement that even though you may be a respected referee, the NBA is a top tear league and you have to abide by your rules."Joey Crawford's handling of this situation failed to meet the standards of professionalism and game management we expect of NBA referees," said Commissioner David Stern. "Especially in light of similar prior acts by this official, a significant suspension is warranted. Although Joey is consistently rated as one of our top referees, he must be held accountable for his actions on the floor, and we will have further discussions with him following the season to be sure he understands his responsibilities."I think Joey was out of line with the second technical because most referees should look away from star players after their first technical and let them continue to play.

BEAT THE SPURS!The Nuggets pulled off an upset and beat the Spurs 95-89 and take a one game series lead. I like the early defensive attack from Denver. They came out and stopped the Spurs big three which allowed them to pull ahead. The Spurs should have done better and I expect them to come ready next game. The Answer and Melo had a combined 61 points which was a part of their success. I loved the defense from Marcus Camby. In one possession he had two blocks. The Sours have to focus on getting Tim Duncan going early and find a way around the defense of Marcus Camby. Read more:Photo

SUNS BEAT LAKERS
!The Suns came back and beat the Lakers 95-87 to take a 1-0 series lead. I like the Suns' late game defense. It helped their offense by getting and stopping KB24. And bench play was terrific for the Suns: Barbosa finished with 26 (tied a career playoff high he set against the Lakers in last year's playoffs). The Lakers came out with a great plan, the whole team played solid ball, but then the team fell off and it was Kobe by himself and he lost his spark in the second half.Lamar Odom had a huge game with 17 points and 16 boards. I love that Odom came out strong but he has to continue that for 48 minutes. Luke Walton did it all, also with 10 points 6 boards and assists. I expect an all around game from Luke. Once he gets confidence in his shot like he had in their series last year the Lakers have a much better chance. The Suns have to keep their heads up in game 2. If the Suns came out strong offensively and Kobe is not hot, I like the Suns to Read more:Photo

ROCKETS BEAT THE JAZZ! The Houston Rockets beat the Utah Jazz 84-75 to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Houston can't just rely on jump shots for them to win, and the Jazz will come up with a plan to defend those shots well. Utah came back after a 6-0 start and looked good in their attack. Utah missed a few easy shots which led to fast break points for the Rockets.Tracy McGrady had just one point in the first half, but caught fire in the second with 16 in the third quarter and 23 points overall. Yao Ming got the ball early and finished with 28 points and 13 boards. Yao is a big part of the game plan for the Rockets to run the offense through him and get open shots for other players, or easy dunks for Yao.Deron Williams did it all in this game with 15 points, 9 boards and 9 dimes. Williams had a huge game and if it continues like that in this series the Rockets will have to make defensive adjustments to stop his attack. Read more:Photo

by: D. LippittPISTONS BEAT THE MAGIC!The Detroit Pistons beat the Magic 100-92 to take a 1-0 lead in the series. I think the Magic should be proud even with a loss. They proved they could stay close, but the game just slipped away in the final seconds.Jameer Nelson showed great leadership and skills to get his team close near the end. He finished with 10 points but also did a lot of things that won't show up in the box score. Hedo Turkoglu hit a big jumper near the end of the game and showed that he can score the ball with 17 points.Chauncey Billups, a great game with 22 points and 11 dimes. I expect the assist numbers for Chauncey to be high in this series because Richard Hamilton and the whole team are hitting shots.

IN GAME 1!The New Jersey Nets beat the Raptors in game 1 of their first round series 96-91. The Nets have to get Carter going early to be more successful early. Richard Jefferson had a fantastic game and I see he is ready to play big time in the new season. The Raptors had up and downs but played decently. Bosh didn't get in rhythm which was bad, and the jump shots didn't fall in the early going. I think they learned valuable lessons from this game, and will win game 2 on Tuesday on NBA TV.WATCH MORE OF TODAY'S COVERAGE AND COME BACK HERE FOR RECAPS! Read more:Photo

ROCKETS WIN GAME 2 98-90!The Houston Rockets pulled off a 98-90 victory over the Jazz and now lead the series 2-0. The Rockets came out behind but caught up in the second half. Houston should limit their three point shooting because a 4-24 just won't cut it when they go on the road.Utah had Carlos Boozer doing it all but Okur was a non factor. He had only 4 points while Boozer had 41 which is a heavy load for Boozer. If you were watching the halftime show you would have heard Charles talk about the need for diversification in Okurs game. I agree with that and think the coaching staff of the Jazz could work wiht him on it.The Pistons beat the Magic 98-90 to also take a 2-0 series lead. I am not surprised by the outcome of this game. I think the Magic will get lucky and steal a game back in Orlando. Detroit has to play with edge on the road so they can sweep the Magic.

I think the Warriors had confidence which helped them come in and take control. Dallas will regroup and expect them to be at top form in game 2.Baron Davis had a huge game with 33 points and 14 boards. Hold on, did you hear what the point guard for the Warriors did? 14 rebounds which is wonderful and I hope he can keep it up. I was surprised that the Warriors played eight guys and beat the best team in the NBA.To win Dallas needs to play their game and not change it to play with someone else.

, JAZZ BEAT ROCKETS!The Spurs beat the Denver Nuggets to take a 2-1 series lead. The Nuggets were close, but Allen Iverson needed a better game to get them a win. The Spurs should be happy to get a game in Denver but now they want to get two.Tim Duncan had 20 points and 13 boards. Duncan played a terrific game. His seven offensive boards helped the Spurs get second chance points. If you are George Karl you have to stop that in game 4. Michael Finley played well and finished with 16 points and 5 boards. Finley has shown he can hit big shots and that is great for the Spurs. The Utah Jazz beat the Houston Rockets 98-85 to tie the series 2-2. Both teams play well at home so if that continues the Rockets have the advantage. Utah has come around and now this is like starting the series all over again. I like Houston to win game 5 but Utah to overcome that and win the series. Utah has a good team that plays on both ends of the floor. Deron Williams had

KasterCAVS BEAT THE WIZARDS!The Cleveland Cavs beat the Washington Wizards 98-92 to take a 3-0 series lead. The key to winning was a few important blocks from the Cavs and getting everyone involved offensively. The Wizards didn't have enough offensive firepower to get them over the hump. This series is over to me and the Cavs should sweep them.LeBron James had 30 points and 9 assists. He was doubled late and his team made up for it by hitting wide open shots. Zydrunas Ilgauskas helped with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Z has to hit the mid range jumper like he did tonight so LeBron can pick and pop with him or pass it him out of a double team.

The Magic really fought and I respect their game and know they will be at the top in years to come. I thought Detroit would come out stronger than they did, but they still won. Darko showed that he can play well in crunch time and I think he is worth keeping on the Magic for next season.Chauncey Billups had 25 points and 6 assists. Billups turned it on late and his offense kept the Pistons close early and readied them to go ahead late. Chris Webber had a solid game with 11 points and 10 boards. That's all the Pistons needs from Webber. He will be an x-factor for them later on. Read more:Photo

3 BIG GAMES!Last night three games had surprise endings. The Bulls beat the Heat again 104-96 to take a 3-0 series lead. The Bulls played well for a young team under that pressure. If you are the Heat you have to play with real passion to crawl all the way back. Ben Gordon led the Bulls attack with 27 points and 5 boards. He hit most of his free throws down the stretch which helped them take down the Heat. The Nets beat down the Raptors 102-89. The Nets pulled away because VC was hitting almost every shot he took. The Raptors couldn't find their offense and the defense could have been better. Vince Carter had 37 points and 5 assists. Carter has to play like that on the road if the Nets want to win this series. While Carter scored Jason Kidd filled the stat sheet. He had 16 points, 19 assists and 16 rebounds. The stats speak for themselves. Kidd played a fantastic game and I hope he can keep it up.The Golden State Warriors played on their home floor and beat

The reason Dallas pulled away was they got angry and Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson got ejected. Even though they lost game two the Warriors should be confident about game three at home. The Cavs beat the Wizards 109-102 to take a 2-0 series lead. The Wizards have to play great to win at home. The Wizards are so limited offensively they don't have a chance.

by: Bob OwenSPURS EVEN UP SERIES WITH NUGGETS!The Spurs beat the Nuggets 97-88 to tie their series at one each. The key for the Spurs was the big three--Duncan, Parker and Ginobili--playing very well. The Nuggets got the lead down near the end of the game but it wasn't enough; even so, I loved their effort.Tim Duncan finished with 22 points and 7 boards. He has to establish an early rhythm in Denver so he can set the tone for the rest of the Spurs. Tony Parker also added 20 points and 6 dimes. Parker needs to work the ball inside and out, so the Spurs can have a diversified offensive attack in game three.

The Bulls made shots from the outside through unselfish offensive play. I expect the Heat to come out with a vengeance in game 3 so the Bulls will have to play their best.Luol Deng had another huge game with 26 points and 6 dimes. If you keep Deng under 20 points the Heat have a much better chance to win. Kirk Hinrich got 14 points and dished out 8 dimes. Hinrich has to keep up his terrific penetration for the Bulls to be successful in Miami. The Suns blowout the Lakers 126-98 to also take a 2-0 series lead. The Suns just couldn't be stopped from scoring which got everyone confident. Kobe Bryant was too passive and that's why this game wasn't even close.

TIE SERIES WITH NETS!The Raptors tied their series with the Nets winning 89-83. Throwing the ball Bosh and working around him opened up the game for shooters like Anthony Parker. Jason Kidd had a great all around game and he is having a fantastic series.Anthony Parker finished with the most points for the Raptors with 26. His shooting is a big part of the Raptors winning or losing this series. Chris Bosh did it all with 25 points and 13 boards. Solid numbers for Bosh are what makes the entire team confident and consistent in games. The series heads for New Jersey for game 3. Toronto has to come out with a good start and stop any fast break opportunities for the Nets. The Nets should try to get both game at home because the Raptors will stay close at home. Read more:Photo

by: LM OteroMAVS BEAT THE WARRIORS!The Dallas Mavericks beat the Golden State Warriors 118-112 but are still down in the series 3-2. Dirk stepped up and was helped by the home crowd. If Dirk continues to be aggresive the Mavs still have a chance. Dallas just has to pretend they're at home on the road and they will play better. As I said Dirk had a huge game and finished with 30 points and 12 boards. Dirk took advantage of the glass and with the small ball lineup in it should be easy to keep it up. Jerry Stackhouse came off the bench with 15 points and 3 boards. Stack needs to get 20+ for Dallas to win game 6.The Nets lost to the Raptors 98-96 but lead the series 3-2. Nachbar had a chance to win the game with a three but missed the shot. The Nets needed to know Nachbar was not making shots and given the ball to someone who had been making them. If you're the Raptors you feel lucky the Nets lost and scared about possibly losing game 6.

3 MORE GAMES LAST NIGHT!Last night a few game 4&5's were played. First Cleveland did what they needed to do and swept the Wizards by winning game 4 97-90. The Wizards were ahead most of the game but the Cavs swooped in late and got what they wanted. LeBron James had a big game with 31 points, 11 boards and 7 assists. James did it all so his team could get some rest for round 2.The Rockets won game 5 of their series against the Jazz 96-92. The Rockets didn't lead much throughout the game either, but the Jazz didn't play hard enough in crunch time to win. Game 6 will be the best one of all because Houston didn't win any games in Utah in this series yet and they have to win to close out the series. This series will probably go 7 games because each team is very tough to beat at home. Tracy McGrady was great with 26 points and 16 assists. Keeping his entire team involved in the offense will give them more confidence as they move forward. The Spurs beat the Nugg

State Warriors beat the Dallas Mavericks again 103-99. The Warriors came on late and stole this game from the Mavs. Dallas has to be more alert come crunch time so the Warriors can't pull ahead. Dallas will win game 5, but it will be really interesting in game 6.Mickael Pietrus came off the bench with 16 points and 5 boards. Pietrus was a huge x-factor in this game and his production is key as the series moves forward. Baron Davis led the way with 33 points and 8 boards. Davis has been great in the playoffs and they need him to pull off this upset. The Nets beat the Raptors again 102-81 to take a 3-1 series lead. This series is over now. The Raptors got a good experience in the playoffs but now it's time for the summer. The Suns beat the Lakers 113-100. This series is over also. State Warriors made NBA history by beating the number 1 seeded Mavericks 111-86 to win the series. Golden State had to much offense for the Mavs to handle. Dirk was also very bad shooting the ball which helped the Warriors get confident and take control.Stephen Jackson was huge with 33 points and 5 boards. Jackson was great from the three point line and that's how he scored. To win in the next round against the Rockets or Jazz he will need to continue that. Baron Davis had 20 points and 10 boards. Davis did all of that on a bad hamstring. I am concerned about his health for round 2 because the Warriors can't win without him.

ELIMINATED!The Suns beat the Lakers 119-110 to win the series 4-1. They pulled ahead because of a couple alley oops from Nash to Marion. The Lakers didn't have near enough team chemistry to win. The Suns will face the Spurs (who eliminated the Nuggets) in the next round and I like the Suns in six or seven games.Amare Stoudemire had a huge game with 27 points and 16 boards. When he has a monster game like that it's a guaranteed win for the Suns. Steve Nash had an all around game with 17 points and 10 assists. Nash has to have big games for the Suns to beat the Spurs. I like the Cavs to win this series after watching them play the first two games. They have shown confidence and want to end this series as soon as possible.
