from: orlandoaces.comCOMMENT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT! Today I received a great comment from Alex Hill, who tried out for the Strong Dogs, a team that never made it, but now plays for the Orlando Aces in the ABA. He's a blogger too. Check him out at: www.alexhill.blogspot.com which lets you know all about his basketball hopes and dreams. Here is what he sent me: "Man, You are amazing. I just checked out your blog and you are on point to be so young man. You have a great future ahead of you. I noticed that I am in one of your pics too. You have pics from the Tampa Bay Strongdogs tryouts. On one of the pics you have a quote that says "A layup is just hanging on the rim for one Strong Dogs hopeful", I'm the guy closest to the camera with the dreds. I tried out with them, but decided to play with the Orlando Aces (orlandoaces.com) instead. Anyways check out the personal Blog I just started, we have the same name so it should be easy to remember. FALL SHORT TO PISTONS IN DOUBLE OT!The Minnesota Timberwolves fell short to the Detroit Pistons in a crazy game that ended 104-98 in double overtime. In the fourth quarter, if you haven't already heard, KG and Antonio McDyess got into a little rumble and were ejected. KG suprised me with that action. I know he was trying to protect Mark Madsen but he is a superstar and has to set a good example for young fans. Don't be surprised if you hear Adidas (his shoe maker) angry with Garnett about the matter. The game was right down to the wire and turned out to end well even without KG in the game.Late in the first OT Mike James was trapped in a tough angle but managed to nail a three to take a three point advantage. Watching the replay, I thought it was questionable if he went out of bounds or not but they counted it. Now the Pistons had the ball and advanced the ball with a twenty second timeout. Mr. Big ,Chauncey Billups, got a pick to go to the top of

THE SOPHOMORES GAME PLAYERS ANNOUNCED!The All Star weekend event will be a dunk fest and some other players have made good adjustments to make it to Vegas. Here are the players:Rookies- Andrea Bargnani, Jordan Farmar, Randy Foye, Jorge Garbajosa, Rudy Gay, Paul Millsap, Adam Morrison, Brandon Roy and Marcus Williams.Sophomores- Andrew Bogut, Andrew Bynum, Monta Ellis, Raymond Felton, Danny Granger, Luther Head, David Lee, Chris Paul and Deron Williams. Both are good groups with a few surprises. Big thumbs up to all the new talent that got in!CAN YOU WAIT UNTIL THE ALL STAR WEEKEND? I CAN'T!!!

The NBA All Star gam... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 ALL STAR RESERVES ANNOUNCED!The NBA
All Star games reserves have been announced for both conferences and I want to break down the ones that interest me.First, in the Eastern conference. What first jumps out at me is why wasn't there a message in big print on the ballots saying, "DON'T VOTE FOR ANYONE FROM THE ATLANTIC, THEY ARE HORRID TEAMS." I know the game is to produce an exciting up the court I am going to score more than you kinda game, but the Atlantic is the worst division ever in basketball this season in my opinion. The players who made it from the Atlantic are VC and JKidd. I don't want to take anything away from these players and their achievements this year, because let's face it, if you are in that division right now there is one record over 500. No one from those teams should make it, with one exception though, Bosh. The reason Bosh is allowed is because his team has made improvements this year and he is a big factor in leading them into an elite state. Now to the con
DUNK CONTEST PARTICIPANTS AND JUDGES ANNOUNCED!
T... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 DUNK CONTEST PARTICIPANTS AND JUDGES ANNOUNCED!The NBA released the names of the judges of the dunk contest during All Star Weekend in Vegas, and the dukers they will be judging. Here is a list of the judges: The Great MJ, Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter and Dr. J. These are great picks and it should be interesting to see if old school votes differently from the new school. The four participants are: Tyrus Thomas, Gerald Green, Dwight Howard and last year's champion Nate Robinson. I don't know if I agree with putting two big guys in (Thomas and Howard), but hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised. My prediction for the winner would have to be Green, because he got more playing time this season, and will probably come in with more confidence and creativity. Robinson hasn't had a lot of highlight dunks like the masterpiece artworks I have seen from Green this season.IT'S A DUNK OFF, BUT WHO WILL WIN?

GAY PEOPLETim Hardaway, former Heat player, tarnished his image by making crude and cruel comments about his feelings towards gay people. This blew my mind when I read about it because I have had a friendship with Tim when he was with the Pit Bulls in the ABA. A few years ago when I heard about Tim Hardaway starting an ABA team I quickly wrote him an email and was pleasantly surprised when I got a signed letter back from him. This letter invited me to a game and to be an honorary ballboy. Tim Hardaway gained my respect from more than what he did on the court, because he was nice enough to write to a kid and make me feel good. Now, however, I am sad and shocked that Tim would lash out at gay people. He made a terrible mistake and has apologized for it but it won't make up for what he said. He should have known better. I thought he was smarter than that. If you want to read what Tim said, go to www.ESPN.com.

The f... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 ROOKIE CHALLENGE NO PROBLEM FOR SOPHOMORES!The first of the All Star weekend festivites kicked off with the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam, a blowout for the Sophomores 155-114. MVP went to David Lee of the Knicks. He got the award for dunking about 90% of his shots and making two free throws, which in my opinion, overlooked the overall play of Chris Paul. I know the NBA is about trying to bring back the run and gun game and usually awards scoring instead of the little things, but Paul had 12 assists in the first half alone. On the Rookie side, I think the best player was Rudy Gay or maybe Milsap because he stopped some of the bleeding and had some nice plays under the basket. This game is all about putting on a show. I think the Sophomores wanted to come out and crush the hopes of young ones. The Rookies were just looking in the crowd and smiling because they were at All Star weekend and totally forgot to get back on defense. If you care, the All Star Celebrity game was won by th

ALL STAR SATURDAY BIG HIT!Watching All Star Saturday night last night was a blast!First, in the Shooting Stars contest, the Pistons won by default over the Bulls. The Bulls were unfortunately disqualified for Ben Gordon shooting too early. This is unfortunate, but Gordon has to know when to take his shoot.Next, I want to talk about the hilarious race between Sir Charles and Dick Bavetta. Charles really lead all the way and showed his great skills. Also, they raised good money for charity after the race.Jason Kapono stole the show in the three point shootout, and the Heat won not only one but two events with Wade winning the skills challenge. I thought Agent Zero would be right there, but he lost his rhythm after the first round of shooting. The biggest disappointment in this contest was Jason Terry, who scored 10 in the first round and was easily ousted. In the best contest of the night, Gerald Green took home the crown in the Slam Dunk contest. Pat Riley, ... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 PAT RILEY BACK ON HEAT BENCH TONIGHT!Pat Riley, Head Coach of the Miami Heat, will return to the bench tonight against the Rockets at 9 pm Eastern time on ESPN. I think this is the step that will result in a great second half of the season for the Heat. The fill in for Riley, Ron Rothstein, did a great job. Even though The Heat went up and down during the season without Shaq, he gave his all. The players should thank him for his effort and be grateful for all his help.NOW IT'S TIME FOR THE HEAT TO SIZZLE!

T... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 A FEW DEALS MADE BEFORE TODAY'S TRADE DEADLINE
!Today marked the trade deadline for the NBA and very few teams were active.First, the biggest deal in my opinion today was Fred Jones and future considerations to the Blazers and Juan Dixon to the Raptors. I think Dixon is a great player, but I want to see if he fits into Toronto. Fred Jones was inconsistent as a Raptor and should develop more on a bad team like the Blazers.Next, the Mavericks dealt Anthony Johnson to the Hawks for a second round pick. I like this deal for the Mavs because Johnson is a good player but didn't get enough playing time in their system. It doesn't matter what the Hawks do until they start winning but this won't hurt them. The Sixers shipped Alan Henderson to the Jazz for 2007 second-round draft picks. I like this move for the Sixers more than Jazz because they need more young talent as they rebuild and Henderson doesn't do much but rebound. I think it gives the Jazz some depth down low and adds a scrappy re

/Pat SullivanWADE DISLOCATES HIS SHOULDER!Just after Shaq and Pat Riley return it appears Flash may be out for a while also. Last night in a game against the Rockets he sat on the bench and it looked like he was really in pain."I knew it was pretty serious when I looked at him," teammate Shaq said. "His shoulder has been sore the last couple of weeks and he just got hit the wrong way. I think it popped out of place. But he's a tough kid. He's going to do what needs to be done to get back." Quote From ESPNI think this puts an end to that big run the Heat needed to go on to get where they were last season. I'm not saying they won't make the playoffs, but their rhythm will be off if Wade has been out of the lineup and then comes back.GET WELL SOON FLASH!

I don't think he'll use the most of what energy he has until the playoffs. My question about this is are we going to see the real Dwade? Maybe about half of him but that's enough. Shaq should rally the role players and go on a streak as big as they can until Wade can elevate the whole squad another level. Read more:Dwayne

time the Cavs will play the Pistons in Detroit. The Pistons don't need this win as much as Cleveland so I expect they will come out with a keen sense of urgency because a playoff push is needed to earn another playoff learning and experience building expedition. Detroit is in it to win it so expect another down to the wire grind it out in the fourth quarter type of game. Also, Kobe got yet again another suspension from the NBA for hitting Marko Jaric in a double OT loss last night in Minnesota. The NBA is doing this because they are trying to send messages to top players that they can suspend you just as quickly as a scrub player. Read more:Tonight

Race PortPanama
City, Panama- March 11, 2007---On 10th March, Earthrace started its attempt to set a new world record for a powerboat to circumnavigate the globe. Leaving Barbados at an unofficial time of 12:06:26am (UTC), Earthrace set a course for Panama, some 1250 nautical miles away, however just 16 hours later and the boat has been forced to almost abandon the attempt.Earthrace is running a new kind of carbon propellers that were originally developed for submarines, and they offer reduced vibration and better efficiency compared with conventional blades. The propellers however have struggled with the speeds and loads of Earthrace, and just 16 hours into the first leg have started to fail.At 1am this morning, and over a period of about an hour, there was a steady and progressive increase in vibration. Using a dive light, the team inspected the props, and according to Earthrace Skipper Pete Bethune, "we were staggered by the damage". All the blades h Read more:Earthrace

Bickerstaff will not return as coach next season but will continue as a full-time GM. Bernie did an okay job but I'm sure coaching an expansion team stressed him out. The team should be more active in the trade and free agent market now that he can devote twice as much time to his GM duties. MJ had this to say, "I don't see him distancing himself away," Jordan said. "I feel he's been an important part to getting this franchise to where it is now. It will give me the most pleasure to continue that process until we get to where we have to go." This quote came from the Associated Press. I wish Bernie luck and have confidence in him that he will build a successful franchise around Okafor and others. Also, tonight the NCAA tournament kicks off with Niagara playing Florida A&M at 7:30 Eastern time on ESPN. These two teams have almost identical records so it should be a dog fight, but since I live in Floridia I am routing for Florida A&M!

Stotts. The Bucks were a little late to fire him now which is a bad descision, unless the coach they want is available now. They should have kept Stotts for the rest of this season, fire him as soon as their season ends and get the new coach adjusted and also the players adjusted to how they do things.Tonight the Suns and the Mavericks play in Dallas at 9 pm Eastern time on ESPN. What a great game this will be! I think the Mavs will come on top because they will be motivated by an end to their winning streak and want to send a message that they can do it all over again.

I think Georgetown has been playing solid ball and will keep it up. I like Durant's team simply because they have an explosive guy that can take them places. N.C. has also been great and I like their defensive game. My last favorite would be Florida because they have some future pros who can always get it done on the court. I did not do a bracket because I still am learning more about NCAA basketball so I can do right on the ball with my bracket! Thanks for the comments Offseason! If anyone wants to comment just look under this post!

Last night Kobe Bryant ended his streak of four games with 50 or more points. He was just seven off finishing with 43 points which I thought he was lucky to get the way the entire team was playing so well together.Other than the Kobe show the Lakers did win the game 115-113 over the Warriors. They had a big lead like I expected but gave it away in the second quarter. The team had more consistent offense, but lacked the same intensity defensively. Role players were a big part of the Laker attack and Ronny Turiaf is the one who came through the most in crunch time. He went on the floor for loose balls and had a few blocks and got going on the offensive end also with 7 points. Lamar Odom really showed he can do it all with 24 points and 19 ferocious rebounds. I say ferocious because you could see the effort he put into grabbing all of the rebounds. He wanted them more than anyone else which allowed him to take over the rebounding game.Monta Ellis was phenomena Read more:Photo

about my Scot Pollard post. I know there is a fine line between what's acceptable and what's not in the NBA atmosphere, but I am young and feeling my way in the world and maybe occasionally I over react. There are some things that I've seen that I don't want to see, like kids who were smart spiral down to nothing because of drugs. I've known adults who were harmed by taking drugs as kids and now their heads are messed up. I didn't mean to offend fans of Scot--I'm a fan of his myself. I think his hair styles make the game more fun and give his teammates great opportunities and talking points. His hair just makes you smile. And I still think he shouldn't have said what he did.

attempts a fifth straight 50 or more point game against the Warriors at 6:30 Eastern. Kobe should have an easy time getting through defense of a Nelson coached squad. The Warriors' goal is to win with points, and not shutting down KB 24 will obliterate their hopes of winning. I would expect lots of zone defense from the Warriors trying to keep Kobe out of the lane and forcing him to make jumpers. I predict the Lakers to win by more than 10 points. Read more:Tonight

Jeff Van Gundy has a point
when he says all teams should be able to win the lottery. I think he should talk about how this new way of picking the lottery picks would work so more people would be talking about it. If it's a fair process, I think the league should reconsider. This is a good example that not just the people in the NBA officies can change the rules, but so can the people on the court.
