and i would like to share them with the world. The photograph above was taken by the crew on board the Columbia during its last mission, on a cloudless day.The picture is of Europe and Africa when the sun is setting.Half of the picture is in night. The Mediterranean Sea is already in darkness. In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean you can see the Azores Islands; below them to the right are the Madeira Islands ; a bit below are the Canary Islands; and further South, close to the farthest western point of Africa , are the Cape Verde Islands.Note that the Sahara is huge and can be seen clearly both dur Read more: Beautiful

The Department of Denials-A review 2008-03-02 00:12:00 After a long long time, i read this book called "The Department
of Denials" by Anurag Mathur, a week back. An internet habitué, I googled and found out that the book was great or so people said. I was getting all thrilled to read because this was the second or the third time i was reading indian authors. Earlier, i had read Chetan Bhagat's books and was kinda fascinated, if not overwhelmed.A voracious book reader that i am , i read any book that i pick and so far, i must say, i have read the best of books. Classics that make you go all dry-eyed and satires that make you laugh your heads out and philosophical writings that make you all rapturous and tranquil. As an experienced reader(whoa, what a term!) i guess i can very well give a clean review
of the books i read. Well, this time, bef

The Enchanted Castle 2008-01-20 02:39:00 Long ago, so long ago, there lived a boy called Jack who was an orphan. His maternal aunt Lucia took great care of him and he loved his aunt very much. All about casinos 2008-01-20 01:08:00 The exact origin of gambling is unknown. The Chinese recorded the first official account of the practice in 2300 B.C., and it is generally believed that gambling, in one form or another, has been present in almost every society since. From the Ancient Greeks and Romans to Napoleon's France and Elizabethan England, history is rich with tales of exploits based on the games of chance. At the height of the Roman Empire, lawmakers decreed that all children were to be taught to gamble and throw dice. One Roman emperor even designed his carriage to allow dice games while enroute to his official duties. The French are credited with inventing playing cards in 1387, and in 1440 Johann Gutenberg of Germany printed the first full deck of cards. Many present-day gambling games are incarnations of previo Read more: casinos

This idea was quite different and this was what lured me into wrting a post on the same. Now, if you really want to get the books, all you have to do is post an entry about the contest on your blog. The gift may not be great or ostentatious, but i really like her eclectic blog. That's not all, you even get amazon gift certificates!Check out her blog and write a post real quick, coz the deadline is fast approaching. The last date to post your entries is January 21.If you don't want the books, atleast encourage her by linking to the site. Not many in this world are sensible enough to give away books, or so rampantheart thinks;) Read more: unique
Widgets Mania 2008-01-16 23:47:00 Every blogger has this widget mania to increase his/her traffic. I am not exception to it. I have cut and pasted innumerable javascript codes . It started with Feedjit, a great service for tracking visitors to our blog and neo-counter(I don't remember the link) which tells us from which places the main traffic comes.I really loved both of them but had to remove them coz my blog was loading very very slow and many of my readers told me to do something about it. They were apprehensive about it and my new commenting system, as fate would have it, wouldn't let go of me, even i wish to!I had tried uninstalling the code but lo, nothing happens. At least it's faster and not as bad as it was, before, when people frantically begged me to change it or remove it. Clustermaps is a great service and i Read more: Mania

Ayn Rand and The Fountainhead 2008-04-05 05:31:00 In an orkut community, i had posted the following comment in response to a post that eulogised Ms Rand .Here the big comment goes! Why don't ou have your say after reading my point? That might be great! The Fountainhead is one of the best books i have ever read, no doubt. Miss Rand is a gifted story teller.Well, when i read the book few months back, even i was intrigued. Intrigued is too small a word. Disturbed is the word. Like, i got perturbed by the philosophy and felt restless. I began positioning myself as Howard and thought i were him. This continued for about a month or so. Now i have completely recuperated. Now, you may wonder why i have used the word "recuperated". If you are really a shrewd, wise person, you'll notice that her philosophy is sheer brainwashing. Don't be offended, pe
A leap forward 2008-04-18 21:12:00 You all are aware of the fact that though i am not into vigorous blogging for about a few months now,I am still a blogging freak. Semester exams are just round the corner and as mentioned earlier, placements are coming this june. Probably in the midst of june, i guess. So, i must really concentrate on my academics and get placed in a decent company. Well, one thing i have not shared with my blog readers is probably about my future career. Not many know that i want to become an entrepreneur. For an egotistic person like me, team work wouldn't work. I like working independently, without anyone monitoring me. But for time being, i might work for a company for some 2 years and do what i like-blogging full time and developing stuff. Please understand that i am being very serious here.I have pl
