The Last Waltz
2008-05-14 14:45:00
After a long time holed up in my house doing nothing, a good friend took me out on the town. New dinner spots, good beer, charity bookstores, and the last night of the Baggot Inn, a relatively historical place. They've had a bluegrass jam in there for years, and while I never went before, and it was relocated on this night because of sewer problems, I was happy to see the last one.Notice the harmo

Oh Blog! How I Have Neglected You!
2008-05-19 15:29:00
Dear Planetary Blog,I've been a bad friend to you, I know. I haven't written in a really long time. Have I been too busy, you ask? Do I not love you? I have to say blog, it is the former rather than the latter. I really have just been super busy. With what you say? Well, let's see...1) Lost - Let's face it. This season of Lost has been friggen intense (as if they other seasons weren't). I

SiS night
2008-05-29 09:44:00
Wow. What a turnout! And I'm not talking about the amount of people, either. No matter how long you live in New York, there will always be something new waiting for you. Take, for example, a simple Stranded In Stereo show, which happens every month, and adding to it a gaggle of S&M party goers. No one expects it, but that's what makes NYC great! I'll never be able to write well enough to give a s

Farewell friends!

To everyone that I've worked with for the last several years - especially my strange-humored and hard-working co-workers at the Planetary Group - I'll miss you. Best of luck with the music industry!Love,Vicki

The X-Files: I Want To Believe (this movie had a good plot)
2008-07-29 22:53:00
Dear Chris Carter and the rest of you poor souls involved in making the newest X-Files movie ,Just who do you think you are?I mean, really?Did you really think after all these years, you could just hype us fans all up, withholding the title and plot of the movie the entire time of production to ensure it didn't leak on the internet, only to produce a movie that barely resembled the lamest of episod

"I really wish I could grow a moustache"

Natalie Portman's Shaved Head has hit the nail on it's head. Truer words were never spoken. While facial hair doesn't make nearly as much sense in the oppressive summer heat, the general glorious existence of all facial hair collectively should not be forgotten during these sweaty few months. When I was six my dad had a magnificent beard. Much to my horror, out of no where, and without adequate warn

Hey Ladies....
2008-09-12 13:39:00
There are few things as awesome as Nuwan Piyasena. He works with great bands, and is a great guy. To solidify his position on the top of the world's most amazing people, I've been sent a link to a Time Out article with him in it, and this incredible photo. I was also told he was supposed to dress nicely and have a prop on him. No prop, no dress nice.Well done again, Nuwan. Well done indeed.More in

Exploding Dog
2008-09-10 11:36:00
I always liked this site. Alana was the one that showed it to me forever ago, yet again showing off her genius. (Speaking of her genius, she runs the Stranded In Stereo shows at Rehab now, so go see her. The bands are great and it's only three bucks.)Anyway, check out explodingdog.com. It's fantastic and worth a bit of slacking off time."I Like This Music"

yup, I kickball
2008-09-09 17:13:00
I'm not afraid to admit it. I kickball. Wed night, themed every week, followed up by drinking competitions, break dancing, flexing, and so much more. I can't even wait for tomorrow night. Am I a frat kid? Not even close. Does it get frat-like? Oh yes.And no, Santa wasn't the theme this week.

Fortunately Hurricane Hanna wasn't too terribly destructive and I am thus able to make this blog post. The hype Hanna received was very interesting to me. I am from Pensacola, Fl in the Gulf Coast, and hurricanes there have a much fiercer quality that Hanna didn't even begin to touch.Nevertheless, I was thankful for power, though I still lack ac. It seems that fall is on it's way- at one point toda

Geeked.
2008-08-27 14:08:00
I've been in a music geek email chain for a couple days now about the Purdie Shuffle, triplets, Jeff Procaro, anticipating beats, and a bunch of other things that music nerds pass around. What does that mean for you? It means this. You love it.

Blogger Smackdown Update:
2008-10-01 17:44:00
Play By Play: The contest is ON! General blogs jumped to an early lead by sheer quantity in numbers, and by last year's winner raising a quick $11k! Music blogs are behind but if last year teaches anything, it's that the winner can be decided in a matter of days. We also know that blogs with the most readers have yet to win! (Last year's winner only had 1,000 readers per month!) Music Blog

High School Heros
2008-09-30 09:41:00
Someone emailed me this picture of Josh Schwartz's wedding the other day. It was posted on POPSUGAR because Rachel Bilson was in it, which makes sense, since she shows up in all the shows Schwartz has been a part of. Seriously, Josh, there's NO WAY you can't see this Rabbi looks like the head of your high school. Not a chance. They're identical. Except for their religion. Admit it.

So all the Planetary gang likes to have fun, just ask Jess Pye, the current drunken belching champion. Or Adam "Late Night" Lewis. But we can be serious, too, and when it comes to something as important as whose plan we're going to follow for the next four years, and possible the next fifty or more, I for one get panicked with seriousness. I have my guy, and I do care who people are vo

Helping Bands on Tour
2008-09-14 21:25:00
Gas is so expensive nowadays I'm surprised to see as many bands on the road touring this fall. I've never had to worry about where to sleep while on tour (knock, knock, knock on wood as my scoliosis would NOT agree with that.) But for many on the road, finding a place to stay every night is sometimes not so easy and no one wants to sleep in a van every night. Fortunately for all those bands on
