I love twitter!
2008-08-01 16:20:04
If not for twitter (and dh, of course), I wouldn’t have seen dh post the link to qik, where the live GOP press conference is going on. The house GOP totally rocks! After all, all they want is an up or down vote on gas prices. What’s so hard about that? The dems always say they want to help the people, but walk out when an opportunity to do so comes around. UPDATE: I think you can stil

The countdown begins
2008-08-01 09:02:08
As of today, it is T-24 days until my first day of classes. I am both incredibly excited and incredibly nervous. I don’t think I’ve been this nervous before. Or at least not in a long time. And I can’t really say it’s a bad kind of nervous. More of an excited nervous. Does that make sense? Either way, there are butterflies in my stomach something awful! I don’t think

Manic Monday
2008-07-28 08:22:23
Ugh. I don’t like Monday ’s. They’ve never been a favorite day of mine. Usually it’s a day to go back to work or school, though it doesn’t mean either of those two things for me for another month. I just don’t like getting up on Monday morning. I mean, it isn’t like I have partied hard over the weekend and am regretting it Monday morning or anything. I just

Finally!
2008-07-25 10:17:01
Other than my post in CT last Sat, I haven’t had time to post anything! We’ve been super busy since we got back Sunday afternoon. Sunday evening the boys and I went off to the kick-off party for the Steve Tasker March of Dimes Golf Tournament. Monday was the tournament. It was a long day, but it was fun. Well, it’s been a long two weeks, really. My sisters shower went smashingly

I have been busy
2008-08-17 14:36:05
I have had a busy 2 weeks and it shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. A week and a half ago, my grandmother passed away and I had to make my second trip to Indiana in a month for her viewing and funeral. It was a tough time for the family, especially my dad, uncle and aunt. Thankfully, she left this world peacefully and is now blissfully roaming around the gardens of heaven with my grandf

And I thought I was old
2008-09-09 19:02:25
At least in most of my classes, anyway. Today in my campaigns and elections class we talked about the use of social networking (among other things) as a way for candidates to reach the all-important youth vote. I commented that while I was perusing the DNC and RNC blogs last week for another assignment, I [...]

Time Management and first day of kindergarten
2008-09-08 07:59:51
School is going well for me and, as you can see from the neglect on my blog, I’ve been busy at work, too. While my classes aren’t too much of a struggle yet, I’m finding it difficult to manage my time between school, work, studying, laundry, cleaning and spending time with the fam. I’ve not [...]

“Touch Sight” camera for the blind
2008-09-03 09:15:36
As I follow the Kodak Chief Blogger on twitter, she posted a url to this story, which I find really cool! Here’s what the designer, Chueh Lee over at Samsung China, says about the camera: “Touch Sight is a revolutionary digital camera designed for visually impaired people. Simple features make it easy to use, including a [...]

First Day of School - A Wordless Wednesday post
2008-09-03 08:32:42
Ryan and Zach’s first day of school. Not too many pics since they start second grade. However, Alex starts kindergarten tomorrow and you can bet there will be lots of pics for that!

An interesting take on Obama/Biden
2008-08-26 18:48:00
In preparing for the upcoming changes to my blog (more on that later) I found this article on Pajamas Media about how Obama /Biden is bad for dads. I found it an interesting read. I will say that his premise is an interesting one, for sure. Obama’s castigation of African-American fathers, blaming them alone for the [...]

I guess I look like I fit in…
2008-08-26 11:53:25
My second day on campus and I was barely out of my van when I was approached to help find a couple of buildings by two separate people. One was easy to help. She was carrying a map (but was having a hard time deciphering it, I guess) and I pointed her across the street [...]

An interesting year
2008-08-25 16:49:49
I’ve only had 2 of my 4 classes so far (the other 2 come tomorrow) but I can tell it’s going to be an interesting year. . My first class today could be interesting if the prof is able to entertain us, lol. It’s European Integration…basically it’s all about the E.U. He admitted the book [...]

It’s here
2008-08-24 15:49:38
The first day of my re-entry to college is upon me and I have to admit that I’m scared to death! Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m uber excited. But being out-of-the-loop for 7 years and jumping back in is scary…at least for me. Maybe I won’t feel as out of place once I get [...]

A contemplation on life and life after death
2008-08-22 18:06:10
It has now been two weeks since I left to go back home for my grandmother’s funeral. I did very well with it, considering she’s the last of my grandparents to pass on. Admittedly, I don’t think I’ve really come to terms with it yet. I think I did a pretty good job of holding [...]

No more babies
2008-09-28 15:16:05
I suppose it is official today, if it wasn’t already official on his first day of school. Alex is no longer a baby. Not that he’s been a baby for a couple of years, anyway. There was something oddly final about his first day of school, and today’s event solidified that for me. He lost [...]

GO BOILERS! BEAT THE IRISH!
2008-09-27 14:43:36
I haven’t done much on my blog in awhile. Part of it is that I’m just so busy with school and work and home that I don’t have time. Part of it is that I have to keep a blog for one of my classes, so the time I would normally have to blog here [...]

100 days to Christmas
2008-09-20 07:41:39
Yes, I know that there are now 96 days to Christmas , and not 100, as the title suggests. What I’m actually talking about is a website called One Hundred days to Christmas. It’s another List Mama blog, but I like it because it’s Christmas related. I always find that it sneaks up on me. One [...]

Ways to stay positive in a troubled economy
2008-09-19 07:41:38
Hat tip: List Mama Jennifer over at List Mama’s Blog posted this list of things that can be done to stay positive during our economic downturn. Very simple ideas, but I think during hard times we over look the little things that could make us happier in lieu of wanting a permanent “fix,” whatever that may [...]

I’m an aunt!
2008-09-17 06:11:46
At 4:04 this morning, my niece, Lillian Grace was born. 7 pounds, 9 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. Welcome to the world, sweet Lilly! Here is my beautiful new niece: I had predicted that she’d be born on the 16th or 17th, while my parents thought she’d be a 9/11 baby. I was right [...]

Books and movies and cards, oh, my!
2008-09-14 14:59:01
I took the boys to the library today and made a decision to turn some of the reigns over to the twins. I got them their very own library cards. I have never seen two kids as tickled as they were, standing there in line, signing their names to the cards. They couldn’t believe they [...]

Great plant fertilizer
2008-10-01 09:03:40
I work at Borders Books in the cafe. One of the things we do in the cafe is save our coffee grounds. Sounds weird, right? I know. I thought so, too. Every 90 minutes when we brew a new pot of coffee, we dump the grounds into an empty coffee bean bag (a big one, [...]

November is Prematurity Awareness month
2008-11-07 09:33:14
As you can see from my blog design, it’s Prematurity Awareness month again. It started last weekend, obviously, but I’ve had so much going on that I haven’t had a chance to post anything about it. I also made a new banner for the occasion. The small inset banner in the middle is supposed to [...]

Trick-or-Treat!
2008-11-02 18:25:24
Thought I’d post out Halloween trick-or-treating pics for everyone. We went with some friends from church (who also have 3 boys) and had a blast! First things first: Here’s a pumpkin patch the boys made, which I thought was very cute. Here’s our jack-o-lantern. He’s patterned after Jack the pumpkin king from The Nightmare Before Christmas. It’s the most wonderful time of the year
2008-10-27 21:59:58
Halloween marks the start of our busy season around here. After Halloween, we prepare for Thanksgiving and Brian’s birthday. Fortunately, this year they aren’t the same day! 15 days later is Alex’s birthday. His Godfather will be in town that weekend to celebrate his birthday and Christmas with the boys, which means that sometime before [...]

The “s” word
2008-10-22 08:47:04
Oh, no! We are barely halfway through October and I’ve seen the first *ahem* snow of the season. I was so totally not prepared for that. I knew there was snow last night in the higher elevations around here, but that’s different. It wasn’t here. It was there. There is not here. Well, it is [...]

Been a long while
2008-10-20 09:28:51
Once again, it’s been far too long since I have blogged. I find it much harder to even be in the mood to blog now-a-days. It isn’t that I don’t want to, I’m just not motivated enough to think of something to blog about, lol. Not to mention that for the last two weeks, I’ve [...]

I was tagged!
2008-10-20 08:57:10
Sadly, this came in a while ago. I just have been so busy with school and work I haven’t had a chance to participate yet! I was tagged by Multitasking Mama to list 6 random things about me that you all may not know. So, here goes! 1. I have a fear of public restrooms. I’ll [...]
