Earth Day ponderings 2008-04-22 10:01:49 Well, I wasn’t planning on blogging about Earth
Day. It’s so cliche to that, really, when everyone else in the world is doing it, too. What more could I possibly add? Nothing, really. I’ll just leave you with this cartoon, courtesy thedailygreen.com. Oh, how I can relate to this….

Green Mother’s Day gifts 2008-04-30 08:21:07 With Mother’s Day just over 2 weeks away, I have (finally) started thinking about what to get my mom. I’m probably a bit late in my planning, but I just have to get through the twins’ birthday before I can think about Mother’s Day. I decided I’d start with a search for the “hot” gifts of 2008. Surprisingly, that didn’t turn much up. Just the usual, flowers, chocolate, jewelry, and handbags…I guess the handbags are the hot item this year, since that was the only constant in each list I found. Then I decided to do a search for green Mother’s Day gifts. Boy, is there a lot of info on that! Alot of them are good ideas; organic perfume and makeup, fair trade organic coffee or tea, flowers from a local flower shop, soy and beeswax candl Read more:Green
Rainy Day fun and brotherly love 2008-04-29 14:53:46 We’ve had such fantastic weather here (up ’til now, anyway). On Saturday, while it was still warm, we had some thunderstorms. In between the showers, I allowed the boys to run through the puddles out back with a few of their neighborhood friends. That was always one of my favorite things to do; run through puddles in the rain. I snapped a couple of pictures, as well as a couple of pics of Ryan and Zach.

7 years gone by 2008-04-29 14:33:00 Since I wasn’t able to get into my dashboard yesterday, I’m posting this a day late. It’s hard to believe that 7 years have passed since the birth of our twins. We’ve come a long way from the long, endless nights spent in the NICU. Every passing year reminds me of just how lucky we are that the boys have no lasting effects from their prematurity. Every birthday reminds me of how lucky we are, how lucky they are. Thank you, God, for giving us such healthy, happy babies.
We opted out of a party this year because of the whole moving thing. This way, they have time to build up friendships and we have time to build up our finances, lol. We did cake and presents yesterday and we have something special planned for them tomorrow evening. A special members only event for th

13. I could be wrong, though. I will be trying to do this more in the future. This weeks theme is “alphabet” so, in keeping with a Mother’s Day theme, I chose the letter “m” for mother. Here are 13 reasons I love being a mom:
Thirteen
reason I love being a mom
1. I get to play with toys! Maybe more than that, I get to experiment with “boy” toys, like Transformers, Rescue Heroes, etc. I was such a girly girl when it came to toys, for the most part. I played with Barbies (although my sister and I were known for marrying our Barbies with G.I. Joe’s. Ken was wimpy in our book…Barbie was much more likely to fall for Joe than Ken.).
2. I love hearing my boys sa
A picture is worth 1000 words 2008-05-01 09:09:44
Well, in this case, it could be worth $1000, not 1000 words. I’m participating in a Mother’s Day Giveaway over at 5 Minutes for Mom. Egg Beaters has teamed up with Susan and Janice to give one lucky reader/participant a $1000 American Express gift card. What do I have to do? Submit a photo of what motherhood means to me. It’s a pretty intriguing idea, really. There any number of things I can >em>say that motherhood means to me. But to find a picture takes it to a whole new level. Lucky for me I had the perfect picture in mind. It’s 5 years old, but there’s nothing I have in my photo arsenal that demonstrates motherhood any better. Here is the picture I chose:
I don’t know that this photo needs any explanation, but I’ll do it anyway. We were movin
Friday Fill-Ins #1 2008-05-02 10:20:09 Yes, I’ a meme person today, I guess. I figure since I haven’t had much to blog about lately, I’d better keep my blog at least looking busy. So, I’ll probably have a daily meme (or two….or three) just to give me something to do here, lol.
1. Two of my favorite ingredients in a drink are water and tea, lol. I’m an iced tea gal!
2. My children often amaze me.
3. You can keep doing that forever, the dog is never going to be able to talk.
4. Start with love. Add some frog tails, beauty, energy, dirt and a very loud sound system, mix it all together and voila! You have my 3 boys!.
5. If I had a yard with a garden, I would love to grow tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and watermelon.
6. Rice cakes are best au naturel.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’ Read more:Friday

What was your favorite cartoon when you were a child?
Oh, wow! I don’t know that I had a favorite, per se. I loved the Smurfs and the Snorks, He-Man and She-Ra, Pound Puppies, Care Bears, Rainbow Brite…oh, I could go on. Just about any of the 80’s cartoons I loved (and still love)

Pretend you are about to get a new pet. Which animal would you pick, and what would you name it?
Hmmm….probably a puppy/dog. What would I name him or her? Hmm, I dunno. I’d probably let the kids name the pup.

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy getting all dressed up for a special occasion?

March for Babies is tomorrow! 2008-05-03 20:42:37 As the co-chair for the Mission Family teams here in Rochester, I get to give a quick 2-3 minute “speech” about why I got involved in the March
of Dimes. That should be fun. I guess I’ll get over my fear of public speaking real quick, huh? DH will be moblogging, so look for random pics from the walk, courtesy dh’s phone On the upside, we got cool purple family team shirts on top of the March for Babies
shirt I’ll get for fundraising. Is that not awesome?! I love what they are doing here and I love being involved!
Alright, off to bed for me. It’ll be an early morning. Thank goodness there will be Starbucks there, lol. I’ll need some. And, boy, I wish I had some extra money this month…they are having a knock-off purse sale, too!

Mario Kart Wii problems 2008-05-03 11:48:51 The twins got Mario
Kart Wii
for their birthday. it’s a fun game, but we have run into a problem. We want to connect to my sil and play with her. However, after sharing numbers, etc, every time we try to connect with her for a game, we get booted and get an error code (that seems to be for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, by the way). We have tried everything that Nintendo’s site has suggested. I have even googled the problem without much success (obviously) in finding the answer. Does anyone whose been successful at hooking up with friends online have any advice or suggestions?

What a success! 2008-05-04 13:19:22 I have to say that I am so super impressed with how Rochester does their walk! They had music, a bounce-around, Home Depot Kids Workshops, crafts for the kids, pizza and hot dogs afterwards, Starbucks coffee, donuts, clowns, face painting and more! I did a little spiel about why I got involved with the MOD and then I was interviewed by a local tv station (as you can see from the previously posted picture from dh’s cell phone).
We have been chosen to be the Ambassador family for their golf tournament this summer. I am super excited about that and our meetings will start in a couple of weeks. There’s something about being involved so closely with an organization that really makes a person feel fulfilled, ya know? I just don’t know that I can explain in words what voluntee

It’s that “school” thang…. 2008-05-08 15:48:49 Lots of school stuff going on today…well, this week, actually. Tuesday we had a parent/teacher conference with Ryan’s teacher and had an impromptu meeting with the speech teacher as well. Today, Alex had his kindergarten physical and 4 immunizations. What a trooper that kid is, I tell ya. He didn’t really cry for the first three shots. The last one, the MMR shot, was the one he screamed for. I don’t blame him, really. That’s the one that stings like heck. He dried right up when he got to choose a toy and a sticker, and I gave him a little packet of Oreo cookies that I still had in my purse from his Bill Gray’s kids meal from last weekend. He isn’t the type of kid that has any kind of reaction to immunizations so I don’t have to worry about gi Read more:thang
Thursday Thirteen 2008-05-08 15:12:40 Today’s ThursdayThirteen
is a “gross” edition, in honor of the 144th edition. We could use any definition of gross, so here’s mine:
Thirteen “gross” things about raising boys.
1. No matter how many times I remind them, they just don’t seem to remember to put the toilet seat up. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve found pee on the toilet seat!
2. I have found that boys can not pee in the middle of the night. By that, I mean that they can’t actually make it in to the bowl but rather they pee all around the toilet. Either that, or they are having way to much fun trying to see how many surfaces they can pee on before mom goes insane!
3. Laughing at bodily functions is a favorite pastime for my boys. I don’t get

Then, my dad bought us a gas grill as an early Christmas present, so dh grilled steaks for dinner. I finished my photomosaic puzzle (it only took me a week!) and had a pretty relaxing day. Now, on to todays meme!

DH is going to jail 2008-05-14 16:18:52 Yep, you read that right. 2 weeks from tomorrow, Brian’s being locked up. To be released on good behavior, he needs to raise $800 for his bail. I love being frugal 2008-05-17 13:55:12 I am a member of an onine twins community. We are parents or grandparents of twins. They are such a great resource. Our twins range in age from babies to adults, so somewhere, someone has either been though what you have or will go through it. Most of us have children in addition to our twins. I just love being part of a community of people like that. I became really good friends with someone from

The second is the daunting task of packing suitcases. Oy. I have decided that I can no longer fit all 3 boys in the same suitcase so Alex now gets his own, smaller, duffle bag. As much as I hate to pack even one extra bag due to space in the van, I am really
