Random Blogroll Project
2007-03-28 04:53:00
Msau from SQKiki's Simple Tech has recently initiated a project to creat our own 'ring'. In this version of ring, those who are invited by msau, all sent her our blog's URL and blog name. She and her guru then include all these blogs in a ring.To reciprocate the effort in including your blog in the ring, you are required to install the codes in your site - very easy. Bloggers who install the codes will get a randomly generated 20 blogs displayed as their blogroll now. You can see that random bloroll at my sidebar. It is restricted to only 20, indeed very reasonable. If you are interested to join this project, but not invited earlier, you may want to contact msau at her blog. Tell you what, my technorati ranking improved 40% after joining the club!Update: msau asks that you visit the project here. After installing the script in your blog, leave a comment at that page or email her, then your blog will be included in the blogroll.

Good News For Drug Sufferers
2007-03-31 10:16:00
Have you ever wonder why once addicted to drug, it is very hard to withdraw? And those who have been through drug rehab processes, still tend to give in again to drugs?Research confirmed that toxins from the use of drug can remain in the body's fatty tissues for years. When they are still in the body, these toxins can still be stimulated later in life, creating the cravings for the drugs again! It is essential to remove these toxins from the body completely, so that we can eliminate the likelihood that it being stimulated to cause the drug cravings again. To remove these toxins, it is called drug detoxification. It involves a few processes like long periods of time in a dry sauna, proper diet, exercise and supplements. By completing the Narconon Stone Hawk drug rehabilitation program, cravings for drug can be significantly reduced (ref chart). This Narconon Stone Hawk drug rehab center is available in the Europe and US. In fact, US's price is 1/3 of those in Europr.Sponsored Post

Protect our children on the Internet
2007-04-02 05:18:00
Got this tag from SSS1979 and 5xmom. It is not the usual meme. This thing is called upon by Blogger Power, to help safeguarding the web for chldren. How do we play a part to safeguarde the web for children? Read below:If you are a blogger, post the common sense request to all the “adult site”webmasters on your site. You can either write your own article about it, orsimply copy-paste our letter: Please require a password-protected login before allowing even free access to explicit adult content. We understand that selling porn is your business and we respect your right to make a legal living. But understand our legitimate concerns and work with us. You already have the “warning adult content” on your websites. Yet kids, who are not legal customers of your product, ignore the warning. So to prevent them from having direct access to explicit images, texts and sounds, the simplest way is to have a password-protected login. No more “free tours” before a visitor supplies basic

Contests To Increase Traffic
2007-04-22 10:26:00
If you have a good blog and would like to increase your traffic further, you may want to consider running a contest in your own site.AhBoon, a very popular blog with high traffic, is a good example. He is currently running a contest to give away USD70 to those who can correctly (accurately) guess his blog's traffic plus two years subscription to GoStats.com. If no one can guess the traffic accurately, he will give away USD40 to the closest answer.Well, actually I am using statsconter so am not very interested in the gostats.com subscription. If he can change the prize to statscounter, would be even more attractive to me. Hahaha!Anyway, as mentioned in my other blog, I think he has a very strong and good site, and he has spent a very good effort to maintain it. A lot of very interesting stuff, and he has things that can attract different walks of life.My guess to his April total page load is 282,572. This is a random guess number, just slightly above AhBoon's own guessing. Haha

PPP Direct
2007-05-28 04:15:00
PayPerPost has launched its new tool, which is called PPP Direct .PPP Direct is similar to the ReviewMe but with a few advantages. Before I go on with the advantages, let me share with you why I liked ReviewMe.My main blog has a ReviewMe ranking of between 1 and 2 (depends on my incoming links and traffic of the time). That means, for every ReviewMe posts I write, I am paid either USD20 or USD30.Though sometimes PayPerPost has high payment opportunities on blog ads, I am often left out. Those opportunities are often released during my busy hours. Usually when I tried to grab them, they are all taken. I really don't like to waste my time and blog space for lower paid opportunities, and in fact my time is my luxury I better prioritize what I do with it.With ReviewMe, advertiser choose my blog, and I have a couple of days to write my review for them with better quality - I don't have to rush to complete it within 30 mins like in PPP.Okay, enough of ReviewMe. So, what is PPP Direct then?P

New Type of Autions
2007-06-17 11:39:00
Have you heard of 'The lowest bid wins'?When I first heard of that, I didn't understand it at all. I thought - if I want to bid, I would want t be the 'lowest' i.e. 'zero'! Then, everyone is a winner?!Well, actually it is not. I was just too dumb. :PThe aution concept of 'Lowest bid wins', actually works this way...To win a prize, you must have the lowest unique bid at the end of the game. The lowest unique bid for any prize starts at one penny, but if more than one person bids a penny, then that penny is no longer the lowest unique bid, and 2 cents is. If more than one person bids 2 cents then 3 cents is the next lowest unique bid. And so on and so on.Currently there are a lot of free gifts/ hot prizes to be won now, which include BMW 3 Series, Apple iPod Video, Philips 50" HDTV, Designer bags, etc, and even CASH prizes to be won!If you'd like to play the bidding game, which prizes would you go for? ;)

NuffNang
2007-06-21 23:57:00
Nuffnang is a blog advertisingcommunity in Malaysia.Within its first few weeks of launching on the27th February 2007, over 1,000 bloggers all over Malaysia have joined thecommunity with hopes of not only earning money from blog ads but also in a showof support for the community. This is the dream of Nuffnang: To createan opportunity for local advertisers to reach out and experience the power ofblog advertising in Malaysia. The above was picked from Nuffnang's homepage/About.Yes, we have our own blog advertising community in Malaysia now! I was also one of those bloggers who joined early this year. It is very encouraging to find out more and more Malaysian advertisers advertising in Nuffnang. My main blog has got picked up by advertisers a few times now. I haven't really worked hard on this blog and my travel blog, so it is not surprising that they haven't got picked up yet. :)The current pay out is not that great compared to TextLink yet. I have 3 advertisers for TextLink in my

Review My Posts
2007-02-17 10:17:00
PayPerPost has recently introduced its new Review My Post program. In some of the bloggers website, you might see this badge:When you see this, it means if you write a post in your blog to review that post, you will be paid by PayPerPost. As a PPP member, this program pays you every time someone signs up and reviews a post on your blog. It's a great way to earn money and increase blog traffic and interest in your own site.Furthermore, isn't it good to get someone to review your blog? This program is open to all bloggers and is great for bloggers who aren't interested in doing sponsored posts. Bloggers can simply add this badge at the end of their post and easily earn money and build traffic with no additional effort. If you are new to PPP, why not try it now? You don’t have to write anything against your view. Just write your honest comments about my posts, and provide a link back, then you will be paid.It is very easy to participate. You just need to click the badge to sign-up with

LoudLaunch
2007-06-29 03:13:00
LoudLaunch is another blog advertising media that connects advertiser and bloggers. It allows bloggers to be compensated for distributing the advertisers press releases. What registered blogger needs to do is to search through the list of latest press release campaigns, select campaigns aligned with blog, post a Micro Press Release on blog based on the advertisers campaign, and be compensated based on the exposure the blog can deliver.LoudLaunch requires blogger to disclose that the post is a sponsored or paid post. In fact, as an ethical blogger, I would strongly advise you to disclose all the paid/sponsored posts even if that is not required.LoudLaunch's disclosure works this way: Each post in their network will include a LoudLaunch button and text that designates the posting as a Micro Press Release and links to the advertisers’ press release on the LoudLaunch network. To join the LoudLaunch network, you must meet a few minimum requirements as well as pass a discretionary review.Un

Sponsored Review
2007-07-18 23:17:00
Lately I find it hard to grab highly paid opportunities from PayPerPost. I think as the member population grows, the current advertisers cannot satisfy hungry posties like us.As I've spent most of my hard earned blog income on eBay recently, I started to look for other source of blog income, something different from PPP. I am 'starved' for highly paid tasks! :PFollowing a trail left by an advertiser, I came upon Sponsored Reviews. This is a blog ad program, combining the features of both ReviewMe and PayPerPost. After I registered with them, my blog is listed in their market place. An advertiser can 'shop' and pickup blogs and assign task to the blog. The price is set by blogger, but Sponsored Reviews would provide a recommended range based on blog's popularity. This is similar to Review Me.Alternatively, a blogger can also search for tasks and 'bid' for the task. This is similar to PPP, but with a twist that I like - advertiser can accept or reject the bid. I believe a

Blog Income
2007-10-25 09:39:00
I started blogging in Mar 2005, without knowing much about blog income/ads.Back then, there weren't many choices of blog ads. The most common one was Google Adsense. I didn't know anything about Page Rank, Alexa Rank, Technorati Rank, etc. I didn't know what was my blog's ranking at that time. But one thing for sure is that my Google Adsense's income was very pathetic - even until now! They used to release cheques when minimum of USD100 is achieved. If they keep to that, I'd still not able to get my cheque. Now that they have reduced to USD50, I just merely qualified for my first cheque, but I chose to withold it. USD50, after removing the processing fee, there won't be much left! After waiting for so many years, only got a pathetic $50 (with actual much less!).In 2006, blog as an advertising platform, had gained attractions amongst online advertisers. Thanks to Lilian's tips, I started writing for PayPerPost, then added other things like Blogsvertise, Review Me, TextLink

Online Bathroom Shops
2007-10-22 18:59:00
I've visited some show house units to steal some ideas on how to renovate my house next year. One of the items that I particularly like to see is bathroom ideas. I particularly like those designer sinks with designer taps. It makes the bathroom more attractive, instead of the normal 'yulk' or dirty feeling/perceptions!The type of designer taps that I particularly like is the glass waterfall basin mixer tap like the one on the left.It looks even better if it is fixed on glass basin with designer stands. That would make this tap even more outstanding. My house will not have enough space for a bathtub, so a shower unit will be suffice. The only item that I am interested to look out for my bath would be a shower screen/door, and the accessories items. So far, nothing in particular that I like about. Will continue look for more ideas... :)[Brought to you by Taps4Less.com]

Recent Google PageRank Hoo-Hah
2007-10-27 21:19:00
Recently there were many hoo-hah's on the October Google PR Update. There were two rounds of updates, and as usual the chain-effect is still noticed until today. Many sites' PR is still not settled yet, and are still fluctuating. In this update, Google has taken action to penalizing sites for selling links by demoting their PR ranking. This is part of Google's effort in improving its search engine's result.Google search engine returns results with sites' positions in the list, based on how many links back to the sites. The algorithm is based on the believe that the more links a site get, the more 'authority' it is. Sites with higher PR (score ranges from 0 to 10) would appear first in search results. However, the link selling activities (as described in many of this blog's posts) have greatly inflated those sites who buy links. That is, a site may have many links-back, which are not trully based on its true performance, but more of through paying other sites to link to them (

If you have not sign up, hurry before they close for registration!!
2008-02-11 20:14:00
I was approached much, much, much earlier for signing up Pay Per Play. I've been sitting on it for a real LONG time. I have been struggling between: making money versus affecting the overall experience of my visitors to my site.I was worried if I embed the codes on my blogs, would that slow down the page loading speed? As I didn't spend my time explore the program, I also had the wrong impression that it might involve some pop up screens. As a web user myself, I hate pop up screens, and that was one of the reasons I didn't explore further nor sign up.Whatever it was, I've just signed up today, as I found out that it is actually audio ads, and by default only 5 seconds ads were played.I tested including the codes in this blog and my travel blog, both returning errors when I load the pag

Interested to be in a survey panel and be rewarded with cash?
2008-01-30 04:19:00
Here is a way that you can earn some side income from completing online surveys.I am one of those who have taken many surveys that enter me into sweepstakes that I have never won before. Unlike those surveys, this campaign GlobalTestMarket currently running, is quite unique in the way how it rewards the panel members.Unlike other research agencies, you’ll receive money for every online survey you take, even if it turns out you are ineligible to complete the survey. Once you reach 1,000 MarketPoints, you can redeem your points for $50 U.S. dollars. The survey topics run by them is quite interesting, which includes:MoviesRestaurantsAutomobilesConsumer productsCurrent eventsMany other topics that interest you!The online paid surveys you complete directly influence the development of products

Is blogging still an enjoyable thing to do?
2008-01-25 07:02:00
I discussed this in my parenting and breastfeeding blog earlier, and would like to dwell more on the topic here, which seems more relevant. It really depends what is your intention of blogging. If you are doing a full time blogging for money, then perhaps you can still continue doing what you are doing. For most of the bloggers like me, we have a full time career, a family to take care of. Blogging can sometimes be a luxury for us, not even to spend too much time in money blogging. When I started blogging, I wasn't even aware that it can bring in income. Google Adsense was really the first that I've been exposed, long before PR link juice selling comes onboard. After signing with PPP, Blogsvertise, Blogitive, Creamaid, ReviewMe, LoudLaunch, SponsoredReview, etc, I became so occupied with writi

Adverlet's official reply to recent incident
2008-01-08 06:47:00
Maybe I shouldn't be too hard on Adverlets in my last post. Anyone can make mistake, we are not saint. Like Josh Lim @ Adverlets said in his email to all publisher, some mistakes people make is small any probably not noticable by others, but some mistakes can be impactful. No doubt, the latest mistake they made has a chain reaction effect, that affected many bloggers. This particular mistake takes longer time to be corrected as it involves DNS updates (normal when refreshing a 'new'/'updated' domain). The best way is really don't let it expire.I give them thumbs up in handling this incident, as they openly admitted their mistake and apologised for it. It would be great to see if they are compensating the affected bloggers financially, for their lost of income during the affected period. Per

Adverlets Sucks
2008-01-07 07:39:00
Adverlets, the company which claimed themselves as "Asia's Better Blog Advertising Network", has recently upset and angered their ad publishers (bloggers). How did it happen?Well, their domain was expired and they forgot to renew! Such a simple thing but happening in business is really unacceptable. It shows how serious they are in this business. It shows that they expected to be in the business only for a year - to test out the water, then renew the domain if the 'water' is good, putting us bloggers/publishers in guinea pigs positions. What is worst in the case is, the ad unit codes placed in their publishers have hijacked all publishers' blogs. That is, the codes re-directed all the publishers' blogs to the domain expiry page. It means advertising income lost to these bloggers, and al

I can't use Social Spark
2008-05-12 06:44:00
I know, Social Spark has been launched for a while now. I still cannot use it.It is so frustrating. I've registered, trying to upload my picture and then got stuck with funny screen.I was stuck like that for a while. Now when I tried to get in again, it is telling me that I need to upgrade my browser to IE7.Okay, my PC is locked by our IT department, and I cannot do anything to the programs. I

Use or Not Use PayPerPlay
2008-06-26 08:19:00
Well, I wrote about registering for Pay Per Play in an earlier post. I urged you to sign up before they close for registration. After signing up, after joining the 'test' phase for quite a while, I finally give up.There are 3 reasons I quit.First, I heard many bloggers complaint/anticipate that the readers' experience would be bad. I couldn't imagine it at first. After a few weeks, I felt it mys

Quit from SponsoredReviews
2008-06-23 18:58:00
After I managed to regain my Google PR for all my 3 blogs, I've decided not to break the rules, and would insist to include "nofollow" tags on all the sponsored links. So, I went over to all the sites offering paid reviews, checked their terms & conditions. Some clearly stated that all links must not have the "nofollow" tags. For those, I just removed my blog and moved on.There are some sites not
