Blow Bubbles 2007-05-04 08:36:57 Isabel has been having flu and cough for nearly a month already. Yesterday, when DH was carrying her…
She blew bubbles with the mucus, on her nose!! She played with it and had fun with it! Aiyoh! So messy, we quickly wiped that away. But, she just looked so adorable.
And she looked at us innocently, giving us the look of:
“What’s wrong? I’m just having fun!”
She has learnt how to get entertained with her sickness. Read more:Bubbles
Ceiling Fans 2007-05-04 05:09:09 I didn’t know ceiling fans can be so exciting until I came to know of the new designs available in the market!
All this while, I only know of the very simple ceiling fans — the standard 3 or 4 blades, without any ornaments. Or, if any ornaments, they are usually ugly and overly decorated - become very cheapskate.
But this is not with Minka Aire ceiling fans. Their contemporary ceiling fans are very nice. Look at this:
Cool, isn’t it? I wish to get this for my house next year, not sure if it is available here or not…
They also have what is called Low Profile ceiling fans. This is very suitable for apartments with low ceiling. I remember last year CNY, one blogger’s cousin (or someone) hurt by a ceiling fan, because someone lifted him up over the shoulder and his head got literally ‘chopped’! With this low profile ceiling fans, it is less likely to happen, coz the fans are closer to the ceiling.
But I must say the prices are quite expen Read more:Ceiling
Fever is Gone 2007-05-04 04:11:59 Finally, Ian’s fever didn’t come back since yesterday evening. I am relieved.
But… my turn now. I am down with flu and sore throat. Perhaps from lack of sleep, as I’ve been sleeping 3-4 hours a day since Sunday! Plus work stress and all that…
I’m glad my sore throat didn’t get worse since last night. I hate flu, but better than sore throat. Need a lot of vit C now… perhaps too late. Read more:Fever
Update on Sick Ian 2007-05-03 10:48:46 Came back from hospital. Paed said previous blood test may not be accurate, coz if anything, it will only show in the blood after 5 days. Mycoplasma reading is too low, at border line, not confirmative enough.
He found that Ian’s tonsil is swollen. Though no complaints of sore throat, it is suspected the fever and tummy ache is caused by this. So, we are trying to treat his throat first.
He said, if by Sat morning fever still comes back, then we will do another blood test.
When I left Ian at MIL’s place at 3pm, he was still having fever… Poor boy… Read more:Update
Guessing AhBoon’s Traffic - Best Review 2007-05-07 07:25:51 Didn’t expect this, but it happened. I won the best review from AhBoon.
He ran a contest in his site last month, oppened for bloggers only. Participating bloggers have to write a review of his blog and guess his April total page views. The correct answer would get USD70, and if no winner, the closest answer would get USD40. Msau won the USD40 and two years pro subscription to GoStats.com. Her guess was 245,322 and the answer is 247,839.
Yes, he has a very high traffic, over 200k per month.
Anyway, though I missed the number (my guesses were 282,572 and 230,966), he chose my post as the best review!
Well, I guess I won it not because I wrote a good review, but because the other ‘competitors’ didn’t really write any reviews. They were too clouded by the numbers…
What did I win? USD10 cash via PayPal. Actually not really going after the cash lah, just want to support him as he is my friend mah. I thought he really wanted some reviews, so I wrote
Isabel’s Turn 2007-05-07 06:50:27 Yesterday, it was Isabel
’s turn to have fever.
Aiyoh, this is like no end to me. She must be very uncomfortable, hence crying the whole night. I gave her paracetamol at 9pm and once again at 4am. Another sleepless night for me.
I probably have to cancel my holiday, which was already booked and paid for this Wed-Sat. How can I go for holiday, leaving behind one recovering and one sick children?
Furthermore, my mom is also going for holiday, clashing with our schedule. So, I’ve no one to help too (Mom is the most reliable one that I can rely on). DH just called to ask my opinion to cancel our trip. Sigh! This horrible flu bug. I just hope DH stays fit, and not being affected by all of us!
New Neighbour 2007-05-06 09:20:52 Yesterday some new tenants (or owner?) moved into our next door apartment. I saw some Indian girls, very young, look like students.
Somewhat I had a very bad feeling. And I was right!
The 3 of us - Ian, Isabel and myself, slept early last night as we were all still ill. I was awakened by some knocking noise on the wall. This new neighbour was knocking something on the wall. Checked the clock, it was pointing exactly at 12 midnight.
I really wanted to curse them. Why can’t they knock earlier, if they really have to? If they only realised they needed knocking, can’t they do it the next morning?
I tried to ignore the noise and went back to sleep, hoping it was just a few knocks only. Soon after I fell asleep again, the knocking came back again. Then no more. A few minutes, came alive… this continued until I went insane!
At the boiling point, DH also couldn’t take it and went over to interfere. I was too tired to ask him what happened when he went over.
Hong Kong Trip 2007-05-06 05:28:27 I have finally finished writing my HK trip blog. Can’t belive it has to be split into 11 posts, coz there are just too many good food to introduce. I’ve got 1 intro post, 2 for sightseeing/fun things, 7 food posts (5 for HK, 2 for Macau), and 1 HK/Macau tips post.
Can’t post them one shot, so have spaced them out. So far, posted the intro and sightseeing posts, and 1 food post (for a starter!).
Will continue to post them all over the next week, in my travel blog. If you want to know what I’ve eaten/seen, please stop over there ya?! Read more:Hong Kong
Pedicure 2007-05-10 05:10:59 This is my latest nail art. The artist highly recommended it…
What do you think of it? Ian found it fascinating, kept saying “Mama, why you got strawberries on your feet?”
And Isabel is also very interested in it. When bringing her to sleep, she keeps waking up and going over to touch the ’strawberries’. I got to keep hiding my feet.
As for me, I actually dislike it. I find myself looking childish. Despite what the artist said about it giving a ‘younger and vibrant look’, I feel instead of looking younger I look childish.
Guess this round will not last as long as all others I’ve done before, coz I’m sure I will get rid of it very soon. Read more:Pedicure
Being On Leave 2007-05-09 12:12:29 I’m on annual leave now. Well, actually, I am supposed to be in KK now already, enjoying my holiday with DH and our friends, 3 couples. Now, two couples (including us) dropped out.
We’ve decided not to go, very last minute-ly, actually yesterday.
That’s because Isabel’s fever (started on Sunday) didn’t go off until yesterday. Her fever was consistently high between 39.9 to 40.9 for at least 24 hours, depite sponging and having paracetamol (panadol).
After I picked her up from MIL last night, I gave her Veron, sponged her, another dosage of antibiotic (amoxicilin). Tried to divert her attention so that she won’t vomit and let the medication works…

Eat Shit 2007-05-12 09:05:30 “Have I ever eaten any shit when I was a baby?
I’m sure this is a question that we have asked our parents when we were younger. So, have you?
Ian has not eaten his own shit yet. Since birth, he is not the normal baby that would put fingers or any stuff into his mouth. When I told his paed that, he would never believe me.
As for Isabel, she is the opposite. She puts everything into her mouth. When nothing, she can even lick the floor!
Yesterday, while I was chatting with MIL, suddenly we saw Isabel (more…)
Spiderman III 2007-05-11 05:45:35 I am a fan of Spiderman
movies. I don’t really watch or follow Superman or Batman. But for Spiderman, I would not like to miss any.
DH knows I would like to watch this third of the series, but due to the little ones, very difficult to go to cinema.
Yesterday, he encouraged me to watch (alone), since I was on leave. With his encouragement, I left the kids with MIL and went to 1U. Bought a ticket on the spot, went for a quick lunch, bought some snacks, then watched it!
I like Spiderman for many reasons, and for no reasons.

Ambition 2007-05-15 04:02:24 Perhaps asking a 3 y.o. child about his ambition is too early, I guess. But, this was what happened last Sunday morning…
DH: “Ian, what do you want to be when you grow up later?”
Ian answered with his eyes fixed on the toy on hands: “Pilot“.
DH and I exchanged look and whispered: “did you teach him about pilot? no?”
I asked: “So, you want to be a pilot, do you know what is a pilot?”
Ian: “No, I don’t know.”
DH asked again, carefully: “So, pilot is a person who…?”
Ian continued: “… drives the aeroplane!”
So, he knows what is a pilot. And he wants to be a pilot because he can ‘drive’ an aeroplane. Read more:Ambition
No Seat Belt 2007-05-14 06:55:32 Having read a lot about the importance of seat belt, and being trained of safety by the company, I always insist that all my children are buckled in whenever the car moves.
Both my children were trained to use car seat since birth. When Ian approached 3 years old, I have to ‘upgrade’ him to booster seat as he is too tall for the 5 point harnest car seat.
Recently, he starts to challenge me by moving his shoulders out, which makes the seat belt unable to function fully in case of any accidents.
I’ve been threatening him to stop the car, or asked him to leave the car if he doesn’t put his shoulder inside. I found this tiring, threatening is not the right way of disciplining kids, which I know.
So, I showed him a video I downloaded from (more…)
‘No Seatbelt’ Comment 2007-05-18 09:31:43 In my Youtube account, under the &lsquo
;No Seatbelt’ video, there was a very sad comment, and I think it further re-inforces that we need to use seatbelts, and to ensure our love ones also use it.
This is the comment:
This breaks my heart. We were in a car accident June of last year. My 9 year old son was not wearing his seatbelt and I so saw his face in this commercial. He didn’t make it. I was not wearing my seatbelt either and I was thrown from the car. It could have been both of us. WEAR YOUR SEATBELT!!! Read more:Comment
Another Hotel Incident 2007-05-21 11:17:18 Can’t believe this is happening to me again!
I had a busy weekend traveling and working in China from city to city. This morning, I flew from Shanghai to Guangzhou with a male colleague from Beijing. Arrived at the hotel, found out they were over booked, and they let us shared a room. Well, not really that to be exact. They let us share a two-room suite. Believe that or not?
They were not honest at first (sound so similar to the previous Pakistan case). They took our credit card, swiped, made us signed the registration… and then we noticed the price quoted there was different from the confirmation email. Upon checking, only we found out they put us in a two-room suite.
In our culture, it is just not right to put a male and a (more…) Read more:Hotel

Going to Church 2007-05-28 05:34:08 Yesterday morning, I brought Ian to church for the first time.
I have been scouting around for a church to bring my children along. Finally decided to go to this nearby Catholic church. I told Ian the night before, and he is excitedly waiting for me to bring him to the church.
In the morning, at around 7am, he woke up by himself, happily reminded me that I needed to bring him to the church.
When we were there, it was so difficult to attend to him, coz he was so noisy asking very intelligent quesetions, and he keeps pulling the hair of the girl next to him! He wasn’t shy at all, he leaned on her when he (more…) Read more:Going

New Scam 2007-05-28 03:43:46 Received a warning email from my cousin this morning, about a new way of cheating people. Thought of sharing it here.
In fact, my ex-colleague’s father received this call. My mother in law also received this call. So, I believe it is true.
Well, it starts with a phone call - upon answering it you will hear a recorded voice message stating that the call is from the high court and you have a case to attend there on so and so date/time. To find out what case you have, you are required to speak to the operator, so you will press the ‘9′ button.
The operator will ask for (more…)
Isabel’s First Birthday 2007-05-28 03:30:06 I have so many things wanted to write, but due to no web access, have to delay them, and lost the mood already…
Anyway, last Saturday was Isabel
’s first birthday. I wanted to give Isabel the same treatment Ian received two years ago. But then, pity Isabel, everything turned out to be disappointing. I really feel very sorry for her, and I am also very upset/angry with everyone… yes, everyone…
I took leave on Friday, wanted to take her to take some studio photos, just like Ian did. Well, this one is her own fault. She is worse that Ian. Ian frowned his face all the time, but at least he didn’t cry and we still managed to take some good photos. But this Isabel… the moment we put her down, she looked frightened. And then, when the camera flashed, she was so scared that she screamed and cried. No way we could put her down again. (more…) Read more:First

Burger King Sales (1 Day) 2007-05-28 02:30:33 Not sure this also happens in other outlets on other days…
Today from 12 noon to 8pm at Burger
King Sri Hartamas, they are having this great promo: for RM10 nett there is one burger (Whopper or Grilled Chicken) + Chicken Tenders (3 pcs) + Onion Rings + Mango Drink.
As it is raining today and I was outside, on my way back to the office I’ve decided to use the drive-in service. Naturally I bought that set on offer.
Guess I fall into that promo trick. Read more:Sales

Telekom/Streamyx Down 2007-05-27 23:41:14 It was frustrating that my house’s phone line was down for the past few weeks. It wasn’t hurting me badly until recently when I was on leave on Friday.
I had so much that I wanted to blog about, but being unable to access the web upsets me! Lodged complaints to Telekom
also no use. They only said they will attend/fix it asap - but ‘asap’ is just the word they use - without committing any day/time!
Until now, it is still not fixed. Paying monthly fee for my Streamyx and phoneline, not receiving the services that I am entitled to.
Files Backup 2007-05-31 16:34:18 I have been getting warnings that my space usage is over the allocated quota. I have been asked to archive my files so many times by the admin.
Well, not that I don’t want to archive them. I actually need the files as my daily reference. I always need to write reports that look at trends, and that has to be backdated to 3 to 5 years ago. That’s why, I have to keep all the project reports from day-1.
In the past, I’ve tried to archive them in CDs. That resulted fourty over CDs on the rack. When I want to do a report, I often have to open up to 10 archived reports from 10 CDs, and that is such a pain. If I am traveling, that’s even worse, as I can’t be carrying all my CDs wherever I go!

More About MIL’s New Neighbour 2007-05-31 02:32:26 Last night I found out there is more things to write about that new neighbour of MIL.
In fact, not only MIL got the heck of it, her other neighbour (the other side) also got scolded! Can you imagine, MIL is in between the two houses, and that phsyco neighbour can have ‘war’ with the other one.
We have been living in peace without this new neighbour and suddenly they came and the whole neighborhood got stirred up.
Everyday when the good neighbour walks out, the evil neighbour would take out her underwear and her husband’s underwear and swing at the good neighbour. She is like trying to give bad luck to her and their children. I think she has mental illness.

Ethical or Not 2007-05-29 20:56:16 I wonder if it is ethical for banks or credit card companies to pre-approve and send the cards to customers in their database, without the customers applying for it?
I have got these so called free credit cards many times without applying. They usually come with housing loans, or for existing current account holders.
Though they said the cards will only be activated upon our verification, I still think it is not right.
It is like encouraging spending, encouraging taking more loans through credit cards. What if the person receives it have very low self control, and see that they suddenly have so much of credits to use…
Not sure whether there are any regulation from Bank Negara to control this or not. If there is none, perhaps they should start regulating it! Talk about the young people not able to control their personal debts being a new social problem, they should do something about it…
MIL New Neighbour 2007-05-29 20:29:35 In-law’s previous neighbour bought their own house and moved end of last year. The owner wanted to rent it out again, but has been vacant for quite a while.
A couple of months ago, a real agent came with an old couple. They liked the house but wanted a lower rent, so couldn’t make the deal. Somewhat from conversation between MIL and the agent, they found out MIL knows the owner.
Few days later, the couple came back and asked MIL’s help to talk to the owner to lower the rent. MIL is always too nice to reject others, so she helped them, and finally they moved in.
Then, nightmare began…
A couple of weeks after they moved in, the old lady started to scold MIL openly at the yard. MIL at first didn’t know (more…)
Remote Control Helicopter (Toy) 2007-05-28 21:39:14 On Friday 18 May, I went to China under a very short notice, to observe a new supplier’s work over the weekend. It was a very rush trip, with very little time for myself.
I arrived in Beijing hotel mid morning Saturday, had a short nap, went over to the Toy City to get some toys for my children within 30 min, and then went straight to the agency’s office and started working till late night. I still owe a friend to buy a table runner for her (next time ya?).
Sunday morning, flew to Shanghai, rushed to the agency’s office and worked till late night. Monday morning, flew to Guangzhou, spent some time arguing over their mistake, changed hotel, rushed to the agency’s office and worked till late night - same on Tuesday. Wednesday, left Guangzhou after lunch heading back to KL. What a busy schedule, so no chance to sight see and/or taste the delicious local food. Most of my meals were fast food, delivered to the office.
Anyway, what I wanted to highlight is th Read more:Remote

Bukit Merah Laketown Resort 2007-06-08 06:04:38 Last Saturday was the King’s birthday, so it was a public holiday. On the same day, there are many people getting married. DH’s ex-customer, a Malay, invited us to his house in Taiping’s village for the wedding ceremony.
DH booked an apartment in the Bukit
Merah Laketown Resort
, thinking to bring the kids there after the wedding lunch.
Left our house at 9′ish in the morning, expected to be at his friend’s house at around noon or 1pm… Have to admit that we were too inexperienced in outstation traveling. It was so jammed along the highway, and we only reached his friend’s house at 3pm.
We were all very hungry, but still okay. The worst thing is —> handling my darling girl, Isabel!
She wouldn’t sleep. She wouldn’t rest. She wouldn’t listen to us or look outside. She just screamed, screamed, screamed… for hours. At one point she vomitted.
It was so tortured for DH to drive the car. Not that we didn’t
BFG Getting More Challenges 2007-06-12 01:32:57 After the last trip from China (Beijing-Shanghai-Guangzhou), I have to admit that it is getting more and more challenging to continue breastfeeding my children with these traveling.
Though I’ve learnt the ways to express, keep, and transport back my EBM, it is getting more and more challenging to do so, and I believe soon it will be almost impossible. I’m glad Isabel is already 12 months old, and I still have good stock of frozen EBM that can last for a month.
First, I was challenged with “no liquid onboard” policy. The solution is to check in my ebm - if large quantity. If small quantity - try to fit within the rules of 1L ziploc bag and separate them by 100ml small packs.
And then, in the last China trip, I was faced with another bigger issue - this is even bigger than the ‘no liquid’ policy issue.
In Guangzhou, the hotel refused to freeze my ice packs for me. Without the ice (more…)
Online Shopping 2007-06-11 22:38:09 I must blame Christene for this…
I read her blog here, and got attracted by those modern cloth diapers (CD). And I started to surf around and learn about the facts of CD.
I read the forum discussion in MMB, and then went over to Mia Bambina’s online store and blog to read more. Then went over to the forum Sandra (Mia Bambina’s owner) newly created. Learned more and more, got convinced more and more, to get CD for my children.
Well, I’ve been buying disposables as if it is free - every single piece costs about RM1, and I am very thrifty trying to save on those — only allow my children to wear one piece (more…) Read more:Shopping
