And that's why they call me Mommy Cracked 2007-12-05 00:42:00 I know I have a bunch of giveaways going on this week, but I just have to release all of this because I'm still reeling.First of all, we are at about 50% Griswold with Cracked
Daddy's big Christmas lighting projet. Bless his heart, this man stood out in the RAIN hanging Christmas lights. In the flower garden. On the house. Around every inch of fence lining our big backyard. For real. But, I have to hand it to him. It really does look ok and, of course, EB loves it. And I decided that seeing the wonder of holiday magic in my child's eyes matters more than if our yard looks like Christmas exploded. So I got into the spirit and handed Cracked Daddy some colored (gasp!) lights to add to the bushes. It cracks me up now. But I do say a silent prayer each time I go to plug these lights in and unplug them. There is some interesting wiring going on that Cracked Daddy swears is safe. And then EB. Oh my Lord, if this child hasn't schooled me in motherhood this past week. I won't Read more:Mommy
Works For Me Wednesday 2007-12-04 19:38:00 The fabulous Shannon at Rocks In My Dryer asks her dear readers...It's 5:15 pm, the kids are hungry, you have a headache, hubby is almost home, and the pantry has three things in it. What is your BEST last-minute meal recipe? That question came from one of Shannon's readers Lysa TerKeurst, who has an eggcellent blog! Here's what I would serve:Chicken and Rice CasseroleBoneless, skinless chicken breasts1 Cup of Uncle Ben's Rice1 package of Lipton Onion Soup Mix2 cups of water1/2 stick of butterI know..she said 3 ingredients in the pantry, but I'm not counting the water or butter since those are staples around here. Cut the chicken breasts into bite size pieces. Melt the butter and pour into the casserole dish. Stir soup mix with the water, then add it to the casserole dish. Add in the rice and chicken and give it a good final stir. Cover with foil and bake at 350 for 1 hour. For even MORE great last-minute recipes, head over here and look around and add yours, too! It's Like Christmas Came Early! 2007-12-18 00:26:00 I like to write. Alot. It's even better when I can write about things that I'm passionate about, which besides my two blogs, isn't nearly as often as I'd like. But I've been chosen to write on a monthly basis about something very important to me. I don't feel comfortable spilling all the beans until it's a done deal, but y'all...I am so excited I could burst! And that doesn't happen very often, either! This opportunity has come at such a great time for me. It's a huge reminder to me that God is still working on me and taking me places in my freelance writing career I only dreamed! And not a bad confidence booster, to boot. I just had to share (well, as much as I can for now). Read more:Christmas

It's A Christmas Conspiracy, Y'all! 2007-12-16 17:52:00 It never fails. On E.B.'s first Christmas
, Cracked Daddy bought me a digital camera so we could have instant memories of everything our little angel would do from then on. Being a digital idiot, I had no idea we'd need a little card to store all those pictures I wanted to take, so I think that Christmas was spent taking pics and uploading them as fast as I could to make more room in the memory. We finally bought that memory card a couple of days later.Last Christmas, it came to our attention that a second battery would be awful nice for the camera. This occured to me a week before Christmas. But praise God and Ebay, we had our second battery in time for the holidays!Well, guess what I had to order today? A battery charger for this camera. Yes, a week before Christmas, my battery charger is mysteriously missing. I'm not too alarmed, because I know that since I've already ordered another one, the original will eventually turn up (because that's just how my luck goes), but di Read more:Conspiracy

Throwback Posts 2007-12-14 01:03:00 Have you ever just stumbled into a blog and you really like it...like it enough to go dredging through years of back posts to read more? I did this awhile ago. I won't mention the blog name, for fear that this person may think I am a crazy pycho-nut stalker. I'm really not. She just writes so well and she's darn funny. But tonight I am glad I did this. I ran across inspiring posts that really spoke to me. About motherhood...about life in general, and of course, about God. All things I struggle with on a daily basis. All the things I sometimes think that other people have "so together" in their lives. But they struggle, too. We all do. After a particularly trying night here with E.B., and not feeling 100% myself, it's nice to find some bloggy manna from heaven that throws you a rope so you can hang on some more. Read more:Throwback

The Blah Blog Post 2007-12-13 08:59:00 I know, I'm really supposed to be working on the complaining, but yesterday was a tough day here. I spent all morning in the doctor's office. I have a lump in my throat that seems to get better with a steroid shot, only to come right back within a day. The doc can't see anything, but ran a WBC and Thyroid test, gave me another shot, and sent me home with antibiotics (which make my stomach feel lovely) and orders for rest. With a toddler. *smirk*Yesterday afternoon was spent in the vet's office with our male cat. He started drooling really bad Monday night. I called Tuesday and they told me to wait it out and see if it got better. It didn't. The vet couldn't tell me much, but Big Kitty got a shot and some antibiotics, so he and I were a sorry pair yesterday. I am happy to report that Big Kitty is looking much better this morning after camping out with me on the couch last night. E.B. spent the night with my parents and he is spending the day with my grandmother. It's t Read more:Blog Post
Works For Me Wednesday- 2007-12-11 22:09:00 (With apologies, because I am trying to finish our Christmas cards.)Since I am a stay at home mom, I often have to take my 2 year old along to do the grocery shopping because our nanny has the day off (*snort*) or he's just looking so particularly cute that day that it would be a shame not to show him off. And E.B. is an angel for the most part on these marathon shopping excursions. You know...the one where you have to go to Super Wal-Mart or some other megastore because you need it all...household products AND groceries. How do I keep my little man content while mommy shops until she drops?Dum-Dum suckers. Yes indeed, folks. This Cracked Mama keeps a stash in her purse at all times. Is it the healthiest thing to offer him? Heck no, of course not. But darn if his little eyes don't just light up with sheer delight and his mouth is so busy working on that sucker that I don't hear a peep out of him for minutes. Minutes, folks!! It's my dirty "mommy secret" and E.B. only gets Read more:Works

The View From The Top is Amazing! 2007-12-11 02:56:00 I'm short. Real short. Like 4' 11" kind of short. But apparently, today I'm on TOP! Top Mama, that is! It feels good on top....looking down on my bloggy queendom (that includes a whopping two of my blogs)...taking it all in. Ahhh! But I won't stay here for long unless I get some clicks. Yep, that's the way it is at the top. You must have clicks daily, affirming to God and country, that yes...you ARE a Top Mama.So will you click here? Please? With a Cracked Mama on top? How Often Do YOU Complain? Book Giveaway! 2007-12-10 09:09:00 I never really stopped to realize just how much I complain in a single day until I was reading a book review in Oprah magazine about A Complaint Free World by Will Bowen. Bowen has a plan for ridding the world of uneccessary complaining, one complainer at a time. It's a pretty big task, but Bowen feels confident that starting small will produce a bigger, positive effect. He's already seeing results. And let's face it, people who complain ALL the time end up becoming toxic to those around them. Not a very flattering way to be known among your friends, co-workers, and family. Also, did you ever stop to think what complaining is costing you professionally, emotionally, AND physically?I complain. A LOT. I complain about things that really should be looked at from a blessing standpoint rather than one of complaint. My child gives me daily fits. But praise the Lord he is healthy and strong. My husband's work takes him away from home often. But Praise the Lord he is employed. I Read more:Often

Giveaway- Heavenly Hankees 2007-12-08 00:51:00 This hankee was designed with prayer and divine guidance. This material will become softer with use, like our relationship with God...the more you use it the softer and more comfortable it will become. It represents our Saviors hands as He catches our tears and wipes them from our face until He can personally wipe them away when we see Him face to face. (Isaiah 25:8) The cross on each one represents how our precious Savior died for our many sins, and how unworthy we are for such a supreme sacrifice. Each hankee is wrapped in blue netting - the color blue represents the bruises of our heart that causes us to weep. Jesus will use your bruises to help you, heal you, and then allow you to help others. Jesus wept, the shortest verse in The Holy Bible. (John 11:35) Our Savior wept for and with His friends, the joy they have, the pain they encouter, and the suffering of their life. He also wept for the unbelievers. Friend, Use Your Hankee as a flag of surrender. Sur Read more:Heavenly

Tour of Homes, but darnit...I'm here! I am only the 474th person to sign up, so I probably won't get many visitors, but that's ok. So sit back and be unamazed!Welcome to our humble home! Please do not follow the reindeer sign if you are looking for reindeer games because it will take you to our carport.
