2007-11-27 20:46:00
Hi all,Today is my 35th birthday. And I must say, this has been one of (if not) the best year of my life. Since my last b-day I not only quit smoking ( Dec 10 it will be a full year) but I also met, fell in love with and got engaged to Ron. Plus, I start a new job tomorrow, with a great company, which I am so looking forward to. I feel as if this is a real turning point in my life. Not sure wh

Crochet Eye Patch
2008-05-23 22:26:00
Hi all,Now I know this is a bit unusual, but there is a story behind this one. You see two days ago, I was in a meeting with a couple of coworkers and one of them, Cecilia ( the lady in the photo) was having allergy problems so one of her eyes were red. After discerning that she was OK, we started having a bit of fun with it. And of course at some point an eye patch came up. Then my other cow

Spare Room Knits on Ravelry
2008-05-25 19:37:00
Like so many others out there, I recently joined Ravely. Well, I actually joined last November before I started my new job, but it took me a couple of months to get settled in there, so I just recently started adding content to my page. I kinda felt like an ingrate. Here I was with an opportunity to be one of the beta testers of what has to be the coolest knitting communities around and I just

The Barbecuing Vegetarian
2008-05-27 07:45:00
Memorial Day. It presented us with a dilemma, should we barbecue or not. I was against the whole idea because I don't know how to grill and Ron (God Bless him) is a vegetarian who will occasionally eat chicken so long as there are no bones in it. Now, being a carnivore, that doesn't exactly inspire confidence. I mean how can you possibly grill meat if you don't eat it? So after some urging fro

Yarn Across Minnesota
2008-05-29 20:03:00
I went to one of my favorite yarn stores yesterday, Needlework Unlimited, to satiate that never ending urge to add more yarn to my stash and I heard something interesting. Laura told me that Minnesota has the highest number of yarn stores per capita than any other state. Can you believe that? I guess I can kinda believe it, I mean we do get rather "robust" winters here. But the most per capita!!

Machine Knitters Guild Knit-in
2008-05-30 19:04:00
Tomorrow we are having a machine knitters knit-in at the Hopkins Center for the Arts and I cant wait! I bought a knitting machine last year and despite my good intentions, I have never even taken it out of the box--the whole process seems so overwhelming! So, I plan on doing just that tomorrow, learning how to work a machine I paid a lot of money for but have done nothing with but find new plac

After The Knit In
2008-06-01 13:54:00
I had a great time at the Machine Knitters Knit in yesterday in Hopkins! Not only did I finally take my machine out of the box, I actually learned how to knit using a machine. Ok..on the real, my machine was broken (even though it was the first time I had taken it out of the box) so Heather let me use her's. I was also grateful for Heather's mom Amanda (chapter president) who showed me how to rea

Barack Obama in St Paul Last Night: We were there!!!
2008-06-04 08:26:00
We were there! We witnessed the historic moment when Barack Obama declared himself the Democratic nominee for the President of the United States! Moreover, I was in the volunteer section on the railing so I got to shake his hand AND HUG Michelle Obama! And I got one of those neat signs you see people waving on tv.Ron had a great seat from which he could enjoy the speech. He is not as rambunctio

Where does the Time Go?
2008-06-12 22:03:00
There is so much to do and I struggle to find time to do it! Right now, I am looking for a pattern to use to make a bib for Ava. This of course is to go with the cute little scratch mitts and hat I made for her earlier this week. My mom keeps urging me to send the box already, but I just want to add in a couple more things and then I will send the box. I also need to finish taking pictures of m

Ava Update

Ok,As I mentioned in the previous post, I made my new baby niece Ava a little sun hat and some matching scratch mitts.I also sent a little hat as well, but there is nothing to go with it. I am working on the bib, but my mom said Ava would be talking by the time she got the stuff if I kept stalling on sending the box to add "one more thing to it." So the blanket will have to wait as well. For Ja

WWKIP Day
2008-06-15 20:44:00
Hi all,So this was my very first World Wide Knit in Public Day Event and what can I say, it was amazing! I went to a KIP hosted by Needlework Unlimited, one of the best yarn stores in the Twin Cities, in the park across from the Three Turtles Bakery. It was an incredibly lovely day to spend in the park. It was warm with a gentle breeze; strong enough to keep the bugs a way, but not so much that
