Interview with Lost’s Elizabeth Mitchell
2008-03-07 10:24:20
Check out the Honolulu Advertiser for an interview with Elizabeth Mitchell AKA Dr. Juliet Burke. As the article points out, Juliet is still one of those characters whom the audience still doesn’t quite know whether or not to trust, and I think, definitely seems to be one of the more interesting of the Others. .

What Franchise Should Joss Whedon Take Over?
2008-03-06 22:01:46
That is the question that io9 would like you to answer. Based on the choices, it’s a tough one… He could really go places with Bionic Woman easily enough. Star Trek? Why not! He only made one of the most enjoyable science fiction movies of recent years! And as for Star Wars, it’s been tinkered [...]

Watchmen Movie Getting More Real…
2008-03-06 14:05:58
Geek Disclaimer: I’m hesitant about the classic graphic novel Watchmen being made into a film. Alan Moore’s prose is so dense, lively, and tied into the actual story itself that I’m in a fret about how anyone could translate the comic to film. But, shrug, it is being translated. Late last night – almost [...]

He also talks [...]

According to scifi.com genre shows were the theme for the CW’s new Thursday night lineup with both Supernatural and Smallville being picked up for another season and new episodes to return this autumn. Personally, I still have a bee in my bonnet about the CW canceling Veronica Mars, but nice to see that these genre [...]

2008-03-04 13:22:41

Brent Spiner Interview
2008-03-10 02:28:21
Remember I posted that blog last week called “Ask Brent Spiner” where SFX was collecting a bunch of questions from readers to put to Star Trek’s Data? Well, I don’t think this is the one; however, SFX does have an interview with Brent Spiner where he talks about his new album. Which, frankly being that [...]

The History of Today
2008-03-09 22:00:02
How can I really resist linking to an article at a blog delightfully named BookSlut?  Right now it has a great peice by Paul Kincaid on “The History of Today ” which looks at the ways in which novelty is critical to science fiction — hence the constant rise and fal of movements within the genre [...]

10,000 B.C. Switches It Up
2008-03-09 21:50:52
I know I already ranted about 10,000 B.C., but now I can provide you with the detailed snark from an archaelogist: “It’s like someone looked at the pictures in an archaeology textbook and said ‘hey, there are some good ideas here but we need to switch it up a bit.’” Switching it up apparently includes moving sabretooth [...]

Happy Birthday, Remus Lupin
2008-03-09 21:20:15
J.K. Rowling’s website has been updated to inform us that tomorrow, March 10th, is Remus Lupin’s birthday.  Now, I’m all for celebrations for fictional characters (yes, I’ve been to birthday dinners for Severus Snape and am relatively unembarassed by this fact), but after Lupin’s fate in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, it’s a bit [...]

Comic Books Continue To Conquer Movies
2008-03-14 22:25:42
A heap of movie industry news from Variety and Hollywood Reporter reveals that the comic book companies and film production companies are still going hot and heavy. Who would have thought that a form involving storytelling through pictures would be so well-suited for, hmm, another form involving storytelling through pictures? Grin. Paramount [...]

Petersen Has A Lot On His Plate: Ender’s Game and Uprising
2008-03-14 21:43:25
Wolfgang Petersen has signed on to direct a yet-to-be-written science fiction thriller by Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond, K-PAX), called Uprising . All that’s know about the movie is it will follow a resistance movement on Earth after an alien invasion. Sounds… epic and, possibly, gassy. But I have hope for this movie and certainly Ender’s Game, too, [...]

Doomsday: “A Glorious Huge Pile of Crap”
2008-03-16 23:08:41
Scifi.com has a hilarious and oddly glowing review of Doomsday up, celebrating the film has an homage to the end of the world exploitation films of the 1980s.  The film apparently features quarantined cannibals with mohwaks, a political villain with a last name that rhymes with “Thatcher,” and (as if that weren’t enough) a horrible [...]
